  • Saving annotations on Adobe reader mobile

I am running Android Adobe Reader mobile and cannot save annotations. This has become extremely frustrating as annotations take a good deal of my time and not being able to save them on my device makes annotations on that device useless. My question to the forum is first how can i save annotations I have made directly on to my device and secondly if it is possible to have the device autosave after annotations are made on a continous basis. Thank you in advace.- WR

  • Goodbye Flash: YouTube mobile goes HTML5 on iPhone and Android

Greetings, Im looking for a better understanding to what this Flash war is about. and I would likreto hear from the Adobe side of designer.
Goodbye Flash: YouTube mobile goes HTML5 on iPhone and Android
How true is this, and what will become of designing Flash websites?
I finaly was able to upgrade to an entire Suite of Adobe products including Flash with the intention of doing some Flash work, but now the client is not wanting ANY flash work because it wont work on a phone!
What about all the Flash website alredy up and running? Will new sites have to be created just for the F*ing iphone?
Watching  Avatar on the back of a airline seats to cracker sized phone screens. seriously, what is the point.
    .. I know, it's a bit of a rant.

    Marek,
    Welcome to the forum.
Do you happen to have the usable specs. for these devices? I would assume that the manual, or maybe a product Web site would have such. That will help us determine the best settings to use.
    Good luck,

  • How do I add a mobile and tablet site created in Adobe Muse to an existing website?

Hi I have created a mobile and tablet version of an existing site in Adobe Muse and would like to add these versions without affecting the original site! is this possible?

Are you planning to have separate URLs for desktops, tablets and mobile devices?  That seems like a logistic nightmare to maintain.
Why haven't you re-built your desktop site with FluidGrid Layouts or CSS Media Queries in DW?  One site that works in all devices makes more sense.
Example with FluidGrid Layout (re-size viewport):

  • I have an editable pdf made in Acrobat. Viewing it Adobe Reader Mobile (Android) and I can fill it fine. I want to be able to fill the form but it keeps autosaving. I just want to email the form and then it goes back to an unfilled form. How do i do that?

I have an editable pdf made in Acrobat. Viewing it Adobe Reader Mobile (Android) and I can fill it fine. I want to be able to fill the form but it keeps autosaving. I just want to email the form and then it goes back to an unfilled form. How do i do that?

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.

    then please share.

I think you have the wrong community. Unless this is being done online through one of the Acrobat.com subscription PDF packs, you probably meant to have this in the Acrobat Forum (Acrobat). Try reposting the question there.
    Sorry I couldn't help!

A key challenge that Adobe is facing with FM and TCS, and that the survey did not really focus on, is platform strategy (other than cloud-based).
FM runs only on MS Windows today. MS has made a possibly fatal mess of Windows (and the x86 PC market) with Window 8. The nearly $1B write-off for Surface slabs, and the sad story on the Surface app catalog, strongly suggests that Windows has zero future on ARM.
For customers who insist on running an app locally, FM/TCS needs another place to run. The obvious candidates are MacOS, where FM used to run, and Linux, where FM briefly ran. Unix, where FM sort of still runs (FM8 is still available for Solaris) is probably out of the picture.
Mac might be the leading choice, as CS runs native there today.
A return to Linux probably would imply that whatever is ported also runs on Android. Adobe has their toes in that water, with Photoshop Express, but I'm not sure that Android is fully featured enough to be used as a desktop content creation platform.
But the real question is: what do the paying customers want?
The survey asked one incomplete question on that.
Whatever the platform, the whole of TCS needs to run on it, plus Photoshop.

  • When frequently switching between mobile and desktop view

When I frequently switching between mobile and desktop view I have to open the layers every time since they get closed/collapsed. Adobe may need to fix it for the next version.

You can use CTRL+# to switch between Code and Design View.
By the way, this is the Dreamweaver Application Development forum which deals with questions about using server-side scripting languages like PHP or ColdFusion. General Dreamweaver questions should be posted in the regular Dreamweaver General Discussions forum.
And while I´m at it: please use descriptive headlines such as "how to switch between Code and Design View" for your posts -- mentioning your screen name "Goula129" is not helpful to other users.

  • Is there Adobe Flash player and JavaScript for iPad

I want to watch a tv episode. Told needed adobe flash and JavaScript.  Are these available for iPad?

