I thought that my Camera Raw 7.3 was the older version, but in fact, I believe that Julieanne was using the older version in some of her videos, that threw me off!

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later

  • Adobe camera raw and the nikon D80 in photoshop CS version 8

How can I open RAW files from my nikon D80 in photoshop CS version 8 ? At the moment I have to open and edit my RAW files through Nikon View NX and then convert the files to Jpeg, dump them in a folder and then re-open them as Jpegs in photoshop, it's a very frustrating process so I'd really appreciate it if anyone can tell me how I can open them straight into photoshop, I really can't take this cross platform editing !!!! Thanks

  • Using Adobe Camera Raw as External Editor

I've recently purchased Aperture 2.1 and am very pleased with everything thus far. I capture the majority of my photos in the RAW format (Nikon NEF specifically), and the one thing I'm trying to work out is this - with iPhoto I am able to choose Adobe Photoshop as my 'External Editor,' and when opening an image for adjustments, iPhoto sends the the picture in its native format. Consequently, RAW formatted images open with the Adobe Camera RAW plug-in, jpegs right into Photoshop and so on. With Aperture I notice that I am still able to select Photoshop as my 'External Editor,' but instead of sending the native format, Aperture allows only the 'temporary' format options of TIFF and PSD (8 and 16-bit). Needless to say, the files open directly into Photoshop -instead of the Camera RAW plug-in that I would prefer for my RAW files. Does anyone know of any work-arounds or possible solutions to this issue?

iPhoto has no RAW conversion controls, but just makes a copy of the file for iPhoto edits.
When you choose to edit it in photoshop, it sends the original over to Adobe Camera RAW. This is NOT a non-destructive workflow.
Aperture has its own RAW converter- a quite good one- so the need for ACR is removed, and the workflow IS non-destructive. You should only be going to Photoshop for the things that Aperture is not designed to do like compositing and hi-end retouching
The only work around is to export the master then open it in ACR, but that workflow would be senseless.
Honestly, if you prefer ACR, then you should be using Bridge or Lightroom for DAM as well.

  • Adobe Camera Raw - Cancel a crop or straighten - ESC not working

    Hey Guys,
I am trying to learn photoshop for the first time.  I currently have Photoshop CS5.1, but am thinking about upgrading to CC in the near future.  I have been following along with tutorials on Lynda.com in order to learn all of the functionality of the program.
I am currently in the section learning about Adobe Camera RAW and how to utilize it.  The instructor was talking about using the straighten tool or crop tool and how it is not destructive to the image at all.  He says to click on either tool and then hit the ESC key to revert the changes that you made.  However, when I do this, it exits me out of Adobe Camera RAW all together.  I thought initially that it might be because I was in full screen mode, but i hit the F key and tried it again with the same outcome.
What am I doing wrong?  How do I fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you open an image in camera raw, draw out the crop tool and then press the Esc key, what happens?
I just messed with it further tonight.  It looks like it is working correctly with the 'Crop' tool.  However, it is not working correct with the Straighten tool.  I use the straighten tool, click enter to straighten the image.  If the image does not look correct to me, I click on the straighten tool again and hit the ESC key to revert it back to the original.  As soon as I hit the ESC key (while clicked on the straighten tool) it closes out of Adobe Camera RAW and goes back to Adobe Bridge.
Which operating system are you using?
    I am using OS X 10.10.1 (Yosemite)
Which version of camera raw are you using?
I am on Adobe Camera RAW Ver. 6.7
Both Photoshop and Bridge are CS5.1
You can see the version listed at the top of the camera raw dialog when not in full screen mode.

  • Where do I find the white or shadow sliders in Adobe Camera Raw 8.71

Where do I find the white or shadow sliders in Adobe Camera Raw 8.71  I just downloaded Photoshop from Creative Cloud as an update to my CS 5, yet these sliders are not there. Thanks!

In CR the dialog has changed to new setting. Old images have to be updated to the new process. Now all sliders to the left bring a darker result, to the right a brighter result.
New process is much finer than the old, you have to work it for a while but you will like it, when you are used to the new behavior.

