Adobe Captivate Exception Error After Recording

I am using Adobe Captivate 4 to record tutorials from a website (the tutorials are showing how to use a website) and keep getting the following message after completing a recording:
"The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000409) occurred in the application at location 0x02d13782" then the program terminates completely.  The file allows you to record but after you click on the file in the taskbar to import the recording it errors out then closes.  
The tutorials are being recorded on a website using a Dell machine that exceeds the hardware requirements, has Windows XP SP3 with recent updates, and IE7 with recent updates.  The files are HUGE in size so I am wondering if that might be the problem.  One tutorial (.cp file) might be anywhere from 20MB up.  I have all of the audio and recording settings set to low so my question is how are these files growing so large in size, and is that the reason I keep getting the exception error?  Thanks in advance!

I too am getting this error on a couple of my Captivate (4) files.  It occurs if I try to insert (eg click box) or import (eg Powerpoint files).
Files aren't particularly big - about 2 MB - and are one of many similar files in a project so can't understand why this is occurring - but is frustrating as I can't do anything with the file any longer - even if I try to open past versions I get the same error if I try to insert/import
Would appreciate any comments on why this may be occurring.

    Which version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat are they using?  Adobe Reader XI
    Can you publish this locally on your system (not to network drive directly), check force republish option also, and are you able to view it on your end?  I can pull up the file from my computer that is saved in the same drive that the agents are attempting to pull up.  But, I am not sure if it is viewing for me because I have it on my system.

  • Adobe Captivate 4 errors out on recording

    Hi,
    I am a long time user of Captivate and have been using Captivate 4 since it came out.  I am running a Dell Precision Workstation M6400 with 3GB RAM, Windows XP Pro with SP 3, Intel 2.6 gHz processor.  I also have the latest patches for Windows and Captivate installed.
    I am a heavy user of Captivate.  In fact a day does not go by that I am not using it.  I have been working on a project for a client.  I was able to shoot about 45 slides, edit the text captions, and added some audio.  I saved the project, closed it, and exited Captivate.  When I came back from lunch, I started Captivate, opened the project, entered Edit mode, selected the last slide (45) in my project and hit the record button to capture some additional slides.  I captured about 10 more slides and ended the recording process.
    I got the progress window saying the slides were importing and then I get the old "Captivate has experienced an error and will now close" error.
    I have recreated the preferences, uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate 4 - 3 times, applied the lastest Captivate patch 3 times, repaired the registry table, and did all the system disk utilities I have.  I have a very fast and clean running laptop, but Captivate 4 still generates the same error.  I can no longer record either for an existing project or a new one.  The error always occurs after a recording session, regardless of the recording type.  During the importing of slides, it bombs out.
    All my projects are in Captivate 4, so I can't even go back to an earlier version.  Anyone else having a similar problem.  My projects are gonna go overdue  if I can't get this fixed.  Any help from anyone would be awesome.  I am willing to try anything at this point.  I am attaching the detailed error report that it sends to Microsoft.

  • Adobe Captivate5.5 error while recording screens

    Hi
    I have installed in Adobe Captivate5.5.
    I am using first time after installation. I selected blank project and start recording screens. When I pressed End key to stop recording I got an error message saying "A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folders as ".backup" files. Please restart Adobe Captivate".  If I clieked on OK button then Adobe Captivate application is closing.
    Please suggest me on this.

    This is the first time installation.  And no older versions installed before.
    This error is coming when I stop the the recording screens.

  • Fatal exception errors after IE7 upgrade

    After accepting the MS Auto update of IE6 to IE7 I had "Fatal
    exception error - DW is terminating" even when clicking on Help.
    Errors included "Browse_back enabled in toolbars.xml" and "get
    CurrentValue in AddressURL.htm" when trying to switch between
    loaded pages.
    I tried re-installing Dreamweaver MX but the problems didn't
    disappear until I used the Uninstall IE V7 option in Windows
    Add/Remove programs (not the one in Windows Components) - which
    removes V7 and rolls back to V6.
    Having wasted some hours and had severe stress and finding no
    solutions on the MS website, Adobe support or with Google - I
    thought I would share my experience to help others with the same
    problem.

    I am aware that there is a hotfix available but that is more on the Receive Side from SAP. Nevertheless I installed the hotfix but issue still persists. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

  • Adobe Captivate 4 Unexpectedly Stops Recording

    Recently, Adobe Captivate 4, for no reason that I can determine, stops recording in the middle of a project. I am attempting to do a demo in Microsoft Word. As soon as I click the  Microsoft Office Button, Captivate stops recording, and a dialog box appears prompting me to save the project. Once I click OK, I am returned to Captivate with only one slide being generated. No matter what I try, I can't get past this point. This has never happened before. I don't understand what's going on. Can anyone help me?

