Adobe cannot see my printer....

Hello. this is my first question on this site as previously, I've never had any problems with Adobe!
My issue is that I have installed a new printer and now Adobe cannot see this printer.
I have Windows 7 and my previous printer was an HP which I could use both hard wired and wirelessly to print pdf's. The reason I have changed my printer is that my old printer did not have the ability to be plugged straight into my router but had to be plugged into an old tower pc that I had in order for me to use it wirelessly!
So, today, I plugged my new Brother MFC-5890CN straight into the router, found it on my laptop and voila everything was perfect. I printed a few word documents and also some stuff from the net but when I went to print a pdf - nothing.
Things I have tried, with a restart in between.
Deleting my printer and re-installing.
Deleting my printer and re-installing with software obtained from Brother website.
Deleting Adobe Reader and re-installing. (Which gave me a more recent version)
Plugging the Brother printer into my laptop with a USB cable
The weird thing is that my husband can print pdf's from his laptop when he connects wirelessly to the Brother printer?
So its obviously some issue with my laptop and Adobe...
I feel like I need to be able to get Adobe to reset its printer list. For some reason, although I have deleted my old printer from my machine, that is the printer that comes up as the printer that Adobe wants to use?
I cannot set my printer as Default either but that is a long standing issue as I couldn't do that with my old printer. It comes up with error message 0x00000709.
Please does anyone have any help for me????
Sarah

Are you still facing this issue?
Did you try re-starting the spooler services from your machine?

  • Cannot see the printer options or preferences page

    Hi,
We have a number of computers that cannot see the printer options or the preferences page options. See the print screen below to see what i mean...
I've reinstalled adober reader X, with no luck.
Has anyone else had the same issue?
    Cheers

Hi, unfortunately, I have the same problem: After installing Adobe Reader 10.1 on my MacBook 3,1 OS 10.6.8, printing pdf-files is impossible as the printer options / preference page is not shown anymore. I have reinstalled AR 10.1, I have reinstalled Snow Leopard, I have reinstalled AR 10.1 without success. Only once, there was a hint by AR: "internal problem, lack of ressource file". Other files (preview, MS word, etc.) print without problems. I would be glad to receive a hint how to solve this problem.

  • I cannot see the print button on the bottom tab in order to print a document even when I hide to tool bar.

I recently changed my computer software from Vista to Window & Ultimate. Since changing, I cannot see the print button which should be at the bottom. I have tried to hide the bottom toolbar but it still does not allow me to see the print button. Please give me directions in easy to read English.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible:
    *"View > Toolbars"
Open the Customize window to set which toolbar items to display:
    *View > Toolbars > Customize
*Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout
*Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

    Hi grandslam36,
I see that you're trying to print using your iPad.  I would take a look at the document below.
    Hp Photosmart 5520
Let me know how it goes.

  • I imported photos from an old iPhoto (2001) to photo library and can now see them as thumbnails but not when I click on them. The screen is black cannot see or print either. Is there any way to salvage those old photos? I now use iLife09. OS 10.6

I imported photos from an old iPhoto (2001) to photo library and can now see them only as thumbnails but not when I click on them. The screen is black cannot see or print either. Is there any way to salvage those old photos? I now use iLife09. OS 10.6

Did you import the old iPhoto library into the new one? That's not what you want to do because you will import all of the original, modified and thumbnail files as if they were original files. Lots of duplicates and useless small photos.
Do you have a backup copy of the library that you imported into to?  If you do then bring it in and then use  iPhoto Library Manager to merge the two libraries into a new, 3rd library.
If you don't then you'll have to try to fix the current one and then cull out the duplicates and small useless photos as follows:  make a temporary, duplicate copy of your library and apply the three fixes in order as necessary.
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your HD/User/Home()/ Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your HD/User/Home()/Library /Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If this doesn't fix the problem you'll have to start over from scratch and create a new library from the files inside the Originals folder of your current library.  But first you should cull out the small photos that would be the thumbnails from the 2001 library.
Move the Originals folder to the Desktop, open and do a search for Kind=photo, File size is less than 10 KB.  That should find all of the thumbnail files which you can then drag to the Trash.  You might have to make that less than 50 KB. Then Import the remaining photos into a new iPhoto library.

  • Reader 9.3 cannot see my printer....

