Adobe Connect on PPC-based Macs?

Hi there,
Adobe Connect 9 needs at least FlashPlayer 10.3. But this version doesn't seem to work on PPC-based Macs.
But i cannot  find a proof. Is there a way to take part via an (non-intel) PPC-based Macs?
Thank you in advance.
Michael.

You can find the past releases of Flash Player here:

FP 10.1 is the last version that I see supporting PowerPC Macs, but I could be wrong.

  • Are Intel based Macs more prone to Viruses than PPC based Macs?

I do not now, nor have I ever run A-V software. Nor have I ever had an issue with any kind of viruses, malware, spyware etc. However, I read an article in our local newspaper recently that even Macs, particularly Intel based Macs, are vulnerable to viruses. So, as a newcomer to the world of Intel Macs, the question suddenly takes on new significance and urgency. I do plan to run Windows on my MBP (as soon as I get the computer and set it up), and will likely use an emulator like VirtualBox. I have run VPC on my Pismo for years, and viruses have never been an issue, albeit I used Windows only for short periods at a time. So, is this a legitimate concern? What specific measures do I need to take, if it is, indeed, a concern?

As TD states, your Windows installation running as a virtual machine is as vulnerable as any Windows PC. If you won't be accessing email, and limit your web browsing, you'll be somewhat safer - but, I'd definitely recommend running AV software even so. There is quite a bit of malware/spyware that will install itself upon visiting some websites, and it can be easier than you think to run into one of those sites (for example, accidentally leaving out a 'p' when typing apple.com into a browser address bar redirects you to another site - 2sale.com; that one seems innocuous, but that's not always the case).
Note that VMware comes with a free 12-month subscription to McAfee VirusScan® Plus, so for the time being there's no need to purchase additional AV software, just make sure you keep McAfee running and up to date.
On the up side, if your virtual machine does become infected, the problems will remain confined to the virtual machine. Should you need to, you can roll back to a previous snapshot, or, if you set it up as a virtual disk virtual machine (i.e. VWware is not accessing a Boot Camp partition, but rather the virtual machine is stored as a file in the Mac OS), then the virtual machine is backed up along with your other files as part of your routine backup strategy.

  • Internet Sharing for PPC and Intel based Macs

I have OSX 10.4 Server running with NAT and DHCP enabled. The internet is accessed through a wired connection, and 2 Powerbooks(PPC based) and an Intel iMac and MacBook connected to the server via Airport. The wireless signal is WEP protected, and the Intel based Macs can connect to the wireless network, recieve a good IP address and access the internet. These two connected computers can be seen on the Server Admin DHCP Clients tab.
My problem is with the PPC based Mac, the 2 PowerBooks. Those computers can connect to the wirless network, but they get an invalid IP address. Not only is the IP invalid, so is the Subnet Mask.
All computers are running 10.4.7, and all installed from the Combo Updater.
    Any suggestions?

We're having the same problem here!
Rarely we manage to get the right IP address assigned to one PPC machine by playing with various network settings but we didn't found a reliable way to get the PPC machines always working.
This is really strange... any suggestion is appreciated.

  • Is it possible to install an app intended for PPC on an intel-based mac?

I have a "Websters" disk that works on Windows and PPC-based Macs.
I was wondering if I could install it on my Intel-based Mac? Is it possible?

  • Are there any known problems with Macs and the mp3 playback in Adobe Connect ?

One user using an Apple Mac has complained of not being able to hear the mp3 sound playback in a meeting.
Is this a problem with Apple Mac and mp3 compatibility or is it an individual soundcard issue ?

I use several Macs with Adobe Connect and I have even created MP3 files for playback in the room. Works fine on all my macs. It's basic Flash. Suggest they clear their browser cache, replace their host-add-in if using one. Run the audio wizard as well to make sure sound is working in Connect.
All of the Adobe Connect Government engineers use Macs all the time so we've never had an issue with MP3's.

  • Connect 9.0.3 Mac Add-in

Is the Adobe Connect 9.0.3 Mac Add-in compatible with Retina Macbook Pro, i.e. does it enable interaction with the flash player dialog related to webcam and adio permissions?

I am currently using a 3 year old MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8. My institution 'Charles Sturt University (Australia)' uses Adobe Connect 9. I am not sure what version add-in I am using, but the Adobe Connect digest.s file makes reference to Adobe Connect Addin 9.4.95.010U.
I do not have any problems with the Adobe Connect add-in at the moment, but would like to update this laptop to a new Retina Macbook Pro OS 10.8.3.
But I wanted to check compatibility with Adobe Connect and found the following reference to Retina display and problems with flash dialogs - http://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/kb/unable-click-flash-player-dialog.html
Is this likely to cause problems with the current Adobe Connect addin?

