Adobe Captivate 6 and Shortcut Keys

I have designed a course in Adobe Captivate 6 and want to include a Shortcut key such as CTRL+O which the user hits to perform an action like they do in a production system they are being trained on for their job (non Adobe related).
When I set up a slidelet and the associated Action via a Shortcut to jump to a slide further down in the presentation this works in preview fine, but when I upload it to the LMS and test it there, it performs an Open function instead because this is being run in an Internet Brower.
Does anyone know of anyway for the Captivate CTRL+O to supercede the Internet Explorer CTRL+O?

Browser functions ALWAYS come before any functions of the content within the browser.
Trying to create course content that replicates keystroke shortcut behaviour of applications that use Function keys or Control keys is doomed to failure.
I would recommend you find another way to display the required keystrokes (e.g. buttons or images on screen) and get your users to click with their mouse to indicate the correct keys.

Trouble with the brush tool and shortcut keys on a Mac

If I select the brush tool and use it on an image, then go to use shortcut keys like to make the brush bigger, or smaller, to zoom in/out, or change the colour for the mask etc, it won't work. I need to select another tool then go back to the brush tool to make the shortcuts work again. After working for a bit again the shortcuts won't work. Has anyone got any idea on how to fix this?

Use Group Policy to disable user interface items and shortcut keys in IE

Hi,
We are creating a kiosk mode of IE with full restriction to the machines drives and other applications. For that we need to disable all the shortcuts keys like ctrl, shift, alt and combination of these keys. Can anyone help me on this. i want to done this
through GPO. Client machines are windows 7 and we are having windows server 2008 R2 (AD server).

I need to disable the ctrl, Alt, and shift keys and combinations of these keys with other keys as for example, cltrl+H, Ctrl+o, ets., and most important thing is, we need to apply it only through GPO not by using any other tools/ applications.
I'm not aware of any GPO-only methods to achieve your goal (hence my other suggestions), sorry.
Others might comment here with their thoughts/suggestions/experiences..

Adobe Captivate and DPS/InDesign - Simulations

Hi, we're working on an elearning/ebook product into which we want to include some practice simulations. (The ebooks are for training on specific software.)
I've successfully created the type of simulations we'd want to build (just a simple one for a test for now) where I record a short "training" in Captivate where it's recording mouse clicks with the popups to warn you if you click in the wrong place.
I want to include this simulation in InDesign for a DPS publication.
I have tried using the Wallaby beta application from the Labs to produce my FLA as HTML5. However, I get a few errors like this:
Unsupported feature: Dynamic Masks are not supported
Context stack:
Mask contains multiple framesets: FrameSet[0]: frames[0,0]
    Layer[0]: Bounding Box
      TimeLine[0]: Slide_7
        Slide_7
          Slides (Adobe Captivate)
            Symbol: Adobe Captivate Objects
And when I insert the HTML5 produced into InDesign, and run the Preview in Content Viewer, it runs automatically through the screen captures, with no user click input and without the popup tips or warnings I had in Captivate.
Am I doing it wrong, or is this not yet possible in DPS? Is there another way to do it if this way doesn't work?
(PS I literally started learning Captivate this afternoon, please go easy on me!)

While you are using Captivate, I'm going to have to say you are really asking in the wrong place. Certainly the question doesn't seem related to Captivate Quizzing features or working with a Learning Management System, so for starters you are in the wrong forum category. But that aside, I do hope you realize that the HTML 5 converter is BETA software. Being that as it is, I'm not sure you are allowed to actually use anything produced by it in a distributable product. Not to mention that because it's in BETA, that could also account for some of the issues you are facing. So from that standpoint, if there is a feedback or beta forum for the HTML 5 converter, you may want to ask there.
Otherwise, this would seem to fall squarely into the InDesign realm. You might try re-posting in the InDesign forums.

