Adobe Audition cc Constant Crashing (Mac)

Every time I try to export, mix a file, or render a track Adobe Audition crashes. I've tried this with different sessions and I still end up with the same result. Anyone have any ideas!?

Can you send the crash report to [email protected] ?  You can find this by launching Applications > Utilities > Console.app, open "User Diagnostic Reports", then drag the latest Audition entry to an e-mail.
Thanks.

    To the original poster:
If you're wondering about the reception you have received, be aware that, unless you were a beta tester for Adobe (in which case I'm sure you'd have a way of reporting bugs to the developers) there is NO legal way you could have a copy of the Windows version of AA4.0/CS5.5.  Although it has been announced, it will not be shipped until later this month.  Therefore, you must have have a cracked version of an earlier beta--and all bets about functionality are off.
As a side note, it's pretty brave to post on an Adobe forum effectively admitting you have a pirate copy of their software!

The crash log indicates this occurs as Audition is trying to create the temp cache directories.  Is this installation of OS X 10.10 an upgrade from 10.9?  A common issue with OS X upgrades is invalid permissions on some user folders, so it's always worth checking this first.
Launch Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.app and click on your main hard drive, then select "Repair Disk Permissions."  This should scan and correct folder permissions and Audition may launch successfully after.
If this doesn't help, let's verify that Audition's preference files haven't become corrupted during the upgrade.  Open Finder, click Go in the menu, hold down OPTION, and click on Library when it appears in the location list.  Then navigate to Preferences > Adobe > Audition and rename the "4.0" folder to "4.0.BACKUP" or something similar.  Then launch Audition once more and it should rebuild everything to its default settings.
If that still fails, let us know and we can continue troubleshooting.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 Keeps Crashing?

Everytime I record vocals and go to click stop, or anything of the sort (sometimes its even adding effects and other stuff),
at complete random a box comes up on the screen entitling:
Adobe Audition CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution to the problem and will notify you when a solution is found.
and therefore forces me to close the program. This now happens EVERYTIME I record vocals for my music....
Upon start up of audition again this box comes up:
When I click continue, it will open my last recording session but the audio is always missing from the files and I have to re-record everything.
This happens every single time i use audition and its quite frustrating. Ive tried all three buttons but either way i have to restart.
Ive tried the shift trick when you first start the program, and i opened my project but it still continued to do the same thing...
    Any Suggestions?

Well since you've tried the Vanilla startup, the only other option is to uninstall and reinstall the software. If it continues to happen after that, you have a fault in your computer, regardless of whether it's a Mac or PC.

  • Adobe Audition CC keeps crashing(Possibly cash reward if help works) Emergency

Okay so for about 5 months, my adobe audition doesn't work. I can record maybe, 3,4,5 times fine and everything but when i hit the stop (square button in the multi track session) it crashes. A window pops up saying i need to close the program blah blah blah. I have posted this 3 times still no answer some PLEASE help me im beggging you.

I'm sure that you've been told before, but the only thing you can do is locate the fault log (in the preferences folder) and send it to [email protected] - we can't help you with this. Detailed information about this is in the FAQ about it.

  • Constant crashing (Mac) at early stages

Encore used to work great.  I don't make a lot of DVDs, but somewhere around installing CC or CC2014 of Ae, Pr, AME, etc., Encore crashes on Create New Project and I can't get a thing done with it.
I've re-installed the app several times several times, both from the Cloud and also from my CS6 installer .dmgs.
Installer fails from both unless I'm booted into Safe Mode.  That may be a clue to an extension conflict.
I scoured my drive for all Encore prefs and trashed them.
There have been a few times I've gotten to the Import Assets stage, but when I try to create a Timeline... crash.
Somebody please help.  I make videos for a living, and have clients waiting for DVDs and Blu-Rays.

    Hi Stan,
    I appreciate the reply.
As mentioned, I'm on Mac.  I have made a bit of headway.  Before, when getting the crashes, I was importing MPEG-2 that I made in AME.   But, when I imported a ProRes I made from Pr, I was able to make a Timeline and encode it in En with no crashing.
My BR burner is an external FW model.  I have En CS6 on my MacBook Pro.  I was able to make a BRD on it without crashing.  That led me to suspect a driver on my MacPro.  So, I uninstalled my AJA Kona LHi driver, and was able to successfully make a DVD from the MPEG and AAC assets I had compressed in AME.
This is encouraging, but further testing is needed to determine this is conclusive.
Your mention of "video driver" led me to think if uninstalling my AJA driver; so you may have put me on the right path.  Thanks again.