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • @Adobe: Flash Mobile axed?!

Adobe, I read today you have abandoned Flash development for mobile devices. But what does this mean for the future of Flex/AIR and developing apps in Flash Builder for mobile devices?

I was just sent this from a flash usergroup:
#1 Some FAQs about Adobe’s announcements yesterday
What is it that Adobe is announcing?
Adobe announced to increase its efforts on HTML5, use of the Flash Player for
applications (packaged with AIR) and specific desktop browsing use cases including
premium video and console-quality gaming. As a result, Adobe will no longer develop
Flash Player for mobile web browsers. See this Flash Platform blog post for more details: http://adobe.ly/sbokei
Does this mean that Adobe is no longer supporting content publishers focused
on delivering content via a browser on a mobile device?
Adobe offers world-class tools and technologies including HTML5 tools like Edge that
allow content publishers and developers to bring rich content and experiences across
    mobile web browsers using HTML5.
What does this mean for Flash Player support on desktops?
Adobe is fully committed to providing a great experience for use cases not yet well
supported by HTML, including console quality gaming and premium video. In fact, Flash
Player 11 just introduced dozens of new features, including hardware accelerated 3D
graphics for console-quality gaming and premium HD video with content protection. We
are already working on Flash Player 12 and a new round of exciting features which we
expect to again advance what is possible for delivering high definition entertainment
    experiences.
Why is Adobe making this move now?
All the major platform providers (Android, iOS, Windows 8) are betting on HTML5 for
browsing, some even to the point of excluding third party plug-ins such as Flash Player.
Adobe sees this as the right time to increase our focus on accelerating the development
of HTML for in browser experiences, especially on mobile (phones and tablets), and
general purpose apps, while using Flash to drive what’s possible in advanced interactive
entertainment areas like console-quality gaming and premium video so that it can
continue to serve as a blueprint for further work on HTML. Flash developers get the
greatest reach by targeting mobile devices with apps packaged with AIR, and that is
where we are investing while helping the mobile browsers advance the state of the art of
what can be done in a browser. Our new strategy allows us to maintain leadership in
web content and give developers the best tools to create content across all platforms.
Will Adobe continue to support AIR? On Mobile? On TVs?
Adobe is fully committed to enabling Flash based apps via AIR on mobile and digital
    home devices.
Will the Flash Player continue to be available on the Android Market?
Yes. The current version of Flash will be available on the Android Market in the near
    future.
When will Adobe stop supporting Flash Player for browsing on mobile?
Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will
provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit -
both expected to be released before the end of this year. After that time, Adobe will
continue to provide critical bug fixes and security updates.
What will happen with Flash Player support on RIM’s BBX platform?
Adobe will continue to support RIM’s use of the Flash Player on the current PlayBook
configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates. RIM has done a great job
optimizing the Flash Player for their platform and as a result the RIM playbook provides
a great experience for consuming Flash content. RIM is expected to leverage their
expertise with Flash to continue to support and ship the Flash Player on BBX devices for the foreseeable future.
Will the current version of Flash Player support smartphones and tablets that are
coming to market over the coming weeks and months?
It depends on the version of the OS, silicon, and browser supported on the device. We
are working with OEMs to determine the appropriate support and transition plan for their
    current and planned devices.
Will Adobe stop OEMs from shipping Flash Player on devices?
No, Adobe will not stop OEMs from pre-loading and shipping the Flash Player. We
expect some of our OEM partners to opt to continue working on and releasing their own
implementations of the Flash Player. However, Adobe will be recommending mobile
OEMs discontinue pre-loading new devices with Flash Player due to expected OS and
browser compatibility issues. However, existing licensees can continue shipping Flash
    Player at the manufacturer’s discretion.
Will 3D support and any of the console-quality Flash games you demoed at MAX
    come to mobile devices?
Yes, game developers will be able to bring console-quality games with hardwareaccelerated
3D graphics to mobile devices as Flash based apps packaged with AIR. On
the desktop 3D games can be delivered with Flash within the browser or as a Flash
based app via AIR. However, 3D content will not be supported in Flash Player on mobile
    browsers.
What does this mean for Flex?
Flex SDK 4.5 supports the development of mobile applications that target, or are
packaged with AIR. Mobile applications built with Flex SDK are installed on phone or
tablet devices and do not rely upon the browser or Adobe Flash Player to run; as such,
they are unaffected by this announcement.
