Adobe Community Pages not acting right
For the past few weeks I've noticed that the Adobe Community Pages (at least Captivate's) is acting hnky. I'll be logged in to Adobe and go to the online forums and need to sign in again. Then I sign in go to the Captivate community and ask a question or try and read some questions and the page will close and go back to the page where you select a community to visit. This is very frustraing.
I don't understand why I have to sign in a second time and why does it keep flipping back?
For everyone's information: The forum software (Jive) was recently updated to the latest version because the old version was about to go belly-up and NOT be supported by Jive. Adobe hadn't updated the forum software in a long time. The fact that no major updates had been done in so long and the additional fact that a lot of customizations had also made the old version now somewhat incompatible with the latest version of the forum software have contributed to a number of "teething problems" especially around the issue of logging in.
As far as I can tell (from watching the moderator forums) Captivate's forum is not the only one still havng some issues. Most of the remaining login issues seem to be related to browser settings and conflicts with browser cookies. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you delete your browser cookies and see if that helps. If it doesn't, log an issue with Adobe.

You can rename (or delete) '''cookies.sqlite''' (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete '''cookies.sqlite-journal''' and '''cookies.txt''', if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Pages not loading right and OSCP error
I'm having two probably related issues. The first is that Firefox is loading certain pages weirdly- for instance addons.mozilla.org while in other browsers they load perfectly fine. The second is that certain pages won't load at all such as https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/storage/public-staging/3682/add_to_search_bar-2.2-fx.xpi which gives me this strange error
"Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to addons.cdn.mozilla.net. The OCSP response is not yet valid (contains a date in the future). (Error code: sec_error_ocsp_future_response)

Again I do not have this problem with other browsers- unless you count waterfox which has these same problems which is probably expected since it's built off of firefox. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and clearing cache and cookies, none of this has had any effect. Both these problems began around the same time.I seem to get the problem loading error on all links with xpis, or at least all I've seen, for instance I had to input the troubleshooting info manually because when I clicked on the link to automatically add it got the same error (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/426841/addon-426841-latest.xpi) But it doesn't only happen on links containing .xml files for instance I first noticed the problem visiting a site similar to newsle, i wish I could figure out the name or still had my history so I could find it. I am not sure if the problem is confined to https or not because at the time I had the addon https only and did not test it after the reinstall. I looked in the validation settings and the first one "Use the OSCP to confirm the validity of the certificates" But the second one "when oscp server fails treat the certificate as invalid was unchecked. I unchecked the first box and I still get the same error which really baffles me.

Plugin Check page not working right; after updating, plugin still shows "update"
I noticed after running "find updates" that the Acrobat Reader
plugin needed to updated, so I installed the 9.4.1 update, (from
9.4.0). Afterwords, I rebooted the machine. I launched firefox and
tried to verify all plugins were "update to date" but the same acrobat
reader plugin is still showing as "update" (i.e., firefox thinks it's out
of date).
about:plugins shows the installed version as 9.4.1.222
Moreover, multiple machines show this issue, not just one.There's a couple of things to try, since this is an old system.
1 -- disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player, if enabled.
a) Go to this page -- http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l
b) Right click the Global Privacy Settings panel "box".
c) Scroll down the drop down list and left-click on "Settings."
d) If you see a check in the small box next to "...hardware acceleration," click on it to remove it.
e) Save your setting change, close out your browser, open it again, and try watching a video to see if it stutters.
2 -- disable hardware acceleration in Firefox, if enabled. (This may or may not impact your ability to watch Flash videos, but it has caused a number of issues with older systems.
a) Click on your Firefox TOOLS menu
b) Click on OPTIONS
c) When the small screen pops up, click on the ADVANCED tab
d) If there's a check in the box next to "use hardware acceleration when available," click on it to remove the check
e) Click the OK button. Close out Firefox, and reopen it.

I purchased Pages as an online download after my 30-day trial expired. I DO have Pages now on my computer, but every time I try to print or save I get a message that says I can't do that until I purchase Pages because I have an expired trial copy. What did I do wrong and how can I fix this? Thanks for any help.
It's a bit of a mess, this trial copy business. You must erase all traces of the app, which gets your computer to be unaware that you ever had a trial copy, then load the new purchased copy. Yvan has written a script for this and it is reported to work quite well. This will have no effect on any documents you may have composed – they will not be deleted and will await the return of the app.
Search for "Trial" with "Yvan" as the specific person associated with the post.

My photoshop is now not acting right. Can I uninstall then reinstall it?
I updated my photoshop and now it freezes when I try to do several things. One is to convert to black and white in application. If it's not freezing, it's cropping the far right side of the photo off. Can I uninstall then reinstall the program?

Help!. Pages not Publishing right.
I cannot figure this out to save my life. I cannot create a link that works from one page to the next. I mean the link works but you don't see anything. The page comes up black. On the Highlight page you can hear the film playing in the back but can't see anything.
I tried changing the Photoshop made pages from PNG files to Jpeg Files. Didn't work. I tried re-publishing everything. Didn't work. I tried re-creating the entire site. Didn't work. I tried saving the PNG files interlaced then not. Didn't work. I can't figure this out and it is starting to bug me. I want to get this new site up and going. Take a look at it and help if you can. I download the whole lenght of photoshop 10 then states that the page is unavailable try...back latter again.

Newbie-help with transitions--ripple dissolve not acting right
I'm a FCP newbie and having a problem with ripple dissolve.
This is what I did: in the TL put clip 1 followed by clip 2. Took the video of clip two and dragged it above clip 1 at the point I want the transition to start. Click on the in point (where the transition is supposed to start.) Select "Ripple Dissolve." Render. And voila, the ripple dissolve looks like a cross dissolve. I experimented with selecting the transition and trading it for a number of other transitions and all of the other transitions work but every time I try Ripple, I get a cross vs the look of a ripple dissolve.
What am I doing wrong?

When you hold the option Key you can select the audio seperate from the video and then put it on two other audio tracks. Then you can OPTION drag the beginning or ending of the audio to the position you want.
2) in another instance, the ripple dissolve works fine, but near the beginning of clip 2, the video fades almost to black, then comes back up again to full color (this is underneath the ripple dissolve)--almost as if there's a crossfade mixed into the ripple dissolve. When I take the transition off altogether, there is no crossfade whatsoever. Any suggestions on how to eliminate this crossfade?
I guess what's happening is that you still don't get the idea of handles completely. Clip 1 needs extra length after the cut (handle). Clip 2 needs extra length BEFORE the cut. (handle)

Well if you have powered it up, it is too late for the rice now. The damage is done.
About your only alternative now is to take it back to Apple for a replacement. Since that is classified as damage you will have to pay for the replacement.

Basically certain web pages are not loading proper since app Iolo System Mechanic failed. I have reinstalled FF but still not loading right. Buttons are not showing and some pages are in a list instead of the GUI view.
I installed and uninstalled Firefox several times - finaly after I selected NOT to have Firefox as the default browser, the installation worked and pages loads correctly now! I made Firefox the default browser after the successful installation!
