Adobe audition 1.5 - USB recording interface?

I want to get a USB Recording Interface for my computer but am unsure if Adobe Audition 1.5 has USB options.  When I select a track input I see no USB option.
I guess my computer's audio default program is Santa Cruz and I see no USB option there either.  Also, can Adobe Audition 1.5, if it does have a USB option, separate multiple signals (instruments) coming through
one USB input and put them onto different tracks simultaneously?  Basically what I am asking is if a USB recording Interface works with Adobe Audition 1.5.
Thank you!

You will only be able to record multiple instruments on to different tracks if you get a USB audio interface that accepts multichannel input/output. USB 2 audio devices can support a pretty high number of simultaneous channels. Although, as Bob mentions, you really need a ASIO driver supporting audio interface to get more than a couple of audio channels going at once.
But having said all that I have had up to 8 channels working OK with AA 1.5 if the device has good support for Windows WDM audio drivers which 1.5 does support.

I am considering purchasing the Mac mini for home studio audio production using Adobe Audition and a USB microphone.  Will the base mini model run these programs?

The base mini has 4GB and a 5400 RPM hard drive. It is slow to start up and slow to launch large application such as Word (and I'd assume Adobe Audition) due to the slow drive. I've not used a new 4GB model, just the 8GB model, and the 8GB model (except for the slow drive) handles everything I've thrown at it, including running Photoshop, Word, Safari, and Mail at the same time but there is sometimes a delay switching between programs as the swapfile is updated. Overall I was not happy with the 5400 RPM drive (perhaps because I have MBA and iMac with Fusion drive) so I eventually upgraded it with an SSD. Now the mini is truly a warrior.

  • How do you setup adobe audition 3.0 to record vocal?

    hi,
I just bought some equipment for recording vocal but have no idea how to setup adobe audition 3.0 to actually pickup sound from my mic.
So i have my microphone connecting to the interface which connects to my computer.
Microphone: Audio Technica AT2020 XLR cord
Interface: M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB connection
The M-Audio fast track pro CD was useless, it said it wouldnt install on my Vista 32bit so I just downloaded the vista 32bit driver which worked perfect. I also downloaded the ASIO4ALL v2 driver since my computer only has an intergrated soundcard. (Realtek High Definition Audio, Screaming Bee Audio) I dont know why there is 2. But i have no idea how to get audition working and pick up sound. I went into audio hardware setup and clicked the ASIO4ALL v2 driver in Edit view tab, multitrack view and surround encoder but still no sound picked up. Ill post up some pictures of how it looks. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

sorry for being so stupid, I'm a beginner to all this and is still learning so please don't be too harsh on me.

I use a different model of M-Audio interface so I don't know if this applies to the Fast Track Pro, but...
I've noticed that mine can be fussy about the order of power up and if I boot the computer then connect the interface, Windows doesn't always detect it's presence.  I now have a switch on procedure that I follow without thinking:  I turn on the audio interface, make sure it's connected to the PC and only then boot the PC.  This seems to make sure the M-Audio device is always detected.
Although I have Asio4All installed, I just use the M-Audio drivers.  Make sure the drivers you want are selected in the Audio Hardware setup window, then go through and then select your inputs in Edit and Multitrack windows.

  • Problem with Adobe Audition 2.0 and recording from a 1212m.

I bought a brand new machine and have be configuring it all week. Everything has been going well, except getting Adobe Audition 2.0 (the new version) to “hear” sound from the 1212m.
The intel 975 motherboard has an integrated HD sound system already on board and I have been able to get adobe audition to recognize it and record from it. This is what I have Windows XP Pro set to as my default sound card.
I installed the 1212m and I have gotten my monitors to work by using the XLR jacks on the monitors to the ¼ inch jacks on the 1212m using a VST (NI’s Kontakt 2) as the audio source. So it works.
What I can’t seem to get to work is getting Adobe Audition to “hear” the sound coming from the 1212m.
Patchmix seems to be working ok. The audio bars jump each time I hit a note on the keyboard.
I have configured Audition by going to Audio Hardware Setup and setting it to EMU ASIO and tried every combination of INPUT and OUTPUT, but when I hit the Record button in Audition it just flat lines..
I was hoping that once the audio made it from the VST though the 1212m and out to the speakers, that getting Audition to record it would be easy, but that hasn’t been the case.
The Intel 955 Extreme Edition and the 975 motherboard are brand new and I’m worried that being on the bleeding edge of technology, that one of the drivers isn’t working correctly and causing me hours of debugging a problem that is unworkable from my end.
Hopefully the problem is just some small stupid thing that I’m doing or failing to do (like normal).
    Any ideas would be helpful.
    thanks

I'm just saving it into a file in "My documents" on the internal hard drive. It's a computer in the office which has been used my other people before me and I have my own file which I was always able to save Adobe sound files into before, so I don't think it's anything to do with me not being allowed or read-only.
I've also been trying to save it onto USB hard drives. This works when I save it under a different name, but not when I'm just trying to update a file i've been working on. Basically I have to create a new file everytime I add something, so like "myaudit1", "myaudit2", "myaudit3" etc etc, even though it's the same piece of work just updated.
    Hope that makes sense!

