Adobe Air Tester Needed
http://blogs.adobe.com/ashutosh/2009/04 … _pr_1.html
Looks like adobe is doing some new air stuff and needs tester. we should contact them and get some arch development set up, or some kind of cross distro installer, that way we dont have to do anything different than install a pkg or run a installer.
Free of charge, I don't think that Adobe is ever going to open any of their products .

Is Adobe Air SDK needed GPU information, when the game want to load the ATF file ?
Hi, Adobe members.
this is jonghwan lee.
Actually I found texture load issue on a game(names samkukjangtu on korean) which is using Adobe gaming sdk.
the game uses the ATF file for the textures on the game(actually it's related in Air SDK, I think).
Of course, it is not problem for others GPU. but the newly launched IMG GPU( PowerVR rgx version ) makes this problem.
I guess the SDK is using GPU information for the control some configuration
is that right? please let me know about this issue ASAP.
thank you.Well. the issue is like texture loading problem as shown below.
<- this image is made from ATF files.
From checking original ATF file with ATF view program, the image was all right.
But the image is polluted like this after loaded on Texture memory.
So, I assume that Adobe Air SDK set some configurations for loading ATF files with GPU information.
Becasue this problem is not reproduced on the smartphone which uses the existing GPU(It means already launched GPU), but it is reproduced for the newly developed GPU(actually i'm developing with Imagination rgx version which is not really launched).
To sum up, Please confirm that Adobe Air SDK uses GPU information for loading texture from ATF file. -
Is Adobe AIR needed to run panels?
I notice in the User Guide that Adobe AIR is needed to run the Adobe Configurator 1.0. Is this only required at the time you develop panels or is AIR runtime needed on a machine on which you install an already developed panel?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks..
RobNo. AIR is not required to run panels. In fact, you cannot run AIR projects as a panel in Photoshop CS4. You can use AIR to create a standalone app to control creative suite applications using SwtichBoard. http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/SwitchBoard

Adobe Air Popup open from taskbar
hello frndz
please me help out in creating a popup in Adobe Air open from taskbar after regular time interval.similar as we see on yahoomessenger or msn messenger.
is there any way for this.?
actually i m making a text chat messenger in Adobe Air and needed this demo for on on-air(live) and off -air users(offline)..
Thanks and regards
Vineet oshoSo basically you are talking about a small pop up window as in you see when your friends are online on yahoo/msn.
If that's the case you can get the visible screen bounds &
nativeWindow.x=screenBounds.width - nativewindow.width
nativeWindow.y=screenBounds.height - nativewindow.height
This should place the window at thebottom right corner of your screen (next to system tray)
You can change the transparency/alpha of the window to have that fadeIn/fadeOut effect.
Let me know if you were looking for something else. -
Good evening all,
I think this is a complex issue.
I have adobe air application which loads a SWF I made.
Inside this SWF I have used the "component LOADER" to load
something with "ContentPath=image.jpg" for example.
But the swf loaded in the Adobe air works, but does not load
the "ContentPath image"...
(it does load and display it when it this swf is run outside
adobe Air)
I need it to be dynamic like this, so if eventually I Include
it in the package it won't help much...
I just intend to replace an image background from this loaded
swf file!
Thanks!
Edit:
At this time of the editing, I fear and realize
something....I have been using Actionscript2 for the .SWF file,
could it be why it does not works???
If its problematic, is there a simple way like telling it to
read actionscript2, rather than transforming everything??
edit2:
I found this on the official AIR FAQ:
Will Flash version 8 and below SWF files run in Adobe AIR?
Yes. However, the Adobe AIR APIs are only exposed to Flash
content via ActionScript 3 / AVM2, and thus Flash 8 / AVM1 SWFs
will be able to run, but they will not have direct access to the
Adobe AIR APIs.
source:
source
faq Adobe
it seems it should works!!??
Edit3:
nope I confirm at least some code made in Actionscript2
works.
I am sure this code needed to be changed for working in
actionscript3, so "actionscript2" code works in Adobe Air.
The problem of not loading my image must come from something
else!!??Good Morning all!
Hilarious....
I tried so much to think maybe Adobe Air does not like a SWF
using actionscript2, or it does not load any "external image from a
swf", etc...
None of that!
I just in FLASH in the ComponentLoader....I did put simply
the ContentPath at "myimage.jpg"....
Of course I had to use the absolute path like
"c:\\myfolder\\myimage.jpg"
Of course aswell it works now!!! -
What is Adobe AIR (And why should I develop in it)
I'm just wonderi ng what Adobe AIR is, and how I could use it in my Flash Development. In the main properties of my flash project I can select which player to run it on, and AIR is available in that list. I haven't tried it yet. But what do I gain out of using it. Can I just switch to Adobe AIR while still using all of my Actionscript 3.0 code? Does it add any new API's I can use for Actionscript 3.0 or is it an entirely different language?
Thanks in advanceLogicon211 wrote:
Thanks for the reply. I read through a few of the guides there and from what I can see, I can essentially just change the player to Adobe AIR without needing to change any of my code. However I will gain acess to some API's that only run using AIR?
Am I correct in saying this?
probably, but not necessarily. if you're calling server-side scripting, you'll have some trouble converting to air. and, there are some other unlikely scenarios that will cause some trouble.
A lot of the sample apps included xml documents in the same directory, are they needed in some way?