SetAsFuncitonKey() and shortcut keys

SetAsFuncitonKey() seemigly provides shortcut key functionality -- but this
proves not to be the case as once you register a key as a funciton key,
anytime you press that key, whichever widget has focus will post an
AfterValueChange event. This creates a lot of conflicts once you register
a bunch of function keys and do some validations on AfterValueChange.
Workarounds might include the ability to register key+modifier with
SetAsFunctionKey() or to have a reason attribute on the AfterValueChange
event -- but neither currently exist in Forte.
Does anybody have any workarounds so that using SeyAsFuncitonKey() does not
result in the extraneous AfterValueChange events?
If not, does anybody have any good workarounds for creating shortcut keys
-- without having to use the menu bar.

If you didn't install the chipset and graphics drivers for your model you won't be able to change the screen brightness or adjust the screen resolution.
First, install the amd chipset drivers and reboot.

Lightbox-style Menu in Adobe Captivate and HTML5

i have made Lightbox-style Menu in Adobe Captivate 7. When I preview my project HTML5 Output in Web Browser (F11) everything is ok. Then I publish my project and test it. Lightbox-style Menu not work any more. Can I fix it?

Adobe captivate and facebook

I did create my quizz in adobe captivate 7, everything was fine,
and I use to make difusión of my publications in FB, but the captivate publication can not be opened inthe Facebook browser,
I need your help. You must undertand that facebook, is know an important way to get to people icluding students.

Am I correct in understanding that you want to actually publish a Captivate to facebook? Is your goal for the end user to be able to view the Captivate via facebook?
Assuming so, the only way I can fathom that happening is if you created a simple video from Captivate and uploaded the Captivate video as a video in facebook. And that would have no interactivity. You would just watch it play.

The short cut keys on my adobe illustrator cs4 programme have stopped working. I am working on a Mac OSX 10.9.2 . Can anyone help? I have tried reinstalling but it hasn't helped. I recently installed a wacom device would this have anything to do with it?Adobe CS4

Did you use the full three step way?
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall?

Adobe Captivate and Virtual Desktop (citrix)

I have captivate 5 and I'm using it through a virtual desktop in citrix. The problem I have it when I try to start a recording, the application stops responding and closes without leaving any event. The captivate 5 it´s supported for citrix virtual desktop?

The answer is yes.
The question would be what hot-keys, etc. do you mean. I am aware only of Ctrl + Shift + F5, but I think there are few more. Alternatively, a component could add something - this could be dependent on the author of the component.

Captivate and Canvas LMS by Instructure

Does anyone know if there is any info or procedures for connecting Captivate to Canvas LMS by Instructure?
Can it be done using LTI?

"You will most likely have to build your own app (middleware) that can bridge the communication gap between Adobe Captivate and LTI. What is your programming language of preference? We do a lot of ruby at Instructure, so we have a lot of example ruby apps on github, if you wanted to use one of them as a place to start."

Adobe Captivate 8 serial number message preventing me from using right product

I wanted to download Adobe Captivate and accidentally purchased the Captivate 8 Upgrade.
I discovered my error when I was prompted to "upgrade" a qualifying product that I did not own.
I then downloaded the trial version, in order to demonstrate the value of the commitment (show my employer what the program could do) but the prompt to select a qualifying product keeps preventing me from accessing the trial version.
I have spoken with tech support and the cancellation of the original purchase is supposed to have begun/completed.
Now I can not launch the trial or full version as it continues to auto detect the upgrade verification code and states it can not find a product to upgrade.

Read color/shortcut keys for Actions in Actions Palette?

Is it possible to use Javascript to read the color and shortcut key assigned to an action using Javascript?
I'm looping through and building a list of actionsets/actions into an XML file and would like to include the color and shortcut as well.

Thanks to a response I received on another forum, it appears that this info is not available from the action descriptor and the only way to get at it is to write your action palette out to the file system as a temporary file, read and process this binary file, and then delete the temporary file you had written.

I am looking for some assistance, best practices, ideas and support on how to create Asynchronous Webinars (eLearning) using Adobe Captivate and would love anyone's assistance!

Captivate could be used to provide recordings of webinars, but isn't a platform for providing actual webinars...
So if you gave a webinar using applicable tools, like Connect or WebEx or such...and recorded that webinar...you could place the video recording in Captivate and add a variety of components (slides, bullets, effects, interactions, etc)...though Adobe Presenter may be better suited as I believe its sold as more a Connect companion...
What are you trying to achieve? Do you have an actual webinar platform already?
