Adobe Captivate 5 not saving

Today when trying to save my Captivate file I am getting the following error and it is topping at 50% complete....
"Failed to add file to zip 2 compressed_data/data-69329916406.cpd . Unknown exception. The save file might get corrupted. You should try creating the zip again."
I have no idea what this means or what the fix is. Has anyone experienced this.
Windows Vista 64 bit.
Thanks for your help.

This error is telling you that Captivate cannot complete the save because it can't successfully zip one of the component files of your project.
A CPTX file is actually a zip file. If you go to your My Documents > Adobe Captivate Cached Projects folder and open any of the folders there, dig down inside the db folder and you'll find another folder called compressed_data inside which there are a number of cpd files.  These are all the components of your Captivate project. One of these components is causing the issue.
First try clearing your cache under Preferences > Global Settings > Clear Cache and try saving again.
If this still doesn't fix the issue, you're going to have to start deleting stuff out of your project to locate the offending item.  The usual suspects are any Flash animations, text animations, videos, captures of typing text.
Try saving your project as another file name and then deleting slides until you can successfully save.  Something in what you deleted will be causing the issue.

  • Re: Navigation in adobe captivate not working?

I am facing an issue with adobe captivate swf generation.......
I have generated an swf presentation using Adobe Captivate 4.
The generated swf looks as in the above image.
I searched the in the internet,  but couldnt find a proper solution
The issue is that i have created a swf using adobe CP,  with slides from a ppt file.
All these slides contain audio files attached to it.....
After publishing, it works well except when clicking on a slide in the Table of Contents
( slide number shown in left of above image),
the   player cannot navigate to the selected slide.
It was first thought of being an issue related to the buffering of the video.
But later on came to know that, even after waiting for long, the slide doesnt get played.
Same is the case when dragged on navigation bar(Shown in the bottom of the above image).
The enable navigation option is set but still the problem persist....
Pls help me if u can.....

    Hi there
Perhaps thy this. Click Project > Table of Contents. Then click the Settings button in the lower left corner. Is there a check mark in the "Enable Navigation" check box?
If you see a check mark, clear it. Then dismiss the dialog. Then click the button again and click to place the check mark there. But if there is NOT a check mark, that's the issue. Navigation hasn't been enabled.

  • Adobe Captivate 'Not Responding' when properties tab is used.

    Hi
Thought I'd share my revelation with you all in case anyone else is having the same problem.
I have just spent the past 2 days trying to figure out why Adobe Captivate 5.5 freezes whenever I try to use most of the options in the properties tab. I have a fairly robust system running windows 7 x64, incorporating a quad core processor, 8gb ram and 2 x 8gb graphics cards. I had tried everything including a complete re-instalation of all my Adobe software, only to discover that I have been a bit daft.
You see, eventually, I came to realise that it only froze when I was trying to adjust the properties of objects that had text in them. Upon checking my 'Fonts' folder I realised that I had over 4000 fonts installed. Initially I tried hiding all but the system fonts but this seemed to achieve nothing so I moved all of the non-system fonts to another folder and 'Hey Presto' Adobe Captivate now works like a dream.
Don't know why it froze when I tried to adjust any of the properties (not just the font) but it did. Now I just need to figure out how I am going to manage all of my fonts.

    Hi there
You might consider trying a freeware application called Font Frenzy.

  • Adobe Audition not saving Meta Data

I'm trying to save file information within an mp3 or wav file for our broadcast software (AudioVault) to read it and the information does not save.
We use versions 1.5 and Version 3 and they both exhibit the same behavior.
I have followed the info below but it doesn't work.
The File Info command opens a dialog box in which you can see and add metadata—descriptive information that a computer can process and search—about the open audio file. For example, metadata can include history, loop, and Broadcast Wave information.
For audio files in WAV, mp3, or CEL format, you can use the File > XMP Info command to add XMP metadata. This extensive metadata can be shared across databases, file formats, and platforms. (See Add or edit XMP metadata.)
    1. In Edit View, choose File > File Info.
    2. Click the tabs at the top of the dialog box to navigate between different sets of properties.
    3. Set properties as desired, and click OK.
To preserve file information when you save files, select Save Extra Non‑Audio Information in the Save dialog box.
It is not saving the start and end date. Here's what I'm doing. Open mp3 file. File-File Info, toggle text field names to Radio Industry.
Fill out Description, Advertiser, start date, end date, click ok. click file, save as (clicking save extra audio infomation)
now close the file and reopen it and the start and end date are gone. Ideas?

