Adobe Audition 3 and Creative X-FI

Hi Guys,
Hope you can help me, I've been quietly pulling my hair out for the last 5hours...
I used to have a ZS Platnium setup! worked perfect no problems at all...It died recently so i purchased a Creative X-FI ...
I have also Upgraded to windows 7 and im using Adobe Audition 3....
The Problem I have is that it wont record any playback, I've stuffed around with the options numerous times (edit > audio hardware setup)
http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/e...itionsetup.jpg
see the picture it just seems like its missing something.... any option I pick as soon as i hit record theres nothing...
Example....
Ill start playing an MP3, I open audition, hit record.... and it doesnt record anything... previously you can choose the whole "what you hear" setting, but it doesnt have it ...
any help will be awesome... as Ive been using audition for years! and at the moment Im thinkin bout either chucking this sound card in or going back to XP and trying it...
Thanks

Sorry but I didn't get what are you trying to do there.
Try this:
- load the mp3 file into first track of Audition,
- arm the second/nth track for recording ... what ever you're trying to record (instrument I suppose)
- start recording
Use native X-Fi ASIO drivers. To monitor, just turn monitoring on (this way you hear both/all tracks (your input too).

  • There is an issue with Adobe Audition CC and OS 10.8.4. Audition will not open?

Apparently there is a problem with Adobe Audition CC and 10.8.4. Audition worked in 10.7 with no problem but after installing 10.8.4 it no longer opens.

might want to ask, did you clone ML with 10.8.3 before upgrading to 10.8.4? sometimes there are issues, and there are with .4 so having a clone of your system prior to update is important. Same for how long to keep a clone of 10.7.5 or even 10.6.8.
if you practice keeping boot drive small it is easy to make a system restore image 50-150GB and keep it somewhere.
CCC clones not just the system but the recovery partition.
keeping all your data and media off the boot drive helps in other ways, like managing maintenance and performance.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire choppy playback

I recorded a whole podcast using both Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire, and I originally played it back it was fine.  Now after a week I play it back in Adobe Audition and the dialogue is choppy and repeating itself constantly every second.   When I export it in a multitrack mixdown as a WAV file it still does the same choppy repeating thing.  Has anyone else run into this problem who has a fix?
    Thanks!

I don't use any Alesis products but have heard rumours in another forum that they're having some driver issues.
Maybe as an experiment you could export to a wave file and try playing that through your internal sound card rather than the Multimix.  If playback is clean when not involving the Multimix that may suggest the problem lies in the Alesis gear.  If the skipping is still there then something is likely going on within Audition.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 Help Needed!

    Hey Everyone!
I have an iMac that I'm running Adobe Audition CS6 on and need some help with getting it to recognize my Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 mixer. Mind you, I have no idea why Audition only lists "Internal Microphone" as my only choice under "Audio Hardware," so every ounce of help will be much appreciated!
So basically, how do I get Adobe Audition CS6 to recognize my Alesis mixer as audio hardware to let me record through it?

I'm not a Mac user but a quick look on the Alesis site suggests you may need to installed specialist Mac drivers, available here:  MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 Integrated USB 2.0 audio interface and mixer
Edited to add...it wouldn't take a direct link but if you click on "Documents and Downloads" you should get what you need.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire multitrack problem

I have the Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire mixer and am using Adobe Audition CS6 for my recording program.
I'm trying to connect 4 microphones via XLR and have them run in individual channels in Audition but I can't get more than 2 to show up on the program even though I have 3 plugged in right now. On top of that, I have to run input 1 and input 2 as mono channels instead of stereo channels to get it to work at all.
I'm looking to do a Podcast with my set up, is there a better program to use to record and edit? Or am I missing a driver for Audition or the Multi Mix?
    Thanks!

Well, first the easy bit.  Microphones ARE mono devices so using mono channels is absolutely correct.
Beyond that, you mention drivers.  There are no special drivers for Audition but it is worth going to http://www.alesis.com/multimix8firewire to see if there are any driver updates for your mixer.
You don't mention what Operating System you're using but whichever it is, you should go to the Audio Setup page for Windows (i.e. not in Audition) and make sure it's detecting all the channels from the Alesis properly.  You may have to set the Alesis as your default audio device for this.
On the Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware Setup menu in Audition, make sure you have the proper device type selected--I'd guess ASIO for a start.  Make sure your Alesis is selected as the default hardware.
On the Edit/Preferences/Audio Channel Mapping menu, make sure you can see all the channels from your Alesis.
Finally, on the Multitrack screen, set the Input for each track to be the appropriate channel from the Alesis.  If you're going to do this regularly, I recommend you get everything set up then save it as a Session template.
And I can't think of anything better than Audition for what you want to do...that's why it's used in thousands of radio stations around the world!