How does this affect other Flash Platform tools?
This news has no impact on the Flash platform tooling offerings (e.g. Flash Builder) from
    Adobe.
Is Flash getting more and more replaced by HTML5? How will Adobe advance
Flash Player on desktops and stay relevant?
We are continuing to invest in Flash to deliver the most advanced web experiences on
desktops, focusing on features that are not yet available in HTML5. Flash Player 11 just
introduced dozens of new features, including hardware accelerated 3D graphics for
console-quality gaming and premium HD video with content protection. Flash
developers can take advantage of these features, and all that Flash has to offer, to reach more than a billion desktops through their browsers and repurpose their content to hundreds of millions of mobile devices through popular App Stores using Flash based
    apps packaged/enabled with AIR.
We are already working on the next future version of Flash Player and a new round of
exciting features which we expect to again advance what is possible for delivering high
definition entertainment experiences across the Web and devices. We will continue to
leverage our experience with Flash to accelerate our work with the W3C and WebKit to
bring similar capabilities to HTML5 as quickly as possible, just as we have done with
CSS Shaders. And, we will design new features in Flash for a smooth transition to
HTML5 as the standards evolve so developers can confidently invest knowing their skills will continue to be leveraged.
How many Flash-based apps are available on App Stores today?
There are thousands of Flash based apps available on App Stores like Android Market,
AppWorld, or Amazon’s App Store. Popular and top rated examples include
Machinarium, Politifact, Dr Stanley’s House, Facebook on BlackBerry, WatchESPN etc.
How are Flash-based apps different from HTML5 apps?
Flash based apps deliver features and capabilities not yet supported in HTML5 such as
3D graphics or content protection for premium video. Developers are able to deliver
high-end entertainment experiences as Flash based apps packaged via AIR on mobile
platforms and within the browser on desktops.
What about Flash Player and support for web browsing on TV’s (Google TV,
Samsung SmartTVs and other connected Digital Home devices)?
Adobe will continue to support existing licensees who are planning on supporting Flash
Player for web browsing on digital home devices and are using the Flash Player Porting
Kit to do so. However we believe the right approach to deliver content on televisions is
through applications, not a web browsing experience, and we will continue to encourage
the device and content publishing community down that path.
What happens to Flash browsing support in the Google TV solution?
We recommend you talk with Google, but we believe Google has no immediate plans to
remove the Flash Player from the Google TV browser.
Do you regret having waited so long after Steve Jobs predicted that Flash Player
won’t work on mobile devices 1.5 years ago?
HTML5 has matured and is able to deliver a great web browsing experiences across
mobile devices. At the same time users consume rich content almost exclusively via
apps on smartphones and tablets today.
At Adobe we are focused on delivering the best tools and technologies for our
developers and content publishers so they can offer the best possible experiences to
their customers across platforms - from desktops to smartphones, from tablets to
TVs. We are proud to lead the industry with HTML5 tools while offering new, cutting–
edge features in Flash that are not yet supported in HTML5.
Is this expected to improve the relationship between Adobe and Apple?
Adobe and Apple have a longstanding relationship and Mac and iOS users are very
important to Adobe. Like with any other company in the industry we work closely with
Apple in specific areas like support for our Creative Suite products on Mac OS while we
compete in other areas like video editing tools.
What platforms and browsers will Adobe continue to support with Flash Player for
    browsing?
Adobe plans to continue to support Apple Mac OS X and Safari; Google Chrome
Browser for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows and Intel-based Chrome OS; Microsoft Intel based Windows and desktop Internet Explorer; and cooperate with other third-party
browser providers such as Mozilla and Opera.
How will content publishers serving premium video reach mobile devices?
Content publishers can continue to stream premium, Flash based video content across
platforms and devices including the iPhone and iPad using Flash Media Server
4.5. Additionally, content publishers can deliver premium video experiences as Flash
based applications packaged with AIR across platforms including connected TVs.
Does Adobe intend to bring HTML5’s capabilities to full parity with Flash
Player? If yes, then why continue supporting Flash Player for desktop?
HTML5 today cannot replace the Flash Player as a platform for delivering console
gaming or premium video experience on desktop computers. Adobe plans to leverage
its expertise around these use cases to help HTML5 catch up to the Flash Player, but
even with the rapid pace of innovation for HTML5 it will take time for HTML5 to catch up
    to Flash.
Will Adobe create Flash Player for Windows 8 on ARM and Windows 8 on X86?
Adobe’s plan is to continue supporting Flash Player for browsing on desktops going
forward with Windows 8 on X86 only.

