Adobe Audition Saffire 6 problem

Hi! Everything was working fine with my Saffire 6 USB and Audition CC until yesterday when I tried to install an old copy of Pro Tools 9. Long story short, I couldn't get Pro Tools 9 to work for some reason and now I can't get Audition to play with my Saffire 6 either. Both programs are having issues with recognizing the interface. I have tried reinstalling the Saffire drivers as well as uninstalling PT9 but nothing has worked. The playhead won't play. Audition lists the interface in the Audio Hardware section but that's about it. I'm running Windows 8.1 and Creative Cloud. What could have gone wrong?? Help would be greatly appreciated!
Michael

What drivers does Audition list for the Saffire in the Audio Hardware  preferences page, both under Device Class and Device?  you should, where possible, be using ASIO drivers, not MME ones.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 Problems

Kind of Long - Windows XP SP3
I play guitar and bass guitar, and want to record them. I have my guitar connected to a ZOOM G1N Multi FX Pedal. The OUTPUT cable from the pedal is then connected to my computer at the LINE IN jack. My headphones come from the SPEAKER port on my system.
When I play guitar it plays through my computer fine, and I can record some clips using Windows Sound Recorder.
When I launch adobe audition 3.0, there is no sound. I can still hear the sound because of the line in, but adobe audition does NOT pick it up.
I have ASIO4ALL installed on my computer.
I go to Audio Hardware Setup - Under all 3 tabs, I put ASIO4ALL.
When I hit the record button it shows that it is getting sound. But it seems delayed. I cannot hear anything from the speakers. When I press stop, or stop recording, and hit play, no sound.
What is my problem - I am a very novice user when it comes to programs like this, and I really have no understand of audio inputs and stuff. I can get full documentation off my system for a better understanding, just tell me what I need, such as sound drivers and pictures of my volume layout. I work on other types of software, so I can navigate through the program easily. I am just unsure what all these buttons do!!!
I have HD sound audio, with 3 ports on my motherboard.
    Thank you

I would first change the Audio Hardware setup in Audition to use the simpler "Audition Windows Sound" to see whether it records through that. You should also go into Windows Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices and look under the Audio tab at Sound Recording, Volume and see that the mixer is set up sensibly there.
If you can now record, you then need to look at why ASIO4All isn't working correctly.
On the subject of the delay (aka latency), if you want to multi-track the guitar and bass, the sensible way forward is to invest in a specialised usb guitar interface that is designed for the job, will provide a true asio driver for Audition and will allow real-time monitoring. There are many manufacturers of these such as Tascam, Edirol etc. My advice would be to seek out one that has a metal case and the best combination of connectors for your use (for example, my Tascam one has jack line inputs, my Edirol phono and I choose the interface by what I can most easily connect to with the cables that are here rather by worrying whether the negligible difference in audio performance matters.)

  • Adobe audition cs6 play problem

    Hello!
i've just installed audition cs6, but when i open a song and hit the play button nothing happen, if i want to create a tone, same thing, i just cannot play anything on cs6, i have windows 8 and i updated audition to the latest version, what is the problem ?
Maybe it's a windows 8 problem, that wouldn't be the fist time, but i check the technical preferences and windows 8 is there, i've changed some settings in the audio hardware (in the preferences menu) but still nothing, i still cannot play something in cs6
Can somebody help me to solve this 'bug...'
    Thank you
    Stephan
you can email me at [email protected]

    Hi Stephan
Thank you for the additional information on your sound card.
it is always helpful to give as much information as you can about your setup so that
people can give you more appropriate help.
Are you on CS6 Adobe, this supports MME cards.
If you are on CS6, go to edit, preferences, Audio Hardware,
MME should be shown as the device class.
Below this your Default input and output should be your Soundblaster sound card.
The Master clock should also be the Soundblaster, if you haven't got any additional cards
attached to your computer the Soundblaster should be the only option.
Set the latency to 200 and the sample rate to 48,000, The Soundblaster cards are usually set to 48Khz
sample rate, so make sure this is selected.
Then go to Audio Channel mapping and make sure that the input is showing Soundblaster for both left and right
    channels.
The output should be set the same, depending on the model of card, both input and output may show
more inputs and outputs, Always select input Channel 1 Left (Mono) and Channel 2 Right
    Hope this helps
What you need to do is to download Asio4all from the internet,

  • Adobe Audition - Probleme sauvegarde apres import - volume a fond, grésillements, etc...

  • Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have been using Audition 2.0 on this computer for quite some time and suddenly now when I open it, I get the cryptic error dialogue:
"Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.  For more information about this error, click here."
When I click for more information, it's something useless like:
AppName: audition.exe    AppVer: 2.0.5306.2    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0   Offset: 65726168
Nothing on my computer has changed.  There are no viruses.  I have not added any new audio plug-ins.  I am completely up to date with all critical Windows XP SP3 updates and none have been downloaded and installed recently anyway.
I searched the knowledgebase and found a document that suggesting many things to try.  I tried them all, including running the Windows hard disk "check disk" tool with options to fix file system errors and recover bad sectors. I also defragmented the hard drive.  Lastly, I completely uninstalled Audition, then  manually deleted any remaining files, including registry entries as suggested in another knowledgebase article.
I then re-installed Audition 2.0 and it did exactly the same thing!  This it maddening.  Now it gets even more interesting.  I discovered that if I start up the
Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit that Adobe Audition installed also, then try to launch Audition from the toolkit, IT STARTS CORRECTLY!  I can then close the toolkit and use it like normal.  Weird work-around.
What the heck could possibly be going on?  Anyone have any ideas?  I've attached the error log file that is generated by the error but I doubt it will be of much help.
    Thanks!
    Steve in Chicago

stevefoobar2: I may have found a solution for you.
I had the same thing happen to me today. I was using Audition 2 this morning without any problems. But this afternoon, it started giving me the exact same error with no apparent reason. Nothing on my system had changed.
So I uninstalled it and installed Audition 3 in its place. Audition 3 continued to have the same problem that Audition 2 had, so we can assume that this is not something that was changed between versions.
But my attention was brought to the fact that you and I are both running Windows XP SP3 fully up-to-date. So I thought I'd try seeing it from the angle of a problem with Windows instead of Audition, and see if I didn't get a better result -
First, I logged on to Windows as Administrator. This may or may not be required, but you'll probably want to do it just in case (you'll see what I mean later). At this point, Audition still crashed the same way when I opened it, so I moved on to my next troubleshooting strategy -
Instead of opening Audition directly, I right-clicked the Audition icon and selected "Run as..." This may seem odd since I was already logged in as Administrator, but it proved to be the solution in my case.
In the "Run As" diolog, there are two main options: run as current user, or run as another user.
Since I was already logged in as Administrator, I could safely select the first option (run as current user). But here's the catch: selecting the first option allowed me to UNcheck the box underneath that says "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" (see the attached picture)
Audition opened without any problems when I did this.
This makes me think that one of the Windows security features suddenly decided to block something that Audition was trying to do, crashing the program in the process. By turning off this security feature, the problem was solved. And I only had to do it once. Every time afterwards, Audition has opened without any problems when I simply open it from my desktop. Perhaps Windows now remembers not to block Audition in the future.
However, I have not restarted my computer yet, or logged off as Administrator. You may need to tweak this solution if you plan to do either of these things. You may end up having to "Run as" Audition every time you restart your computer or log off. You may even need to select the SECOND option, and run the program as Administrator with the appropriate password.
Anyway, this was the only post I could find on Adobe.com concerning this problem, so I thought I'd post my solution in case it helped someone else.

  • Problem with Adobe Audition 2.0 and recording from a 1212m.

