Hi Vikram,
I am using a Mac. Everything was developed in Captivate 7 (we upgraded specifically due to the need for all quiz types to be exported to html5). I have 30 pre-existing projects and the problem exists on all of them.
I started a separate discussion about my problem. You can search for "Major problem with Quiz Screens after loading Captivate 7.0.1 patch" and it should pop up. I have been working with a couple other Adobe Staff on this and have provided a file.
While they were able to fix the initial problem, several others arose. This was caused in part by the fact that I have and advanced action which affects the quiz results screen and now it no longer works on the html5 version. I have not yet explored the possible problems with drag and drop quiz questions and expect there will be some because those questions are problematic anyway.
Everything worked on our LMS and locally (swf, and html5 on desktop systems) BEFORE I installed the patch, and the main reason I installed it was to fix the problem on the iPAD and other tablets. Now the initial problem shown in this discussion works, but other things are broken. I have 30 projects with this problem and they are all due next week.
I would like to uninstall the patch for now and worry about it when everything has been delivered.

Adobe Captivate 4 errors out on recording

Hi,
I am a long time user of Captivate and have been using Captivate 4 since it came out. I am running a Dell Precision Workstation M6400 with 3GB RAM, Windows XP Pro with SP 3, Intel 2.6 gHz processor. I also have the latest patches for Windows and Captivate installed.
I am a heavy user of Captivate. In fact a day does not go by that I am not using it. I have been working on a project for a client. I was able to shoot about 45 slides, edit the text captions, and added some audio. I saved the project, closed it, and exited Captivate. When I came back from lunch, I started Captivate, opened the project, entered Edit mode, selected the last slide (45) in my project and hit the record button to capture some additional slides. I captured about 10 more slides and ended the recording process.
I got the progress window saying the slides were importing and then I get the old "Captivate has experienced an error and will now close" error.
I have recreated the preferences, uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate 4 - 3 times, applied the lastest Captivate patch 3 times, repaired the registry table, and did all the system disk utilities I have. I have a very fast and clean running laptop, but Captivate 4 still generates the same error. I can no longer record either for an existing project or a new one. The error always occurs after a recording session, regardless of the recording type. During the importing of slides, it bombs out.
All my projects are in Captivate 4, so I can't even go back to an earlier version. Anyone else having a similar problem. My projects are gonna go overdue if I can't get this fixed. Any help from anyone would be awesome. I am willing to try anything at this point. I am attaching the detailed error report that it sends to Microsoft.

Adobe Captivate 6.0 Help

We have been using Adobe Captivate 6 and here the problem is we are not able to open Adobe Help even after installing the updated patch and even after launching the Adobe Captivate with Administrator privileges. Can anyone help us with this?

How to get a quiz developed with a timer in Adobe captivate 8

I want to develop a quiz with 10 questions. So those who answer max correct answers with less time should be announced as winner
Current version 8 doesn’t show the option to publish file into exe.
Also I have few issues with the current package I prepared.
Not sure how to get the timer
enabled in the package.
Need to add logo on all slides
3. How to add hyperlink
for Adobe Registration.

Well, first, I believe if you update CP8 to the latest version:
Adobe Captivate Help | Adobe Captivate 8 patch
Then the .exe option is restored to Captivate.
But that probably won't help your other request.
For Captivate itself to know if someone's score is best, it has to know what all the other users' scores are.
How will it find that out? (especially as an .exe which is going to likely have even a harder time getting info from the web)
The best way to do what you want is to use an LMS with that 'leaderboard' feature (i.e ExpertusOne)...so it can evaluate everyone's recorded scores and show the best.
And even that would probably need a hack as I *assume* it basis 'best' on the score, not on the time.
So even if you could do a timer in Captivate, it has no way of knowing other users' scores nor a way to evaluate which is 'best' even if it did.
(you might be able to work that all in with extensive JS hacking?)
Fortunately, the logo is pretty easy - put the logo image on the master slide(s) you use in the piece.
What sort of Adobe Registration do you mean?

Adobe captivate 7 mixed hebrew and english text displayed wrong

hello all,
when I create captions with mixed Hebrew and English characters or numbers, the caption is displayed all mixed up.
Is there a fix for this issue ?
If not, is there a simple workaround?