  • Adobe Camera Raw 5.3 vs. 4.2

Just noticed (Adobe website) that there is a new version of Adobe Camera Raw available.  I am using Photoshop Elements 6 which comes with Adobe Camera Raw 4.2.  The latest version is ACR5.3.  Does anyone know if there are any new features or capabilities I can get by downloading and installing this later version?  Or, did they just add support for more cameras?  I think they now support the D3 or D3X which would not affect me since my camera (D40x) is already supported.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

You should always use the latest version of ACR, that your version of Photoshop/Elemenst can use, because there could also be bug fixes and improvements beside supporting later cameras models in the latest ACR.
See this TechNote for information on what is the latest version of ACR that can be used with which version of Photoshop/Elements:-

  • I cannot access Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in although it's listed in CS6 "PHOTOSHOP" menu along with my other plug ins.  And I can't find it on my iMAC (10.9.5)

In CS6, how do I access the Adobe Camera Raw plug in that's listed with my other (easily accessible) plug ins:  I can't find it through "automate", or "Filter" or "extensions"..  I am on iMAC 10.9.5 (Mavericks)

I believe camera raw as a filter is CC only. You can access camera raw by selecting a raw, tiff or jpg image from your drive. Raw is the only one that will open by default. You must tell camera raw to open tiff and jpg in the preferences.
You can also use file>open or file>place then specify camera raw as file type. In this case it will open any of the three formats without changing the preferences.
Once the image is in Photoshop, it should be a smart object if you choose open as object instead of open as image in camera raw. As a smart object, you can double click on the thumbnail in the layers panel. This will open camera raw with that image.

  • I need to get the Adobe Camera Raw to convert my Raw shots to jpeg.  Do I buy Photoshop CS6 or Photoshop CC?  I am not a professional photographer and am only using photoshop sparingly.

I need to get the Adobe Camera Raw to convert my Raw shots to jpeg.  Do I buy Photoshop CS6, Photoshop CC or can I just get simply the ACR?  I am not a professional photographer and am only using photoshop sparingly.  I currently have an old version of Photoshop, the Photoshop CS4.  Thanks.

The program would stop, but the files would remain on your computer. Before stopping, you could do a batch convert to tiff or png, with a strong recommendation for tiff. Png only support transparency whereas tiff supports layers, live type, transparency, etc.
Keep in mind the app you open the tiff file in may not support all of those features, but it could if they tried.
The psd files I would backup to a cd or dvd before removing for space, but if you have the room, keep them as some apps do support psd files.
Best part is when you are ready, you can start your subscription again and use all of those files once again.

  • Adobe camera raw will not respond in bridge cs6?

adobe camera raw does not respond in adobe bridge? I am trying to open Jpegs, which i have previously been able to do so by right clicking and opening in adobe camera raw. Now it is unresponsive.

You are definitely in the wrong forum for Bridge CS6 and Adobe Camera Raw. You have posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing focus).
You probably want to be posting in the Photoshop Forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop
My preliminary findings suggest possible workaround
    a. Open camera raw in Photoshop 5 or 5.5 and then open edited raw image in Bridge CS6
    or
    b. There is a preferences route to check out.
Not being a Photoshop user, this is a quick suggestion where you might start looking. This is apparently a known issue.
The Photoshop users should be able to give you all the details and options you have for workarounds for now.

  • I am trying to download the Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 upgrade for CS6.  The files will not unzip.

I am trying to download the Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 upgrade.  The zipped files download, but when I try to extract the zipped files, I get an error message saying that there is already a file with the same name as the folder name I specified, and that I should specify a different name.  The four zipped components are META-INF [Folder], payloads [Folder], AdobePatchInstaller [Application file\, and payloads [File].  Evidently, there is a conflict between the payloads folder and the payloads file, but I cannot be sure.  All filenames came from the download.

Are you using CS6 applications ? Camera Raw 7.1 is only compatible with CS6 applications. Try this as mentioned on http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5391
For Photoshop CS6 and Creative Suite 6 customers, we recommend that you install Camera Raw 7.1 by selecting Updates from the Help menu and follow the on-screen dialogs to download and install the latest available Camera Raw update. You can also click the link below to download an installer that replaces the existing Camera Raw plug-in with Camera Raw 7.1 for all CS6 applications.

  • Does Adobe Camera Raw updated to Mirrorless Cameras yet? I was specifically asking for Photoshop CS 6.

Does Adobe Camera Raw(CS6) have updates for Mirrorless Camera Raw Files?

Here is a list of all the cameras that are supported by Adobe Camera Raw:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
I'm not familiar enough with camera models to pick out the ones that might be mirrorless. You are probably aware that there is a Camera Raw 8.6 available for Photoshop CS6. It will support all of the listed cameras. However, any new features that have been added to Camera Raw 8.x will not be available. Those new features are only available in Photoshop CC.