I bought a brand new machine and have be configuring it all week. Everything has been going well, except getting Adobe Audition 2.0 (the new version) to “hear” sound from the 1212m.
The intel 975 motherboard has an integrated HD sound system already on board and I have been able to get adobe audition to recognize it and record from it. This is what I have Windows XP Pro set to as my default sound card.
I installed the 1212m and I have gotten my monitors to work by using the XLR jacks on the monitors to the ¼ inch jacks on the 1212m using a VST (NI’s Kontakt 2) as the audio source. So it works.
What I can’t seem to get to work is getting Adobe Audition to “hear” the sound coming from the 1212m.
Patchmix seems to be working ok. The audio bars jump each time I hit a note on the keyboard.
I have configured Audition by going to Audio Hardware Setup and setting it to EMU ASIO and tried every combination of INPUT and OUTPUT, but when I hit the Record button in Audition it just flat lines..
I was hoping that once the audio made it from the VST though the 1212m and out to the speakers, that getting Audition to record it would be easy, but that hasn’t been the case.
The Intel 955 Extreme Edition and the 975 motherboard are brand new and I’m worried that being on the bleeding edge of technology, that one of the drivers isn’t working correctly and causing me hours of debugging a problem that is unworkable from my end.
Hopefully the problem is just some small stupid thing that I’m doing or failing to do (like normal).
    Any ideas would be helpful.
    thanks

I'm just saving it into a file in "My documents" on the internal hard drive. It's a computer in the office which has been used my other people before me and I have my own file which I was always able to save Adobe sound files into before, so I don't think it's anything to do with me not being allowed or read-only.
I've also been trying to save it onto USB hard drives. This works when I save it under a different name, but not when I'm just trying to update a file i've been working on. Basically I have to create a new file everytime I add something, so like "myaudit1", "myaudit2", "myaudit3" etc etc, even though it's the same piece of work just updated.
    Hope that makes sense!

  • Adobe Audition installation problem

    Hi there,
As soon as i go to start the installation of Adobe Audition i get this error:
Access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 0000000.
Any ideas why this is coming up?
After that it wont let me go ahead with the installation at all!
    in urgent need of help
    cheers guys.

You look like you're running Vista.
You need to make sure of the following:
    a) your installation medium/file is not corrupted
    b) that you're running the install as admin (right click, run as administrator)
    c) you don't have any major problems with the ram in your system.

  • Adobe Audition line-in Recording Problems

    Hello,
I've just started using windows 7, used to and still do use on other computers windows xp.
I installed adobe audition 1.5 on the computer with windows 7.
In xp you had to select line in, in the recording control to allow you to record if something was playing in the background.
    see images: .
I can't seem to enable this function in 7, so i can't sample anything playing in the back ground.
Has anyone had this problem, do you know how to sort this out, please help.
    kind regards
    Dan W

