Adobe and script causing slow run

Every once in a while I get a spinning beach ball for about 10 seconds, then a box saying an Adobe Script is causing things to run slow, do I want to abort the script. I do and everything's fine. What is it that's happening? Should I trash Adobe Reader? Preview works fine for me. Thanks.

HI,
What software are you using when you see this dialog box? Adobe Acrobat Reader?? If that is the case ...
First try deleting the associated preference files.
com.adobe.acrobat.90.sh.plist
com.adobe.Readerx869.0plist
com.adobe.Reader.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag those files to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, drag that Adobe Acrobat Reader app to the Trash then go here and download a new reader file. http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

  • I have recently downloaded osx lion on my mac and now it is running incredibly slow? Does anyone have any suggestions

I have recently downloaded OSX Mountain Lion and my computer is running considerably slower? Anyone have any suggestions?

It will run slow for a few hours as the new install will index your entire hard disk(s), as well as do a complete Time Machine backup if you're using that. Click on the Spotlight icon on the top right of your screen. Is there a progress bar that says its indexing (and if you're using Time Machine, is the TM icon in the menubar spinning)? If so, just wait for those to complete and things should be back to normal.
Also be sure to run Software Update and manually update any 3rd party apps, many of which may not work correctly under Mountain Lion and could cause slowdowns.

  • PDF error A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly.

When opening a PDF of a website using Acrobat 9.0 Professional, I am recieiving the following notification.
A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly.  If it continues to run, you computer may become unresponsive.  Do you want to abort the script?
The error does not occur when viewing the live website from which the PDF was made.
I recieve the same error when trying to open the PDF on other PCs using Adobe Reader 9.
I have updated the flash player on each of the PCs as well.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas or insight regarding why I am recieving this notification.
    Thank you

I'm suddenly getting the same error message, on a variety of web sites.  I'm running Windows Vista on a fairly high-end desktop, and I haven't added any new software lately.  This just started up out of nowhere.  When searching for this error message on the web, people are asking this same question all over the place, and no one has an answer.  Does Adobe ever monitor these forums?

  • "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues ...

I'm continually getting a "movie script error" in regards to
a looping interactive. The following message: "A script in this
movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it
continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you
wish to abort the script?" frustratingly comes up despite numerous
startups and taking off information from the server. It seemed to
occur slightly after uploading some content to the admin server
which delivers the info to flash upon rebooting. However this last
time it just cycles through a small portion frantically. How do I
find out where the problem is and fix it?
    any clues?
    thanks in advance, Patrick

Hi Patrick and welcome to our community
What product are you using? This is the forum for Adobe
RoboHelp. Your post seems to imply that you are using a Flash
output of some type. Is it FlashHelp? Or are you possibly dealing
with Adobe Captivate? Or maybe Flash itself?

  • Can an error in battery cause a slow CPUS and the fan to run non-stop?

tthe battery need serviced but my computer runs slow and the fan is running non-stop. MacBook Pro 13" purchased around 2011.

OK, you really need to dump that Windows attitude quickly, because what worked over there is completely useless here.  I never understood the "upgrade didn't work obviously, because this or that happened, so how do I downgrade."  I hang out around here, and I haven't seen many comments about fans running full blast after the updates. I did them, and nothing happened.
First, you can't downgrade the firmware EFI update.  I think if you tried, it would brick your MBP.
You could reinstall Lion if you wanted, but that's really a pain, and once again, one of those Windows things that people always do that wastes time.  A security update and Remote Desktop Client (which only runs if you start it up) would not effect your fan speed.
Apple does have "restore points", but it's a real backup system that requires a backup drive.  It's called Time Machine and it's preinstalled on your Mac, easy to use, and allows you to go as far back in time on your Mac as the size of your backup drive will allow.
Now, after all that, let's try to figure out what's going on with your fans.  First, did you do the EFI update correctly?  Meaning did you do it when the MBP was actually plugged into the wall?  What are you running?  Games?  Videos?  Something else?

