Adobe Bridge is extremely slow to load thumbnails in the content window when opening a folder.

Has anyone else had any issues with Bridge taking a long time (45 seconds per window) to load the content window? I have my files nested in folders and when I browse them using Bridge it takes me forever to get to the files I need. I'm asking here to see if there's some setting I need to adjust or something. We just recently started using CC and I had no problems at all until our IS department swapped out my tower with a new one. I don't know why that would make a difference but it's the only thing that's changed.

You might want to provide more details about this configuration (OS, what files are you viewing, are you on stand alone or via server) but in general a new computer (I think that is what you are talking about?) means all the difference.
The specs regarding free disk space, RAM, VRAM and processor speed is vital for application like PS and Bridge that are very processor demanding when busy.
And you need to recache the lot first once to save the data for thumbs and HQ previews to the cache for future use. Once a file is cached it should show instantly. Best way to recache is to select the main folder and use the menu view / show items for subfolders and then let Bridge do its work. This can take a long time depending the amount and file size of your content.

    Hi AngieLynch,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing some unexpected behavior in Mail.
Before troubleshooting on your computer, I'd strongly recommend backing up your data to an external hard drive with Time Machine, if you haven't already. This article can help with setting up Time Machine:
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac

Next, try creating a new user account on your computer. You can add your email account to Mail in the new user account. If Mail is more responsive in the new user account, then Mavericks is working fine and the behavior is caused by conflicts in your own Mail or user account.
These articles walk you through creating a new user and setting up Mail:

why is safari so extremely slow in loading pages? it can just about load my e-mail, if I wait about 5 minutes & I cannot check my t mobile cell phone balance because it gets stuck loading the page.

Look at this picture and you'll find it. Just click on the marked area/button.

  • All Google Services Extremely Slow to Load

I use iGoogle as my home page and it along with all other google services (maps etc.) are extremely slow to load (30+ seconds to open). All other web sites load at regular and quick speed. It has been happening for about a week. Tried resetting home page and restoring to a previous home page version and using regular google (not igoogle) as home page and nothing works. I use Comcast as my ISP with an Airport Extreme directly connected to the Imac. Anyone have any idea? I saw some limited reference to slow google may be caused by DNS settings but not sure.

Problem Resolved. Tried to manually change DNS setttings on Airport Extreme Router and Network Utility to commonly used Comcast DNS address in my area. The settings were saved but did not resolve the issue. Did a factory default restore on the Airport and when I set it up again it automatically took the same commonly used DNS address that I had tried to manually input and now all google services load quickly.

  • In adobe bridge cs6 i would like to pre build the thumb nails on an entire drive inc sub folders

in adobe bridge i would like to build all the thumbnails for the drive so when i go to a sub folder all the iamges are ready to go.   i have tried select all and then build hq thumbnail but it only did the images in the root folder i was in.  not the sub folders.  what am i doing wrong?
    thanks,

    They're both wrong
    In your dreams…
Maybe I did not understand the OP correctly but using build and export cache usually creates less free space (certainly) and more problems (very likely…) hence I never advice this route. On a Mac this means double cacheing, first in Central Cache (same as our answer before) and also extra cache in folders.

  • Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

Firefox runs extremely slow on 64 bit PC it takes forever to open bookmarks and also hangs when I try to open anything within firefox I have used firefox since it started on 32 bit systems until I installed it on my 64 bit a week ago and have had this problem and others since, are we going to get a 64 bit firefox

Thanks for getting back to me Dave!
The file is about 91 MB in size, with just under 400 scanned pages.
I’ve also encountered the problem when I’ve tried to OCR one of these old books.  I’ve had to do it 50-100 pages at a time, closing and re-opening the file each time.
Based on my online search for a solution, I had concluded that the 2 GB limit for 32-bit programs was the most likely source of the problem.  But I’m wondering now if Acrobat could use 2 GB  in processing a 91 MB file.

I just tried the link and it is just fine. If the GateKeeper pops up then open Security & Privacy preferences, click on the General tab, set the last radio button to Anywhere.

I installed the CC trial with an error window saying: Could not create the file '/Users/dranim/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.2/dummy'.  That was the first window.   Heres the second: After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup  I paid for the month subscription of 29.99. It claims it is downloading again?! Am I missing something here? Why is this process so complicated? I need to get this resolved asap and start working.

