Adobe Captivate - Resume Data Bookmarking feature

Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 5.5. The OS is Windows 7.
I have created a module recording the details of the screen actions to be done. I have used TOC feature. If a user exits the simulation midway and comes back it shows the "Continue from where you stopped last time?" message in a confirmation dialog box. Currently the title of this dialog box is "Adobe Captivate". I would like to know is it possible to change this title? If yes how? Kindly help.
with thanks and regards,
Krishna

Hi,
Thanks.
By the way I would like to know in the Aggregator project, is it possible to access the TOC settings. When the aggregator project output is run, the status flag in TOC for all chapters are shown selected. Where as in the self-paced learning the status "tick" mark appears only after each chapter is completed. Is there any way to tinker the settings of TOC in aggregator project. if so how to do it? Please help!

  • Captivate Resume Course - not at last slide

    Hi
When a user exits our course in captivate and then resumes at a later time it asks if they want to continue where the left off however it always begins again at the start of the chapter in which they were in.  For example, if they were on slide 5 of chapter 4 it would start them again at slide 1 of chapter 4.
Is this a setting that I need to change?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums,
Captivate should do this by default, unless you check the 'Never Send Resume Data' option chceked in the Quiz preferences section.
However, if it does not, that is likely because your LMS is expecting the lesson to set the cmi.exit value to 'suspend'. Such a setting tells the LMS to send the last-session's data back to the CP lesson the next time it's launched so it can resume.
You can also Go to Project > Skin Editor and tick the box there for Self-Paced Learning.
That will enable local bookmarking that should work if the user is just playing the course modules from a local drive.  However, be aware that this setting may conflict with the Resume Data bookmarking that is sometimes activated (by leaving the Never Send Resume Data checkbox unticked) so as to use bookmarking with SCORM-compliant courses served from an LMS.

  • Don't want TOC to show when using Bookmark feature

I want to use the bookmark feature on a quiz but the TOC shows on the screen.  How do you take it off?

If you are NOT using an LMS then you can turn on Self Paced Learning in the TOC settings.
If you ARE using an LMS, then Self Paced Learning is disabled and you need to rely on Resume Data Bookmarking which is on by default whenever you report to an LMS (unless you have Never Send Resume Data checked in your LMS Customization Settings in Captivate).

  • Adobe Captivate 3 Crashing

    Hello Everyone,
we have Adobe Captivate 3.0.0.630 that has been installed on
a Windows XP SP2 machine for about a month. We have this PC as well
as all others locked down so that a normal user cannot install or
remove any software or do much to the system that might cause it to
fail unless they have admin rights. During the first two weeks or
so of the installation it had been running fine. We installed it as
an admin user and then the real user was able to run the
application using his own profile. Now however, the application
will not load. It crashes during the Splash Screen at the point
where it is copying first run data. To allow it to run you must use
the RunAs feature, this is fine but we then run into another
problem where Captivate will only record one slide of 3 seconds no
matter how long you leave the recording running.
I have tried many things from this forum in an attempt to
rectify the problem, but all has failed.
    Hopefully someone can help.
Please let me know if you need more information.

    Hey everybody,
One of my users is experiencing the same exact issues that
Robert described below. We have the latest version of Captivate
installed (v3.0.1 build 589) and it *used* to open under their
profile just fine but now it crashes at "Copying First Run
    Files...". I don't think it's a permissions issue as this user's
account has *always* been in the local administrators group. If I
login as any other user, my domain admin account or an account that
never logged in on the machine before, I can get Captivate to open
without a problem. If I'm logged in as the user who's having the
problem and use the "Run As..." option I can get it to open but as
Robert said it only records for 3 seconds or so.
I've tried the following to no avail:
    1) Completely removing / reinstalling Captivate 3
    2) Delete user profile and re-create a new one
    3) Delete adobe captivate preferences file (C:\Documents and
    Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate\captivate_v30.dat)
I'm personally stumped and would love some feedback from
    Adobe Support on this one.
    Additional info:
    OS: Windows XP SP3
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.20GHz
    Memory: 3GB
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Adobe captivate 8.0 quiz reporting

In Adobe captivate 4, there was email reporting. In Adobe captivate 8, Is this feature still available ? How do I do the quiz reporting without any external app or LMS ? How can I have my results e-mailed or stored in the database ?

