Adobe Audition CC 2014 - Fade In/Out to playhead?

Hello all,
My question is this: In a multitrack session (or in waveform editor) I want to be able to tell Audition to fade in/out to the playhead. At present, I can set a shortcut to "Clip--Fade In(Out) Normal". However, when I use said shortcut in a multitrack session Audition makes a fade in/out of a predetermined length (appx 16 sec). If anyone knows how to adjust this please let me know, otherwise let this thread stand as a feature request.
Thanks.

I think you misunderstand the question. I know how to draw a volume envelope. Here's what I want to do:
Right now to use the automatic fades that are present on each clip I have to grab the box and draw it out. Now, as I said before, there are keyboard shortcuts that will activate this without having to draw it out. I have done this by going to the keyboard shortcut editor, finding "Clip--Fade In (or Out) Normal" and assigning Alt-G to it. If I use my assigned shortcut now it makes a fade that seems to be set at random, probably in relation to the overall length of the selected clip (longer clip=longer fade). What I would like it to do is exampled by the pic above, simply give me a fade in/out in relation to where the playhead is on the selected clip. This would be similar if one was in ProTools (with a-z mode) and types "D" (Fade from start) or "G" (Fade to end). If this option isn't available it should be on a future release.

  • ITU.R BS.1770-3 Loudness not implemented in Adobe Audition CC 2014 Amplitude Statistics

The amplitude statistics feature in Adobe Audition CC 2014 is a great tool to quickly analyze the long-term loudness; however, it is currently using an old standard (BS.1770-2) that has been replaced by the new BS.1770-3 for about a year or so now.  Is there any reason why Adobe has not updated the amplitude statistic tool to BS.1770-3?  I noticed that in the Adobe Audition training videos the TC Electronic Radar is mentioned, which does have the current LKFS reading standard but it is in real-time.  While useful, it slows you down since you have to sit through the entire program to get the LKFS reading, unlike the amplitude statistics that scans the file quickly.  Please advise.

The Loudness Radar meter is a passive meter, and doesn't affect the audio signal in any way.
When the Match Volume and Amplitude Statistics support for ITU-based loudness was implemented, 1770-2 was the most recent specification.  Since then, 1770-3 has been released which makes some minor modifications.  I've recently chatted about this with our engineering team, and form my understanding the primary difference in -3 is a simplification of the definition of True Peak Level.  All loudness measurements and adjustments continue to be the same as the -2 spec.  The update is on in our feature backlog, however, and will be prioritized with other feature work.

  • HELP! adobe audition cc 2014, wont play no matter what,

The other day I was working on a project and everything was fine the next day when I re opened the project it wouldn't play. As far as i know i didnt change anything. I can move the tracks around and everything is still there but when i click the play button nothing happens, its not greyed out or anything just nothing happens. I tried re starting the program, then re starting the computer, then updating the program, then re installing the program nothing changed. Anyone know what the issue could be

The first thing to check when this sort of thing happens is the audio settings on your sound card/interface.  If you're on Windows, go to the Sound Control panel, click on Playback Devices, highlight the device you're using, hit Properties then advanced and make sure the drop down is set to what you're using.  It's probably worth doing the same series of things in the Recording Devices tab.  Note that, with some external interfaces, you may have to do this in the dedicated software for the interface, not the generic Windows Sound Control panel.
Then go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware and make sure Audition is set to match what you have set on the interface.  Also check the Device Class which is your drivers.  I sometimes find it's best to actively reset the Device class away from what you're using then back.  Make sure you okay/save.
....or, if you're on a Mac, you need to do the same things but I have no idea where the controls are.

  • Adobe Audition CC 2014 Won't Play Anything

It was working fine yesterday, but now when I open my project file, it won't play. I've tried opening other files and nada, nothing will play when I press the play button or hit the spacebar. I unplugged my mic and it still won't play. I've re-started the app numerous times and restarted my laptop as well. Nothing works. I'm using the LATEST version on a Dell PC running Windows 7. Please HELP!

?Try clicking Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware then change the "Master Clock" setting from Output to Input, click Apply, then revert it back to Output and Apply once more and let us know if that has any effect, please.

  • Adobe audition cc 2014.2 keeps crashing when importing

    Does anyone have a solution?

We're going to need a lot more information before we can even try to guess.  Are you on Mac or Windows and what version?  What are you trying to import and where from?  What sort of audio interface and drivers are you using?  Exactly what happens in the crash?
...and anything else you think might be useful.

