Hi, all. I need to get certified with the ACE in Illustrator and Photoshop for work. I feel comfortable with the Design version of the Creative Suite, but I know that the ACE exams are not easy to pass. I'm wondering what the best study/preparation materials are. If anyone has a suggestion from experience, I would really appreciate it, as I am already nervous about having to sit for the exams. I'd feel a lot more confident if I knew I was well-prepared first.

Always a few questions from ACE book as suggested, and can be seen with every version update of ACE books
Go through EVERY menu and palette flyout option (I start left to right)
Go over color mgmt again (though most people turn off color mgmt or leave defaults because it is so complex, always a few questions on that)
Read the post on these forums (actually an excellent way to one up before the exams, cause it forces you to go into things you don't normally do)
Search help for keyboard shortcuts and go over all of them. You won't get asked to memorize every keyboard shortcut so don't worry, but again this forces you to break your habit and go into things you might not use)
Go deep into transparency options and appearance panel
Do this and you will be condfident and ready

jcmwork we had a very unhappy poster here a while back who had paid a bunch of dollars to take the ACE Photoshop exam, and was angry at what he considered a high percentage of irrelevant questions. So my ironic quiz above was stretching the point a wee bit, but you could be very proficient indeed, and still fail miserably.
If you want to sell yourself as a Photoshop user, perhaps putting your very best work on Behance would be a good way to go. It sure would be cheaper.

How will the Adobe Certified Expert program be managed with the shift to Creative Cloud?

I am presently studying to certify as an Adobe Certified Expert/Adobe Certified Instructor in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. My studying has been based upon the CS6 versions.
How will the ACE program work once we switch to CC? Should I wait for more changes to the program before taking my exams?

We will offer CC exams and keep the existing CS6 exams available while Adobe continues to sell and support our Creative Suite 6 product line. Creative Suite 5 exams will be retired as the new CC offerings are released.
I know there are a lot of questions that will come up as our ACEs begin to work with CC and prep for the new certifications. To coordinate with the CC certifications, the exams will now be based on time periods. Meaning your certification will be valid for a pre-specific length of time and will be required to recertify to maintain the CC product certifications. Adobe Certified Expert questions...

Can you get certified on any version of photoshop or do you have to start at Photoshop 1.0?
Once you're certified does your certificate "expire" ? Do you have to retake a test? If so how often?

you have to take it for the latest version available. As for expiring, yes and no, to keep it up-to-date you have to retake the exam after a new version comes out but you can still use your old ACE certification in text form (so no showing off the logo) as long as you specifically mention for what version it is.

Why isn't there an Adobe Certified Associate Exam for After Effects?

I've been traching my students Video production, and as you all know one of Premiere's best partners for this is After Effects. I get my students to pass the ACA for Premiere Pro (we're on CS5 still) but there is nothing for After Effects. Why is this? These types of certifications are excellent for students - it looks great on college resumes and can count toward post-secondary exams for them in some schools. Any idea why there isn't an ACA for this? I know there is the ACE, but from what I've taken I know the ACE exams are more difficult than the ACA exams. I think the ACA curriculum is great for high school students, and the ACA exam is a perfect exit exam for this age.

iTunes doesn't handle the import of photos from a digital camera including from the iPhone's Camera Roll, which this would involve along with creating the albums or folders on your computer for the albums created on the iPhone from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera and photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Although photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll are included with the iPhone's backup, it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone alone for this which can be lost or stolen, or on your iPhone's backup which includes a significant amount of other data in the event a problem develops with the backup.
Since photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, you can create albums/folders for select photos on your computer to include photos imported from your iPhone's Camera Roll and for other photos on your computer for transfer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process, which is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone.

How best to become an Adobe Certified Expert in InDesign 5.5?

Several versions back I studied for and was one point short of becoming an ACE in InDesign. For many reasons I did not retest. I studied with flash cards I purchased somewhere on the Internet.
Don't really want to read the book; I don't learn well that way. Could go through Help or each menu feature, but I know there's more to the test questions than that.
Does anyone know of flash cards available? Any tips to doing well on the test?

I second this book! I took my CS5 test last year and this book was a great help. I also had CS5 'Classroom in a Book' but didn't find it as effective. I am more of a visual learner and found that giving myself projects helped a lot. It also helped that I was working full-time in the software at the time so was able to try various techniques and 'push buttons' to see what happened.
Practice exams can be helpful as well: http://www.acequestions.com/ , but keep in mind, these are practice and the questions asked are very different, although centered around the same topic.

DWCS6 ACA exam prep?

Hello everyone,
i'm going to get the ACA certification about Dreamweaver CS6. To be more prepared, i completed the "courses" with "Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a book" and "Introduction to Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 with ACA Certification", i followed guides and so on. Now i'd like to book that exam but i'm not completely sure that i know all the necessary to pass. Checking around i saw that there are sites that offer t-prep or something like that, simulations of the exam with examples and explanations. Thi, over all, for the ACE exam... and i couldn't find the ACA one!
Anyone knows a site where i can buy a license or something like that for this kind of simulation? Or at least, is there a good site where i can practice more (or another book that prepares me better than those, maybe.... not saying they're bad, but i'm not confident in my preparation).

EDIT: i'm thinking about getting the ACE prep exam.... would it be a wise choice? I imagine that, once you're ready for an ACE exam, the ACA is going to be a walk in the park... or am i wrong?

Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) exams are much more comprehensive. To pass this level, you will need to be very familiar with:
HTML,
CSS,
client-side scripts,
server-side scripts,
connecting to databases,
the various behaviors panels,
working with forms,
working with Templates,
and all other aspects of the DW software version you are being tested on.
In contrast, the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) exam is more of an intro level exam & not nearly as complex. It measures basic proficiency with your chosen product. As such the preparation is not too rigorous either. Below you will find the ACA Prep Guides for DW CS3 - CS6.

Adobe Certified Associate Badges

Hello, I recently passed my Adobe Certified Associate exam for dreamweaver cs6 and downloaded the badges from certiport. My question is what can I link the badge too when putting it on my website for proof?
For example, when you get a badge from the Better Business Bureau, they auto create a proof page for you to link your badge too. Some certifications give you an ID number that potential clients and employers can enter into the cert place's website that confirms "John Smith is a Certified blah blah blah."
For the cost of the tests and proctor fees, seems weird there wouldn't be a proof page on either adobe or ceriport to link to? Please advise how to prove my certs are real to potential clients and employers or what page I should link my badge to? Thanks!

Adobe Classroom Book for Certified Expert?

I have a copy of "Adobe Photoshop CS4 Classroom in a Book". If I learn this book will it provide all the material I need to become a Certified Expert in Photoshop CS4, does it cover the course material completely, or should I look for some other book?
I am already a Certified Associate in Photoshop CS3 and am looking to upgrade my skills. I understand Expert is a lot harder than Associate.

I would not count on this. I understand that there is a pool of questions in the exams, and the ones that each person gets varies randomly. (It was like that back when I got my ACE.)
So different users may or may not get the same number of questions on any one area. You really want to be up on everything in the prep guide that Zeno points to.
