ADobe Bridge CC encounters a cache problem....

it is unable to read the cache. Try purging central cache in Prefs to correct.... done it! doesn't work.  same every time I open it.

I had the same problem. Adobe Tech Support representative remote controlled my iMac 5k and manually deleted the Bridge cache folder (including the sub-folders). This corrected my problem. The rep said that using the Purge Cache option in Bridge's preferences will not solve the problem.

  • Adobe Bridge CC on iMac, Cache Issue

I use Adobe Bridge & Photoshop CC multiple times daily. Lately, I've been receiving this error message:
"Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation."
Purging the central cache seems to correct the matter, for a day or two - then, I receive the same error message again...
Any suggestions to resolve this issue are appreciated, thanks.

I'm having the same issue. The program is really slow and the cache is really bad. I'm assuming we need to update our system and the program???  Please let me know if you find the answer.  This issue is slowing me down too much. Makes we want to quit using the software forever.

  • Adobe Bridge won't open & iTunes problems after crash

    Hello,
I was using Adobe Bridge and Photoshop (CS3 versions) earlier and was having PS perform a very memory-intensive task. I was also running iTunes and Firefox at the time. PS crashed; when I tried to reopen it, it got stuck on the initialization window. I couldn't force quit, so I tried to restart my computer - but whatever was preventing PS from either booting or closing seemed also to be preventing my mac from shutting down. So I did a forced shut-down by holding down the power button.
When I restarted, PS would launch, but Bridge wouldn't - the icon would bounce in my doc for a bit, then stop; on each subsequent try, it would bounce a little less, but still not launch (same goes for trying to open it from the Applications folder.) Also, when I launched iTunes it told me my library was "damaged", and had be go through set-up steps again as if I had never used the software.
I'm not exactly sure what to do here to get Bridge working correctly. I'm not sure if this question is better suited for an Adobe forum, but I thought I'd start here. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks.

    Chris,
Try one of these things or both:
    * open Bridge from within Photoshop; or
    * make a new Mac account and log in as a different user. Bridge will likely start. After that, it will probably work in your regular account.
However, there is no "firmware" update involved here. Firmware is applied to machines only, via an Apple patch. Many machines don't ever get a firmware uppdate ever, only a few Mac models do.
    >Problem is though I need the most current version to be able to read the CR2 files
Also, the Bridge updater does NOT touch the ACR plug-in, nor does it update said camera raw plug-in either. You can manually download the ACR 4.3.1 plug-in and install it yourself as per the very detailed instructions on the ACR download page. Follow those

Every time I have to change the xml and have to run the application one again to get new updated data.Following way I am connecting the xml file.

try adding a datadump to your HTTPService; POST some irrelevant data, this will force the service to run without caching

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working - has issue been resolved?

    Hello.
I am experiencing the above problem with a new install of CS6.
    Has this issue been resolved?
CS6 Design and Web Premium installed on Win 7 pro 64 bit Dell Precision laptop. Error with Adobe Bridge cs6: "Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working", problem event name "APPCRASH". Error occurs when opening Bridge from Photoshop and other apps (Browse in Bridge) and directly from desktop or start menu. Also a cache directory is not being created under c:\user\<user>\appdata\roaming\adobe\bridge\. Holding ctrl key down and double clicking icon gets same message, cannot get at reset window.
Performed the following with no change: verified Bridge and full suite is on latest version (Bridge=5.0.2.4); created desktop icon directly from bridge.exe; verified application was installed and is starting with administrator privileges; verified latest display driver installed; performed complete uninstall of CS6, CC cleaner tool run, then full reinstall; Error under Event Viewer: faulting application: Bridge.exe and faulting module name: ntdll.dll; disabled UAC; tested memory for damage using MemTest86-good.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

A follow up to the above.
There appears to be a number of possible causes for this type of error. In my case it was somewhat specific. I had a stand alone copy on this same machine previously of Adobe Photoshop CS2 (only) which was completely uninstalled prior to the installation of CS6. There is an issue with Bridge CS6 being installed on a machine that has Bridge CS2 on it. I wasn't aware of Bridge being present with my copy of Photoshop CS2 but apparently there were at least some components of Bridge CS2 left after the uninstall. The workaround that solved the issue for me was the creation of an empty folder:
    C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS2
For those of you who may have this situation.
Here is where I found the solution (sixth thread down):
    Bridge CS6 won't open running on Win7

  • Help - Adobe Bridge will not delete or reject images (win7)

Hi there everyone, I have a new problem that it seems nobody else has ever had as I can't find any support via google or yahoo.
As a photographer the issue is quote inhibiting.. Basically when I go to delete an image in bridge, it comes up with 'are you sure you want to send this image to the recylce bin' and I click 'yes' then it moves to the next image.. just like its supposed to BUT the image I 'deleted' has not moved from the folder.. it has not gone.
The same happens if I try to 'reject' an image. and yes I have 'show rejected images' selected.. yet just as with delete, when I try to 'reject' an image nothing happens.
    * If I hit the delete button, 'do you want to reject this file or delete it?'
If I hit reject OR delete.. nothing happens.
If I hit 'control and delete' it asks me if I am sure I want to delete it.. then the fires remain.
I have a laptop with adobe Bridge on windowsvista, and no problem. My old pc was on windows xp and no problem.
This problem seems to be specific to windows7?
    Does Adobe bridge
    VERSION CS4
    not support win7?