  • Hello Adobe Audition

    Hi Adobe Audition HQ
I'm several weeks into my adventures with Adobe Audition CC (2014.2) on mac (MacBook Pro and iMac Retina 5k) and it hasn't been easy. So in the spirit of positive development thought I'd pop this up maybe for some discussion, hopefully some answers and maybe a timeline.
I emailed sales via the site over a week ago and not heard anything and sent in a bug report. Also I've had a positive chat yesterday someone from tech support by phone (thank you) - but as yet not managed to get to email or speak to anyone else higher up - as there's no email address.
In a nutshell the current multitrack platform on CC isn't fit for my old workflow from AA3 (running on XP - old school I know!) anymore. The major issue being audio briefly cutting out on editing functions while you are playing back in the multitrack. For example, splitting a file or grouping. This doesn't happen in AA3 and as someone who does hundreds of those kind of edits a day for work I can't have sound dropping out all the time no matter how short that buffer is. I appreciate that some compromise had to be made to make the program work on mac - but this is a major deal breaker/change for me from AA3.
Moving forward. 2 questions - Is there any time frame for this "cut out" to be addressed? And, is there any sign of a lower resolution option to run AA (CC) as well while I'm here as the graphics seem to really struggle on an iMac 5k (even though it is spec'd up the hilt with 32GB RAM and a 4GB video card and i7 processor - and I'm on my second one having sent one back already)??
AA3 is incredible and I have taught AA for several years at a college and used it constantly since 2000 (CoolEdit days!). It has been an incredible radio production platform. Having now paid my subscription to CC I have a DAW I can't use as a multi track and now to keep my business running am having to buy/set up a brand new DAW that does work properly on mac AND then buy a load of additional VST plugin's. That's before the hours/days I've lost trying to sort/find a replacement multitrack.
I'd be delighted to meet/spend some time with any audition developers - just wish there was a way of getting through to speak to someone.
Hope to get some answers - or maybe get some more feedback. Thanks for everyone's thoughts on the other couple of forum posts as well.
Maybe 2014.3 will fix it??! That'd be amazing and in every sense of the word we can go back to business as usual.

    RoninEdits wrote:
it also suggests that AA will only continue to further fall behind the competition.
Depends what you regard as 'competition'. As an editor, it has very little. Certainly not PT, Reaper, Studio One, or any of the music composition software, that's for sure. And the software that might be more realistically compared to it is seriously more expensive. Like Pyramix and Sadie, perhaps (and I'm not convinced that Sadie is really any better...).
If you read the independent reviews, you'll find that the only thing that Audition could do is to fall behind! And I don't think that there's too much danger of that, myself. But, in the same breath I'd also have to say that 'keeping ahead' isn't really what's happening. The reality of the situation is that Audition is part of a suite of software that's primarily video-oriented, and if it's heading in any direction at all, this will be the one. Broadcasters the world over are the primary customers, and it's what they want that will primarily drive forward its development - whether the rest of us like it or not. Personally that doesn't bother me too much - for the range of work I get, it's fine if it continues along this track, even though I don't 'do' video any more.
And no it doesn't do everything I want, either. But a combination of Audition, iZotope's RX and Ozone pretty much do, and that's fine by me.

  • Adobe Audition Will Not Save, Export

    Hello,
I finished a project in Audition last night and went to export it. When I checked on the export process after a few minutes, it was stuck at 0%. I wanted to restart the program to see if that would fix the issue, so I attempted to save the multitrack session, but it still froze at 0%. I noticed that there were 4 files processing according to the status bar at the bottom of the program. I tried to end the processes, which were saving metadata for recorded files. Only one of the files stopped saving, and the other three are stuck at 66% no matter what I do. I woke up this morning to check the progress and all files are still at 66% with the remaining time increasing rather than decreasing.
I'm assuming the issue is that Audition can only process so many files at once, so it won't save or export while the other files are processing. Regardless, I need to find a way to save my project before force quitting the program. I would greatly appreciate any suggested solutions.
I am on Windows 8, using Adobe Audition CC 2014.1 Build 7.1.0.119. Here is a screenshot of what happens when I try to save:
Here is one of the files frozen while saving metadata:

Maybe check to see if there are other (non Audition) processes happening in the background and also maybe check the available disk size of both the drive where the audio is and the drive where your temp files are

The "Edit in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in After Effects CC. I imported an mp3 file into my composition, click on it and the link remains greyed out. The link works fine from Premiere Pro CC to Audtion.
Is there a setting somewhere I need to set?

Figured it out. For whatever reason the .sesx file extension wasn't associated with Adobe Audition on my Windows 7 machine. I changed this by double clicking on an .sesx file and adding the association.

  • CS6 - Edit Clip in Adobe Audition Grayed Out

I used to own the CS5.5 Master Collection Suite, and recently upgraded to CS6. Tonight, for the first time, I am using the new Premiere Pro CS6. Besides a few quirks and buginess, one frustrating issue is that the "Edit in Adobe Audition" option is grayed out when I right-click on any audio file placed in my timeline.
In fact, this option is grayed out even in the Edit menu on the top toolbar, and also for audio files over in my Bins list.
I have verified that Audition CS6 is installed and working.
Could really use some help so that I can edit these audio files in Audition directly from the timeline.

Bug confirmed.  This was reported in an earlier thread.  Advice given was to uninstall and try again. I notice too that in Preferences when looking at how your RAM is spread over the available Adobe programs, Audition doesn't appear.
I hoped the recent update would fix this bug - but, sadly it didn't.

  • CC 2014 Using "Edit in Adobe Audition" question?

In Premiere Pro CC (2014). When I send an audio clip that is an .aif from the timeline to Audition using “Edit in Adobe Audition > Clip”, when it shows up in Audition, the file is a .wav file. Is there a preference that will keep it a .aif file?

Dont know... but possibly an Audition Preference or a workflow actually in Audition for Mixer or Sound File Editor setup
