Adobe CS and VDI Terminal server

Hi.
we are implementing VDI with MS Terminal server on Citrix XenDesktop.
what about installing and using Adobe CS6 on Terminal server? what about licencing?

Sabian is correct about the hives. Use HKCU per the instructions. However, I'd start with more recent info provided for Citrix before using the referenced kb: Citrix Deployments — Enterprise Administration Guide.

  • Install Adobe Photoshop Elements on Terminal Server

    Hi, if i want to install Adobe Photoshop Elements on a Terminal Server so 5 people can use it at the same time, what kind of licence do i need?
    Thanks

    I dont think this workflow is suppoted.
    You will have to install PSE on all the 5 machines and buy a Volume Licensing serial number for using same serial number on all the machines.

  • Adobe PDF Documents - Windows Terminal Server, tips ?

    Hi,
    I am looking for some tips.
    We provide managed hosted servers for medium sized companies and for years have been using Adobe for the creation, manipulation and viewing of PDF's
    However since all these servers are running Terminal Services we find that the display and scroll speed of any document that we edit with Adobe to be very is slow.
    We can understand why this occurs, due to the fact that unlike other documents the background of the document scrolls / moves like it would for an other image but not all PDF products suffer so badly
    I have reduced the default resolution of any created pdf's and this has made a significant improvement but this does not solve the problem of documents created else where.
    I have tried some other pdf products and they don't seem to suffer as badly as Adobe does in this department. We don't want to stop using Adobe so hopefully I can get some tips to improve this situation.

    Bill,
    Thank you for your response.
    Firstly, it does of course raise a flag of concern for users running a full copy of Adobe on their Terminal Servers. I would have thought that as long as they had sufficient licenses for all users i.e. 50 Adobe user licenses for 50 Terminal Server users they would be above board, but I will check up on this for them and if this is the case well that answers my question perfectly, they will have to change products.
    I also understand that there are many other converters around, we have tried several but would prefer to stay with Adobe. We don't like to support multiple products and have been supporting Adobe now for probably over a decade.
    Lastly the problem is not only for Acrobat Professional but also even just for the Reader. You see when you display an Adobe "Document" it is actually and image and therefore scroll speeds on a Terminal Server are agonisingly slow due to the "white" background of the document. Other products as we both have mentioned seem to have gotten "around" this some how and I am not quite sure how.
    I really don't expect to find a solution to this problem, I thought I would bring it up on the forums in case I have missed something before we have to move to a different PDF document application.

  • Adobe is not printing - Terminal Server Windows 2012

    Hello and thank you for reading this.
    We recently upgrade our server infrastructure  to Windows 2012 R2. When a user logging to a server (Terminal Server 1 let's say) sometimes they cannot print from Adobe. If they can login to another Server, let's say Terminal Server 2 they are just fine.
    The issue is the following:   They click on Print >  Select Printer >  Hit "Print"  and nothing happens.   When Adobe Reader is working, after clicking on "Print" you clearly see a progress bar until it reaches 100 %.
    Troubleshooting:  We have updated the drivers to the latest versions , re-install Adobe Reader but nothing seems to help.  This is very annoying as the user needs to login to a different server in order to print from Adobe disconnecting the whole session.
    Also, a different user with same permissions can login to the server having issues and print fine from Adobe.
    If you can guide us in the right direction to finally resolve this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Additional Notes: All printers are in a printer server environment.  Users are able to print everything else except PDF Files using Adobe Reader.  When installing another PDF Reader software they are able to print fine.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Are you still facing this issue. What is the current version of Reader installed.
    Provide me more information about, how are user profiles are setup.

  • Adobe X install in Terminal Server environment

    In relation to this link: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/slow-display-performance-terminal-server.html
    I need to know if these registry keys are different for Adobe X – Also need to know if they should be applied to HKLM instead of HKCU so the policy applies to all users on the box and if it requires a reboot.
    deactivate "2D Graphic acceleration" HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVDisplay - bUse2DGPUf=dword:0
    deactivate “Smooth images" HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals - bAntialiasImages=dword:0
    deactivate “Smooth line art" HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals - bAntialiasGraphics=dword:0
    set "Smooth Text" to None (optional: some customers have reported acceptable performance without setting Smooth Text to None)
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals - bAntialiasText=dword:0
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals - iAntialiasThreshold=dword:0
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals - benableDDR=dword:0

  • Running adobe acrobat on a terminal server & licensing purchase

    Is it possible to run both the standard and professional versions of adobe acrobat (1 license of each) on a terminal server? Each version would be security locked down to the specific licensed user.
    Also
    If you purchase adobe acrobat through licensing is it possible to purchase just one license or is there a minimum number of licenses that you can purchase? Is the better option for one license to purchase the boxed retail product?