  • Building Web Apps on Adobe Coldfusion for Adobe Connect.

I'm looking for resources pertaining to development of web apps such as Widgets using Coldfusion 9 directed for use on Adobe Connect 9.  The only resource I'm aware of right now is the Collaboration Builder Toolkit SDK, but that is specifically for development with Flex and Actionscript.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/connect/9.0/collaborationbuildersdk/connect_9_collaboration.pd f
I'll gladly accept Flex + Actionscript as my goal if there are benefits of doing so.  Right now I'm looking for and HTML5 or CFML solution if possible for this project.

i'm using chrome on windows 8.
    here a screenshot on Muse:
    here the preview on chrome
as you can see it even changes the way the words are dislayed in each box (check the last line, 3 words on the muse version, 4 words on the browser version).

  • The mobile and tv profiles are not supported

Some how from the Adobe Air site I had the impression that Adobe was focussed on HTML5 + CSS + JavaScript for the mobile market.  I have a simple HTML5/CSS/JS code that only needs 2 Flash objects to play an .flv and another to play a simple .swf annimation.  I wonder if I can package that code with the Air SDK to reach the mobile market and desktops?
But then I read the subject disclaimer in the fine print of this doc.  Creating your first HTML-based AIR application with the AIR SDK
So will my code that uses HTML5/CSS/JS and 2 swf's built with Flash Pro 8 work with the AIR SDK to reach ios and Android devices??
If not can I put the code inside of another adobe tool to package it for mobiles and deskstops?  What tool(s)?
Oh, I do need to record some voice, too.
    Many thanks!

As long as you have a Superdrive or an external burner/drive, burning, watching, installing, etc. from CD or DVD will work just fine. And so will sharing.

  • Does iOS 7's Safari Convert Youtube Flash and HTML5 Videos to Quicktime? How Is it Playing?

Hi. It's good to see Safari (I have iOS 7) playing videos on sites like Youtube. Is it converting Flash and HTML5 to Quicktime or is the video playing because it's only using HTML5? How does Safari go about playing Youtube and Flash videos? Apple has solved the Flash for mobile problem then?
Thank you. Have a great upcoming sunday mass/ great week.
    God bless.

there is no flash for mobile problem since adobe has discontinued flash for any mobile device.
    Safari is not converting anything.
HTML5 facilitates streaming video in a format that ios devices can natively play(mp4).
Youtube/google is putting stuff up in html5.

  • Censorship on Adobe ColdFusion forums - Open letter to the management of the Adobe ColdFusion forums

This is reproduced from its original location at http://cfmlblog.adamcameron.me/2013/06/censorship-on-adobe-coldfusion-forums.html; it is also posted on the relevant ColdFusion forum. Apologies for the cross-post, but the two forums have different membership, and I think it's relevant to both.
Open letter to the management of the Adobe ColdFusion forums
(I do not know how to contact you, but I will try to find out and send this to you directly as well, as a courtesy).
    Hi.
I am a veteran user of your ColdFusion support forums. Over the last decade or so I have been visiting the site daily (indeed several times a day: I get notified when any post is made on any of your ColdFusion-centric forums), and answering as many of people's questions as I can. For the last few years it's been via the web UI so you can go check my participation, but prior to that I was using the forums via NNTP, and my participation during that period is less easy to quantify, but it's to the tune of a few thousand posts / answers to people's questions. I consider myself an asset to the forums, and the ColdFusion community. I mean this just as "for the record", rather than any attempt to inflate any sense of my worth.
However as of today - unless you take remedial action as I will go on to detail - I will be surrendering my membership of your forums, and ceasing all attempts to assist people there.
Why am I considering doing this? Well firstly I will reproduce a thread from your forums, then I will discuss it. Where possibly the quoted material below is as it was initially posted, and if it's not exactly as originally presented, this is an accident on my part. I have highlighted some points I wish to discuss with you, simply for ease of cross-reference.
I have confirmed with Jason Dean (12Robots) that is happy for me to quote him here. I did not attempt to contact the other participant: "grazan".
Below is a chronological reproduction of the thread (in its original form, anyhow):
cold fusion 9 500 Internal server error.

