Adobe Camera Raw  for Nikon - generate JPEG with color off

Hi,
I am learning Photoshop and Camera RAW. I am using CS2 and ACR 3.7 on Windows XP.
I have noticed that the JPEG file generated by CAMERA RAW has the color slightly off (towards the bluish direction).
This is what I did, I started Adobe Bridge, I opened up the Nikon RAW file (from D200) with Camera RAW and then generated the JPEG file without using any AUTO or custom setting (took the As SHOT setting). After the JPEG file is generated, I compared the JPEG file, with the file on Camera RAW window, the color of the pictures don't match up. So what you see on Camera RAW window is not what you get in JPEG. The color shown in the Camera RAW window is warmer than the JPEG file. I used the Widnows default jpeg viewer and the Arcsoft Editor to look at the JPEG file, and confirmed the color of the JPEG file is off from the original RAW filed viewed Camera RAW widnow.
However, when I opened that same JPEG file (generated by Camera Raw) in Adobe Photoshop, and the original RAW file (without any modification) in Photoshop, the color of the JPEG file matches up the color of the original RAW file only in Photogroup. I am confused now.
Why the color of the JPEG file (generated by Camera RAW) looks OK on photoshop, but it is off in other viewers (default Windows viewer or ArcSoft Editor). However, when I used PictureProject (supplied by Nikon) to generate the JPEG file from that same original RAW file (without any modification), and I looked at the JPEG file (generated by PictureProject) on Photoshop, Arcsoft Editor, and default Windows viewer, the color matches up to the original RAW file on all viewers. So the problem only happens to the JPEG file generated by Camera Raw. Any idea?
Thanks,

When you saved out the JPEG in Camera Raw, what color space did you save it with?

  • Adobe Camera Raw for Nikon D600

I have just purchased a Nikon D600 camera and am looking to use it with my Photoshop CS4 and ACR 5.7. Is Adobe going to upgrade ACR 5.7 for the Nikon D600 or do I need to upgrade to CS6 and the latest version of ACR?

    Hi Ivan,
Yes you will need to upgrade to photoshop cs6 to use the latest version of camera raw (7.2).
However you can use the free DNG Converter 7.2 to convert the D600 files to dng copies which cs4 should then open in camera raw 5.7.

    Hi
My plan was to buy Lightroom version 4, (I hope that ACR in LR4
includes support for Nikon D7000) can I than (after ACR editing) open
the file in elements 8? and use the edit function in Elements8? what I
understand lightroom does not have edit functions like Elements have?
(but maybe it's enough woth ACR edit function) But just now the
problem with light room is that I use windows XP, and LR4 need Vista
    or Windows7.

You need to download and install ACR 6.7, which will work with CS5 and with your D800. ACR 7.1 only works with Photoshop CS6.

  • Is there a way to get Adobe Camera Raw to appear in "Open With" drop down?

    HI,
I was wondering if there might be a way to get a direct link to Adobe Camera Raw to appear in "Open With" drop down menu along with the other choices?

I would think you'd just need to select the Adobe Application you're using... whichever that one is, then the APP would know what to do with RAW.
What are they set for now?

    Yes according to this list:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Elements 13 can be updated to ACR 9 from the menu Help/Updates. The D810 requires only ACR 8.6.

  • CS-4 Camera Raw for Nikon D7000

Using the Help -> Update my CS-4 saya there are no updates available at this time.  However, Photoshop and Bridge cannot show images for the Nikon D7000 or the Nikon D3100.  The latest Camera Raw update (for CS-5) will not install in CS-4.  Short of buying CS-5 is there a way to update Camera Raw for CS-4?

Cs4 doesn't support the needed 6.3 camera raw plugin, but
you could use the 6.3 dng converter to convert your camera raw files to
the dng format so cs4 and bridge can read the files.

  • Adobe Camera Raw for PS 7.0?

I have Photoshop 7.0 and would like to add Adobe Camera Raw in order to edit Canon .cs2 files from my Canon 30D. I have Window XP Professional.
    Thanks.

There is nothing available that will enable you to integrate Camera Raw into a Photoshop 7 work flow. You need at least Photoshop CS. But to take advantage of all of the recent developments in ACR you should consider upgrading to Photoshop CS3.
As an alternative, you could purchase Photoshop Elements. ACR works with that program, although all the controls are not available.

  • When will adobe camera RAW be available to work with Pentax K-3 in elements 11?

Hi - I am running Photoshop Elements 11 and shooting with a Pentax K-3.
When in college I am able to open the PEF files and make adjustments in Adobe Camera RAW, however, when I am using elements 11 at home I get a message saying that my Camera is not supported.
Obviously I would like to be able to make some adjustments outside of college to speed things up a little.
I don't really want to go to the pay monthly Photoshop as I already have Elements11 and Lightroom!
Is there any other way that I can get camera raw? I have the Pentax Silkipix software but it's not as user friendly as Camera raw.
Is Adobe camera raw available to buy as stand alone software? Are there any plans to support k-3 PEF raw files in elements any time soon?
    Any help gratefully received.

    Hi,
To read the PEF files from the K-3 you need camera raw 8.3 but that is not compatible with PSE 11.
You would either need to upgrade to a later version of PSE or download the Adobe DNG converter. You can then convert the PEF files to DNG files and the DNG files could then be edited by PSE 11.
It looks as though the K-3 can be set to save the images in DNG format. Have you tried switching to that format? The files should then be able to be read by both systems.

  • Camera Raw for Nikon D4

  • "Save image" button of Camera Raw does not save JPEG with modifications made.

I am using Bridge CC to process my RAW images and make modifications to some JPEG images as well.  I have no need to further alter images in Photoshop at the moment, so I do all modifications in Camera Raw. After altering my images, I then press the "save image" button at the left bottom corner of Camera Raw and choose the settings to save in JPEG.  However, when I upload these JPEG images to a website or when I email them, the image is uploaded without the modifications I had done!  It seems to me that Camera Raw is saving JPEGs the same way it does for RAW images, in a non-destructive manner, only attaching instructions for the images to be displayed properly on Photoshop. But when I save an image in JPEG, I expect the image to be saved entirely with the modifications I made while still keeping the original RAW file.  What goes on then?  What is Camera Raw doing and how do I get to save a modified image in JPEG with Camera Raw?  Would you please explain?
    Many thanks for your help,
    Beza

  • CS3 and camera raw for Nikon D5000

I have dowloded the 4.6 plug in (installed automaticallywith updater). I still can not open my raw images
in cs3.  Is the Nikon D5000 only supported by cs4?

Camera RAW support is only added to whatever version of Photoshop is current at the time the camera is released which would have been CS4 for your newish camera.
CS5 is just around the corner (next 2-3 months) as is Lightroom 3, which will both have the ACR 6 color engine so if you can wait, that would be the version to upgrade to.
In the mean time, you can use the DNG Converter 5.6 to convert your RAWs to DNG (saving the original RAW somewhere in case something happens) and use whatever version of ACR you want.   The DNG Converter will give you a choice of what version of ACR to be backwards compatible with.
