Adobe Central Pro supported on a Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2?
Is Adobe Central Pro or can AC be supported on a Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2.
Currently only have it on SP1.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When is Adobe Central Pro going to be sunset?
Hi Don,
I've installed SP4 (Incremental) as found here: http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/service_packs/crystal_reports_en.asp#CRXIR2
But could not find an SP4a or SP6 there. I googled them, leading to another Business Objects page, in which there was a SP4 Full and SP 6 Incremental link, but I can't get a complete download of either.
Can you point me in the right direction? Sorry for the lack of knowledge navigating the Crystal site - it's not a product I'm overly familiar with.
Thanks.
Public APIs for Adobe Central Pro Server
Hi,
Can anyone point me to the Public APIs that are available with the Adobe Central Pro Server e.g. I would want my application to dynamically add or remove steps in the job db, or change the target printer. Also, is it possible to invoke the preview functionality that comes with the Adobe Designer and integrate with an existing application
Here what we are trying to do is add the printing (template merging) facility to an existing application and would want access to the public API for these products.
Thanks in anticipation!
Regards,I'm not sure you can do what you describe in the manner that you appear to be wanting to do it. I know of no APIs that are provided. There are ways to get the job done, though.<br /><br />The job management data base is an ascii text file that can easily be changed programatically. Parts of our application use it for building a drop-down list of printers for the user to select from. Changing it doesn't automatically cause Central to use the new file. Central must be told to reload it before it will be using the modified file. This can be done by placing a certain "command" file in Central's control folder, but it would not run until after the current job completes - if the current job is the one that just changed the file and further steps of the same job are for the processing of the data, then that would be too late. Once a job starts, all the parameters and tasks from the job management database and on the original ^job statement is what will be used. This goes for changing anything about the job, whether it be adding/deleting steps, changing the printer, or any other parameters.<br /><br />We accomplish pretty much what you want by doing several things. <br /><br />*First, we define all of the various configurations of jobs that we need. For example, our main printing job has four tasks; it is not uncommon to need to restart a job someplace besides the first task. Therefore, we have four different jobs defined, each one starting further down the list of tasks. We do the same thing when the processing of the data has to vary in some manner - we have jobs pre-defined for each specific set of tasks and the source of the data sets the ^job name as required for the specific tasks that have to be done.<br /><br />*For modifying the printer, we use the -z<printer> and -asp<driver> parameters on the ^job statement and the source of the file sets the values as necessary. The source of the file will also set the job name so that the desired job is ran. <br /><br />*We also have built into our custom agents the capability to recognize when a "soft" failure is occurring (such as can't reach our database) and it will put the job back in for processing after changing the job name to run the correct job for restarting at the proper step. <br /><br />*One of our steps is to check a control file to see if there is a redirection for the specified printer to a substitute printer (say, the original printer is down for maintenance). This agent will put the job back in for processing, changing not only the job name but the printer parameters. It has to be put back in, instead of just changing the parameters and passing the file on to JFMERGE, because Central uses the parameters on the original ^job line, it doesn't use the parameters that might be on the ^job line when JFMERGE starts.<br /><br />*We have also created our own agent for running as the JFERROR task. This task runs when one of the agents supplied with Central encounter a failure. Our agent analyzes the failure and determines if it was "hard" or "soft". If it was a "soft" failure, this agent requeues the job, changing the name and parameters as necessary.<br /><br />So far we have been unable to determine how to get our VB6 agents to set the ErrorLevel to notify Central that the agent failed (we came up with a workaround instead of spending a lot of time trying to get the ErrorLevel to work). This is necessary to prevent Central's agents from processing when a predicessor custom agent fails. Since we couldn't set the ErrorLevel, we just set up all of our agents to always create an output file for input to the next task. When one of our agents fail, it only outputs a modified ^job line with no following data. This modified ^job line is recognized by our custom agents as an indication that a failure is in process so it skips any processing except to pass the file to the next task. Since there is no data or form commands in the file, once it gets to JFMERGE, it just terminates without producing any output or error condition.<br /><br />Previewing is accomplished by running the JFPVMRG agent to create a PDF and then JFPVSEND to send it to the originating IP# for receipt by the View Manager which will then load it into Adobe Reader. At this point, the job running on Central will be finished - it could have produced hard-copy output or not depending on its design. Once the user receives the PDF, they can do whatever they want with it (save, print, etc).<br /><br />We use the above capability for our users to view an "archive" image of forms, after it has been processed normally. I know of others that use it to create the PDF as part of the normal processing, allowing the user to then print from Adobe Reader it if they wish.<br /><br />What we do is to drop a DAT file into Central's input folder that runs the above two agents. Our application that is running on the user's PC then watches for Adobe Reader to load and when it does it forces it to be the top-most task (we do this because we have a problem that it will often open behind other windows).
I keep getting error code 0x80070643 when I try to install Sql Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB2528583)
Operating System is Windows 2008 R2 64 bitHi JamesRead,
According to your description, when you install SQL Server 2008 R2 service pack 1, we need to verify if
you must have administrative rights on the computer.
There are multiple files available for the download, you will be prompted to select the files you need. We need to verify if you run the SQLServer2008R2SP1-KB2528583-x64-ENU.exe. Or you can install SQL server updates from the command
prompt and check if it can install successfully.
You can prepare an installation of database engine instance to include product update:
setup.exe /q /IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms /ACTION=PrepareImage /UpdateEnabled=True /UpdateEnabled=True /UpdateSource=<path where the update is downloaded> /INSTANCEID=<Instance ID> /FEATURES=SQLEngine
For more information, you can review the following article about installing Updates from the Command Prompt.
