Adobe Connect version

I have Adobe Presenter 7 and it comes with Adobe Connect.  I am given the choice between Adobe Connect V8.1.2 or higher OR V8.1.1 or lower.  If we have a mix of Adobe Connect products, it would be hard to deploy over the network.  I know you can download a seperate version of Adobe Presenter 7 that does not come with Adobe Connect.  However, this is the version I have been given.
How old is Adobe Connect v8.1.1 and lower?  Which of the other Adobe products also come loaded with Connect?  Thanks.

Adobe Presenter is desktop software, meaning that it is installed locally on your computer. It is a plug in to PowerPoint and can be accessed as a new menu option there. This is the software that is tied to MS Office. If you have Office 2010, you need to install 7.0.7. Also, make sure you don't have the 64 bit version of PPT 10, if you have Office 10.
Adobe Connect is server based software that is used to deliver synchronous (live meetings) content and asynchronous (on-demand) content. Adobe Presenter presentations can be uploaded to an Adobe Connect server and delivered via the web.
The version of Presenter that you will want to install relates to two things:
If you have an Adobe Connect account, version 8.1.2 and higher use meeting rooms that run in ActionScript 3 (AS3) and only Presenter 7.0.7 outputs to AS3. So if you are using an older version of presenter, the content may not display properly in the live meeting rooms. If you are using Connect 8.1.1 or older, then you will want to use Presenter 7.0.6 (a few updates from 7.0.0) as it is the latest version to publish to ActionScript 2 (AS2).
If you are not using Connect for the delivery of your presentations, I would just go with 7.0.7 as it is the latest version and will receive future updates and bug fixes.

  • Can I install Adobe Connect version 8 on a virtual server?

Hi everyone.  We are looking to upgrade our version of Adobe Connect and to put it on a virtual server.  Our current enviornment Adobe Connect v8 on a physical server.
    Is this possible?
    Is it supported?
Has anyone done this and has experienced no problems?
    thank you in advance everyone.
    scott

    Hey Scott,
Many customers today run Adobe Connect 8 virtually on WinSrv 2008 64-bit.  First make sure you read the page link below that details our tech specifications and that your server is compliant.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/adobeconnect/tech-specs.html
Also, you will want to discuss where your DB will reside (on that same virtual or a separate one).  The biggest improvement you will see is with performance.  The speed of the server alone is enough to upgrade.  Microsoft definitely made some improvements there...
I am assuming you know all the usual WinSrv settings such as Domain, etc...so will not discuss those here..
    Regards,

  • Adobe Connect 6 question

I am using Adobe Connect version 6 and I was wondering if there was a way to setup something where a user could create users and assign them to take various tests in Connect without making them an administrator directly.
Can I setup a group like that or not?
    From Matt

Creating users is an Admin function.
You could use the Event Module, if you have it, as it also creates users. You could then assign a person in Connect as an Event Manager and Training Manager, and they could then create courses and curriculum. Then tie an event to their training content and pass the URL for enrollment to the desired individuals.
Other than that, I don't believe there is any other way. Connect 7.5 or 8 (my brain is fuzzy as to which version specifically) introduced Limited Admins as a group, which could have reduced admin rights. You could allow only user creation and then add that individual to that group, but that would require a few upgrades to your deployment.

  • How can I capture a video that is on Adobe Connect 6?

I have some old training (a vide) that I need to capture and re upload to a new server.  Our new server is like the lateast and greatest by the old server was Adobe Connect Version 6.
I remember doing this one using like a zippy share thingie.  Where you send the video to a url and it captures it for you so I can upload it to the new server.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hmm, not a very helpful message it is?
It may very well be that the formatting of the source files changed between now and Connect 6 so the current server doesn't recognize the contents. I would say you have two reasonable solutions.
If the old server is going to remain online, just provide the link to the recording from the old server and deal with any tracking/reporting there.
Use a screen capture application (Camtasia or something similar) and make a video of the recording. Then place the video (MP4 or FLV) on the new Connect server.

If you are producing software how do you detect the Firefox version and show whether or not it is compatible ? You may be interested in http://hacks.mozilla.org/2012/01/firefox-goes-2-digit-time-to-check-your-ua-sniffing-scripts/
If you are, or your clients are in a corporate environment there is a possibility that Firefox ESR will be in use.

My understanding is that ESR has been brought out primarily to deal with this sort of problem ensuring software may be certified in an enterprise, and does not change as often (so it will remain as Firefox 10 with point releases for a while).

Anyone have a clue how I can open or convert the Adobe Connect FLV file?

I'm searching for an answer to almost the same exact problem, using almost the same exact hardware and software. Has an answer been found?
The files that I'm trying to burn come from eMusic, and they are formatted mp3. Recently, (after the iTunes update to 9.2.3?,) they would not drag and drop from iTunes into Toast. From several different discussions I've tried working around this by dragging to the desktop first then dragging and dropping to Toast, going to Toast from a programmer's homemade help window, " iToons," and today, after talking with Apple support, going directly to Toast from my eMusic folder. Alas, all recordings do not perform like they use to. Sometimes they play and sometimes not. There is one I managed, that is listenable, but sometimes I have to put it in my car stereo over and over again as it gets ejected with an error code, sometimes, finally it takes it... Some of the recordings on other disks I've burned are not clean - they have white-noise sounds creeping in... I use to have none of these problems. One time as I was listening to a CD that managed to play, and it just stopped playing... Is there an answer out there to get back to how it use to be? Thanks for you help.