There is an issue with text in case of multi-hierarchal bullets but apart from that other things should work fine. You might just have to change some position parameters to fix the results. Adobe Captivate 6 - Version 6.0.1.240

I have many courses buill in captivate, since the update to version 6.0.1.240 when i load into a course all of the text from the courses does not appear.
Now the strange thing is that when i click on the text/rollover/questions the text reappears, i tried to save the docuement after making the text appear and it goes again next time i load?
Has anyone had a similar experience?

Anytime you update Captivate, even if it's just to install a bugfix or patch, you should always kill the Preferences folder.

Adobe Captivate 8.1 quiz displays too small in Google Chrome 39

Hi,
Lately, quizzes published from Adobe Captivate 8.1 in Google Chrome 39 are displaying in a very small area. I am using the same settings that I usually do (Scalable HTML content) and all works fine in Internet Explorer 11.09. Possible that it's down to a recent update within Chrome.
Any workarounds or patches known for this?

I am having the same issue with Captivate 7.0.1.237 and Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 (64-bit) when I upload a SCORM 2.1 file to Moodle 2.6.
It works fine on Firefox and Safari.

Does upating to Mavericks effect Adobe Captivate?

Does upating to Mavericks effect Adobe Captivate? I have Adobe Captivate 6. When I try to launch the app, I get a pop up that says "Adobe Captivate !" and it will not launch.

No audio in Adobe Captivate 4

I am not able to record audio with the headset that i have. I am able to have the microphone appear under recording devices and the mic level goes up and down. When i Try to record the audio for slides. I get nothing. I have been all over forums and i have been unsuccessful. Any tips on how to make this work?

In addition to above suggestions, please apply the patch for Cp 4 if not applied already.

For audio specifically, you need to update your DLL , download the New DLL from --

Note : - DLL NSAUDIO needs to registered Manually to get applied on machine. To register this DLL –
Close Captivate
Run 'command prompt (cmd)' in Admin mode
Go to the directory where Captivate-4 is installed (C>Program File>Adobe>Adobe Captivate 4” and Enter)
Run 'regsvr32 NSAudio.dll'

Captivate Patch does not work

Hello,
I got a problem. I have try to install the patch for Captivate 4 . That cannot be done. Is it because I got the German version ? Is the patch only for the us/uk version?
The warning shows "Captivate 4 is not insalled" - this is not true?!

Please recreate the preferences of Captivate, following is the location of Captivate Preferences:
Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData (hidden folder)\Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5 folder
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5 folder
Mac: /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Captivate 5 folder
rename Captivate 5 to Captivate 5_old
and then try to launch Captivate 5

Retrieving & displaying values from a slide in Adobe Captivate 5.5

Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 5.5.
1.In a slide I assign a variable with "active" or "disabled" when user clicks Active button or Disabled button in that slide. This I do with Javascript.
2.In the next slide I am able to retrieve the resultant (active/disabled). And I want this result to be displayed on a button as a label or display in a Test Caption. Is it possible to do. If so how?

I am able to save the text in a java script variable and show the same in an alert (as you observed) but not clear/sure how to assign or save it to a user defined variable in Captivate. Kindly suggest how to first create this user defined variable and how to displays the contents in Captivate.

is there any other way to get Adobe Captivate specific help? I've posted a question twice with no help, it's very specific, so no one here might actually know the solution. I'm wondering though, since the chat is obviously not for Captivate users with product or service questions.
Is there a tech team I can somehow contact? We really need an answer to the problem.

P.S. I'll post the problem again here:
We publish mp4 training videos as HTML5 content and have the problem that we need to restrict the player to only play/pause.
Adobe Captivate 7 works fantastic for us on almost all devices, many Androids, many browsers, and even on iPad. Captivate, after adding the video as a multi-slide video to one slide and publishing it as HTML5 content, only lets the student play and pause the video - just what we need.
But then we test it on iPhone and the iPhone's internal quicktime player recognizes the mp4 video and kicks in, gives the student all the functions they want, totally overrides the HTML5 published Captivate restricted playback options.
Is there ANY way we can get around that? Any function or box we haven't checked before publishing the HTML5 content?
We would even be happy, if the video wouldn't play on iPhone - just as long as they can't use it to fast forward to the end of the video.
Does anyone here know how to bypass the internal iPhone 5 player?

By the way, I have updated to the newest Captivate 7 version and am using iOS version 7.0.4.
Again, it's fine on iPad, but not on iPhone 5.
