Adobe Bridge CS6 "The operation could not be completed"

I cannot get Bridge CS6 to run under my Mac account.  All other accounts on my MacBook Pro work fine with Bridge.  I have re-installed CS6 several times and I have searched the internet for days to find a solution. I can see that this is a common problem but there is no workable solution, and Adobe still refuses to admit there is a problem and to offer a fix.

Only my account won't run this product all other accounts on the same machine seem to work okay.
Then the problem lies in your account. A fresh install would not help unless you also used the Adobe Clean tool to remove all other settings. But that is a bit harsh to try because then all other Suite info is also deleted and you have to reinstall the lot.
And when the app runs in other account it means the install on root level (where your default application folder is and where all other account also make use of) is correct.
The easiest thing would be to create a new account but I don't know if that is an option for you regarding other settings and stuff in this account.
First run Apple Disk utility on your problem account to check and repair disk permissions.
Then open your user library (by default hidden, use menu Go and press option to reveal this library)
Go to the folder called preferences and inhere is Bridge5 plist file, delete this to the trash.
In same user library go the folder called Caches and follow this path / Adobe/ Bridge CS6  and inhere delete both the folder called Cache and the plug in. All deleted files will refresh them selves after you managed to restart Bridge.
Then again use the option Curt provided, hold down option key while restarting Bridge and from the options choose preferences.
Then try again.
The other option would be to use the MacOs recovery disk on this user account to create a new user library while archiving the older one.
Disk drive 750Gb with 40Gb spare.
Usually at least 10 % free space is recommended for running smoothly. Bridge is very processor demanding and if you have other applications running 40 GB is simply to low to run your system and apps smoothly.
Also be aware that if you have multiple user accounts installed and on all accounts you use Bridge you should find a new location for the cache file. By default Cache is stored in the User library (see above). And depending on amount and size of files and preview settings (100% preview creates huge files) this cache folder can grow to very large proportions.
If you have different user accounts and all create their own library you need to recache every time you visit in the new account.
I have no personal experience with multiple accounts on my machine so don't know if Bridge can handle multiple accounts on one machine with one cache folder on root level.
Network usage is not supported and often difficult but having one machine with one root file for cache might work without problems.

And I also have a problem with Premiere, when i want to export a project says that premiere must close.
This is the try version, is this a problem of Adobe or Apple? i'm very worried
    Help!
    Thank you!

Confirma que se trata de una cuestión de permisos.
Por cierto te aconsejos actualices la 9.1  a 9.2, posiblemente se habría arreglado así también.
    Bueno los pasos son:
    2. Select Go from the Finder Menu.
    3. Select Computer.
    4. Select Macintosh HD.
    5. Select Users.
    6. Select your user profile.
    7. Right click on user profile. Select Get Info.
    8. Go to bottom and unlock with admin password to make changes.
    9. Make sure your user profile has Read and Write privileges by selecting from dropdown menu.
    10. Go down to wheel at very bottom and select Apply to enclosed items. This should allow Adobe Bridge to run properly.

  • I cannot start bridge (Mac 10.8.2) CS6. States "the operation could not be completed"

I cannot start bridge (Mac 10.8.2) CS6. States "the operation could not be completed" but if I use another user account it works fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed Creative Suite but no differene.
Are there some logs or cache's that I need to delete or something??
    Please help

but if I use another user account it works fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed Creative Suite but no differene.
Are there some logs or cache's that I need to delete or something??
There are a few things to try but it means the problem is in the account itself. un- and reinstall the Suite will not help if you are not also using the Adobe cleaner tool for this job:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Check this and read the instructions carefully and most important, have a back up of your important settings (in Photoshop your custom actions, tool presets, brushes and workspaces and for Bridge the custom output templates and keyword list, to name the most important for me).
If you check your user library (by default hidden per OSX 10.7, use menu Go and press option to reveal this library) Inhere is a folder called Application support and most of those settings are here - User/Library/Application Support/Adobe.
If you copy this folder to a back up location you can always use this to copy the certain wanted parts to the new installed folder.
Also use a check and repair permissions on your start up disk with Apple disk utility or third party software like Cocktail.
And finally since your still on 10.8.2 they just recently released 10.8.3
Usually the update procedure is using the App Store and check software update. BUt in this case it might be useful to find the 10.8.3 Combo Update on the Apple Support section.
You have to download this yourself and then it is a normal update procedure. The combo update does a bit more refreshing for the user account then the normal update.
And if all this is not helping you then you can use the Apple recovery disk to reinstall your system, this is what before was known as an Archive and Install procedure. This creates a new user library while all your custom settings and files are being kept.
But you have to find info for yourself for this and also make sure you have a proper back up of all your important files, but as a wise person you already had done so I believe ?

