Adobe changed all my icons

Hi I am not that computer friendly but can follow clear instructions. However I have visited Microsoft technical help and what came up was to either fix windows file registry or clear or fix the icon cache, none of which was something I have done dare not make a mistake and the instructions weren't that clear. In the past I have never had a problem with Adobe but its just suddenly started. I am running windows 7, Internet Explorer and my laptop is a Pavilion HP g series. I would value any help please because I have to keep un installing and re installing when I want to use it. It hasn't changed the Word icons, just appears to be windows programmes and Internet Explorer. Many thanks.

Maybe you should considering hiring a computer technician to do it for you... Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

Hiya Katrina! I might have accidentally made some progress on this one yesterday.
Every time I've seen it reported and I've tried to do some work on it, it has only affected one user account on the PC.
So ... it might be related to a damaged icon cache for the affected user account. (There's one of those for each different user account on the PC. This is what I accidentally learned yesterday while trying to research a fix for a slightly different problem.)
If that's what is going on, rebuilding the icon cache might get folks past it:

How do we change my book attachments back to MOBI attachments?

What is your operating system?
How did "Adobe change all my MOBI book files to Acrobat files" - do they now have a .pdf extension?
Or is perhaps your .mobi file association wrong?

Adobe turns all my icons into adobe files...

everytime I download an adobe program it turns all my icons inot adobe icons and files and will not let me open them. I am using vista and just got this computer... I know it has to be a vista compatiblity problem and I am not sure how to fix it.... any suggestions without having to go through each file and setting the parameters? *sighs, kicking vista*

Firefox 31 changes all PDF icons to Firefox HTML icons that I can not seem to change back, can this be rectified? Using Windows XP.....

Once Firefox 31 is installed it sees all PDF files as Firefox HTML files and changes all of the PDF icons to Firefox HTML icons. This change can not seem to be reversed without uninstalling Firefox.
Only the icon is changed, not the .PDF extension.

Windows now thinks that the default file type for .pdf is Firfox HTML Document.
I can change which program opens .pdf files but I can't change the icon.
Not a Firefox problem? Really?

Let me explain further so that you can understand. In folder options / file types I can scroll thru and choose any file type / advanced and change the icon...every one of them except (now) .pdf. There is no advanced tab. Only the message about "restore" I mentioned before.
Firefox changed the file association for .pdf files and now I can't fix it.
And from another thread:

The solution to use REGEDIT in the question linked below almost fixed my trouble with PDF files on over 30 computers, with several users on each computer:

But I needed to fix it for ALL users on a computer, without logging onto each account, on each computer. My fix was to logon as administrator and change the following system-global key instead:

Changed the data from FirefoxHtm to AcroExch.Document.11
I use Adobe Reader XI on Win7 Pro, 64-bit machines.
The problem started when I ran a downloaded file to install the new version of Firefox on the computers.
Why would Firefox require me to use REGEDIT in this manner to fix the problem?

This only happens when you set Firefox as the default browser and Firefox thinks that there is currently no application the handles PDF files.

Installing Photoshop Elements 8 Changes All Program Icons to PSE Logo

I have a fairly new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I deactivated and uninstalled PSE 8 because it wasn't recognizing my camera(s) when connected to my PC. When I reinstalled Photoshop Elements 8, all of my program icons chnages to the PSE icon and all were rendered unusable. When I click on any program icon on the desktop or from the start menu PSE 8 opens. I deactivated and uninstalled Photoshop Elements 8 and all of the program icons and functionality returned. I tried reinstalling and the exact same thing happened. I had to deactivate and uninstall again since I can't figure out how to fix this.
I paid $89 for Photoshope Elements 8 and don't want to buy something else to edit photos. I also don't want to have to reformat my hard drive to try to make this work correctly. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Please try uninstalling PSE 8 using Adobe Clean Script which can be found at this link http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html. After successful uninstallation, reinstall again.
Also do not associate any of your file with PSE when you choose Open with for any file. Let me know your comments.

Changing ALL the icons?

Hey everyone, i've decided recently to spruce up my MacBook's desktop and have started switching icon images for the items on my desktop.
I found a really nice looking one that i use for a folder containing my documents.
question is, is there a way i can switch all the basic folder icons without changing every single one?
for example, if i create a new folder on my desktop or in another folder, can i make it so it doesn't get created with the default blue icon and starts off as the new icon i like?
any help is appreciated everyone, thanks alot in advance.

Yes, but you need to change something at the system level and know how to create icns files. That sort of hacking is not for the faint of heart, nor anyone who doesn't have a complete backup clone and know how to use it to recover from unfortunate mistakes. Take a look and some shareware applications for changing appearances. Many people like CandyBar:

What you describe is normal behavior for HDV capture using FCE.
DV captures as one clip or may split the clip if there are timecode breaks on the tape.
HDV always breaks clips at the shot changes using FCE.
HDV cameras can downconvert to DV even if HDV was used to record the footage so it's important to know what the camera outputs during FCE capture.
Maybe this is why you have had mixed results with the differing capture windows?

I've some serious problem. I'm creating theme with "Nokia Series 40 Theme Studio 2.2". I can change only 21 icons
(applications, audio_message, brew, icamera, CDMA, contacts, extras, gallery, go_to, log, media, messaging, numeric_entry, organizer, PTT, services, settings, SIMATK, sport, voice_portal, wireless_village).
And I'd like to change the others (folder icons, radio, games, IM, battery, "message icons" ...).
Is there any option to change it all (new graphic suit).
My phone: nokia 6267 (S40, same interface as 6131).

korngear, as far as I know, Ownskin is useless for S40 phones, and it isn't the answer for S60 phones, either, if you want to change all application icons.
The S40 theme tool is a Forum Nokia (content) developer tool, so try the Forum Nokia discussion boards: http://forum.nokia.com
However, I suspect that what application icons the tool lets you edit, are those apps you can edit.

Change date help icon inside table

Hello,
I've created a new theme and I've changed the date help icon(Theme Editor/Simple Elements/Labels and Fields). I can see new icon in portal but when displaying it from a cell inside a table, it displays the standard icon. Please, I need to show just our date help icon and not the standard one. It should have changed all date icons from our WD java application.
In addition, it happens the same with paginator. I've modified the Complex element: Paginator and all tables display my colours except for UWL paginator. Why UWL table is not showing the proper colours?
