Adobe Content Viewer crashes with particular layout

Hello all,
I have two layouts I've added to a folio, the first is a smooth-scrolling layout and the second is a snap-to-page layout. It works perfectly until I add the horizontal layouts of the second set.
What I found most unusual is that everything works fine viewed vertically, but crashes on trying to view the horizontal layouts ( horizontal layouts uploaded by other team members in the same folio work fine somehow ). It works fine horizontally until I add the second set of layouts. The crashes happen only on the iPad, and works fine viewed on Content Viewer from the desktop. It's not just me either, other members are also having crash issues with my layouts..
The horizontal layout is identical to the vertical layouts, and I'm not getting any sort of error messages, so I can't tell what's causing the folio to crash. What's going on?

My folio still does not work. I've isolated the problem to one particular layout. When this article is in landscape layout, it causes the Content Viewer to crash. I have no MSO with the same name, and I've checked all the interactive objects and overlays to see what's causing this problem. It worked perfectly before the update to the new Content Viewer and before I updated the tools. The article also works fine in portrait view, and it has the exact same objects and interactivity. This is extremely frustrating, and I could be looking for hours to find what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adobe Content Viewer Crashing

Is anyone else having a problem with the newest version of Adobe Content Viewer crashing constantly? It crashes all the time for me. Sometimes after I download a folio update and go to view the folio, sometimes when I tap to download the upadte for a folio. I try restarting the app, I try restarting my ipad, nothing seems to make it crash less often. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if you've found a solution?
    Thanks!

Hi Klaasjan, this is really helpful information, since we have actually the problem that the reader is crashing a lot. Not really surprising since we use a MSO (57 states) in a scrollable area, exactly what you wrote to avoid.
But one question remains, which effects our testing. You said that the articles shouldn't be arranged next to each other, does that mean that the viewer is loading the previous and next article into the memory to speed up the loading time when the user jumps to the next article? Because that would effect our testing, since we have all different versions to test the crashing in one dedicated folio in a row, so we would need to insert a dummy page between all variations, or to you have more specific info on that?
    Thanks, Norbert

  • Downloading froze and Adobe Content Viewer crashed.

I tried downloading folio data with content viewer on iPad.
(InDesign Plugin: V18, Content Viewer V2.3)
But the downloading froze and the content viewer crashed very often.
I checked the folio data on DPS Dashboard and I think the folio data is OK.
And the status of Acrobut.com is "The service is available. No issues repoeted." on Acrobat.com Health.
    What's going on?

Which verison Mac OS are you using? What is the verison of InDesign is being used ? Have you donwloaded all the most recent updates to Folio Producer Tools, Folio Builder, and have the new Viewer Builder since this Monday-Jan 30?

  • Adobe Content Viewer Crashes

Hi, I have a problem with abode content viewer on my ipad and my iphone. It crashes constantly eventhough the folio size is very small.
The folio includes 26 articles. They all have a splash page as the first page which is a simple graphic designed in Indesign.
21 of the ariticles have 18 pages each including 2 web content frame that collect the data from the host.
Overall, the folio act like a directory with many categories. So even there is no big image file in the folio itself and all the images are called from the host when you open the page.
But when is switch between pages it chrashes most of the time on my ipad 1, some times on my ipad 2 and some times on my iphone.
Do the web contents make this issue?

My folio still does not work. I've isolated the problem to one particular layout. When this article is in landscape layout, it causes the Content Viewer to crash. • Update Install Paused - and when resumed Adobe Content Viewer Crashes

    Hello,
I am trying to update a file through the Digital Publishing Suite, however it seems suck on an 'Update Install Paused' phase.
The only button that I can press is RESUME, and when I do the application crashes. There is no Archive button for the particular
document I am trying to update.
I tried unsharing/unplublishing and deleting it from the Publishing Suite deck. And loaded a new one. But it doesn't dissapear
from ACV, nor does it get updated with the new file.
    HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks,
    Adriana

I'm having the same problem. I read on a thread from Adobe Staff, Bob Bringhurst that it's a known bug. He recommends "archiving" the download items and trying again. My problem is I can't get the archive button, only resume downloading. Like you, it crashes when you try to "resume". It's so frustrating.

  • Adobe Content Viewer Crashing in Ipad 1

    Hello
We've created a publication which is working good on iPad 2 but I am having many crashes on iPad 1. There is no HTML code, but there are many animation and interactivity. Is there anyone else that has this experience between iPad 1 and 2?
    Thanks
    Eddie

Yes, this is quite common. This is memory issue - iPad 1 have 256 MB of memory, iPad 2 512 MB. We saw this with big pan&zoom images, for example.