I have found the JavaScript API for this..
It can be done by the following,
       var cp = document.Captivate;
       var totalPoints = cp.cpEIGetValue('m_VarHandle.cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints');
       var pointsScored = cp.cpEIGetValue('m_VarHandle.cpQuizInfoPointsscored');

  • Captivate 4: Never Send Resume Data feature

I'm new to Captivate 4 and LMS. Want to make sure I understand the use of the LMS Customization Setting - Never Send Resume Data. Should that be deselected or selected in order for the user to be able to "bookmark" or return to the page where they left off? Thank you!!!

    Hello,
This depends on the LMS, I think, anyway ours offers this opportunity.

  • Captivate 4 - Bookmark feature for LMS

I have completed all development of a course, but have just learned that a bookmark feature is required by the LMS. There must be a way for a User to begin the course then stop, and later be brought back to the same place.
Is there a setting in Captivate where I can enable this feature?

Does your CP-movie have quiz slides and if so, do you report to the LMS? Then you have to activate Resume Data, which is normally the standard option in the LMS Customization Setting (Quiz Preferences, Settings).
When I'm not using the SCORM-functionality (reporting scores), I use the TOC-feature and activate the option 'Self-paced Learning' in the Settings, Runtime Options of the TOC, to have the bookmarking function. I'm certain there are other ways, perhaps someone else will give you another solution. If you do not want to lose any space on your screen you can put the TOC in overlay mode.

I doubt you'll get an answer in a user forum, sorry. This forum is meant for users to help other users when they have problems that have to be solved. You should contact Adobe itself.

  • Adobe captivate data not sending at the end of webinar. Is the adobe server still down?

Adobe captivate data not sending at the end of webinar. Reads "unknown error." Is the adobe server still down? This has been ongoing all of july 2014.

So the engineer came and, of course, everything was working ok. He did fit some kind of RF filter on my main socket, and 'changed the pair' on one of the outside cables. Since then, I've only had a noisy line once, and seem to have been connected for 3 days solid, which is a record!
I've switched back to my BT Home hub 3, which guavas me more stats. The line has previously given me up to 6mb/s, now only getting 1.6.
Do you think, now the line seems more stable, with the stats below I should be able to maintain a higher speed now?

  • Adobe Captivate 6 - Interactive Widgets and Resume Playing Timeline?!

Hello! I am using Adobe Captivate 6 to work on several training projects and the slides where I have inserted interactive widgets (such as accordion theme), along with the normal text to speech and timed text boxes, when I go to publish in either html or swf those particular slides pause the whole presentation/training. Unlike the other slides that continue/play the timeline when entered these particular slides (with interactive widgets) do not do the same and pause the presentation (you have to press the play button on the menu bar to continue with narrative and I'm trying to have it play automatically). Does anyone know how I may go about having these particular slides not pause the presentation and continue playing the timeline. I've exhausted all measures and need help. Thank you.

In Captivate 6, all learning interactions (accordions is not an interactive
widget at all) were pausing the slide at the first frame, sorry. That has
changed later. In 7 and present version, most learning interactions do not pause at all (with the exception of some games), you have to pause yourself to allow time for the interaction.
Have some workarounds, but none for what you want. Keep the interactions on a separate slide is the only recommendation I can offer.
As for my first remark about Accordions not being an interactive widget, last night I tried to explain some concepts of the interactions to another user in this thread: Tracking Learning Interactions

  • Adobe Captivate 5.5 how to send data to parent

    Hi,
I hope everyone is doing good.
I am very new to Adobe Captivate.
I need to be able put the Captivate SWF inside of a parent SWF (Flash using AS3) and have the captivate file pass a variable to the parent SWF when the last slide of the captivate SWF is reached.
I do not know how to do that, any help appreciated.