all of a sudden none of our cfm web pages work on a windows 8 server running iis 7 .... the

    First, ColdFusion is one word.
Second, what is a WIndows 8 server?
Third, and most important, you have provided ZERO detail. We can't help you if you don't provide something other than "none of our cfm web pages work".  ColdFusion has logs (<coldfusionDir>/logs) JRun has logs (<coldfusionDir>/runtime/logs). Even if the Windows event viewer shows nothing, there should be info in those log files about what is going on.

Well if you got over your misplaced indignation for a moment, let's see:
ColdFusion is what people will google for, so in the spirit of helping others who might have the same question as you later on, spelling it right will help the community.
Jason's observation that you give us absolutely nothing to go on so it's basically impossible to help you is a fairly poignant observation, right? You do want help? Right, so here's some suggestions:
Articulate your issue clearly, with sufficient detail that we can help you. Read this:
    http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smartquestions.html
Secondly... being rude to someone like Jason who really is one of the most helpful people on
these forums is a pretty stupid idea. And just serves to make you look a bit of a dick. Esp. with the caps lock on.
But anyway, let's call that a false start. Give us the details of your issue, and we'll try to help.
    Cheers.

    Forum admin,
You censored the comment "ColdFusion is one word"?  Seriously?
I didn't realize that suggesting that someone spell the name of the product correctly was against the forum guidelines.  I guess I could go look it up, but I will just unsubscribe and help out at Stack Overflow instead.