Hello.
How do I run a weblogic platform portal 8.1 on a weblogic server 7.0 service
pack 4?
Is that a supported configuration? any problems / Issues ?
Weblogic IntegratorWhy the hell do you want to do that ? ? ?
just run it on 8.1, if you need to get info from the 7.0 server just get it.
8.1 is a whole new framework, what you suggest a hack that is probably not supported.
Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB2977320)
So i have been trying to install this update on one of our servers since it is showing up on our MBSA scans but it has been failing on one of our machines with the error code: 0x80070643
I downloaded the update and tired to install it manually. The installer returned: There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer. If that was true then why is SCCM still pushing the update to the machine and why
is the MBSA showing that it needs the update? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!Hi David,
Based on my understanding, the error code: 0x80070643 was thrown out when you install KB2977320 with MBSA. And installation also failed when you download and install update manually.
Regarding the error code: 0x80070643, it can be caused if the MSI software update registration has become corrupted, or if the .NET Framework installation on the computer has become corrupted. To fix this issue, we can follow these methods:
Fix MSI software update registration corruption issues
Repair the .Net Framework
Uninstall and reinstall the .Net Framework
For more information, please refer to this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976982.
Besides, the security update is released for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2, please check the version of SQL Server you are using. About how to check the SQL Server version, please refer to this article: How to tell what SQL Server version you are running
(http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1140/how-to-tell-what-sql-server-version-you-are-running/). Then please download the Security Update for SQL
Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 from this link (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43957), and retry install it manually.
Unable to install Sun Java System Web Server 6.1 Service Pack 7 on Wndows
Dear All,
I recently downloaded Sun Java System Web Server 6.1 Service Pack 7 and now I am trying to install it.
The previous version of Web Server 6.1 that i installed is running successfully on Windows 2000 Prof. though it is not meant for it.
To install SP7, i uninstalled the previous Web Server 6.1. I also removed the folder Sun and all the child folders of it. The Sun ONE Web Server services are still available and i can't able to delete them even from registry so i disabled them.
Then I tried to install SP7. But after few steps, it gives error:
You already have a Sun ONE Web Server installed. Install can not proceed.
I am sure that i am able to remove completely the previous instance of webserver as i removed all the entries from registry also and also disabled the services related to it.
Still why i am getting this error?
Will it work on Windows 2000 Professional like its previous version?
If not can i able to install previous version of the Web server 6.1 (without SP7) on Windows 2000 Prof?
Please help me regarding this.
-SameerSameer, you should have uninstalled Web Server 6.1 using the Web Server uninstallation program instead of just deleting its files and directories. Your Windows registry is now in an inconsistent state.
If you can restore your previous Web Server 6.1 installation from a backup, you can run the uninstaller to correctly uninstall it.
If you cannot uninstall Web Server 6.1 using its uninstallation program, you will need to manually delete the Windows services and edit the Windows registry to remove all references to the files you deleted. Note that you can render your computer inoperable by deleting services or modifying the Windows registry. Don't do this if you're not confident with what you're doing.
To delete the services using SC.EXE:C:\>sc delete https-admserv61
C:\>sc delete https-hostname(You can find the hostname for the Web Server 6.1 service(s) using the Services program in the Administrative Tools folder of the Control Panel.)
To clean up the registry, use REGEDIT.EXE to delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Sun Microsystems/WebServer. -
S S ManneHi Manne,
As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.
IPlanet Application Server 6.0 Service Pack 3 Test Drive
Hi,
We are trying to port an existing web-app (runs on WebLogic and JBoss)
to the iPlanet Application Server platform.
We can deploy our app, but cannot access it once it is deployed.
Is the iPlanet Application Server 6.0 Service Pack 3 Test Drive "cripple
ware" or is it a fully functioning trial which allows you deploy new
apps to it?
Thank You,
Eric KahlerHello,
If the issue is looking up the bean and you are looking up the bean as you
would with JBoss or BEA:
String beanName = "Bean";
ctx = InitialContext();
ctx.lookup( beanName );
then you might have the problem there. Atleast this is what we have found
with beans needing to be convered. Change the lookup to be ctx.lookup
("ejb/" + beanName ); and you might be better. I haven't tried it on JBoss
or Bean but ctx.lookup( "java:comp/env/ejb/" + beanName) might work on all
the different app servers
Sun One Web Server 6.0 Service Pack 5
I installed Windows 2000 SP3, Coldfusion MX Updater 1, and Sun One Web Server 6.0 Service Pack 5. In 2 separate instances I had the Sun One Web Server Stop serving all html pages immediately after I set automatic access log rotation in the web server administrator. I had the access log rotate every 1440 minutes at 12:00 AM. Although the web server instance appeared to be started, no html pages could be served. In addition, I was not able to undo the changes through the web server administrator. I finally tried to edit the magnus.conf file to remove the new log settings. However, nothing could bring back the web server into a working state. Web Server restarts and entire server reboots did not resolve this issue. I was wondering if anybody else has seen this issue and if so, how did you resolve it? I was forced to completely uninstall the web server and reinstall it. This makes me hesitant to put Sun One Web Server 6.0 SP5 into production. Any other thoughts or experiences with SP5 in a Windows/ColdfusionMX environment? Thanks for any help?
Since removing the log settings from magnus.conf failed to fix the problem, the log settings are probably not the source of the problem.
Did anything else - e.g. ColdFusion configuration changes - occur at about the same time you changed the log settings? -
