Adobe Captivate 7 unsupports Adobe Captivate 8?!

Hi all, I have a problem with Adobe Captivate 7: I have to work on a project (video) created by Adobe Captivate 8, but I can't open this file...what's the matter? Projects created by Captivate 8 are unsupported by Captivate 7?!
The view I see is this:
Thank you so much!

Adobe products have never worked like Microsoft products. There is generally no way to open and work on a project once a newer version of the software creates or touches it.
Cheers... Rick

  • Adobe Captivate and DPS/InDesign - Simulations

Hi, we're working on an elearning/ebook product into which we want to include some practice simulations. (The ebooks are for training on specific software.)
I've successfully created the type of simulations we'd want to build (just a simple one for a test for now) where I record a short "training" in Captivate where it's recording mouse clicks with the popups to warn you if you click in the wrong place.
I want to include this simulation in InDesign for a DPS publication.
I have tried using the Wallaby beta application from the Labs to produce my FLA as HTML5. However, I get a few errors like this:
Unsupported feature: Dynamic Masks are not supported
    Context stack:
Mask contains multiple framesets: FrameSet[0]: frames[0,0]
        Layer[0]: Bounding Box
          TimeLine[0]: Slide_7
            Slide_7
              Slides (Adobe Captivate)
                Symbol: Adobe Captivate Objects
And when I insert the HTML5 produced into InDesign, and run the Preview in Content Viewer, it runs automatically through the screen captures, with no user click input and without the popup tips or warnings I had in Captivate.
Am I doing it wrong, or is this not yet possible in DPS? Is there another way to do it if this way doesn't work?
(PS I literally started learning Captivate this afternoon, please go easy on me!)

    Hi there
While you are using Captivate, I'm going to have to say you are really asking in the wrong place. Certainly the question doesn't seem related to Captivate Quizzing features or working with a Learning Management System, so for starters you are in the wrong forum category. But that aside, I do hope you realize that the HTML 5 converter is BETA software. Being that as it is, I'm not sure you are allowed to actually use anything produced by it in a distributable product. Not to mention that because it's in BETA, that could also account for some of the issues you are facing. So from that standpoint, if there is a feedback or beta forum for the HTML 5 converter, you may want to ask there.
Otherwise, this would seem to fall squarely into the InDesign realm. You might try re-posting in the InDesign forums.
Best of luck to you in sorting it... Rick

Please help - I am getting an error when I try to upload a course. What I am getting is this when I load it in SCORM
Warning - LoadMetadata (Manifest): LoadTechnical: Unsupported childNode found in Technical Metadata: pkgprop: ScormEnginePackageProperties

    Hi Ryan,
Make sure that Captivate's complete version should be 6.0.1.240 or 6.1.0.319. (Help > about Adobe Captivate).
On which LMS are you uploading your Scorm Compliant Course?
Have you published as SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004?
    Thanks.

  • Retrieving & displaying values from a slide in Adobe Captivate 5.5

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 5.5.
1.In a slide I assign a variable with "active" or "disabled" when user clicks Active button or Disabled button in that slide. This I do with Javascript.
2.In the next slide I am able to retrieve the resultant (active/disabled). And I want this result to be displayed on a button as a label or display in a Test Caption. Is it possible to do. If so how?
    Please suggest.
    With thank and regards
    Krishna

I am able to save the text in a java script variable and show the same in an alert (as you observed) but not clear/sure how to assign or save it to a user defined variable in Captivate. Kindly suggest how to first create this user defined variable  and how to displays the contents in Captivate.

  • I am having major issues importing Animated gif's into Adobe Captivate

    Hi everyone
Captivate 7 (64 bit) keeps crashing when i import animate gifs into flash.
It's a serious workflow issue for us as the project requires animated gifs.
I don't have any files to supply for this query as i can't even import gif's into a blank doc.
Has any one found a solution for this issue ?
Adobe ??  Have you got a fix for this bug ?
    Thanks in advance
    Nick

How were the GIF's created? Which version of 7 do you use, you can see the complete version number under Help, About Captivate.
I have been using animated GIF's in 7, they were created with Photoshop. And I know that each frame in the animation has to have a duration that is not 0secs.

  • Is there any other way to get Adobe Captivate help?