The only upgrade to 3 is the 3.0.1 bugfix. Generally Auditio works fine with 32-bit W7, but results with 64-bit have, from the reports recieved, been variable. I wouldn't put Vista on a machine at all - it's dreadful.

You can audtenticate Audition on a total of two machines, but you are only allowed to use it on one at a time (it says in the licence conditions). You can transfer authentication though - so you could remove it from your old machine, and re-authenticate in on the new one.

  • Hello! I have just bought Adobe Audition CS6 and I'm having trouble installing it.

Whenever I install it I keep getting the message that it  "Failed to install Microsoft Visual C   2008 Redistributable Package (x86)" So I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the package. That would not work either. How do I get both to work? It cost a lot of money to get this software and I would really like to use it properly. Thank you for reading.
This is the note I get whenever I try to install the program:

Without knowing anything about your system we can't even begin to advise. These libraries are used by gigazillions of programs and even device drivers, so the most plausible explanation is that one of those other tools has installed an incompatible version or has flagged them as critical so they cannot be arbitrarily removed by other installers. Either way, this is nothing that can be solved easily. Also not that you have a "display requirements not met" error there, which may point to a configuration issue with your graphics hardware and potentially cause the collateral issue with the MSVC libraries.

  • Adobe Audition cd and track name error

How do you establish a unique CD name and track names when burning audio to a CD in Adobe Audition CC?  When I drag files with unique names into a track layout and burn audio to a CD, the audio is fine but the CD name and the track names always get labeled with the same data of unknown origin listed below:
Auctions / Harris Real Estate (CD Name)
01 All The Lovers (Fear of Tibers Remix)
02 All The Lovers (Dada Life Remix)
03 ll the Lovers (Dada Life Full Vocal Remix)
04 All the Lovers (Dada Life Dub Remix)
05 All the Lovers (Dada Life Instrumental Remix)
I have attempted to modify properties, metadata, track names, CD Text, etc. to no avail.  If I import the same files into iTunes and burn a CD from that application, all the names are correct.

By the way I am using MAC OS 10.10.2 and Adobe Audition CC Version 6.0.  The erroneous names are showing up in the Finder Window or if I attempt to import the burned CD into iTunes.

  • Adobe Audition 6 and Mackie MCU Pro Control Surface

I have recently opbtained a Mackie MCU Pro Control Surface, for use with Adobe Audition CS6. At first I used it with an HP i7 running Windows 8. It worked like a dream, doing everything that I expected of it. Now, I have plugged it to my Laptop, running Windows 7 Home Premium. Sadly it refuses to respond to any commands in either direction. The PC giives the two-note ackowledgment that the USB is comminucating. However, that's as far as it goes.
Audition on the laptop knows what's connected and all options offer the USB connected device correctly named. Whatever I do, there is no sign of the Mackie MCU Pro waking up. It just seems to sit there, probably thinking it's a 'fridge or a toaster.
Has anyone else used this combination and did it work OK? I'm sure I'm mssing something obvious and there's an 'enable' of some sort. Can anyone offer any thoughts?
Thabk you for your time and help.
    Alan

I have completely reset the Laptop (Packard Bell Easynote) to factory defaults and reinstalled Audition from scratch. It is now exactly the same as that installed on the desktop, except that the Laptop is Windows 7 (64-bit Home Premium) and the Desktop is Windows 8.
I was hopeful that a fresh install of Audition CS6 would set the Mackie Control Surface off and running. Sadly, it is not the case.
    So:
With precisely the same software (same source and same S/N) the Mackie worlks correctly with the Desktop but doesn't work at all with the laptop.
Just for the record, when plugging the USB from the Mackie to the laptop, it produces the usual two-tone acknowledgement that it is seeing something it recognises, but that is as far as it goes.
I'm now at a loss. Does anyone have any further thoughts?
    Many thanks,
    Alan

  • Adobe Audition 6 and Euphonix Controller V2

    Hi,
I am using my V2 Euphonix controller with Adobe Audition 6, that works fine. The 4 faders are attached to the volume indicators of channel 1-4 in Mutltitrack view.
I am using Adobe to record radioshows. My voice on track 2, the music on track 1. While recording my voice on 2 I listen to the track-1 song, so that I can adjust my speaks to the intro of the record. Later I fine-tune that. Would be handy if I could use  the track-1 fader to adjust the volume of track 1 while speaking, because at that moment I have the best 'feeling' on how the mix should be. But that seems not possible? In other words: Is it possible to attach the faders to the volume envelopes  (yellow lines) of a track?
    Thanks,
    Henk
    http://www.henkleppers.nl

The faders can be attached to separate Automation lanes, not the standard on waveform ones. To access these click on the twirl down arrow icon bottom left of track header beside the Read box. This will expose the full automation lanes. But you will probably need to read up on the help files how to record and playback the automation from there with your controller.