  • Working with .swf files in Adobe Connect

My goal is to load custom made flash (.swf) presentations into Adobe Connect and present them to an audience (not using presenter)- however I am encountering the following issues:
    1. The sound within the .swfs will not play (sounds works fine everywhere else, and was tested via the Audio setup wizard).
    2. Many of the features within the loaded .swf do not work - sometimes causing runtime errors - does certain as3 code not work in the Adobe Connect environment?
    3. "Synchronized Navigation" in the Shared Pod option menu is grayed out - I can not synchronize flash content? How can I control the presentation?
Thank you in advance for any guidance you can offer.

Connect is an AS2 applicaton, and therefore, AS3 SWFs will not work (or not work properly).
If you want to correctly build an application to work in a Connect pod you need to follow the rules in the Collaboration builder, SDK documentation. This has not changed since Connect 6, thus the older version refference.

  • Adobe Connecting Recordings, audio out of sync or missing

Over 30% of our recordings have issues.  Either the audio/video/power points are out of sync and/or the audio will be missing and the video is frozen.  With the upgrade to Ver8 our live events are 95% successful, we don't see audio/video issues during the live meetings only when we view the recordings.  The other thing that is strange is sometimes we will view a recording the day after a meeting and it is fine.  But then after some about of time we will get notified from our customers that the recording is messed up and when we go to view it sure enough it's messed up.  It's as if something on the Adobe servers has corrupted the recordings.
I have opened a handful of support cases on the recording issue but have yet to get a resolution from Adobe.  The basic process is that after weeks or days they give us a "fixed" recording.  Some are truely fixed but others still have too many problems to use for our customers and so we are stuck with having to redo meetings to record them again.
We are using a 12 MB dedicated wired Internet connection.  Only running Adobe Connect on the host computer, nothing else.
What can we do or Adobe do to increase the success of our Adobe Connect Recordings?  What can be done to prevent the recordings from being corrrupted on the Adobe servers?

It appears that our hosted server has not been upgraded yet.  Here is the output when I request the version information.

  • Adobe connect asking for flash v10.3 or higher but I have v11.4 installed????

I never had this problem before, but recently upgraded my flash and yesterday (Sept. 5) while testing a connection to a meeting room received this message:
Adobe connect requires flash v10.3 or higher
and provided a button to download the latest version, which I did, and downloaded v. 11.4. tried the link to the meeting room a second time and again was told to install flash v10.3 or higher.
So I UN-INSTALLED flash player altogether, got cclean and cleaned up my registry files and downloaded flash player again (v11.4, again) and I still get this message telling me I need 10.3 or higher.
Should I un-install v11.4 and install an older (but higher than v10.3) version????
Please help - I provide technical support and registration assistance and if I can't solve this issue it's going to cause me a lot of problems in terms of providing proper support to my clients.

    Hello,
I would like to strongly recommend that you update your version of Flash Player to our currently released version (17.0.0.169) and enable auto updates.  The version you are using is insecure and opening your computer (and all of your data) to being easily exploited by bad guys.
As for the error you are receiving, this is most likely a restriction from the website.  Each developer is able to specify what the required minimum version of Flash and require their users to have at least that version installed.  The detection that is occuring and the message that you are seeing on the website isn't part of Flash Player, but instead part of the website's code.
If you go to this page and click the "Check Now" button, what is displayed (OS, browser and version number)?  Do you see the "tree" animation playing below?

  • Adobe Connect Add-in Error 9.1 r314

I have been getting an error while trying to save recordings offline.  When the Adobe Connect add-in starts, I get the option to save and then then it crashes.  Listed below are the step I have taken to resolve the issue
    1. Uninstall the Add-in
    2. Delete all folders pertaining to the add-in (macromedia.com folder and #sharedObjects)
    3. Uninstalled flash.
    4. Run "Flash Cleaner" from Adobe
    5. Installed Flash then the Add-In
After this, I still received the same error.  I have tried this about 3 times with no luck. Any help on this would be great. Below are the details that result from the crash.  This is a vista machine.  Error is not profile specific as I have created another profile and attempted to save the recording and received the error.

    Issue
    While trying to make a recording offline you run into an error message;
Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in 9.3  r52 has encountered a problem and needs to close
(Add in WIN 9,3,34,0/ WIN 9.3.32,0)Add-in will crash when user make the recording offline in Meeting.
    Reason
There seems to be a bug in the 9.3.32.0 Add-in causing it to crash.  This will be fixed shortly.  Only current work around is to install an older Connect Add-In (9.1.299)
    1) Uninstall current Connect Add-in from Add/Remove Programs
    2) Install this add-in from here;
    ftp://breezeext:[email protected]/patches/Addin9.1.299.zip
    Solution
Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the current Connect Add-in.  Once completed you need to download Connect Add-in Version 9.1.299
