Adobe CEF Helper multiple instances causing problems using newest CC  1.5.1.369

I just reinstalled all CC and Apps after a clean refresh wipe of PC.  Within one week I am having several crashes and lockups and other strange behavior while using Photoshop, Indesign and other apps.
The lockups have been getting progressively worse, starting with very short delays while switching between apps or even switching to desktop to mouse click a file icon there which seemed almost like my machine would get focused on whatever app I was in and would not immediately release when I switched to do other things.  Now the lockups are getting longer.  Photoshop is also not fully closing down.  So later if I reopen it, a photoshop process is still running in Task Manager and I must force it down before I can open a new file in a new instance of photoshop.
Today I had one complete crash of PS, as well as some strange lockup when I had two small ad files open.  We are talking 1/6th page ads - small.  I had them open side by side when it locks up and only thing I can move is the mouse curser which has changed to an "unallowed" icon (circle with slash). Rest of application and tools were locked up.  In one of the files it would let me click a layer in the file and it would jump around the page.   I checked Task manager and multiple CEF helpers were running around 30-50,000K private memory working set, and one of the CEF helpers was fluctuating between 13-20% or so of CPU usage.  I immediately ended that service and photoshop started working again and I was able to save the files.   I'm still noticing other problems like not being able to select multiple items at one time to copy/paste seen both in Indesign and Adobe acrobat pdf files.
I remember hearing about this issue long ago and checked the forums.  Low and behold the long time Adobe CEF Helper problem thread was closed by a staffer in Feb, 2014, stating the following:

Locking this discussion as the cause of the excessive usage of Adobe CEF Helper was addressed in version 1.1.2.232.  For full release notes please see Creative Cloud app for desktop | Release Notes -http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/release-note/cc-release-notes.html.
If you are experiencing difficulties with the Adobe CEF Helper please post a new discussion with the specifics of the behavior you are encountering.
I am having problems with the CEF helper and I have CC 1.5.1.369 as far as I can tell, on a fresh install a week old.
System:
Windows prof 7 sp1 64bit, 32gb ram, SSD main drive and mechanical data drive
Items added to this PC are autodesk products and Adobe CC Apps.   I don't have a number of addons for CC apps like photoshop, just one plugin for photoshop called Geographic Imager.
Hopefully there is something more subtle I can try besides wiping my PC and reinstalling all the apps and settings again.  A pc refresh and install this time with up to date CC and Apps was meant to fix all my broken file associations issues from previous updates - which it did.  But was hoping not to end up with a dreaded CEF helper issue.  Any help would be appreciated as this seems to be getting worse daily.
Other note, I turned off Syncing of settings when I first started noticing issues.  Haven't tried much else besides ending CEF helper services when forced to.

I just want to note that my recommendations led my clients to purchase more than 5 licences of FMIS/AMIS througt the time.
As I see how low is the passion to react to any problem on Adobe side, I would have probably changed my mind.
This is really pain in the *** as any call to adobe official contact (taken on mind that to find one is a big quest by itself) lead just to reply "pay nasty amount for our consultancy Sir!" and it does not look any better here....
I am no novice on FMS/AMS platform, working with it more than 6 years throught many projects and I would not ask for some stupid questions which could be solved just by looking to documentation or could be solved by some performance eperience.
I am really upset for this :/

  • Multiple Adobe CEF Helper, Conhost, icalcs.exe in Windows 8.1 Autostart

    While checking some autostart apps, that I could possibly deactivate, I found something strange.
    There are multiple entries for "Adobe CEF helper", "Conhost" and "icacls.exe". All grouped under the Adobe Creative Cloud.
    On my other machine, Conhost and icalcs.exe don't appear at all and Adobe CEF helper only once.
    They do not noticeably create any errors, however, it's not feeling right. I don't know exactly when these entries appeared for first time. The device is pretty new and I just installed a bunch of work related software like Office 365, Adobe CC, Chrome, ...
    When installing Filezilla, some bloatware/adware was automatically installed on the system (blame sourceforge, see download comments over there). Currently I'm testing Kaspersky Internet Security, 30 days trial. But I don't think none of them is to blame.
    I would personally like to avoid reinstalling Adobe CC, because it lasts forever.
    Q: What might have caused these entries? Should I correct it? And how should I correct it?
    System: Windows 8.1 64bit on an fairly new ASUS GL550JK.
    Thanks.