  • Adobe Audition is cracking while recording voice.

I am running a few different computers with Adobe Audition for my radio station, we just transitioned over from Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and one computer is giving me an issue with crackling when recording. The thing is I am running Cool Edit Pro on the same computer and the cracking does not happen when recording to that program. I've been running through many different settings within Audition, and I don't really see any difference in the way the programs hardware are mapped. Any ideas?

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 only records in left channel

Greetings!  I've got a Blue Yeti Pro mic hooked into an ART Tube MP Project Series USB pre-amp/interface (using XLR connection from mic - USB to computer).  When I record voice in Audition 3.0 it only records on the left channel for some reason.  I thought it might be the mic or preamp, so I downloaded Audacity to double-check with another program.  With Audacity I got a perfect 2-channel mono recording.  Any help on why Audition 3.0 is only recording on left channel would be appreciated.  I'm stumped.  Thanks!  Cheers!  mrc

As you are only using one mic then, as you say, you should be able to record it in mono. Audition defaults to stereo so if you want to record a mono source you have to make sure that you have the mono input for your USB interface selected as source, not the default stereo one. Usually Audition list the stereo sources first in the hardware set up panel, so you need to scroll down the list of inputs to find the mono ones. Stereo ones are called something like Art 1 &2 S etc. and the mono ones Art 1 M and Art 2 M.
Normally when recording a mono source it needs to be saved as a mono file using only one track, not as Audacity does which records a mono source onto two tracks and saving a stereo file which takes twice as much storage space.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 "Audio Hardware Settings" for USB Audio Interface HELP!

    Hi guys.
I’m after some help in the internal settings of Adobe Audition 3.0 whilst I’m trying to run my condenser mic through my ART USB Dual Pre.
I have the USB Dual Pre all set up in my Windows 7 set up (it automatically becomes the default recording device when it’s plugged in), phantom power enabled, XLR cable plugged into the right socket of the two available (is there any difference? I’m just recording voice tracking for radio announcements), headphones plugged into the monitoring jack at the back. Levels are turned up enough that they will pick up the noise, if there was any.
I go to the “edit” tab in Adobe Audition 3.0, hit record and nothing comes up. I’m not getting any sound at all registered on the computer. I’ve downloaded and installed Asio4All, but can’t for the life of me figure out the configuration within the “Edit > Audio Hardware Setup” to make the damn thing pick up my voice. There’s mention of Audio Drivers (Asio4All or Audition 3.0 Windows Sound), USB Audio Codecs, Input/Output… it’s enough to make a man who’s not very good at this sort of thing cry (ie. Me).
Could anybody help a body out, please? I think I’ve done everything right except the configuration within Audition itself. A helping hand would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

    Hey there,
Thanks for your reply! I'm not too good at describing what I'm doing, so I've taken screenshots of all the options in "Edit > Audio Hardware Settings" under Edit View and Multitrack view. They include both Audio Drivers available (which were Asio4All and Audition 3.0 Windows Sound) and the associated Default Input/Output options, as well as the Audio Driver control panels and the options that were checked/unchecked on them.
If anybody could tell me how to configure this so I can actually record from my USB Dual Pre, that would be one better than I can do!
    Thanks heaps.

  • Adobe Audition 1.5 (Editing & Mastering Vocals)

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew and I am brand new to the forum.
I use adobe audition 1.5 to record songs (hip-hop) and whatnot, but when I edit the vocals, it does not sound any better than recording it. I already know that it depends on the sound card you have and the mic you use. I use a MXL USB.006 microphone. Regardless of the equipment, I was wondering what effects are recommended when editing vocals and all that. If anyone can give me full details on what i should use and all that good editing stuff, it would be appreciated. Thank you..

Can't, really. This is because we have no idea of what your tracks sound like, for a start. And absolutely all vocals sound different, and therefore need treating differently. There is no 'standard' processing for any vocal at all - simply because to get a good vocal result involves making it sit correctly in your track, and we haven't heard it. Most peoples' idea of vocal processing involves compression - but there are several different ways of going about this, and once again, it's all track-dependant.
On top of all that, this isn't really the forum for this sort of question, because it deals primarily with Audition operational problems. You might be rather better served by posting an example in AudioMasters, where you will probably get rather better feedback.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire multitrack problem

I have the Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire mixer and am using Adobe Audition CS6 for my recording program.
I'm trying to connect 4 microphones via XLR and have them run in individual channels in Audition but I can't get more than 2 to show up on the program even though I have 3 plugged in right now. On top of that, I have to run input 1 and input 2 as mono channels instead of stereo channels to get it to work at all.
I'm looking to do a Podcast with my set up, is there a better program to use to record and edit? Or am I missing a driver for Audition or the Multi Mix?
    Thanks!