  • Adobe Captivate is starting up without features (Sometimes)

About every other time Adobe Captivate starts up without the Filmstrip, Timeline, etc windows. It shows A black background instead. Also when the back background shows up I cannot use the "X" at the top left to close it. Everything else works though when the black background shows up. Please give any tips you can, thanks!

You might also be running into issues where your Project Cache is getting too full.

  • Completion Data and Resume Data

Again, it seems there is yet another Completion Data and Resume Data question... sorry.
My issue is that completion data isn't always being sent from my SCORM material to my LMS. I know there is a setting to set the completion data at X percent, but even then I would like to have something a bit more trusting on it. Is there a way (and I'm no developer/program/IT guy so please help in detail) to make so that on X slide that completion data is forced to be sent?
This also plays into my next question: is there a way to force resume data on every page, every load? The bookmark feature is nice thank you Adobe staff for adding that, but its reliability for what my company is using is questionable at best. If there is no progress made within the lesson the resume data after having used it once isn't sent again - I need this to be sent on every slide upon entering or even better at a preset time on the slide, and always be sent regardless of number of accesses. Is this possible? It would solve a whole host of problems one being that we need to have the test scores entered into our LMS after a successful completion, and then have the slide fade out so the user cannot re-access, redo, copy, etc the quizzes.
    Thank you for the help,
    -Joseph

I can't really help you with most of your questions, but I can confirm that a slide needs to be viewed 100% from start to end of the timeline before Captivate treats it as "read/viewed". It's the same problem when you are using the TOC - it will not get the check mark until the slide has played from A-Z, which is really annoying.

  • Bookmark feature in CP4 TOC

Okay, so I know the bookmarking question has been done to death and as I understand it Captivate doesn't support any kind of bookmarking. What it does do however (if it's linked with an LMS) is resume where a user drops off. That, imho, isn't bookmarking as much as it is a resume feature. (and most of the people who have co-opted the word 'bookmarking' are actually looking for this resume feature)
Now if Captivate doesn't support bookmarking of any kind then why is there a 'bookmark' feature in the TOC?  The default TOC in Captivate 4 has a little star that claims to bookmark - but in all my testing I have no idea WHAT it does. I can fill in the circle but that's about it. I can't unfill it. I don't get a dialog box or anything that lists the users bookmarks so they can choose .. I'm just not sure what that "bookmark" in the TOC is supposed to do.
What I'd like it to do is bookmark slides so at a later date a user can go into the course and pull up their "bookmarks" and choose which one they'd like to view.
Anyone have any clue if this can be accomplished?
    Thanks for your help peeps!

    Hi Bradley,
It should work just a Lilybiri described and that is also how it works for me.
Any chance you are deploying through and LMS? If so then you also need to select "Never send resume data" in the SCORM reporting settings. Otherwise that would create a bookmark for you.

  • Re-Randomizing questions when resume data is on?

    Hi there,
I suspect I might know the answer I get for this but its worth an ask anyway.
Is there a way of re-randomizing questions when taking a course with resume data on?
I've been getting into the nitty gritty of captivate with the functions it sends and I have found the ones for randomizing the questions but I can't run them without knowing the correct parameters (all the variables have confusing names such as gqs, pqs and so on)
I talked to Adobe support in regards this and was told that  custom scripts were not supported and I would have to pay extra for a Dev support contract if I wanted a (I assume) software developers take on things which I think is a bit unfair considering having randomized questions really should be a basic feature of a course authoring software.
I was also looking at having resume data turned off in captivate and sending out my own which would track the viewed section variables along with the current page and then having a script for captivate jump to the required page once the course was opened.
Anyone have any experience with using your own resume data or any other ideas?
    Cheers

Ok: This is what I understood: You do not want to Display a whole column of 0's (for Feb) but you want the user to be aware that there were 0 deliveries for feb.
So if you run the report for a Calmonth Range of 01.2006 to 06.2006, then just after the Free Chars in the report, you should see a row like Cal/Year Month Jan 2006..June 2006. This shows that the report was run for Jan to June range and the results show months Jan, March, April, May, June implying that there is no data for Feb.