    Update: I reinstalled the whole system and it still shows up.
    Directly after the installation of Adobe CC, only Adobe CC showed up in the Autostart menu. Even after a restart still nothing (and the entry still had "boot time - no measured"). After the boot time was measured, same subentries as above appeared.

  • Will multiple Lan cards cause problems using rmi?

    Will multiple Lan cards cause problems using rmi? If a host has two or more network cards (only one of which is Internet-enabled), how does RMI know which IP address to use? There seems to be a problem when such a client registers with an RMI service, and has a client-side callback method invoked by the server.

    You can tell RMI the address you want by defining java.rmi.server.hostname at the JVM which exports the remote object.

  • Adobe CEF Helper high CPU usage whilst idle. No CC apps open... HELP

    I have a 2015 Macbook Pro Retina 13", i7,16GB - and I've noticed Adobe CEF Helper is using 13-18% CPU whilst no CC apps are open.
    I have signed out, quit and relaunched Adobe CC app and signed back in. This temporarily fixed the problem and lower the usage to 0.1% (yesterday) today the problem has returned.
    AND I haven't even used any CC apps today.
    Why is this happening? Is there a permanent fix.
    Thanks
    P.S - I have all the latest updates installed.

    Iv'e been noticing this as well.  I have Photoshop installed on my Windows and Mac computer.  This is pissing me off and for this reason i'm canceling my subscription.
    I'm sorry but I write software and no way in hell should a background process be utilizing 5% of my modern CPU.  I only use Photoshop for basic stuff, not worth this crap.  Iv'e been slowly uninstalling all Adobe products off my computer as they are major bloat ware and slow down your computer even when you don't use them.  I'll stick to Win8 or Chrome PDF reader, Gimp, Paint.NET ect or other Open Source software that don't do this simple stuff I need.

  • Adobe CEF Helper is sending data. How can I stop this?

    After starting my mac Adobe CC starts sending data. It is a lot of data (7 GB a day) and makes working very slow. How can I stop this. I closed Adobe CEF Helper, but it starts again after some moments. Only closing CC ends the process. Why wants Adobe my datas? It s a terrible process for working and makes using internet very slooooooow.

    There are two different Flash Player Plugins for Windows (3 if you count Google Chrome, but it's built in and functions independently of the other two).
    The one for Firefox won't affect IE.
    Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
    Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Download and run both of those. That should have you up to date.

  • Why is Adobe CEF Helper.exe stoping Autodesk Revit Worksharing monitor from starting

    Hi,
    My worksharing monitor wouldn't show. It was there in my tasks and processus manager, but not visible.
    Then I looked up Adobe CEF Helper.exe and found that is was related to Adobe Creative Cloud I had installed to go with my Adobe Captivate licence.
    So I uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud and have no more problems... any ideas on how they can coexist?
    Thanks,

  • Adobe CEF Helper.exe helping?

    Hello,
    In my Windows taskmenu I see 'Adobe CEF Helper.exe' five times, with 18, 6, 29, 33 and 37 Mb memory usage. Is this normal? I already checked the post of june
    on this subject (so I closed Adobe creative cloud, signed out and in again). Thanks in advance! Marcel

  • Adobe After Effects Multiple instances does not working parallel using Scripting

    Hi all,
    i am uploading after effects template to my site, user came and upload his desired contents.
    i update the template using scripting with user's contents and then render video so user get video with his uploaded text/images etc.
    its working perfectly when i update a single template at a time but when multiple users come at the same time then they need multiple instances of after effects
    so i open multiple instances of after effects by using "-m" with after effects shortcut
    after looking at windows task manager there are both instances but the problem is
    only once instance continue and the second one stop, after completion of first instance the second one still in pause status
    i need 2,3 4 or whatever instances to work parallel without pause/stop
    i am using windows server 2008 R2 with XAMP installed

    Hi Lal XaDa,
    Would you please post your script to help us to troubleshoot?
    In addition, if you can use Windows Powershell, please try these ways:
    If a script needs some speed-up, you might find background jobs helpful, you can use the cmdlet "start-job", for more detailed information, please go through this article:
    Parallel Processing in PowerShell
    You can also use the cmdlet ForEach -Parallel in powershell workflow to handle script in parallel.
    For more detailed information, please check this article:

  • If I install the update to Adobe Reader 10, will that cause problems with Acrobat Pro 9?