I originally had Adobe Photoshop Extended, then upgraded to the Production Suite. I ran the Adobe Cleaner, and that uninstalled most Adobe products, including my existing Adobe install, and then I re-installed everything with the same error code. Since CS4 came with CS5, I've installed AE CS4, but would really like to upgrade because I'm new to Creative Suite, and not sure how CS4 integrates with CS5...CS4 After Effects installed perfectly. I do have a 64 bit system, and installing to an OCZ Vertex 2....every other suite installs perfectly, except AE. And I think that is the coolest program in the Suite. I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...
    I'm baffled....

  • CS6 E Bridge Slow to load thumbnails, 'building criteria'

When Bridge opens on the folder it was last opened/closed in, it takes a long time to load, constantly 'building criteria' as if all the images are newly imported. I've searched the forums, have tried all the tweaks and settings, but it's still iceberg slow.  Bridge CS5 is noticeably quicker, as if the cache info is being read immediately. CS6 is behaving as if the cache file has been deleted. It hasn't. I have tried the "flush the cache" to see if maybe it's corrupted. No joy. I have boosted cache size. No joy. I've compacted, automatically exported cache to folders, everything... Nothing seems to fix the snail slowness.
All Adobe updates have been applied.
    i7-2600s @2.80GHz
    8 gb DDRw ram
    Nvidia GeForce GT420 1gb DDR3
    6+ tbs hd space.

I could understand the glacial slowness if the beta version had also been so slow. Or if CS5 Bridge was also as slow.
Did not read this whole (long) thread but in general when a previous version of Bridge did work faster then the following this almost certainly is related to your system itself.
While building criteria in filter panel has a mind of its own and especially when opening a second window to fast (when first window is just finished caching or building filter panel) it may take ages. closing this window and open a new one usually succeeds.
However when this always takes a long time the problem seems related to the cache (most Bridge problems are...)
Purging cache using preferences or menu commands is not always the correct solution. Using Bridge CS5 and PS CS6 is also not the perfect solution.
If you can spare the time you should consider a proper back up of custom settings, actions tools, keywords, templates etc. and a complete reinstall.
I don't have the correct info for Windows and searching on Adobe.com isn't easy anymore. Here are some old Knowledge base articles (it's about CS4 but changes are locations are still the same)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/move-actions-presets-workspaces-photoshop.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-functions-names-locations-1.html
and also read about the Adobe Cleaner Tool and decide if this is an option for you.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    If you decide to reinstall:
Deactivate the software and use the official uninstaller that comes with the application itself and then use the clean tool for Adobe:
Double check if your Cache folder has been deleted (I'm on Mac, don't know the location for Windows but on Mac it is in the user library caches folder)
Install CS6 again. Obvious you have to set your custom preferences again and also need to recache your files but if you have a main folder with many subfolders containing the files just select the main folder and in the menu View select 'show items for subfolders' and let it do it's caching overnight.
In my experience every new version of CS has been faster and more stable (well, except the disaster CS3 version for Bridge...) then its predecessor.