  • A script in this movie is making Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly

How do I fix this? A script in this movie is making Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly, this is my problem when watching ABC tv shows.  I've got a 13" Macbook Pro i7 with 8g of Ram.  What do you all think is the problem

I get this message which I interpret as saying what it means, the streaming/scripting is to slow to operate that site.
In my case I was gaming(poker) I stopped for a meal and parked at the home page of the site (Skypoker) I went to rejoin a table and got the error.  When I picked YES the screen went into some sort rapid fast loop, when I picked NO it dumped me out completely from the entire site and closed it.   Now I have used this site with no problems at all, I contacted Sky support and he suggested delect temp files, history and reboot--did this no good.  I decided to do a complete scan just in case, no better.  I then decided to RESTORE by a couple of days, this worked but only the once, when I again left and tried to go back same problem.
What mystifies me is nothing altered or changed on the pc or on the site (they asked me to make sure I had version 10 Adobe Flash).  So I decided do download again which I did but had no effect.  Clearly i can't keep on doing restore but why the problem have suddenly arose is still baffeling.   1. why bother with such an error warning if there is no solution or choice of causes to go through to investigate and or fix. 2. If speed is an issue at this point why doesn't the error quantify the problem or Adobe give us a device to measure the errant data stream instead of leaving us high and dry with an effect, probable reason but no supporting data.
Sky appear stumped but obviously they are using Adobe on a commecial footing, I have asked them if they will seek support as so far there seems to be a don't care can't be bothered from Adobe, very disappointing

  • My MacBook Pro is three years old and seems to be running slower. Ideas of what to do?

My MacBook Pro is three years old and seems to be running slower. Any ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software -- potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions -- they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are four lines of text in monospaced type, which are actually shell commands -- little programs. They’re harmless, but they must be used exactly as given in order to work.
First and most important, don’t run these commands until you have verified that they’re legitimate. Never execute shell commands from an untrusted source without knowing what they do, or at least that they don’t do anything harmful. I’ve posted these same commands, with minor variations, many times on this site. You should be able to find other discussions in which they were used without ill effects. Do that before proceeding.
Some of the commands will probably line-wrap in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
To begin, launch the Terminal application; e.g., by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search.
    Step 1
Copy or drag -- do not type -- the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    Step 4
    ls -1A {,/}Library/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Sta}* 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address will appear in the output of the above command. Change it to something like “[email protected]” before posting.
Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • I Cannot Print From Photoshop CC, Performance is SLOW and TYPE causes a problems.