After talking with BE I discovered that the following procedure will save
    the
meta data providing it is saved in a WAV format (mp3 doesn't work.)
Open your mixdown in the waveform view.
Hit ctrl P and the wave properties window will appear.
Fill out title, artist. Cut number, category and date.
When you save as make sure save extra non-audio info is checked
Then in the dropdown save as type choose WAV windows pcm.
Your completed file can now be dropped into an AV import folder that should
    transfer
Into the system with all the information in their proper fields.

  • Adobe form not saving user-input data into saved pdf file

    Hi forumers,
I'm a new abap developer and I'm tasked to create an interactive adobe form that will require the user to input data in the form.
No data is passed and received from PDF, but PDF has to be u2018Fillableu2019. I am able to fill out the form but when I actually save the form, it will be saved as a blank form again. I've seen the relevance of the  LS_DOCPARAMS-FILLABLE = 'X' on this forum and I have incorporated it in my code. But how should I code the abap program to enable to save the user input as well into the form.

Not quite yet, I have to say...
If you check the domain "FPINTERACTIVE", you'll see these values:
                   Print Form
X     Interactive Form with Additional Usage Rights
N     Interactive Form Without Additional Usage Rights
    F
So, you are not providing "additional usage rights" (Adobe Form Credentials), meaning there could be a problem when you want to use those forms in a Production environment.

  • Problem with forms created in Adobe 9 not saving in reader X

We have been using fill in forms I created in Adobe 9 pro and suddenly people were complaining they cannot save the form with their information.  I have discovered that all of those people have acrobat reader X.  I looked for solution and found that original form needs to be saved with "extend features in Adobe reader".  when I did this it seems to have corrected problem.  Does anyone know another way to accomplish without redoing the form? There are many forms and they  have been widely distributed and would be difficult to redistribute. They worked fine with Acrobat reader 9.

In order for a modified form to be saved with any recent version of Adobe Reader, the document has to Reader-enabled, which is done in Acrobat 9 by selecting "Advanced > Extend Feature in Adobe Reader". So if the forms worked with Reader 9, they must have had the rights applied through this process or by LiveCycle Reader Extensions. It would be interesting to see a form that is fillable/saveable with Reader 9 that doesn't work with Reader 10.

  • Adobe form not saving data.

    hi Experts,
I am facing strange problems with Adobe forms.
I am working on both Offline and online adobe forms.
adobe form which i make does not allow to save data.
I am using the Adobe liveCycle designer 7.1.
The Adobe reader version is 7.08
and service pack is SPS 11.
I have used both the tutorials for offline and online adobe forms.
    Online Problem :-
The project for online works fine and it also allows to save data(when i save the form on my PC).
But when i create a new form on my machine it does not allow to save data.
Really confuse what the problem is.
    I have also tried this.
Copeid the XDP file from the Online tutorial project into my project
if i use this work around the the problem is resolved. But i am no able to understand why the XDP CREATED on my machine does not work.
    Offline problem:-
In this case i am not able to save data in the form at all.
As the PDF created itself not allow to save data.
    Please help.
Points would be awarded to helpful answers.
    Regards,
    Sanjyoti.

    Hi Satya & sanjyoti,
I am facing a pecular problem in using Adobe forms.
I am able to pass data from webdynpo application, to the Interactive form(using mappings, as mentioned by satya).
But for the same form & WD application, i am not able to pass data from the Interactive Form, back to the WD application.
    My scenario is like this:
I need to show a form, with some prefilled data, such as date, userID, etc. I populate the node in my WD application, & then call the form.
The form displays the above prefilled data. Now the user has to fill the remaining fields & click on submit(Submit-to-sap button). The onsubmit property of the Interactive form is mapped to a onaction event, where WD tries to read the data entered by the user.
The problem is that on clicking of the submit button in the form, the event is not getting called.
If i use a button in the WD view itself, then the action gets called, but there is no data. In short, the data is NOT getting passed from Interactive form to WD application.
Can you please help me out with this?
    Thanks,
    Hanoz

  • Adobe Captivate not publishing results

    Hi,
We appear to be having a problem with Captivate where it's not publishing results to a network drive.
We have applied the fix as details below:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
3rd tab along, click 'Always Allow'
    Add
    T:\
    \\my-network-path\tdrive\
I have tried this however its not publishing results.
Does anyone have any ideas on why this would not be working?
    Thanks

The Flash Global Security settings govern whether or not content on a LAN or remote drive will play properly for the user that adds this location to their trusted settings.  However, it doesn't necessarily give you PERMISSION TO UPLOAD published content to that location.
If you're having difficulty getting Captivate content published TO the location (as opposed to playing it from there) then you need to investigate whether or not you have write permissions for that folder.  This is  network administration thing, not usually connected to Flash security. It could also be that there is some restriction built into your IT network that will only allow certain filetypes to be uploaded.
Bottom line is that you may need to check with your IT dudes.