    Firefox (version 15.0.1) is telling me I need to install an update to Adobe Acrobat 9.4 in order to view pdf files in my browser. I use Acrobat Pro 9. The update is actually Adobe Reader 10, and I am wondering if I install this, will it cause problems with my version of Acrobat Pro?
    Because I am not sure if this is so, I have temporarily disabled the plug-in and now pdf files download automatically rather than display in my browser. I would prefer they open in my browser but do not want to upgrade to Acrobat X.
    My OS is Windows Vista. I did not include the "troubleshooting information" file because I'm not sure what specific info is being requested.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi WMdotcom

  • [iPhone] Multiple viewControllers cause problems

    Hey,
    I have a problem, by using multiple view Controllers. I create multiple view programmically by calling this method multiple times at the beginning of my application:
    - (IUCViewController*) _createView:(CGRect)frame outOf:(NSMutableDictionary*)dict withID:(NSString*)viewID {
    UITableView* actualView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:frame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped];
    actualView.tag = viewID.intValue;
    UIView* actualElement;
    NSString* elementTag;
    NSObject* actualObject;
    IUCViewController* controller = [[IUCViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
    controller.editing = NO;
    controller.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[SendingButton alloc]initWithReceiver:controller];
    textController = controller.textController;
    for(id key in dict) {
    actualObject = [dict objectForKey:key];
    switch([_allowedElements indexOfObject:key])
    case 4: //elements
    _actualDictionary = [dict objectForKey:key];
    for(id elementKey in _actualDictionary) {
    if([elementKey isEqualToString:@"parent"]) {
    else {
    actualElement = [self _createElement:frame outOf:elementKey];
    elementTag = elementKey;
    [actualElement setTag:elementTag.intValue];
    [actualView addSubview:actualElement];
    if([_viewType isEqualToString:@"table"]) {
    controller.actualView = (IUCTableView*)actualElement;
    return controller;
    break;
    default://various property
    break;
    controller.actualView = actualView;
    return controller;
    After all, I push the mainView to my navigationController. So far so good, the view appears:
    - (void) receivedNewLayout {
    NSMutableDictionary* views = [_xmlController views];
    IUCTextController* controller = [views objectForKey:_xmlController.mainViewID];
    [navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES];
    [navigationController setNavigationBarHidden:FALSE animated:FALSE];
    This causes two problems:
    1.) When I simulate a memory warning, it is send to every viewController, not just to the one on top. Is there any chance to fix this?
    2.) This is strange, because I did not have this problem, when I just had one viewController. The textfields on the view do not react anymore. There is no keyboard showing or any event triggered. I do not why.
    Can u help me with these problems?

    will this cause issues for the screen
    No
    will it do nothing to the resolution of the phone?
    no

  • Adobe CEF helper

    What is CFE helper? What is the reason why multiple processes are running CFE Helper in Yosemite? Why are they consuming so much memory?

    Not sure how to answer the first question. I'm only subscribed to Photoshop and don't have Bridge CC installed yet, but I also have the CS6 versions installed from subscription. Could be anything from 1 to 3, I guess.
    This time I found four CEF processes instead of three. I killed them all (starting with the misbehaved one) and they showed no sign of coming back.
    Restarting Creative Cloud, initially I had only one CEF process with no CPU usage. Clicking on the Behance tab started a second process (still no CPU). Opening Photoshop created a third process, but one of them (maybe the last one) went away while I was typing and I'm back down to two.
    The Home tab tells me my "Home Feed is empty," which could be significant. I don't remember what it said before.
    I had that pref turned off before I killed it, and switching it back on doesn't change anything that I can see. Clicking on the Install Adobe Apps or Link with Behance buttons just takes me to their respective tabs. Still no runaway CEF processes, so I'll keep an eye on it for further developments.
    Note also that I had to kill the Creative Cloud and Creative Cloud Helper processes after killing CEF because I had a ghost CC menu bar icon and window that wouldn't go away. Killing them as well as CEF might be important.
    lord-_-yoda wrote:
    Just wondering, You said you had 3 CEF processes running. How many applications do you have installed ?
    I have 3 installed and even though I tried killing the processes,  3 of them keep restarting. I had 4 running at one point of time but I managed to kill one off. Have tried ending the 3 processes individually to see if you can kill any ?
    Just trying to figure out what the process does.