    Hi!
To start, I have noticed HUGE bugs with Photoshop CC on multiple levels on different computers with different setups.
    Computer one
Print Issues:  I am getting this error message "The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing" and "The saved print information is an incompatible version. It has been set to default values.". I have tried deleting the pref file, updating the printer driver, checking print logs and computer updates. All are up to date and running well. When I hit print, the dialog box comes up but will not allow me to change ANYTHING. So I can only print on an 8.5x11. However if i go into the actual printer preferences and change the default settings there, then go to photoshop and print it will allow me to the size I set the defaults at. I can print from any other program without an issue and I did not have any such problems with CS6. What other causes could be the cause of this and what are your suggestions to fix this? It seems to be a Photoshop bug, which is what I have been reading a lot of.  I work off a Dell, windows 8.1 64bit. I would LOVE to downgrade to CS6 but cannot once I upgraded to CC. I did not have this problem when I first upgraded and for a few weeks after.
Performance and Font Issues: This seems(ed) to go hand and hand. But also performance happens more sporadically for some odd reason. The CPU usage and MEMORY went to 100% and photoshop was using 1,860.2 sometimes spiking to 4,000 MB of memory.  I searched all the forums and found that my photoshop was not liking a specific font. I removed the font and things started moving faster. Then a few minutes later, it started to lag again with the same type of CPU and MEMORY spike. I then did more research and found that turning off the font preview has helped, so I turned off that. Photoshop started to work A LOT faster, no lag and seemed to function correctly. The 2 weeks ago, I started to experience the lag again (but without the CPU and MEMORY spike) and with only opening certain files to which none had any fonts that Adobe has said doesn't work with photoshop. I then researched again and found that again, the fonts preview when hoovering over the fonts and having the fonts change in the document was giving issues. Alass...there was my issue, again with the fonts. I then did all the research and did what the forums said such as, try using a brand new doc and create a file with out any of the fonts in the old doc to cause conflicts. NOPE. I was having issues in the new doc and getting this error "Could not complete your request because of program error" then photoshop would lock up because of CPU and MEMORY spike.
    Computer two:
Same issue as computer one's Performance and Font Issues.
Now, I am no programmer nor do I understand that complexity of what goes in to create these programs, but EVERY ADOBE forum I have read will not admit it's a font issue or that there is a problem with the fonts, BUT my WEEKS of issues and research all keep coming back to FONTS when dealing with performance issues. So how can we get a fix on the fonts issue asap as my team nor I cannot work in the current photoshop because of performance issues?
A quick response would be much appreciated!
    Thank you much!
UPDATE: I received a phone call from ADOBE and they said to me that they could send me a CS6 version that i wouldn't have to pay for and would also "Solve My Problem". I said, no thank you being that I have the CC and have access to ALL the programs, so that actually doesn't solve my problem or the overall problem of the CC program. So they escalated my problem and will have someone else respond to me as soon as possible.

  • Adobe and Macromedia running through Rosetta - Is Ram helping?

    Hey folks ~
Man, do I ever have a love affair with Apple. My prized iPod, the laptop that doesn't leave my side...it's sick, really. Here comes the super-rockin MacBook Pro. I watched the keynote with Steve, I read the reviews, I knew what I was getting into.
I'm also a patient man, so let's not take this the wrong way. I read the "what a gyp, this is how I earn my living" post. This isn't that angle.
I have experienced lots of Adobe and Macromedia products (CS2/Studio 8) shutting down and hanging. A lot of slow loading. Adobe Bridge barely eeking out an existence. Mac OSX apps, not so bad. I have 1GB of RAM. Has anyone seen improvement and good performance with more RAM? Anyone else having these problems?
Oh, and taking the battery out and holding the power key to reset PRAM totally works to keep it running cooler.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Speaking of swap file sizes, I run menu meters, and I have had the mac book up and running for 3 days, it sleeps at night, aparently that's what you do with macs ? (Been a PC dweeb for 15 years)
Menu meters is telling me i've gt 8 swap files, that's 2.5 gig, this is too much right ? I should reboot to clear some out ? I use Dreamweaver and Word tonnes, are these Rosetta apps gonna be rinsing my hard disk for swap space ?
I've got the stock 512 megs of ram, I was going to get a single 1 gig chip soon, like end of the month. I know I'll loose the dual channel stuff by not having equal sized chip yada yada - apparently this is only like a 3% drop in performance ? Or should I not waste any time and just get two 1 gig chips to gimme 2 gig in total soonest ?
    Cheers

  • Why Does 3D Reposse cause crashes and work so slow?

Why Does 3D Reposse cause crashes and work so slow?   I get the pinwheel of death when I use this feature.  It works at a snails pace.  I liked the 3D Type effects in iIllustrator.  Why couldn't Adobe have added all the Reposse features to Illustrator instead of craming all these new features into Photoshop?
They're worthless if the program needs an hour to process every selection.

What are your OS specs, your Video Card and your Preferences > Performance settings?
Why Does 3D Reposse cause crashes and work so slow?
My guess would be because it has to create a whole bunch of polygons and your computer-set-up may be insufficient for the task.