  • Adobe captivate not reporting to quiz results analyzer

    Hello,

I'd the same problem when the quiz and the quiz results were on different servers. But since I moved the quiz results (with the .php files in the root) to the same server where the quiz is, everything is ok.

  • Adobe Captivate 3 does not load

After installing Captivate 3 and using it successfully for a
week. All of a sudden the program will not open. It gets stuck at
the "Copying First Run Files" then the splash screen disappears.
How can I solve this? I am completely lost and out of ideas.

    Welcome to our community, Eric
You might need to reset the Captivate Settings file. (I call
this "Whacking Captivate upside the head").
    To reset the settings file:
    Ensure Captivate is closed.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location:
    ?:\Documents and Settings\????\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate
Note that ? represents the drive letter you are using and
???? represents your logged in user name.
Rename or delete the file named
    captivate_v30.dat
Restart Captivate and hopefully things will be improved.

  • Adobe Captivate 4 not detecting latest Flash Player

    Hi,
I just put together a new laptop, and insatlled all the normal programs/drivers - flash player, adobe reader, etc.
I installed Flash Player 10 from your website, and received the confirmation flash screen "Congratulations you now have the latest..."
I installed Adobe Captivate 4 - Trial Version from your website without any problems downloading.
This is not my first attempt at installing/un-installing/re-installing both Captivate 4 and Flash Player 10 on this computer - I'm on my fourth attempt at reinstalling both programs.
I am running Vista Ultimate x86.
This computer meets all system requirements by Adobe Captivate 4.
Is this a problem with Captivate, Flash Player, or (doubtful) my computer?
    Thanks!

    Lilybiri,
This is odd, I am certain that I read an addendum on the Flash 10 download page last week, it explained that the incompatibility problem was fixed.
That message is no longer present today.
Other than that, some security changes were also made to Flash 10 that may impact your work. See this link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer10_security_changes_print.html#hea d32
To check your current version go here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
I am using version 10.0.32.18. I have run many compatibility tests and haven't found problems with this version of Flash.
If version 10 is causing problems for you, uninstall by going here: http://kb.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
    Some better instructions I found:
    Uninstalling Adobe Flash player..
    0. Go to this page:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewCon ... d=tn_14157
and download the latest windows flash uninstaller. (uninstall_flash_player.exe).
    1. Close down all browsers.
    2. Go to control panel, and then to add/remove programs.
    3. Uninstall Adobe Flash ActiveX.
    4. Uninstall Adobe Flash Player.
    5. Close Add/Remove Programs and Control Panel.
    6. Open the Command box [Start/Run will bring up the command box] and change to the directory to where you
    downloaded the flash uninstaller.
    e.g: cd C:\Downloads\Software
    7. Type this in [command box]:
"uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean" (No quotes & notice the space between the .exe and /clean)
    and press enter.
    8. Click Yes.
    9. Click Close.
    10. Repeat steps 7-9 once. Close the Command window.
    11. Go to:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed
    and delete Flash directory.
    12. Go to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Adobe
and delete the "Flash Player" directory.
    13. Go to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Macromedia
and delete the "Flash Player" directory.
    14. Start MSIE and open this address:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
    15. Be sure to UNtick "Free Google Toolbar"
    and click Agree.
    16. Allow the ActiveX popup.
    17. Click Install.
    18. Close MSIE.
    19. Open either Firefox/SeaMonkey/Opera/etc and open this address:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
    20. Click Agree
    21. When the file finishes downloading close your browser.
    22. Navigate to where you saved the file and double click it:
    install_flash_player.exe
    23. Click Close.
    24. Open any browser and go to:

and drag the bar all the way to the right to Unlimited
    25. Close the browser.
    26. Flash should be working, if not, wait for the site to update to be compatible (or try using previous versions of flash player at your own risk).