Listen the current URL with Flash Adobe Air
Hi!
I'm new in Adobe Air, I need (urgente!!!) to do a simple widget with Adobe Air that monitors the URLs where I navigate and when I enter to a specific site the widget appears in the front of my screen and display a message. The problem is that I don't know how to listen the current URL of my browser using Adobe air (flash).
I was trying with HttpStatusEvent but I can figure aut how to retireve the URL from my browser.
Thanx!!
CarolinaAn Adobe AIR application runs independently from web browsers. For something like what you describe to work, an application would need to find a way to interact deliberately with browsers running on the system. The HttpStatusEvent, however, is an event that is listened for when the Adobe AIR application itself is attempting to interact with a URL and receives an HTTP status code, in which case you are already aware of the URL to begin with.

Where can i find SCUP catalogue for Adobe Shockwaye player and Adobe Air
Where can i find SCUP catalog for Adobe Shockwave player and Adobe Air.
i need to upgrade Adobe Air 14.0 and Adobe Shockwave player 12.0.1.
i want to import catalog through SCUP and then deploy it using SCCM 2012r2Why do you want 8?
You would be better off with 9: http://download.cnet.com/Adobe-Reader/3000-10743_4-10000062.html?tag=mncol
How much system RAM do you have? I bet if you upgraded your RAM you would not have the performance issues with 9.

How should an application developer handle Adobe AIR upgrades on Windows and Mac?
Hi,
My questions concern Windows 7 (and later) and Mac OS X:
Is Adobe AIR upgraded automatically? In other words, by default (if the user does not uncheck something during installation), is there a service/polling mechanism that checks for a new version of Adobe AIR and recommends an update to the user?
What happens if a user has an older version of Adobe AIR installed, and my application requires a more recent Adobe AIR version? Do I, as an application developer, have to do something or is it handled by Adobe AIR automatically?
Have Adobe AIR introduced many backward compatibility issues in the past? Is it possible for a user to have multiple versions of Adobe AIR installed at the same time? Can I, as an application developer, specify that this exact version of Adobe AIR is needed by my application?
If there sometimes are backwards compatibility issues with Adobe AIR. Is there a way for me as an application developer to try out a new version before it is released to the normal users? In other words, is there a way for me to make sure that my application works with the next version of Adobe AIR before it is released by the normal channels to the general user base?
Is there something else which should be taken into consideration when it comes to Adobe AIR upgrades and versioning issues?Well we would suffer especially much from two of the drawbacks listed at Packaging a captive runtime bundle for desktop computers:
The AIR in-browser API for installing and launching an AIR application from a web page is not supported
AIR update API and framework are not supported
We are using the Air application as a solution for printing, which is invoked using the AIR in-browser API when the user clicks the "Print" button. I would guess the route to make it work with a captive runtime (which was something new to me), which I see as a normal stand alone application, would be to register a specific MIME type with the OS and each Web browser which is handled by our print application. And let a file of our new MIME type contain the information passed in the in-browser invocation at the moment. That would trigger the application when a user clicks Print.
We also use the AIR update API to update our application. Being without it means that we would need to create our own update mechanism.
These two paths to handle the given drawbacks above would mean a lot of work for us. Especially as we want to support both Windows and Mac. It might be worth it if the answers to my questions in the original post indicates that we can expect another type of problems instead.
I am still interested in answers to my original questions. But we will certainly take the captive runtime approach into consideration. As I didn't know about it, I really appreciate your answer! -
Need better alternative to Adobe AIR Application Installer
In order to build a double-clickable desktop application,
apparently one has to use the Adobe AIR Application Installer. This
is bad for a few reasons:
It's not scriptable.
It hard-wires the name of the swf file to load into the
generated binary.
For Mac OS X, the "swf launcher" should be a simple "launcher
stub". The name of the swf file to load should be read from the
Info.plist file. If it did this, then the stub could be the same
for all applications. For Windows, there could be a simple XML
config file in the same directory as the app that serves the same
purpose as Info.plist on the Mac.
I hope Adobe addresses this soon.quote:

How about creating your native launcher app with the whole
AIR client in the Resources folder. When you launch your app it
launches your server executable, then after its done its stuff it
launches the AIR app.
You could make the launcher app itself headless so you don't
get two dock icons.
This doesn't address the need to have a non-GUI alternative to
the Air Application Installer so builds can be completely
automated.
It definitely breaks the drag-and-drop of a file onto the
application's icon.
I never said I have 2 Dock icons. (I already solved that
problem by making the server "faceless" by setting LSUIElement to 1
in the server's Info.plist.)
Why do I want completely automated builds? Aside from the
ease of just being able to type "ant" and press Return, any real
development group has things such that a "build machine"
automatically rebuilds the app (on all platforms) after ever
developer check-in to check for accidental build breakage. Those
builds also become available to QA for them to test.
Ever time some new development tool comes out where the
authors provide a GUI tool (presumably because they think GUI =
easy), I have to wonder, "What were they thinking?" If the authors
are themselves developers, how can they not see how crippling not
providing an all-command-line tool-chain is? Don't all non-trivial
development groups do automated builds as described above? The only
answer I can think of is that some
PHB
somewhere thought it would be a "neat idea" to have an
"easy-to-use" GUI application (because that sells to other PHBs).
As to drag-and-drop: presumably, the swf launcher that gets
generated properly handles drag-and-drop of files onto the
application's icon and Does The Right Thing when it happens (where
"right thing" usually means simply opening the document dropped
onto the icon). Now, since my launcher gets launched instead, that
breaks drag-and-drop unless I implement that functionality myself.
The way I've implemented my launcher is such that, after the
fork(), it's the parent process that exec's itself into the client
thus keeping the original process ID. The hope is that Launch
Services on the Mac, when handling and drag-and-drop event, will
send said event to the original process -- which is now the client
-- and everything Just Works. I have yet to get around to testing
this (I'm busy with other things at the moment); but, if it turns
out that my hope isn't fulfilled, well then I can fall back to
keeping my launcher running to get and forward the OpenDoc
AppleEvents from my launcher to the swf launcher.
So, anyway, back to my original plea: Adobe,
please just give us a command-line replacement for the Air
Application Installer (preferably just a launcher stub that reads
Info.plist). Thanks. -

ThanksIf you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
4. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
5. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
6. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane. -

Amazon rejection - The link to Adobe AIR in your app needs to be updated - How do I change this
Here's a message I got from Amazon:
Device Tested : Motorola Droid (2.3), HTC Evo (2.3.3),Samsung Galaxy Tablet(2.2)
Issue: The link to Adobe AIR in your app needs to be updated so that customers are taken directly to the Adobe AIR app page on the Amazon Appstore. The Download URL is http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.adobe.air Steps: i)Launch the application. ii)Tap on "Install">> "Appstore". Observe that the application goes to the home page of the Amazon app store for the installation of Adobe Air.
I am assumed I could change this in my xml file:
I change the URL in this line to the one they provided (http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.adobe.air):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">
However, when it is published it always changes it back to the old address. How do I prevent this? Thanks.
I think I found the answer couresty of Benny 7500 on Aug 11, 2011 9:18 AM.
For me works editing of Markets.xml file at:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5.5\en_US\Configuration\Android\Markets.xml"
and replacing of Amazon Appstore key to
<market name="Amazon Appstore" url="http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.adobe.air"/>
That's all!