  • Adobe Content Viewer 2.3.0 Crashing alot

Has anyone experienced the Adobe Content Viewer (v2.3.0) crashing on the iPad more than usual? The App seems to crash almost every time I update and download a new folio or existing folio.
It would be good to hear from anyone else experiencing these problems.
    Shane

Really nothing in that thread is helpful for this update crash issue.  It's got nothing to do with image sizes or whatever - at least from what I've seen in my testing to narrow down the problem.  I've tested a 1 page folio with nothing but a single word of text and it still crashes the app upon updating.  The problem purely involves new folios created after the recent updates.  When I update any of my older folios, they never crash.
Would sure love an update *pun intended* from Bob B on this issue.

  • Adobe Content Viewer keeps crashing

    Hi everyone.
I'm building my first publication and I'm having some trouble.
I have an article with a infographic of aprox. 5500px in height. It has some logos on it and I did some pop-ups with object state to explain the logos. The pop-ups just contain some text, the logo image and some of them have links. There's also a button to close it.
After 8 pop-ups (I need 12) the iPad can't handle and the Content Viewer crashes. I restarded the iPad, removed the folio and downloaded again, unninstalled the Content Viewer, downloaded again. Still crashing.
The I went back to Indesign. First I just pasted the infographic from Ilustrator to Indesign. Then I exported as a image (PNG and JPEG). Didn't work. Then I cut in several images with 750px in height and 1020px in width. Still nothing.
If there's less than 8 pop-ups, it works. But there's another article with regular size (1024x768) that has a image with 10 pop-ups and it's working fine. And I did in the same way I did with the infographic.
So it's a combination of pop-ups and big images that's making the Content Viewer crash.
My options now are linking the contents of the pop-ups to an article and then linking them back (using navto://) or change the infographic to a regular article and the user can go sliding down from area to area.
Before I do any of these, do you have any ideas?
    Thank you in advance.

For me it`s the DPS that isn`t utilizing the hardware right. There`s some - or what seems to be - heavy games running on iPad without a problem. When I put some images with less than 600kb in total with some other objects, the viewer crashes. It`s a little frustrating.
    Anyway, thanks for your awser.

  • Adobe Publishing Suite update v24 is not compatible with current Adobe Content Viewer

  • Viewing Folios with DPS Folio Producer and Adobe Content Viewer on IPad?

What is the path to viewing a folio, on an IPad, that has been published with the DPS Folio Producer.
Opening Adobe Content Viewer on IPad has no obvious path to the folio in the Producer.
There is no obvious path to the library in Adobe Content Viewer, either?
Logged in both with Adobe I.D.
    Using ID CS6 on Windows.
Also as a Creative Cloud single member what is the process of being able to publish unlimited apps to the IPad.
Thank you in advance for your response.
    James Goins

Unfortunately, if you're on Windows you have no process to publish an
    app. You need a Mac.
I wish Adobe would allow Creative Cloud members to use the same process
that Pro and Enterprise subscribers have by exporting a zip file. You
still need a Mac but you can pretty much use any Mac you have access to.
With Creative Cloud to publish a Single Edition app, you must have
InDesign installed on a Mac and you generate the app by choosing create
app from the folio builder panel menu.
All that said, if you create a folio while signed into the folio builder
panel, that folio should show up in Adobe Content Viewer as long as
    you're properly signed into it.

  • Adobe Content Viewer with multiple Adobe-IDs

    Hi guys,
i am having a problem with the Adobe Content Viewer.
Because we work on several projects for different customers we have different Adobe-IDs for each of them.
So I used to sign-in and sign-out in the Content Viewer to download the different folios. It used to work this way. Once downloaded I could open every folio, independently from the according Adobe-ID.
Since - I think - the last Update of the Viewer, folios are going to be deleted, if I log out. There is no thumbnail of the folios any more: only the ones belonging to the Adobe-ID, which I am currently singed-in with.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a work around
    Greetings
    Michaela

Do the ones already downloaded vanish? Or the ones that are on the server?

I heard that there was a problem with Authentification failed messages with Adobe Content Viewer this morning with a server issue but I am running into those issues tonight. System Staus reads green. All my log-in info works in other places. What's up?

Currently all the DPS services are up and running.

I have downloaded and istalled Adobe Content Viewer to my iPad. When I try to sign in with my Adobe ID, I keep getting Authentication Failure, what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you have any examples of system extensions or accessibility features that might be the culprit?  I have actually never heard of those terms before.