    You have a better chance to get a helpful reply if you ask in the Acrobat forum, or even at http://forums.adobe.com/community/licensing

  • Adobe Professional license in Terminal Server Farm

    When deploying Acrobat Standard X for 1 user on a terminal server, everything works fine. But this terminal server is one of 4 servers in a farm.
    The 3th Terminal server tells me i cand activate the licence because it's already activated on the others.
    You i need to purchase 4 licenses for just 1 user?
    Nicolien

    Hi Nicolien,
    It looks as though you have purchased a Retail single user license, thus the limit of 2 product activations, which is intended for users to be able to install their licnese on a primary computer and a potential backup or mobile (laptop) computer. Before installing an Acrobat license in a terminal server environment, you may wish to read this FAQ: http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/volumelicensing/pdfs/acrobat_on_a_server_policy_doc.pdf

    Hi there.
    If by "i need to do a Unix login" you mean "I have to create an account
    on the underlying Unix/Linux OS as to 'couple' an SGD-EE user with a
    Unix/Linux user", then this is one the the "Login Authorities" enabled
    by default in SGD-EE.
    Good news is that you can use plenty of em, such as the RAS/SecurID,
    LDAP, Active Directory, NT Domains and possibly others.
    Let's start by paying the following URL a visit:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-4309-10/en-us/base/standard/login_authorities.html
    It's related to SGD EE 4.2 but the same principles do apply to older
    versions of the software as well.

  • Terminal server with license server move to another domain (disjoin and rejoin a domain)

    I've to migrate an a terminal server windows 2008R2 with is licence server, installed on the same machine,  from a domain let's call DOMAINA to a new domain DOMAINB, what will happen to TS licence server, i've to reinstall and authorise again and add
    again licence or it will bring all licence with hm?
    Ts licensing server and the terminal server are on the some machine. (it's offer service to only 5 users)
    Thanks
    Luigi

    Hi Luigi,
    You should be fine moving from one domain to another.  Regardless I recommend you gather the original licensing paperwork, authorization number, license number, agreement number, emails, etc., as appropriate for the type of licensing program you purchased
    them through.  If for whatever reason you need to reinstall the RDS CALs you will be fine if you have the license documentation.
    After moving the server you should test by connecting to the server via Remote Desktop and then verify that there are no warnings/errors related to licensing in the server's log.  You may also want to create a RDS Per User CAL Usage report in RD Licensing
    Manager, export it to .csv, and then examine it in Notepad.  You should see in the file where the server has issued licenses to users in the new domain.

  • Terminal server application and contextless login

    Hi,
    Using zen6.5sp2 here
    terminal server application, to a win2k3 with client 4.91sp2 (french +
    patch kit c for test)
    the credentials are passed correctly from the client to the server, and
    the "single-sign-on" works ok only if I specify the context into the client.
    I can't get the LDAP contextlogin login to work, neither the old
    LgnCLW32.dll
    If I do a local authentification, or throught mstsc as usual, it works
    it's only via the zenworks apps.
    The client 4.91sp1 or sp2 (don't remember) had a bug that it wasn't able
    to pass credentials at all, and that's not what I'm looking for...
    Any clue ?
    Marc

    I beleive this is true, but I'm talking about Novell login... What the
    SAM has todo with this ???
    I do not bother avec Windows login, I have ZEnworks that creates an
    account for me...
    Steps to replicate the problem:
    1) create user1 under context1 into edir
    2) create user2 under context2 into edir
    3) create zen dlu policies, for loging into a regular winxp, and win2003
    terminal server
    4) install novell client (configure the location profile with the
    treename, and the CONTEXT of CONTEXT1 & configure ldap contextless
    login) & zfd on the TS
    5) at this point, if anyone uses mstsc.exe to connect to the TS server,
    he should be able to login to the TS, with a DLU, and get a desktop
    6) create a TS application into ZENworks, which points to the TS, and
    start any app (notepad.exe)
    7) login into a winxp workstation, with user1, start NAl, click the app,
    it should so an "SSO" login to the TS, and start notepad without asking
    a password
    8) login will FAIL with user2, because he's under context2, and zen
    doesn't try todo contextless login
    Yeah, I can create alias, but to me, it's not elegant... and a waste of time
    Yeah, I can use IDM to create another tree, sync all my accounts into 1
    context...
    Yeah, I can live with that for the rest of my users under context2....
    Marc, just trying to help...

  • Group Policy design for Terminal Server

    Hi, I am mixed about group policy design for Terminal server
    My Infrastructure is so;
    Zone
          ->Department
                       ->User
                       ->Computers
          ->Department
                       ->User
                       ->Computers
          ->Department
                       ->User
                       ->Computers
    Server
           ->OtherServer
            ->TerminalServer (TerminalComputersGPO)
    I create two group policy for user and for terminal server computers (security filtered for Terminal_Users)
    I want to use terminal server user policy but it must effect
    just in terminal computers. not TS user's computers. what i must do? where i must locate it?
    Please click "Vote As Helpful" if it is helpful for you and "Propose as Answer"

    Hi Davut EREN - TAT,
    According to your description, you would like
    terminal server user policy applying to users which log on to terminal computers. Right?
    As MuhammadUmar's suggestion, you can use Loopback in replace mode. The GPO list for the user is replaced in its entirety by the GPO list that is already obtained for the computer at computer startup.
    In the real work environment Loopback processing of Group Policy is usually used on Terminal Servers. For example we have users with enabled folder redirection settings, but we do not want these folder redirection to work when the users log on to the
    Terminal Server, in this case we enable Loopback processing of Group s Computer account and do not enable the folder redirection settings.
    For more information about this policy, please refer to the following articles:
    Loopback processing with merge or replace