Please see how much I used to help out on these forums.
I'm outa here, but not before I complain about your dictatorial behaviour.
    Censorial nazi idiot.
[The entire message above has now been redacted].
That's the end of the relevant part of the thread.
Clearly I wish to speak to you about this censorship your moderator is choosing to undertake.
Firstly, let me say that I understand the perception that forums require moderation. Personally I think this position is of dubious merit, but so be it: it's a common practice. And I generally understand when I see things that have been moderated, or when a moderator step in and advises that they consider someone's wording contravenes forum guideline. I understand all this.
    However.
I think the behaviour of your moderator in this situation is unacceptable. Let me elaborate.
Firstly, The highlighted comment of Jason's was removed. This comment stated - correctly - that the correct spelling of ColdFusion is as one word, as per his guidance. This comment was censored/redacted by your moderator. For the life of me, applying my most "socially modest" mindset, I cannot see what was wrong with Jason's comment, and why it needed any follow-up on any description. It was accurate advice.
The original poster's response to Jason was indeed a bit gratuitous, but - really - so what? No-one is taking offence here, and there's nothing anyone reasonable could take offence at. The person is just being a bit childish in their response. And, I hasten to add, at their own expense, I think. I see not reason to have redacted what they said.
We now come to my responses. One entire response I made was redacted (I've only just noticed this, whilst proofreading this letter).  A number of tracts was redacted from my own initial post on the thread. Here I was simply explaining why Jason said what he did, and why it's good advice. And it was good advice. Your moderator here has removed both good advice, and an explanation as to why it was good advice. Again, I cannot fathom why your moderator has done this.
Following on from this I back-up Jason's assertion that the original post was inadequate on detail for us to help. This too is accurate. I reiterated this to try to make the origial poster see that Jason wasn't simply being unhelpful - to the contrary - pointing out we need more information before we can help is very good initial advice here. Advice that has now been deleted.
Next is some slightly contentious wording on my part, I suppose... at least if one doesn't actually read what I say, instead simply zooming in on one word and assessing it out of context. I pointed out that being abusive and writing in all-caps is unnecessary, and makes the person look like a dick. Note I didn't say the person was a dick (that would be abuse... very mild though), I was saying that given the behaviour the person was engaging in, they could be perceived that way. Which is... accurate. And saying someone is a dick and suggesting they could be perceived as a dick are two different things. One is ad hominem attack (bad), one is simply an observation / guidance (not bad).
At this point Jason drew my attention to this censorship going on. And this is another thing that I think is inappropriate on the part of the moderator. I have little problem with them thinking that content on this thread needs censorship (whilst they are wrong, they are entitled to their opinion), to silently and anonymously redact people's posts is an inappropriate - and to be frank cowardly - handling of this situation. If the moderator has an issue with something written on the forums, the courteous and professional thing to do would be to advise the participants that they have overstepped. This would give us a chance to remediate the situation, or to simply disagree. Simply excising someone's work - because this is volunteer work we are engaging in here - is unacceptable.
If anything ought to have been censored from the thread it was my last comment. Whilst it was accurate, I did use harsh sentiment, I accept this. However in the given situation, I don't think I have been the most out-of-line participant in proceedings.
I would like you to remediate this situation, and here is how I would like you to do it.
Restore Jason's original post. There was no reason to censor it.
Restore grazan's all-caps post. It was doing no harm.
Restore my second post (not the one laughing at Jason's joke, the longer one I discuss above). Again, useful and accurate information was removed from this post, and there was simply no reason to have had done so.
You can leave my last comment redacted. Fair enough. Whilst I stand by what I said, it is unhelpful in the context of the thread.
I also want the moderator to be censured, and I would like them to apologise for their behaviour, by posting on that thread explaining that they understand their behaviour was inappropriate and unacceptable.
If they are a community volunteer, they should be dismissed from their position. They are clearly not capable of fulfilling this role in a professional, well-balanced manner.
If they are an Adobe staff person, then the censure will have to be sufficient, although I think they should be relieved from their duties as a forum moderator, as they are not up to the task at hand.
Talk to your other moderators and advise them they need to act with a sense of balance and professionalism when moderating the forums.
In return, I will continue my participation on the forums, and continue to help the ColdFusion community members where I can, in the spirit of goodwill and co-operation. I will also try to convince Jason to do the same.
If you cannot see right to resolve this situation appropriate, I will surrender my membership of the forums and cease helping your community.
You can reply to me either via a comment against this post, or via email ([email protected]). That said, see the caveats in my communications policy: I reserve the right to publish any communications on this topic as I see fit (within the bounds of common sense).
    Thanks for your time.

    Adam,
    Comments from a kindred spirit...
I suggest you take a breather and go do something else for a few days or weeks.  Don't stomp your feet and say "I'm done for good, I won't be back", because like it or not, some of the reason you're here is to benefit YOU, and if you do go cold turkey you'll miss that benefit.
In other words, "never say never".
Like you, I have been extremely frustrated by the running of the forum from time to time as well.  Sometimes it's the quality of the forum software, sometimes it's the mix of other immature people who comment, sometimes it's just me.  Usually it's not the moderation or actual running of the forum, but I do understand where you're coming from.
I have benefited greatly on several occasions just by taking a vacation from forum participation.
We all have to understand two things:
    1.  We're able to communicate here by the good graces of Adobe, who are first and foremost a business, trying to achieve their business goals.  They'd rather not upset all the idiots, because unfortunately idiots have money to spend too.
    2.  Nobody's perfect.
I'm not sure about the specifics, but the moderators are generally also volunteers.  See item 2 above.
Hope you don't choose to stop contributing to the community, as no matter what, your contribution is good for the world.

I have just upgraded from Lightroom 5 standalone to Lightroom 6 standalone. I appear to have been automatically enrolled for a 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. Reading the FAQ, it appears that after the expiry of the free trial, if I do not sign up and pay, I will only be able to view my pictures on the desktop but not edit them - surely this cannot be true. How do I un-enroll for the 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and CC?

When I was signed into Adobe (which was a requirement for installing the upgrade), Lightroom 6 told my at the top right corner that I had 30 days left of my free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. In parallel with this forum posting, I am chatting with Adobe support. he is away to find out how to prevent any synching with Creative Cloud during the 30 day free trial. I do not think that Creative Cloud is an application that gets installed on your PC. I think Lightroom 6 has it built in, and can use it if if you are signed up to the Creative Cloud and Lightroom Mobile (which I am for 30 days)