  • Adobe Audition 3 and Guitar rig 2?

    Will these 2 work together?
I use Cubase normally but I would like to try Audition.
I would like to record a clean guitar track and then apply Guitar rig as vst or whatever will work.
    Is it possible?

According to the Native Instruments website Guitar Rig 2 has both DirectSound and ASIO drivers.
Audition works with ASIO so you can either use the native ASIO driver or wrap the DirectSound driver with the Audition 3.0 Windows Sound or the ASIO4ALL WDM wrappers.
Of course you could download the Audition v3 trial and try it yourself (assuming you already own Guitar Rig 2).

  • Problem with Adobe Audition CC(2014) / Install

    Hello,
I have a problem with my subscription to Adobe Audition CC. I paid a monthly subscription to adobe audition CC and now, when I want to use it, the program wants a serial number. I don't have any serial key. I've just my mail subscription confirmation. When I go to Creative Cloud, it notices that my application is install but I can't access to it. What can I do?
    Thank you. @

  • Adobe Audition Interchange folder has gigabytes of files

In Windows, it's under Users-myname-adobe-Adobe Audition Interchange and I cannot believe I didn't find anything related to this on Google or elsewhere. That's really why I am writing this, for others' future reference, and also so this folder stays on my radar to clean manually.
There are subfolders left over from two projects in there, amounting to over 66 gigabytes of data, rendered and extracted audio and silent video files from multicamera shoots of  some plays and concert.
Is this something that I can delete with impunity having archived these projects?
Or even in the middle of an Adobe Premiere project after I have edited the audio and sent it back in?
Why didn't Audition clean up after? An untimely crash (that I don't remember having) or just poor temp file management? The files cover half a dozen different editing days.
This folder isn't mentioned in the Audition temp paths or cache dialogs, it turned up because I am trying to reclaim disk space and a file search found two 16 gb video files created when I was mixing, etc. As I said, no  mention of the path online, this forum, or the help file.
Wondering where else Adobe stashes files that I won't need later but doesn't delete them, There are a few extra imported audio files just above this one too.
If anybody has tips, bring them on.
    Thanks,
    megawatson.

It is definitely a Creative Suite interaction issue, as you have to be sending something to Audition from elsewhere, so it's likely fair to blame Premiere, but that is not where the leftover folder lives. (I've also sent Captivate files to Audition and returned them with great results and no leftover files.)
I was hoping that any edits that may be in these folders were reflected in the Premiere project folders and not just referenced back to the Interchange folder, or at the very least copied into my archive when I Project Manager-backed it up ....
So how are Audition edits saved in Premiere? The answer:
This article goes over the differences between:
    1) "Edit Clip in Audition" (a round trip process that automatically brings it back into Premiere and updates the file there)
    or
    2) editing sequences (not updated unless you export from Audition and import back to Premiere - this can be done inside the programs:  After editing, choose Multitrack > Export to Premiere Pro, and in Premiere follow the dialog to Copy tracks from Audition and place them in the project
    http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/premiere/essential-tips-for-premiere-editors-working-with-a udition
In my case I am confident that I used "Edit Clip" because I was quite thrilled about the feature, and actually after I was done editing, polished it in Multitrack with the second method!
So I can safely delete these files, presuming a Premiere crash or ill-timed closure caused them not to be deleted automatically.

  • STARTING Adobe Audition CC

Ok..The program is installed.  How on earth do I START the program?  I click on the Adobe Audition CC, and nothing happens.  The program doesn't start, period.  NORMALLY, when a program is installed, ALL you have to do is click on the icon, and the program starts.
NOT so with Adobe Audition.  I installed it, per the instructions.  It updated and installed.  WHAT do I DO to RUN this program?  It does nothing and there's nowhere to click to START the program.  What did I do WRONG?  There's no shortcut on my desktop.  That's the other thing.  ALL programs install a shortcut on the desktop that you just click, and the program starts running.  Not this one.
If there's a shortcut for Adobe Audition CC, I can't find it, and the icon in the Creative Cloud does absolutely nothing.  How am I supposed to USE this program if it doesn't start, after being installed and updated?  What am I missing here?

    Hi wolflover1968,
Kindly specify the Operating System that you are so that we can assist you appropriately.
Meanwhile, try the following steps if you have a windows PC.
Check if you have Audition CC installed in "Programs and Features".
Open the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features
If you do not see Audition CC there, please follow the below mentioned link :
CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed
If you see that it is listed under Program and features, then try the below  mentioned steps.
Try to reset the preference : Restoring the default settings for Audition CS6
Give Full control permissions to the following folders
                    C:\Program Files\Adobe\
                    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
                    C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
Please revert if the problem still persists.
    Thanks,