Installed Adobe Reader 9.3 on an HP Touchsmart desktop running Vista linked to an HP Photosmart multifunction printer.
This set-up works fine for all other programs and apps.
Trying to print a .pdf and it comes up with an error message saying that I need to install a printer.......and if I click on print set-up the program just hangs.
Have trawled for solutions, re-installed 9.3 twice and still no joy.
Any help or advice gratefully received
    Thanks
    Simon

Sometimes, a printer may appear as a bonjour wireless printer
and have to be looked for that way before it can be used wi-fi.
One of mine, a USB printer used via an AirPort Express, was
that way initially and then later on, it appears listed, regularly.
Not sure how your configuration is set up, but there are options
in how it could work; try a bit troubleshooting, or trial & error.
Most of the settings are in System Preferences, to share print.
There is a setting in Sharing> Firewall that may be needed to share
a printer, but I am not sure if that'd affect using it wireless in the way
you had expected to use it.
Print and Fax panel has a section to choose to share available
    printers with networked computers.
An AirPort Express plus a USB powered hub could be used to add
more than one computer to share a printer. That may work, or not.
One computer could see the same printer by wire, another wireless.
The ideal network printer in a shared environment would need a
bit of work to make the configuration work for either/or both without
having to have both of the computers on to print from the iBook.
PS: Some printer utility functions may not work wirelessly, such
as the ones that clean the heads and let you know ink volumes.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • New problem printing from financial websites - print button sends file to a "cgi" extension and adobe cannot open and print.

I used to be able to print my bank statements directly from the website to my printer. Now the print program sends the file to a file with a "cgi" extension and saves it on my desktop but as an Adobe file. When i open it to print, Adobe says it is not supported or corrupt. running windows 7 on PC.

    mmsteer,
I think I may be able to help you with this problem, which I was having with CS4 when I first upgraded to Lion, and others were having with CS3. This fix is courtesy of Aisolve on these discussion boards:
Remove the Adobe PDF PPDs from the following folders:
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj,
Be sure to go to your system Library, not your user Library.
Also, regarding my current problem, I spoke with an Apple tech person and found that the 10.7.2 upgrade apparently is the culprit, and is incompatible with wireless printing to my Lanier printer. I CAN print connected through USB. That's a work-around for now, but I'll need to contact Lanier about upgrading their driver for OS X 10.7.2.
Aisolve was helping me with this issue, too, and assures me that if I'm able to generate a postscript file (which I was), and able to generate a PDF by distlling it through Adobe Distiller (which I am), then I can safely assume that the problem lies with the hardware, in this case the printer driver. This lines up with what Apple told me.

  • Samba cannot see vista printer(SOLVED)

Hi.  I'm new to these forums, as far as posting anyways.  I've recently switched from Ubuntu to Arch on my laptop and everything couldn't be better.  My problem, however, lies within my Samba server.  (or so I think):/  Here is the issue:
I have a desktop running Windows Vista, on which my HP C4200 all-in-one is hooked up to via USB.  I have gone through the process of making sure it is shared out and all neccessary permissions have been granted on the Vista end.  In my Vista 'Network' location I can see that the printer is indeed shared and is accessable.  Unfortunately when I try to install a network printer on the Arch box, using the hp-toolbox, it finds nothing.  Even with firewall disabled it sees nothing. (that's another peculiar question; I have ports 137-139 and 445 open for samba but with firewall enabled my computers can't see each other) Now here are the peculiarities:
    1.  Before I installed Vista on the desktop I was able to print across the network flawlessly between Ubuntu and XP.  After installing Vista I was no longer able to print over the network. (Ubuntu nor Arch)
    2.  Both computers can see each other just fine and I have access to files on either end.
The thing I don't get is that I've been scrubbing the forums and Google about this for months now with no luck.  I have come across many threads similar to this issue but not exact enough or with any solutions that have been any help to me.  For now I just have to go to the desktop to print files from my Arch box.
This is very irritating and I hope someone may be able to shed some light on ths for me.

I have a Canon (used to have HP) printer hooked up to a Vista machine, and I can print to it from my Ubuntu and Arch machines. I can't see it, for example, using smbtree, or with the network browser in Ubuntu-Nautilus. Each time I set it up, I've manually entered the printer either in CUPS (Arch) or in the Printer Setup (Ubuntu) as follows:
smb://HOME/192.168.0.100/canon, with HOME being the workgroup, 192.1680.100 is the IP of the Vista machine, and canon being the printer share name. Make sure your workgroup in smb.conf is the same (although I'm not 100% sure that's necessary). I use a static IP for our desktop machines, so I use the IP instead of network names, since sometimes the naming doesn't work as well or requires additional configuration. Worked the same way with the HP printer.
    Good luck!