I have had the same problem with Windows 7  64bit until I figured it out about 15 minutes ago.  It has to do with file permissions that are set automatically by Windows.  If you go to "My Computer", find the root folder that your photos are in, right click on the folder, and select "Properties" from the context menu, under the "General" tab, you will probably see that the "Read Only" box is checked.  You will need to uncheck it and select "Apply". When it prompts you, select that you want this applied to all folders below the root photo folder. I assume you have your photos in multiple folders under a main folder.  Then select the "Security" tab on the same "Properties" menu. You need to make sure that the users listed (you have to select them one at a time if there are several) have permissions to modify the files.  I found this out after I completed the unchecking of the "Read Only" box and went back to Bridge.  It didn't work until I went back and made the corrections under the "Security Tab".  I hope this explanation isn't too muddy.  Feel free to ask me for clarification or, for that matter,   I am sure people in the forum can give you more erudite explanations of what I just wrote.

  • Adobe Bridge (CS4) wont open on my Window 7 PC

I'm trying to learn photoshop for my needs in digital photography. Recently, got me a PC with Windows 7 Ultimate operating system on it. Also, have bought an expensive copy of Ps CS4 Photoshop & Lightroom 2 as well. My problem is that everytime I try to open Bridge, It gives an error message and states that a problem has occured and Adobe Bridges needs to close and when I click on OK, it closes the Bridge's  Main Page.
This machine has a relatively new fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate; 64 bits, ADM Core quad, 4GB ram, 500GB HD. The previous owner used it as gaming machine. I strictly want to only use Ps and maybe other photo editing software such as ViewNX.
I have uninstalled the entire Ps CS4 and re-installed it again, with no luck on this issue. Anyone, could help?

It didn't make any difference. It gave me 3 options, when i checked the first 2 the 3rd was grayed out.
The error messages are as follows:
    Adobe Bridge
    Adobe Bridge has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...
    Cancel
    Adobe Bridge
    Adobe Bridge has stopped working
A problem  caused the problem to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program  and notify you if a solution is
    available.

"Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation."

You must have a Mac.  Try this.
Quit Bridge, from user library (NOT system and root library) preferences folder find and delete the com.adobe.bridge5.plist file manual. Do this also in same user library caches folder (Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6) and inhere find and the folder called 'cache' and drag it to the trash.
restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences, then try again.

  • Error Message: Need to purge Cache in Adobe Bridge CC (on PC)

I tried purging using Adobe Bridge by going to Edit/Preferences/Cache then purging, but it becomes non responsive.  The error message said the problem files were at Users/(my user name)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/BridgeCC/Cache.   There are 4 files in there that are taking up 124 GB!  Can I simply delete these files or will it corrupt my regular files?  I tried doing as some other forums suggested and hold the ALT key down when opening Bridge before purging, but no luck.

Yes, you can delete the cache files manually,  Just be advised that Bridge will become very, very slow until it finishes rebuilding its caches.  Depending on your files, that can take a few minutes or several hours.
A good way of doing it is at night, so you can do it before going to bed and let Bridge rebuild caches overnight.
If you can, save the cache files before deleting them to an external drive, so that you'll have them as backup if something goes wrong.

  • Problem with Adobe Bridge

Hello. I have just downloaded a trial version of Adobe Photoshop - to try it out before I buy it. However, I am having problems with not being able to view images and folders I have just created in Adobe Bridge. For example, I've just edited an image but I can only see it in Finder, not in Adobe Bridge. Is this an issue with cached files and is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Curt, In Bridge I can see all the images in my Photo library that were created previously (everything using Adobe Lightroom). The issue has only arisen with new images, and folders, that I am creating now - since downloading the trial version of Photoshop. For example, an image I shoot now and save on my hard drive, will not show up in Bridge, nor will a folder I create say for today's images. I can see everything however in the Mac 'Finder' program, so I know they are there.
I have Adobe Bridge CS6 BUT I have Adobe Photoshop CS5 - both are trial versions. Could this be the issue, I don't think so but I am trying to download the trial of Adobe PS6 as its that version that I would buy. I inadvertently downloaded, and installed, the trial version of PS CS5.

  • Cache error message in Adobe Bridge CS6

I am continuing to get a cache error message despite purging the cache several time on different occassion via the Preferences. Adobe Bridge now seems to be frozen on Building Criteria. The platform I am using iMac OSX 10.8.5. I have rebooted the machine a couple of times to no avail. Any advice

If Windows, search your event viewer for something like "The device \Device\Ide\iaStore0 did not respond within the timeout period." Since this
is kind of a hardware issue, there might be a similar thing happening on MACs. If you see this warning check what driver you are using for Intel
Rapid Storage Technology. I was using version 10.x and the latest from Intel is 12.x. Intel cautions you not to use this updated driver without
checking with the system manufacturer, which in my case, Asus, maintained that 10.x was the latest approved driver. I installed the 12.x driver
directly from Intel despite the warning, and the problem seems to have been resolved. I post in case this gives someone else a clue to solve
    this nagging problem.
Oh, this might be particularly significant if you have recently installed a larger hard disk.

  • Finding the Adobe Bridge CC cache

I'm running Bridge CC along with PS, and I'm having problems with the cache. The best advice seems to be to trash the cache and reloadt, but  Bridge Preferences says the cache is located at /User/Library/Caches/Adobe Bridge CC/Cache/  and I can't find it. In fact, I can't find any Adobe cache folder anywhere, for any adobe product. The Library/Cache/ folder shows only Apple and caches for my two printers. I suspect this is Apple hiding such things, and maybe that's a generally good idea but I do need to get in there to handle this problem,
    Brian

    You're welcome.
There are three "Library's" : root, system, and user's (if you have multiple users, each user has a library).
    Root: /Library/
    System: /System/Library/
User: /Users/yourusername/Library ( or, simply ~/Library). The tilde + slash indicates your user account.