    Hi guys,
is there any other way to get Adobe Captivate specific help? I've posted a question twice with no help, it's very specific, so no one here might actually know the solution. I'm wondering though, since the chat is obviously not for Captivate users with product or service questions.
Is there a tech team I can somehow contact? We really need an answer to the problem.
    Thanks,
    Nat
P.S. I'll post the problem again here:
We publish mp4 training videos as HTML5 content and have the problem that we need to restrict the player to only play/pause.
Adobe Captivate 7 works fantastic for us on almost all devices, many Androids, many browsers, and even on iPad. Captivate, after adding the video as a multi-slide video to one slide and publishing it as HTML5 content, only lets the student play and pause the video - just what we need.
But then we test it on iPhone and the iPhone's internal quicktime player recognizes the mp4 video and kicks in, gives the student all the functions they want, totally overrides the HTML5 published Captivate restricted playback options.
Is there ANY way we can get around that? Any function or box we haven't checked before publishing the HTML5 content?
We would even be happy, if the video wouldn't play on iPhone - just as long as they can't use it to fast forward to the end of the video.
Does anyone here know how to bypass the internal iPhone 5 player?
    Thanks,
    Nat

By the way, I have updated to the newest Captivate 7 version and am using iOS version 7.0.4.
Again, it's fine on iPad, but not on iPhone 5.

    Hi Leith,
From what I know, such functionality is currently not available.

  • Suddenly unable to upload from Captivate 7 to Adobe Connect

I work on PC with Captivate 7 on a monthly subscription taken out by our NZ company. We use Captivate 7 in our New Caledonian Office. We are still on Windows XP o/s. We had no problem with Captivate until a few weeks ago (possibly coinciding with the launch of Captivate 8) and since we can no longer upload our Captivate work to Connect Pro.
I have spoken to our ISP here who think that they have not been advised by Adobe of changes in the connection to the Adobe servers.
It may be co-incidence but we can no longer print Adobe PDF documents either.

There was no error message.....it just did "nothing".  It wasn't sitting in the printer queue either.  I tried it on more than one printer that I'm connected to.  I actually ended up deleting Adobe Reader XI and installing Reader X, and now I can print.  But according to the system requirements of Reader XI, I should have been able to use it with XP......

  • Adobe Captivate 4 "Blue Screen" on editing "Preferences"

    Hi there,
I am using a professional license for Adobe Captivate 4, from work. So it's not a personal copy and I cannot just do a clean install without difficulty.
Anyway, I was using the system fine, and taking an online training about the tool, and half way through my application will now "blue screen of death" when ever I click on "preferences" for even a blank, brand new project.
I've searched through the forum, this site and googled for it, and the only solutions I can find are to update drivers (which I've done with the help of IT support), update firmware etc which is already up to date, and lastly - to delete the captivate folder, reboot and start again.
None of these have worked. Has anyone else ever had an issue like this?
Do I need a clean install? (this would be a pain as I cannot directly install it myself).
    Thanks!

Try deleting the Captivate preferences file - captivate_v40.dat - found at ..\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Captivate. This would probably solve your problem.
(in Win XP go to Start - Run and then type %APPDATA% to open up the correct directory. In Vista / Win7 type %APPDATA% in Start - Search)

  • How do I download adobe captivate videos from the internet?

    Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to download a video from the internet that was made with adobe captivate 2.
I've tried using videolan and some other downloaders but they don't seem to be working.
I may be going about it wrong, does anyone have suggestions?
I'd like to have them downloaded and saved to my computer so I don't have to access the internet.
    Thank you!

Thank you for your help, your suggestion worked for the video! But, I found it doesn't work with all the videos on the site.
For example, the download icon will not light for this video here: http://www.volume11.com/ddsgn150/weblessons/weekone/WeekOne_1b.htm
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Captivate 5 published as pdf not displaying in certain versions of Adobe Acrobat and Reader

We have an issue where upon publishing files as a pdf in Adobe Captivate 5, they will not open in Adobe Acrobat Pro (9 or 10) or Adobe Reader (11).  However, they will open in Adobe Reader 10.1.4.  I have searched up and down these forums and google, without any solid resolution for this issue.  We are running Windows 7 64-bit machines.  It should be noted, that if we publish as a exe, it works without any issues.  See below for other threads with same issue (but no resolution), and a screenshot.  Thanks!

Try this. Though the solution is for CP6, it might still work for you.