  • AME runs CPU at 100 percent and exports very slow

I'd like to find out if there's something I have set incorrectly, either in AME or in the computer's settings. I regularly export videos from 1-4 hours in length. They are very basic (single camera, one layer, no effects, basically adding a title intro and outro screen to unedited interviews and lectures, and exporting for YouTube) The computer seems to take much longer than necessary to export these videos in AME (I'm currently waiting through a 4 hour video that has been encoding for 19 hours, with estimated 8 hours remaining) and it runs at 100% CPU usage while encoding.
Here are some details on my setup:
Computer: Dell Precision M6500 (mobile workstation)
    Processor: Itel Core i7 CPU
    RAM: 8 GB
OS: 64 bit running Windows 7
    Free disc: 110GB of 284GB
This system was purchased by my employer for the sole purpose of editing and exporting video. Is this a competent setup? Its about a year old now, and seemed to be a bit quicker with the encoding/exporting when it was new.
Here's the details on the current project I'm waiting to encode/export:
    - 4 hour video timeline (comprised of four 1-hour Quicktime MOV videos sequenced in a single layer/track timeline) each Quicktime video is under 500MB
    - exporting H.264 Preset "YouTube HD" (VBR 1 pass, and all the following unchecked: render max depth, render max quality, use previews, use frame blending)
    - exporting by "queue" with estimated file size 9624MB
The 1 hour files I received to put in my timeline are Quicktime this time, but I also receive AVCHD files, MPEGs, and other types, all with equally long encode/export times)
Any suggestions or ideas will help....if nothing else to pass the time while I wait for this export!! Thanks

Thanks very much for the input! Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated!
Bill - so you are saying I need 3 disc drives to operate Premiere? My computer actually worked very well initially with its single HD, but I'm lloking into adding HD.
As for RAM, Adobe said minimum is 1 or 2 GB, but recommended 4. So having 8GB is double that! Are you saying that you need 12 times the minimum to run this software normally?
The GPU is NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M - the Mercury option is greyed out in Premiere, so I can't choose it to change it from "software only" Does this NVIDIA card not work with Mercury?
As for excess junk on the computer, the amount of material on there is constantly changing. Just depends on whether I'm on location or back at my office. The only software I have on it is things I use (mostly Microsoft Office apps and Adobe suite apps)
Rallymax - I'll try to run Task Manager again while I export video next time. The CPU was running near 100% usgae while encoding before, but I didnt take note of  "Disk Que Length"
What seemed to be happening was that the system would start up a long encoding project, and shortly after starting, it would bog down and start adding hours to the remaining time. I talked with Dell, and they had me run RealTemp and check the Dell diagnositcs Thermal Control Panel. The computer was running very hot, and they sent out a tech to replace the fans and heatsink. The computer, while only a year old, had taken on tons of dust, and the tech cleaned out cotton ball sized dustballs. He then replaced the fans/heatsink, and the system has been running much smoother ever since. I guess the system was starting fine, then overheating, and running slow for the duration of the encoding process as a result. Any ideas for a good small office air purifier/dust remover? The tech said this is a common problem, and nothing can be done about it.
Along the way, I did manage to convince my workplace to pick up 16 more GB of RAM for me, which now brings me to 24GB total. If anyone knows how I can get the Mercury business working let me know. And thanks again for your help!

  • Cron running Perl script causes Out Of Memory at 63000kb

    Hi,
I run a script to record an internet steam at set times using cron (i'm using icecream, a perl script). This runs fine when executed by 'at' or manually form the command line, but when it is started by cron it dies with the error 'Out of memory!'. The machine isn't extremely powerful but is more than capable of doing this simple task!
From my research I understand that it may have something to do with the /etc/security/limits.conf file, though apparently changing these values often don't have the desired effects.
The output of 'ulimit -a' is as follows (I can't see any limiting factors here):
    [aratclif@server ~]$ ulimit -a

No, the files are all the same. It seems like just a few are causing the issue, and what's weird, is some of them are cut versions from clips that elsewhere in the timeline render fine.