  • Adobe connect screen share shows blank screen

    Hello,

Not having the Screen Share icon sounds like they were a the Participant level of permissions in the room, and needed to be promoted up to Presenter or Host to be able to share their screen.
Here is a screen shot, with the Participant on the left and a Host/Presenter on the right:

  • Adobe Connect version

I have Adobe Presenter 7 and it comes with Adobe Connect.  I am given the choice between Adobe Connect V8.1.2 or higher OR V8.1.1 or lower.  If we have a mix of Adobe Connect products, it would be hard to deploy over the network.  I know you can download a seperate version of Adobe Presenter 7 that does not come with Adobe Connect.  However, this is the version I have been given.
How old is Adobe Connect v8.1.1 and lower?  Which of the other Adobe products also come loaded with Connect?  Thanks.

Adobe Presenter is desktop software, meaning that it is installed locally on your computer. It is a plug in to PowerPoint and can be accessed as a new menu option there. This is the software that is tied to MS Office. If you have Office 2010, you need to install 7.0.7. Also, make sure you don't have the 64 bit version of PPT 10, if you have Office 10.
Adobe Connect is server based software that is used to deliver synchronous (live meetings) content and asynchronous (on-demand) content. Adobe Presenter presentations can be uploaded to an Adobe Connect server and delivered via the web.
The version of Presenter that you will want to install relates to two things:
If you have an Adobe Connect account, version 8.1.2 and higher use meeting rooms that run in ActionScript 3 (AS3) and only Presenter 7.0.7 outputs to AS3. So if you are using an older version of presenter, the content may not display properly in the live meeting rooms. If you are using Connect 8.1.1 or older, then you will want to use Presenter 7.0.6 (a few updates from 7.0.0) as it is the latest version to publish to ActionScript 2 (AS2).
If you are not using Connect for the delivery of your presentations, I would just go with 7.0.7 as it is the latest version and will receive future updates and bug fixes.
You can learn more at the product pages for each tool:

  • No CPU temperature sensor on Intel based Mac mini?

Does new Intel based Mac mini has no CPU temperature sensor like the first, PPC based, Mac mini?
If I'm wrong what universal utility should I use to monitor the CPU temperature of my brand new Intel CoreDuo Mac mini?

Every time a new model Mac comes out, the temperature monitoring utilities have to be updated. Obviously, the insides of the Intel Mac mini is different from the PowerPC Mac mini. The folks who write those kinds of tools can't see into the future and write a utility that will work on computers that haven't been released yet. Just give them a little while to catch up!

  • Intel based Mac can't see airport exteme

My new intel based mac and airport had been working fine. Then last week it lost communication with base station. Now it will work using only Apple default setup and my Mac cannot configure base station through base station utility. It does not see the base station. I can connect to it only through the defaut Apple network, I have no control over naming, security, signal or any other options available through the setup assistant.
What gives? How do I gain control of this device again?
    Intel I-Mac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Try Connecting the Intel based MAC hardwired directly to the base sation, then disconnect it and returnt he base station to the way you had it and see if the Intle Based MAC then sees the base station.
    Just a guess.

I have a PPC based software ... Is it possible to run it in intel based?? I have a iMAC OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Thanks

    Their answer was this ...
The version for GNX4 MACOSX is only for PPC based Mac. There is no Intel version as the product was discontinued before Intel based MAC came out.
I guess I should give up, hehehe...

Your MacBook Air is an Intel-based system. To download the current version (11.2.202.228),  go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download it from there.
If there is still a Flash issue, you can try the Google Chrome browser, which has the current Flash built into it, to see if it works any differently with the videos. It's available from https://www.google.com/chrome

  • Problem opening Form based PDF via Safari browser with Adobe Reader 9.3 on MAC

    Hi,
I'm mentioning below the problem that we are facing when we open a form based PDF created using a licensed version of Adobe Livecycle Designer ES (Version 8.2.1.4029.1.523496) on a MAC machine through a Safari Browser.
We tested this PDF form on a windows machine and the PDF opens in an IE browser via the latest Adobe reader 9.3 without any problem. I then received complaints by our clients that they were unable to open the same PDF on their Safari browser on a MAC machine, I tried to resolve the problem by downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader 9.3 for MAC but noticed that the Safari browser window would just keep refreshing the page without displaying the PDF at all. I then uninstalled the Adobe Reader 9.3 version and downloaded and installed an older version i.e., Abobe Reader 8.2 version for MAC and noticed that the PDF document successfully opened in the Safari browser. My question is why does a form based PDF work with an older version of Adobe Reader for MAC and not with the latest version? Our clients are not comfortable with the fact that we are refraining them from upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Reader for MAC and that they would have to downgrade their existing Adobe Reader 9.3 to a lower version Adobe Reader 8.2 in order for the PDF forms to work when it should be the other way around.
Is there any fix or a patch that is currently being worked on that would resolve this issue in the latest Adobe Reader for MAC? If yes then when would it be ready? This issue is quite critical for our business and would appreciate it if this would be looked into with high priority.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sheikh Huraiz Ahmed.

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
    very, very disappointing and frustrating.

  • Adobe connect add in not showing up in Privacy Settings Mac OS X Yosemite

When I try to share a screen, I am told to click the ENABLE button. I'm taken to System Preferences where I navigate to the Privacy Settings, Accessibility, and I'm instructed to enable adobeconnectaddin.  The problem is, adobeconnectaddin is not showing up in this window. I see Skype, which is not enabled, and that's all I see.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