    I had a similar problem with CP4 a couple of years ago, and as I recall it was resolved by a software update - try updating to a more recent release.

    I just downloaded the Adobe Captivate trial (Mac) and it only worked once. I'm pretty sure I have never installed this before on my Mac. Is there a known problem and fix for this?

    Steverb2 if your trial is showing as expired then I would recommend evaluating the software on a different computer.  Please see Adobe trial software expired early - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 for possible reasons your trial may have expired early.  There is no method available to extend an expired trial.

  • Adobe captivate scheduling parameters for recording via a program schedular

    Hi, I have 3 PC's running slide shows in 3 lecture rooms. I need to schedule the PCs to run Captivate 4, start and stop recordings and save the recorded file. Hopefully without me having to touch them untill the end of the day.
    I have a sheduling program that is capable of the load required and the ability to add the paramaters to do the functions I would like done eg. start and stop recordings and save the recorded file.
    I cant find anywhere the parameters required to do this or an example of someone else having done so.
    Any help would be extemely appreciated.

  • Captivate 4 crashes after recording, while trying to import

    I have encountered a problem with Captivate 4 when recording new slides into a project.  It will record the slides I want, however, when it is in the process of importing into the project, I get a message stating, an error has occurred and would need to shut down.  I have tried the following ways to find the problem, but still haven't found a solution.  1)  I created a new blank project and copied all the slides into that project.  That worked a while, then the problem reappeared. 2) I tried creating smaller files and then importing them into the larger file, this didn't work.  3)  I have just completely reinstalled all the software on my system, including my windows XP OS, and still the problem exist.
    I have a Dell Latitude E6500 with 2.72GB available physical memory, 1.96GB Available virtual memory. X86-based PCprocessor is x86 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10 GenuineINtel 2659 MHz.  I also have the creative suite in my system.
    I would appreciate any help with this problem, I am working on a project and have already been delayed a month, trying to fix the problem.

    The "corruption" of the entire .cp file seems to occur when we click record, get
    our screen captures, end the recording and then it gets stuck on the Importing dialog box and the error below appears.
    Going forward, regardless of what we try to record, the error occurs. Trying to insert a slide or copy/paste a slide causes the error to appear as well.
    I have gotten around the error by using a screen capture program, strating a new project, pasting the image into captivate, and then merging the image into the background. This avoids me from having to go through the recording process. I just finished a 80 slide project this way and while it was a little more time, it got done without any probelms.
    I have a file I can send you, I blanked out all the slides to remove any private information and tested it with the error still occuring. How can I send you the file?

    In recording select Views using PgDn button, You should not use mouse by scrolling it.
    I think this will resolve your Problem, still need help plz do message me.

    My Windows 8 automatically updated today and since then my Adobe Photoshop CC had been crashing. Everytime I try to edit a new work, the project flickers to black making it difficult to edit layers. When I choose to transform the layer, that is when Photoschop stops working. It only started happening today and the same thing occurs. I can create a text, or paste a layer or add effects but when I have to transform a layer, it now crashes.
    What and how do I get the details of the problem?

    If you are recording Video Demostration in Captivate 7 then you can only publish it in .mp4 format later you may use any tool to convert it to .avi format.

  • Captivate 4 crashes when recording

    Captivate 4 crashes when recording additional slides - this happens when you press 'End' to stop recording and the files are being imported into Captivate. You then have to restart Captivate, open the project, close it again in an orderly fashion and re-open Captivate again before you can 'attempt' to record anything else or you receive the following message: "Another session of Adobe Captivate is currently recording.  Please close the other session of Adobe Captivate before trying to record."
    Having searched the forum regarding this problem and found that many people have had the same issue - I have tried many of the things suggested but have not yet come across a method for fixing this issue once it occurs.
    This does not happen to all projects - it seems to be random, although I have now re-started this particular project 4 times and it keeps occuring ...
    Does anyone know of the cause, a fix or even if Adobe is looking into this issue?

    I believe I have now found the cause of this problem!
    I got a new disk (same computer) and installed Windows7 and Captivate4 - this eliminated the problem I was having with using variables in any project but not the problem with Captivate crashing when re-recording slides.
    I narrowed the problem to the project template - projects that I create without the project template or with a template supplied by Adobe are fine and projects created based on the template I created are not.
    I have now re-created my project template - slide by slide - checking after adding each new slide that the problem had not returned.
    All in all it has been a very frustrating exercise as the error messages displayed are more or less useless.
    One thing I did notice is the size of the template file - after having created an identical project template the new template is approximately a quarter of the size of the corrupt template. Even after adding a blank slide and deleting all other slides from my original project template file - the size of the file is still 3,599 KB in comparison to a new project template with the same blank screen which is 171 KB.
    Anyway hope this is helpful.