  • Bridge CS5 freezes after error message...."The operation could not be completed, there is not....

Error - The operation could not be completed.  Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
After this happens I have to close Bridge as it is unresponsive to any further commands and I often I have to use the task manager to close it.
I have scoured these boards and the web for a solution and have found others w/ the same problem (even people w/ much more RAM) but have not found a solution beyond the usual advice of changing cache settings, increasing page file, or making sure there is enough hard drive space.
I have two 1TB hdd's w/ over 80% free space on each but I only have 2 GB RAM (all my old motherboard can handle).  However, this error message occurs even when Photoshop is not running (only Bridge) and my RAM usage meter shows that I still have plenty of unused RAM available.  I did not have this problem w/ Bridge CS4. The error msg. of not enough storage doesn't make since considering the available RAM showing and ample space on the hard disk assigned to the cache (which is a different physical drive than my OS or the Bridge program.)
Here are some of the things I have tried:
reset Bridge preferences at startup, changed the location of the Bridge cache, its size and options, purged the cache, changed the page file size on both drives to the max, defragmented drives, disabled Norton anti-virus, etc.
    -What else can I try?
-Would creating a new partition on my 2nd hdd to be used solely for the Bridge cache make any difference and if so, why?
Please help, I am willing to try anything to get this to work.  It is a personal challenge at this point.... and I am determined to get Bridge CS5 to work on my machine......
Thanks in advance for any advice or insturctions you may offer!

    Dear Customers,
I am Baichao Li, Adobe Bridge Quality Engineer.
Bridge team is investigating this error, In order to reproduce the problem in our lab and find a solution as soon as possible, I would like to ask you to help providing more information, please follow steps below,
    1. Download "User Mode Process Dumper Version 8.1" from
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?familyId=e089ca41-6a87-40c8-bf69-2 8ac08570b7e&displayLang=en
    2. Install "User Dumper" following Microsoft's article
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241215
    3. Open "Control Panel -> Process Dumper", switch to tab Page of "Processing Monitoring"
    4. Click button "New", input "Bridge.exe" for "Application Name".
    5. Select "Bridge.exe" from list box, then click button "Rules",
                    Select "Use Custom Rules",
Browse to a custom dump file folder,
                    Check "All Exceptions",
Check "Ignore Exceptions that occur inside Kernel32.dll",
Select "Mini Dump Type" to "Small"
Select "Save Mode" to "Cyclic Saving 5 times"
                    Others keep uncheck or unselect.
    6. Click "OK" button to exit "Rules" setting dialog, then Click "Apply" button, then click "OK" to quit "Process Dumper " dialog.
    7. Launch Adobe Bridge CS5, do your work.
    8. When that error message occurs, Bridge hang, wait for a while, then kill bridge using "Task Manager", please check if there are some ".dmp" files in "custom dump file folder " which is set in step 5, if so, please zip all .dmp files and FTP to us (please contact me at [email protected] for FTP info). It would be better if you can repeat your hang and send us more zipped .dmp files.
Sincerely appreciate if you could provide us your workflow before Bridge throws that error message, what file formats you use, what features you use and your machine information.
    Best Regards,
    Baichao Li

  • I cannot get Bridge to open - I get the message that "the operation could not be completed"

I cannot get Bridge to open in my new CS5 Suite - I get the message that "the operation could not be completed."  Photoshop comes up fine, but no Bridge.  I have a MacBook Pro.  Thanks.