    When I noticed it just now it was using a steady 18% CPU. I have Windows 7 running in VMware and it's idling around 15%. Adobe's "helper" app is more CPU intensive than an entire virtualized OS? What the hell?

  • Adobe Reader 9 - multiple instances performance issue

    Dear all, I am having some performance issues regarding adobe reader, but only when running multiple instances. Opening a single, relatively small pdf ( 418kb ) works perfect, but adding to the list of open flies another very small file ( 102kb ), the cpu usage jumps to cca. 53% mouse movements become jumpy and the cooling fan goes nuts. Nothing helps until the second file I've opened is closed. Closing only the first instance doesn't help at all.
    This happens with any two files I've tried. Large, small, graphics or not. Hardware is not the issue.
    Any ideas?
    Kind regards,
    Vince

    This second file: is it one you made? Or does it happen with any

  • How do I get Adobe to help with an installation problem?

    I removed Windows Vista, and installed XP instead. Then tried to install CS3 using the file I downloaded from Adobe 2 years ago. It installed Acrobat, but the other components (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) failed with “Component not installed.” No error message. Never even asked for my serial number.
    Phoned Adobe support on Sunday: closed.
    Phoned again on Monday. Told to run CSClean. Did not solve problem. Phoned back. Swapped around departments (2 hours total on hold.) Promised they would email a link to download the installation file again. No email sent.
    Phoned again Tuesday. More hours on hold. More promised link. Never sent.
    Phoned again Wednesday. More hours on hold. Finally given a zip file link. Downloaded it 3 times, using different software (browser, FTP client.) I received the exact number of bytes on Adobe’s server, but the file is “not a valid archive” — rejected both by Windows itself and by WinZip.
    We’ve now lost 3 days work, and cancelled clients for Thurs as well.
    Utterly frustrated! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET ADOBE TO HELP???

  • Multiple instances cause bsod when i click restart from a firefox crash

    i tend to have multiple instances of firefox open. right click -> open in new window. sometimes lots of them. lots. as high as 80-100 in the past.
    the problem work like this. at some time firefox crashes. sometimes i get video distortion on an instance or instances.
    when i restart firefox, i get oops something went wrong screen. i can restart my sessions or start anew.
    occasionally, very occasionally, when i select restart my computer blue screens.
    this is from the event log:
    0x100000be (0xbd3de000, 0x1e79e021, 0xb07c3b38, 0x0000000c)
    the computer is xp sp3, up to date with patches
    i have tried several different video cards with no change in behavior
    i have 4gb of memory on an intel i5 series processor.
    of note: the number of instances that i can open before firefox starts going bonkers has been going down since versions late teens or 20 something.
    this is getting annoying because this is the only blue screen i get. and it only happens when i click that button.

    Trying to load 80 windows at once certainly sounds like a challenge. When you use multiple tabs in a smaller number of windows, Firefox only loads the active tab in each window, which reduces the load.
    I don't wish you any more blue screens, but could you keep a digital camera or phone camera handy the next time you try this and grab a pic of the specific of the error? Hopefully that will provide more information about the type of failure.
    Meanwhile, I suggest backing up sessionstore.js/sessionstore.bak in a safe location and restoring fewer windows to get back in business.
    You can swap in the old session file later, or
    one of the data mining techniques in these posts to rescue the URLs from your backed up files (assuming you're keeping these windows open for later reference and don't require a live session to be maintained):