  • Cannot see air print printer

I can print wirelessly from my Imac but Ipad and Iphone do not find air print printer. Any ideas

    1. Buy a AirPrint enabled printer; see list below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
    2. Run the CD provided and setup as network printer; this will setup your printer to the same network as your iPad
    3. Start printing from your iPad without wires
Note: Make sure you have AirPrint enabled printer

    Hello @A-joudeh,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that while attempting to update the Firmware on your HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer you ran into issues and ultimately ended up loading the commerical HP Laserjet 3020 All-in-One Printer firmware on your consumer HP Laserjet Pro CP1525nw Printer. In doing this you have corrupted your printers programming. Unfortunately, when this occurs you are left with a unresponsive product that will need to be replaced.
At this time, due to the programming hardware failure of your product I recommend that you contact our Technical Support queue by phone to explore additional replacement options.

  • HP 8625, cannot see Print Preview or Select Pages

On my new HP 8625, I cannot see the Print Preview feature nor can I select to print specific pages.  This used to work on my HP c309, so I'm thinking perhaps it's a printer driver issue.  I am specificially having this issue with Excel but it may be occuring in other programs as well.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for any info.

Hello @TheEveryman , welcome to the forums
I would first suggest checking to see if you have Print Preview and the option to print specific pages from other programs, besides Excel as this will show us if the problem is solely within MS Excel, or all programs, which could be a driver issue.
Skipping forward a little bit and assuming the issue is in all programs, you could try Uninstalling the Printer Software, restarting the computer and reinstalling the printer, here: HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers.
Please let me know which operating system you're running on your computer and the results from testing the other programs on your computer. The more detail you include, the better!
Have a great day and hope to hear back from you

My router is wireless Belkin Surf N300 and it's on line, the printer is also on line in the same wireless network as also the IPAD. Only if I use the direct wireless I can see the printer, otherwise not. If I use the AiO remote APP I cannot see the printer when it's connected to the wireless network, I can only see when I use direct wireless. If I enter the printer IP address from browser when I am connected to the wireless network, I can see all data from printer, I can see also my router typing it's address.
    Can some one help me?
    Thanks

    Hi zagar,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that your iPad is not finding the printer unless it is connect by Wireless Direct.
I have included a link to another thread here on the forum addressing a similar issue.  As you read through the thread you will find several steps to try.  Please let me know if none of the steps correct the issue.

  • Cannot find HP printer after upgrade to Home Hub 3...

    Hello
an engineer installed a home hub 3/infinity this morning and left after about 10mins giving me a tiny getting-started booklet, a CD, and a couple of stickers to show my network keys etc. Whilst I can access the internet with my laptop, and iphone, I am tearing my hair out now (8hours later) in trying to print anything!
I am running on Macbook Air MacOS 10.7. My printer is HP deskjet F4580.
My mac cannot see the printer, in System Preferences.
The blue wireless light flashes continuously on the printer.
I have been all over various forums and I just don't have a clue what most of them are talking about.
I have printed out a wireless network test report from the printer and it seems to show the old network name (for my old home hub 2) but if this is the problem I have no idea how to change it. I can't even find the driver menu's any more. And, now i just discovered on an HP thread that there might be an inherent "firmware"(?) issue regarding BT Home Hub 3 and HP printers.
I would appreciate any insights and would be grateful for any step-by-step help, thank you. (so wanting my old home hub 2 back!)

Have a look at this link. It takes you through the set up
    http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/reconfiguring-system-help3.html
Another option would be to change the new Homehub to have the same name and passkey as your old HH2 then the printer should find it. It would mean logging all your other devices back on once you had done this. See this link how to do that.

  • Ipad refuses to 'see' my printer

I am not at all sure where my problem stems from. My ipad cannot 'see' my printer (and nor can my iphone), but I downloaded the HP printer App and that can find it no problem at all. My Airport Extreme appears to be set up and working properly so I'm a bit lost. Any suggestions??

Hi Barbara, welcome to the Apple Discussions and Happy New Year.
What HP printer model do you have? How are you trying to print, via AirPrint or through the router?
If AirPrint, the AirPrint enabled printers are here:

  • 8500A Plus - iPad (iOS 4.2.1) cannot find the printer

Have had a 8500A plus for a couple of weeks.  All works well.
Downloaded 4.2.1 onto iPad this morning (23 Nov) expecting to be able to print directly to the printer. However the iPad cannot "see" the printer.  Any ideas?
There are no "Product updates" available for the printer (I checked on the printer itself).  I take that to be similar to a firmware update?  I had read somewhere else that the 8500A may have a compatibility problem that prevents it connecting to iPads and needs a firmware update.  If so, is one out or is it still to come?
I am in New Zealand (if that makes any difference).

    Hello,
Please check out this URL for list of HP's AirPrint compatible printers
    http://www.hp.com/sbso/printing/mac/apple-airprint.pdf
There will be a firmware update coming soon for the Officejet 8500A that will enable AirPrint compatibility