I am having the same issue.
    MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.4
    Photoshop CS5, Bridge CS5
It will not open, I have reinstalled, cleared the cache, & reset preferences, + installed the patch.
I do have Bridge CS3 that came with my PS Elements, & that works. Do not have any Norton, or other software running.

  • BRIDGE: The operation could not be completed

I am using Creative Cloud, I have successfully installed diffetents App`s. PS,AI etc. When I install
Bridge and open the app like any other app a error pop`s up. !! the operation could not be completed.
It a brand new mac, so not a space issue. If anyone have and idea what`s worng please let me know.
    Thanks NB TOKYO

I don't know what the problem is, but if you type "operation could not be completed" into the forum search, you get lots of results.

  • Moved Bridge location; Error operation could not be completed

So I recently installed a 120 gb ssd to be used for my startup files. I installed leopard, upgraded to 6.8, downloaded and installed lion, couldn't properly back up from a time machine back up or a migration so just started over and moved all my files over, (applications, libraries, system and bootup), keeping my music, movies and pictures on my main 500 gb. I also did a clead install of CS5 suite but Bridge is still a no go with the response that the operation could not be completed. I've looked around on these forums and have found that this comes up when you move the adobe applications. However I still have not found a soloution so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a unibody late 2009 white Macbook.

Don't quit understand your configuration, you mean you did manage to build 2 HD in your MacBook?? or do you use the SSD in the MacBook and the 500 GB as external?
However, moving libraries and system software instead of install again is usually not the best idea...
You should first try to back up custom settings for PS like tools, actions and other presets. Then use the PS help menu to deactivate permanently and use the uninstaller for PS to uninstall it. Maybe even use the clean tool for PSCS:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
And it would not be a bad idea also to use the leopard install disk again to restart from and then use the option to install and archive the system again. This does not take long and creates a whole new library while making a back up of your old one. Use the software update (it will present you the combo update to 6.8) to get the latest updates.
Then try again to install PS and I would think you should be OK.

  • Launch PB in CS5 and get "The operation could not be completed."

I had been using the PB plug-in previously and it worked fine.  Since that time, I have installed no new hardware or drivers but have installed Topaz Adjust 4 filter.  Now, when I have an image opened in PS CS5 and I click Filters -> Pixel Bender -> Pixel Bender Gallery... I get a modal dialog with the title Error and the message "The operation could not be completed."  I tried reinstalling the extension and no luck.

I take it you've rebooted your machine a few times since all this has happened? Something must have changed to cause this problem. You could try deleting the Photoshop preferences and the Pixel Bender plugin preferences. You doublechecked that you have the latest drivers from nVidia (and you did so by manually comparing the result provided on the nVidia driver page with the driver version found in the Display preferences? Are you running on a laptop? If so, who is the manufacturer?

  • Save for Web - The operation could not be completed. Access is denied.

Hello everyone! I was hoping it wouldn't have to come to this, but unfortunately, I really need help with my Adobe Photoshop. I run on Windows 32x and my program is Photoshop CS6 (Portable and its 64 bit), which I've had for about a year. Yesterday, I made a GIF and I tried to save it but along came the message saying "The operation could not be completed. Access is denied."
I reset my preferences (more than once!), restarted my laptop and cleared up a bunch of memory on my hard drive. The mode is set to 8 Bits/Channel and RGB Color. I really have tried to look at every thread I could, but alas I could not find anything. I would really appreciate some help. Here is my system info!
Any advice would really go a long way to helping me, and I am desperate. Thanks.

Make sure that you have read write access to the foldler that you're trying to save your file to.  Save for web doesn't save in the same location as where the file resides. It remembers that last location used, and you may not have access to that.