  • Why might Adobe Audition CC be crashing so often

    Hi,
How can I troubleshoot and solve this one?
    The problem:
I used Adobe Audtion CC for a month before purchasing and it crashed a few times but not so often that I was overly concerned.  So I paid my money recently.
Today was a real struggle. The software was crashing every 10 or 20 mins.....and now I am concerned :-(
Instead of starting from scratch today, I started with a template that was generated from a previous project (basically by removing all the audio from the project).
Then the usual sequence of events that immediately preceded a crash was......
I was working all day in the multitrack window.  I would put a new bit of audio on a track, trim the ends and maybe adjust the level...if that didn't cause a crash then often the moment I tried to drag the cursor back to listen to my handiwork it would crash.
If I got a new bit of audio in safely and I had listened to it successfully the software would seem to behave.  However inserting a new bit of audio had me crossing my fingers.  Luckily I was not with a client.
I ended up saving the project every time I made any change for fear of it crashing.
    I'm on a Dell OptiPlex 3020 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Intel Core i5-4570 CPU @ 3.2GHz. 8GB ram.
I'd really like this solved quickly!!
    Can anyone help?
    Any top tips gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Geoff

    Bob,
    Thanks for being so helpful.
The quick answer to your question is no, I haven't tried working without Foobar.  For me that's not a good working solution as I use Foobar all the time.  However your suggestion to try MME instead of WASAPI does seem to have cured the crashing problem.  So I think you've solved my particular headache, thanks.
    RE: Crashes.
Since I've been using the MME audio hardware setting I've not had a single crash and I've worked for many hours with it now. So thanks for your top suggestion, it seems to be working :-)
    RE: Foobar
I hope that adding the Saffire LE firewire box won't affect my use of Foobar.
I don't use Foobar's audio output to feed Audition. I only use it as a browser/player for my SFX (70,000 and growing). Using the Foobar database and search facility I can very quickly find the right SFX. Then I listen to them with Foobar. A Foobar 'component' add-on displays the waveform and placing the cursor on the waveform allows me to jump straight to that part of the audio. Very handy if there are multiple cues within a single file.
Having found the right sound effect I can drag it straight from the Foobar window into Audition. It works really well.
Foobar plays all the file formats under the sun. I keep all relevant SFX info in the filename and don't bother with metadata. No need for Soundminer :-) I've configured Foobar to search filenames only and it does a great job. Search results are displayed almost instantly.
    RE: iPhone app
I'll take a look at it although my old iPhone 3G won't run many recent apps :-)
Anyway, that's enough rambling for one post....
    Thanks again.
    Cheers
    Geoff

  • Adobe audition CC keeps crashing

Everytime i open audition, it runs fine...that is until i try recording. I can record maybe 3,4,5 times before it just crashes and my only option is to click close program. I desprately need help. it worked fine earlier this year but for some reason randomly started doing this.

I'm having this problem as well.  Audition worked fine for until the latest up date in sept. Now it runs fine for 5-10 min and stops working.  It isn't a processes' issue and I have uninstalled and reinstalled and get the same thing.

  • Adobe and shockwave constant crashes

    Hi folks,
Posted question with Firefox, but they have sent me here.   I'll start by saying that i'm not the most tech savvy - but can do bits and pieces. Really at my wits end!
Mozilla updated itself to what i thought was the new 36 version, although going through the many troubleshooting processes again today, i stumbled across an option to update firefox - it stated i was running an old version. I used to get the odd flash/shockwave crash - but it always righted itself by me downloading a new one. (it has never shown as being out of date)
I am apparently running Windows 8 (some screens tell me Win7- but it is 8), Firefox 36, plug ins - Open H264 (no clue what/where this came from), Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.305, Silverlight, iTunes app detector and some photo gallery thing- all up to date.
I have run through most of the troubleshooting ideas in the forums. I'm now submitting crash reports every couple of minutes. I have been told that most of my reports are being blocked because of their frequency. I literally have hundreds - 46 today alone. Sorry...47

    Crash Data for Firefox
I have uninstalled firefox, reinstalled. Uninstalled adobe, reinstalled - several times each.   Plugins say all up to date (but then it never says otherwise)  Hardware accelerator on and off - nothing changes.
    Help please!

    Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for getting back to me.  I have in the past encountered the odd crash - but found a work around by reinstalling flash and it usually fixed it.   Firefox occasionally does automatic updates - this happened a couple of weeks ago and ever since i have had issues with flash.
I've tried IE and it seems ok with that - i just dont like the layout- otherwise i would switch.   I have tried pretty much every suggestion in the forums- bar the programming ones.  I really dont know enough to start messing about with that.  I am also unable to narrow down the sites it crashes on - it happens so often, that i lose track. In the plug in window - Flash has never shown as needing updating.
    What i have tried -
Disabling hardware acceleration; flash uninstall, restart, reinstall (several times); refreshing firefox; trying in safe mode (got into a pickle!); submitting crash reports (47 the other day in less than 3 hours online)  fact is i have submitted so many that i've been told they are being blocked as they are so frequent; asking in the forums (both Mozilla and here)
I get both top warning bars and the wee icon crash windows where content should be.  Here is an example - https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/f1cc9d73-ab3d-4798-a845-805c52150305
I am running Win8 - but for some reason it is being picked up and identified as Win7 in some places.  Also running Firefox 36, plug ins - Open H264 (no clue what/where this came from), Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.305, Silverlight, iTunes app detector and some photo gallery thing- all up to date.
Fiirefox has also been behaving oddly - slow, and newly opened tabs are over magnified.  I uninstalled firefox today and reinstalled. I have not yet reinstalled flash.
The troubleshoot page you refer to asks about realplayer?   I have never had this installed - even before the issues? And weirdly - i can see your video!? Nice voice by the way.
    Am i doomed in Firefox?
    Alison

  • Why does adobe audition cs6 keep crashing

I insert a file into the track and it keeps crashes it is really frustrating can some please help with a solution.

Well, the good news is that this is far from normal behaviour...
...but the bad news is that we need a lot more information to try and help:
    -Mac or Windows?
-How many tracks are you using?
-Is it one specific file or does this happen on every file?
-What format is the file you're trying to insert?
-Does the format match your session settings?
...and anything else you can think of.

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
    (1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
    (2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    (B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista and higher)
See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    Any luck?

  • Adobe Audition 3.01 crashes

I recently went to a Vista system and quite often when I am working in the multitrack mode, the program re-boots the system. It usually happens when I moving around and clicking on a clip or adjusting something, but it is quite annoying and even on startup, the "continue where you left off" doesn't save what was lost.
I'm hoping when Windows 7 comes out that this type of issue will be solved, but it's been so long since Adobe has issued an update, I'm concerned.
    Anyone experiencing like problems?
Is AA3 going to work with Windows 7 or do I need to dust off my XP disks and dump Vista?
    Any help would be appreciated.
The system, is a duel core 2.8 GHz with 6 Gigs of Ram and nothing running in the background.
    Thanks

Is AA3 going to work with Windows 7 or do I need to dust off my XP disks and dump Vista?
My personal plan is to stick with XP (SP3) until the first service pack comes out for Windoze 7.  YMMV

  • Audition 5.5 Crashes when using Mac

I'm working in Adobe Audition CS5.5 on Mac OS 10.6.8.  When I bring an mp3 into Adobe Audition, do some minor edits to it, Audition crashes after I try to "save as" the file I'm working on.  This also happened in Soundbooth.  Basically, I'm working with an mp3 file, I normalize the file, edit some pieces out.  I then click "save as" to save the file, and I get the spinning disc symbol and it won't go away.  When I hit "apple, option, esc" to see the force application window, it says that Adobe Audition is "not responding".  Even after 5 minutes, it still won't respond.  Anyone have any idea what's going on????

Are you able to supply any of the additional information mentioned in this FAQ?

  • How to sync settings in Adobe Audition

    Hi all.
I am an Adobe Audition CC user on Mac. I've just bought a new Mac (hooray!) and want to sync over all of my workspaces, preferences, presets etc.
I know that there's a specific button to do this in some CC apps, but I can't seem to find it in Audition. Is it just not possible? Is there a manual way?
Or am I just being stupid...?
    Help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Will

The Prefs Sync isn't an Audition feature at this time, but it's not too difficult to migrate your existing preferences.
On the old system, open Finder and click Go in the menu.
Hold down OPTION to see "hidden" folders and click on Library.
Open Adobe > Audition and copy the "6.0" folder.
On your new system, repeat the first two steps, but in the third step, copy the "6.0" folder into the Audition folder, overwriting the default.