Well, first the easy bit.  Microphones ARE mono devices so using mono channels is absolutely correct.
Beyond that, you mention drivers.  There are no special drivers for Audition but it is worth going to http://www.alesis.com/multimix8firewire to see if there are any driver updates for your mixer.
You don't mention what Operating System you're using but whichever it is, you should go to the Audio Setup page for Windows (i.e. not in Audition) and make sure it's detecting all the channels from the Alesis properly.  You may have to set the Alesis as your default audio device for this.
On the Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware Setup menu in Audition, make sure you have the proper device type selected--I'd guess ASIO for a start.  Make sure your Alesis is selected as the default hardware.
On the Edit/Preferences/Audio Channel Mapping menu, make sure you can see all the channels from your Alesis.
Finally, on the Multitrack screen, set the Input for each track to be the appropriate channel from the Alesis.  If you're going to do this regularly, I recommend you get everything set up then save it as a Session template.
And I can't think of anything better than Audition for what you want to do...that's why it's used in thousands of radio stations around the world!

  • M-Audio Delta 192 Sound Card With Adobe Audition

I have a m-audio sound card and a mackie pro fx8 mixer, I am running windows7 64-bit. I was wondering how I need to set my preferences in Adobe Audition? When hitting record I am not recording my audio

Make sure that you have the M-Audio ASIO drivers installed. Then under Audition's Preferences/Audio Hardware select ASIO for Device Class and M-Audio ASIO for Device. Under Audio Channel Mapping select appropriate M-Audio inputs and outputs. If you are trying to record in the Mutitrack window make sure you select the correct input for each track. It will probably say Default Stereo Input but you can click on that and select any of the inputs that are available from the Delta 192.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 and Pinnacle 700 USB - How to record audio from VHS tapes???

    Hi Friends,
I am new to Adobe Audition 3.0. I need your help.
Actually I am having a old Pinnacle 700 USB capture card. I want to record some audio in my computer by Adobe Audition.
I downloaded and installed required driver for Pinnacle 700 USB (for Vista).
But when I tried to capture audio from my VHS tapes, It not showing proper options. I don't know how to proceed further.
Could any one please help me... Please let me know what all I need to do.
    Waiting for your helpful suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Yash

The Pinnacle is a video capture device and as such captures the video and audio into one MPEG or DV stream. Audition can't see it as an audio card and therefore can't capture audio directly from your video source. However once you have captured a video file using the Pinnacle you can probably get to the audio by using the Open Audio from Video command in the File menu in Audition.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 Help Needed!

    Hey Everyone!
I have an iMac that I'm running Adobe Audition CS6 on and need some help with getting it to recognize my Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 mixer. Mind you, I have no idea why Audition only lists "Internal Microphone" as my only choice under "Audio Hardware," so every ounce of help will be much appreciated!
So basically, how do I get Adobe Audition CS6 to recognize my Alesis mixer as audio hardware to let me record through it?

I'm not a Mac user but a quick look on the Alesis site suggests you may need to installed specialist Mac drivers, available here:  MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 Integrated USB 2.0 audio interface and mixer
Edited to add...it wouldn't take a direct link but if you click on "Documents and Downloads" you should get what you need.

  • Is it possible to record from 2 different mics in adobe audition?

I have a blue snowball mic and a blue yeti mic and I want to record from both on the same computer (co-hosting a podcast). Is that possible in adobe audition without a mixer board?
    Thanks!

Whilst it's possible to record as many ordinary mics as you want at once in Audition using a sound device capable of supporting them, it's not possible to use more than one USB mic at a time very easily, if at all. And even if you could get something like ASIO4ALL to recognise both at once, you'd still need to have the OS resample them, because they wouldn't have synchronised clocks, and this will inevitably lead to loud clicks at inappropriate places. And in Windows at least, I don't think that's possible at all, and even if it was I'm not sure that it would have them on seperate channels. In short, I'm pretty sure that it won't work. People seem to have a lot of problems with just using a single USB mic, never mind two of them...
Apparently on a Mac it's easier to aggregate USB mics, but you'd still run into the problem of synchronising them, because each does its own digitising, with no external clock reference.
If you want to use two mics at once, then absolutely the best way to do this is to use either a sound device that supports two mics, and use ordinary mics with it, or get a small mixer with a USB output, and mix a pair of ordinary mics in that. If you want to keep the channels separate, then all you have to do is pan one mic to the left channel, and the other to the right - you can arrange a better mix during editing.

  • !Can you record live while game playing with adobe audition? PLEASE HELP!

Can you record live while game playing with adobe audition? I have a youtube channel and I want to record voice as I'm playing of course and cancel out the noise maybe put a nice effect on it.. But how do I do this? Please help! I only see ones for recording like after.. But I want to record it as it's happening is this possible!? it has to be. thanks *ADOBE AUDITION CC*

That'll depend on the capabilities of the sound card/audio interface you're using.  If that interface can feed the right things to Audition, it can record it.  For just the game, look for "Wave Out" or "What U Hear" on the list of audio sources but not every system has this.  Also, if you want to record your own contributions as well as the game sound, that gets more complex too.
I know that there are specialist pieces of software that are designed to record live gameplay (which don't rely simply on your local sound card).  I know of a couple called "Action!" and "XSplite" but I have not personal experience with either.
However, before going that direction, check out the "Record Devices" menu in your sound system and see what it allows.