  • PS CS5 The operation could not be completed. A file system I/O error has occurred

    Howdy...
I'm using Photoshop CS5 and when I go to use a handful of filters such as Liquify or Lens Correction I am suddenly getting an error message saying:
"The operation could not be completed. A file system I/O error has occurred"
Doesn't matter if it's a massive file or a small one. Sometimes the Liquify box will actually come up, but after I make one or two strokes, the beachball comes up and moments later I get the error message again. It doesn't actually crash PS, it just prevents me from using those filters. Each time I click, the error message comes up again. I've also tried it with my PS CS3 on the same Mac and it does the same thing. However on my 4 year old MacBook Pro, it's absolutely fine. Grrrrr!
I have my PS set as default on 64 bit. I have a scratch disk with nearly 500gb free (which is not my start-up disk) I am running a Mac Pro 2.8 GHz 8 Core Intel with 16gb of ram, so it's not a memory problem. Running Mac OS 10.6.7 but did the same on 10.6.6 too.
I have repaired the disk permissions on the start-up disk. I have reloaded a fresh copy of PS (a few times). Even did a hard Un-install with maccs3clean after trying a regular Un-install with no success.
I had an 1.5hr conversation with an Adobe Tech guy earlier today and he's scratching his head, so I'd thought I'd throw it open to you guys hoping someone has had the same problem and can save the rest of my hair from being pulled out.
    HELP!

    Hi Guys,
I know this is an old post but I need to bump it.
I work for a image processing company and we all sit on top spec mac pro's with 16-32 GB of RAM, top graphic cards and SSD drives.
All of my collegaues' computers are working fine when it comes to using liquify and all of the filters that come with CS5, but it sure doesn't work on my mac at all.
We have a tech guy who has re-installed the OSX on a new SSD drive now two times and we have started from scratch with installing CS5 but it still will not work. I keep getting "the operation could not be completed..." every time i try
to liquify or do any other filter work.
I am 100% sure it doesn't have to do with any disk permissions or broken drives in my case.
Could there be an issue with the graphic card or any other hardware component since it's clearly not a software related issue?
Any help would be much appreciated because we are very much in the dark here.
    Best regards,
    Anders

  • File Save for Web = Error: The operation could not be completed.

Installed photoshop CS6 trial Version 13.0 on Windows 7 Ultimate running in hyper-v virtual machine.  Created a small image and clicked File Save for Web.  This produced the error dialog "Error: The operation could not be completed."
I tried the following trouble shooting steps:
    1. deleted the preferences
    2. created a new user
    3. re-installed both the operating system and photoshop
    4. looked for permission issues
    5. monitored procmon.exe to look for unusual errors
I'm not sure what I'm looking for, but it simply does not work.

    ELEMENTS 12 AND ELEMENTS 13
Upgraded to 13 Thinking might resolve the issue.
Was working fine up until we had "Tech" come in the office and "up grade some stuff"
then all of a sudden i started getting this message, something happened but i don't have a clue what.

  • Oil paint filter: The operation could not be completed

And this is just one of the problems I am getting. I'm running Win7 64bit, photoshop cs6 (also 64bit), have an i7 2600 and 16GB of RAM and an ati 5870 card running the latest drivers (12.8)
So, the operation could not be completed whenever I try to run the oil paint plugin and when I try to use the iris blur, my canvas goes blank. If I pull it out of docked mode and put it in a window, it's still blank until I move the window about and I can see my image, but as soon as I stop moving the window around, it's blank again.

Thanks for the advice. I had found that suggestion elsewhere on the site after I posted and just finished a reinstall of drivers. That fixed the problem with liquefy and oil paint. However, I still have issues with the first three Blur filters: field, iris, and tilt shift. All three cause the canvas to go black when run and no matter what I do I cannot restore the image without exiting photoshop. If I close the window that is now black and reopen the original file (unsaved after the error) without exiting I still get a blank canvas. In order to be able to view that file again I need to close down photoshop completely. Then upon restart I can open and view the file.
If I completely disable "Use Graphics Processor" in the performance preferences then the filters work like normal. If I reenable they go back to the the black canvas behavior. I also tried leaving the "use graphics processor" enabled and changing the subsettings such as Drawing mode and none of those changes helped... the graphics processor needs to be completely disabled.

with photoshop cs5 i get for a specific regular user when selecting filter gallery the error message 'the operation could not be completed'. all other users on the same mac show no problems. ???

You could also post/submit your crash report from running in 32bit with your email address. That may yield some additional clues.