You can probably do what you want. But you probably need to adjust settings within Adobe Audition.
First, since this is a new PC, it's really important to get all your hardware drivers and Windows 7 itself totally up-to-date.  Keep going back to Windows Update until Win 7 says it has installed all the downloads it can find for your new PC. Win 7 is pretty good about updating itself as needed.  Just let it do its thing. And then be sure that when you go to a website like youtube.com and play a video, you can hear sound over the PC speakers.
You probably already know how to tell whether stream recording will work in Audition, but just to be clear, if you're playing a video at youtube.com for example, and you can hear the sounds over the PC speaker and you have Audition in Record mode, you should be seeing the sound level bars at the bottom of the display dancing in time with the sounds you hear.  If they're not dancing, stream recording will not work.
To fix this, in AA1.5, go to Options>Device Properties.  Hit the "Wave In" tab (at the top)--not "Wave Out".  Near the top left of the window that pops when you click "Wave In" will be a window with a small arrow to the right of it.  Click on that small arrow.  It will show you a list of devices Audition thinks might be used to record sounds within Audition.  But if stream recording isn't working, Audition may be picking the wrong device to use.
Here's how to try a different device in Audition which may get stream recording working.  Follow the directions carefully here.  It's easy to skip a step and then it won't work. Unfortunately, setting devices in AA1.5 is unnecessarily unintuitive, IMO. Click the Change button to the right of the device window with the little arrow on "Wave In" tab.   On Recording Devices tab at the top, select a device in the window on the left (Unused Record Devices).  I can't tell you for sure which one will work with your PC, as this depends to an extent on your sound hardware which will be different from mine.  But two good ones to try first are Monitor and Line In. Click the device you want to try so it's highlighted, and then click the Use button.  It will move over to the box on the right (Multitrack Device Preference Order).  Click the Move Up button on the bottom there until the device you're trying next is raised up to "1st". Then click "OK" (not "X" or "Cancel") to close this window.  The display will then show the previous window and the device you elevated to 1st position should now appear in the device window there.  To the right of the Change button is a small check box labeled "Use this device in Edit View."  Be sure this box is checked and then click OK (not "X" or "Cancel") to close this window.  In WinXP, it used to help at this point to close and reopen Audition though I'm not sure it helps with Win 7; but you don't need to reboot the PC.
Now try playing that video in youtube again.  Can Audition stream record it?  If not, go back as before to Recording Devices and try a different device until you've tried each one of them in 1st position, being very careful that you are clicking OK to exit the two windows there and that "Use this device in Edit View" is checked each and every time you try a different device.
If the bars dance during Record mode, but you hear nothing in Audition when you play back the file, stream recording is now working but you may need to go back to Device Properties as above and this time pick a different device in "Wave Out" tab so Audition playback is correctly passed to your PC speakers.
Once you get it working, I strongly recommend making notes somewhere that you'll be able to find again if you have to reinstall everything, because as I say, this stuff is not intutive, and unless you have notes on the correct settings and how to get them on your PC, you'll find yourself out at sea again if you have to reinstall.

  • Problem with Adobe Audition

I would like to ask for help. I downloaded Adobe Audition. I instaled it without problems but than, when I wanted to open the program, it gave me this: "Please sign in with your Adobe ID to use your trial of Adobe.." bud when I give "Sign in" it will say me than I have the problem with Internet conexion (I´m certain than my internet works) but I have a filter against the sites like terrents and differents - can be the problem in this filter?

Could be the issue with the Filter but hard to say.

See my reply in the other thread. Please don't double post as it is confusing to give answers. Unfortunately your picture doesn't show any helpful information to give us a clue as to what the problem is. A more helpful image would be of the same view but with the Input/output selection shown (rather than the fx view) by clicking on the double arrow icon to the left of the fx one which is selected at present.

Just thought I might get some help here quicker. Thanks for your time.

"This program is too expensive to have such an amateur limitation."
To help you, Eric.. this is a conclusion to the question the precedes it. I never blamed the program for my lack of knowledge. I wouldn't waste my time in a message board asking how to accomplish a task if I felt it was impossible.
And, Arrogance? The extent of my description was to prevent people from responding with suggestions I've already tried. The second response fixed the problem (not the first, mind you) so it seems my message suited the situation... and no others found the need to tell me I was the problem.
MY attitude is in response to YOUR arrogance. After asking a friendly question, you respond with the limitation only being mine, but there is also a limitation with the software. Contradictory? I see you have a reputation to uphold, and now understand the driver that came with Audition does have limitation. It's nice to see you have people that give you credit, because your posts merely tell me that (1) I don't know what I'm doing .. and (2) Yeah, Audition has the limitation you need help getting around.
Well thanks for your help. My first and last point is why you find the need to tell people they don't understand something, when that's clearly why they've come to you and your peers. You'd make a great firefighter -- showin' up with flashing lights, to deliver the news to people that they don't know how to work an oven.