  • Adobe flash takes extremely long to load

    Hello all,
My adobe seems to be having some major issues.  I just bought the parts for this computer (Specs listed below) and put it together.  Its very top of the line everything is smooth and runs EXTREMELY fast.  I dont understand why I cant seem to get flash to work right.  Initially I thought it was just because I had an old version but I upgraded to the newest version and its still the same.  I finally downloaded firefox and chrome to see the difference and they both work alot better then IE but not perfect.  Still kinda choppy.  IE is by far the worst though giving me sometimes a blank page, only way to view it then is to highlight the page and magically the flash document appears.  Other times its just extremely slow and doesnt always load the entire page or object.  I am currently updated to the newest releases of IE ( i think its 10 but it was still doing the same thing in ie8 or whatever it was before i updated that aswell i think), Mozilla Firefox and google chrome.  As I said much better but not 100% on firefox and chrome but I much prefer IE and its barely if it all working there.  Any suggestions? (newest flash installed aswell) Check out my specs below see what you think?
Mobo: MSI 970a-ga46 (latest bios update i think 2.1)
Processor: AMD FX-8350 4.0ghz (Slightly OCd to 4.3ghz never above 50degrees)
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit (updated to latest updates with all .net framework installed/updated if thats relevant)
Graphics Card: Currently using Zotac Geforce GTS 250, but my gf literally just now went to go pick up my new Sparkle GTX 560ti from the post office. I will post if the change effects flash at all but I dont imagine flash takes much power as the GTS250 already ran every game on max and never had issues before (only part from old system)
Storage: Corsair Force Series 3 90gb SSD
I think most everything else is fairly irrelevant if half of that wasnt anyways and as I mentioned I dont have the versions but i updated flash to the newest and it worked the same before as after.  I am not sure if I updated explorer before or after I checked if flash worked though but I have the latest explorer version.  I think its mainly IE but I still dont like the performance of the chrome/firefox either (might just be my somewhat slow internet on those though but IE is jacked).  Thanks for your time please let me know if any suggestions or questions.
                                                        -David
    Post edit: flash version: 11.7.700.202
    IE version :10.0.9200.16576
    firefox: 21.0
    chrome: 27.0.1453.93 m
not sure if they are updated as of today was like a week ago but i pulled the versions from each

Thank you for your prompt answer Pat.  The weirdest thing I install the new graphics card, No issues in IE with flash.  I tested that same page you linked (find version page) with the other video card and it was very choppy but loaded fairly fast.  Now its mostly smooth but the ball still gets choppy which I assume it should be smooth.  I was using camel.com as a test as they seem to use alot of flash based content.  I seem to have no issues now (other then the ball getting choppy randomly).  I dont know what could have possibly been wrong with the other card.  I do know that my computer boots up differently with this new card.  When I installed it initially my computer started showed the bios splash and instantly turned off (scared me).  So I push power again and theres a black screen with a few words about some driver being loaded or something and something about nvidia corporation (dont get long time to look at it really).  Then it dissappears goes to bios splash then windows.  I tried to fresh install the driver (same driver from previous card auto-installed when i got into windows i then uninstalled and installed fresh newest version) and this issue continues to happen.  Slows my boot time significantly.  Also now when I restart my computer it doesnt power down at all it just continues to run (used to reset, the lights would flash off for a moment then back on, fans would turn off etc.).  I dont know if this is a problem or a feature or what but its a little worry-some.
Anyways I suppose the new issue (if it is a issue) is un-related to adobe.  I guess maybe there was something wrong with the GTS250?  I really am confused as to what it could have been.  But all seems well with flash now.  Again thanks for your prompt response and sorry for the waste of time.  If you have any knowledge in the graphics card department any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again

  • Firefox for Mac is extremely slow to load YouTube videos

Every time I go to watch a YouTube video, it takes forever for the video to begin playing. When it does finally start, the quality is often very low, at 240p or 144p. I also have Chrome and Safari installed on my laptop and they do not have any problems playing videos. It is only Firefox. Also, I do not have this problem on my family's laptop, which runs Windows. It is only on my Macbook Pro.
Also, sometimes, various websites take a very long time to load, but this is not nearly as frequent as my problem with YouTube videos.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, starting in Safe Mode, disabling various add-ons and plugins, clearing browsing data, and nothing has worked.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • IWork apps extremely slow to load unless I disable internet connection?

Launching any of the iWork apps is extremely slow (30 to 45 seconds) on brand new current model 21" iMac running Snow Leopard. When you check activity monitor the app usually shows not responding for most of the 30 to 45 seconds then eventually it responds and loads.
However, if I remove the ethernet cable from the iMac (turning off access to the inernet) all the apps launch almost instantly, no more than a 2 seconds.
We have a very slow DSL at the school so I suspect that the iWorks apps are checking something on the internet during launch but I cannot find anything in the settings that I can turn off to prevent whatever it is these apps are checking during launch.
I am hoping someone has seen this before and has a suggestion as the only work around is removing the ethernet, launching Pages or Numbers and then plugging the ethernet back in.
    Dennis

Check if Pages is trying to open a template from another computer. Easiest would be just to in Pages preferences > Use template > Choose button > make sure you select an template on this computer. If it is trying to open one on another which it can't connect to it would take time.
