Adobe CS1 and Leopard?

I've heard that Adobe CS1 will not work under Leopard. Is this true? I'm getting Leopard in the mail today, and if I can't install it until I upgrade to CS3, I'm gonna cry! LOL

Hi there,
I have been using InDesign CS and CS2 with no problems so far. Certainly no more crashes than under Tiger. Performance has been a little sluggish at times but that could have coincided with a TM backup.

  • Adobe CS1 and Rosetta

I'm going to buy an iMac Intel Core Duo and I was wondering if Adobe Creative Suite 1 will run correctly under Rosetta? Can anybody help me?
    Thanks
    PS: Sorry for my English...

Not sure about how Adobe CS1 runs on iMAc Intel Duo Pro, but as for Adobe CS2...it runs slowly! I use Adobe CS2 all the time for work and ersonal and it runs slow on the new iMacs. My 3 year old Pwbk Ti runs Adobe faster.
Other issues, Adobe Version Cue doesn't run at all on the new iMac. InDesign CS2 has freaking problems when you enter sizes....for ex. 8.5" might read 8.490000087500032. It's wierd!
So, to answer your questions, not sure about how CS1 will run, but CS2 is annoyingly slow with some glitches.

  • CS1 and Leopard

    Hi there.
I upgraded to Leopard and now CS1 will boot but as soon as it is up I get the beachball and it quits. Any ideas please.
    Tony.

    Greetings,
CS1/2/3 will work on Leopard, they do on my machines, but you may need to reload it (CS1) from scratch. Several people in my users group had to do that. I didn't, but I might have just gotten lucky. My other machines have CS3 and they work well, too.
Repair permissions before you do an update/upgrade or install a large package/suite of programs - it's always a best practice.
    Good Luck.
    Cheers,

  • Adobe Lightroom and Leopard

I have just tried my first attempt at importing images into Adobe Lightroom off my USB connected Compact Flash reader.
I am getting errors of Not all images could be imported.
    Anyone else having issues?
I will keep testing and post any more I find.

To reply back to the original Topic, yes I am still having this issue. Just went out and shot a High School football game. Thought maybe Compact Flash may be corrupt so, used another card tonight and got the same issue.
Some of the images get imported and then i get an odd error. I will try and get the exact text soon.
Hopefully someone from adobe is monitoring all this.
    Peace.

  • Adobe CS1 and OS 10.6?

Buying a new laptop and have old software. Will the original CS work well on OS 10. 6 or should I look for a machine with 10.5?

It will not work well on 10.6, but IIRC it won't run very well under 10.5 either.

  • Leopard and Adobe CS1 on my iMac G4

    Hi everyone,
I currently own a iMac G4 flat panel, 1.25GHz, 1GB ram. I'd like to upgrade my current OS (Panther) to Leopard.
My problem is I own retail copies of Adobe CS1 (I'm an illustrator) and currently can't afford to upgrade to CS3.
Will Adobe CS1 and Studio 8 run on Leopard? Are there any users here currently running these apps on a smiliar spec machine with Leopard?
How should install Leopard if I purchase it, should I do a clean install or just an upgrade?
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    hi p_d
CS1 is "working" under Leopard but is no longer support by Adobe. This application have not been optimized for Leopard and may be buggy. But I have been able to install and work with CS1 on Leopard as many others.
Beside, you should consider to add more RAM if you can afford. If you are doing graphic design, you will find you computer much much faster with even just 512Mo more or ideally 1Go more. I know that the old RAM required on G4 is a lot costly than actual RAM. But still, Leopard will use most of your RAM not leaving much for your applications.

    Hi,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open CS2.

  • Adobe CS2 in Leopard

When opening the installer, no destination disk appears.
I know many users work with CS2 in Leopard without a glitch.
    Any idea ?

I'm using Adobe Photohsop CS1 and it is working. There are a couple of little glitches, but nothing major. And whenever there is a major system upgrade you can ALWAYS figure there are some things that are going to break, which is why it is a good plan to install a new system on a new drive or second partition. AFAIK the things that don't work and will never work are Photoshop 7 and Elements 2.

  • Using Adobe Bridge and iPhoto together

I use Adobe Bridge (and Photoshop) to work on my photos. iPhoto is not an option since I shoot in Camera RAW. I also own an Apple TV and want to store all of my photos in iPhoto so they are available to the rest of my family via Apple TV. Has anyone figured out a way to do image manipulation first in Bridge & Photoshop and then have them sent (or later updated) in iPhoto in an automated fashion?
Conceptually, every time I add or change a photo in Bridge or Photoshop, I'd like to convert it to JPG, and add or modify the image in iPhoto.

Also make sure PS's File handing preferences "Macimize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" is set to Always and that there are no alpha channels in the file. An alpha channel will cause the black image that you're referring to.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to make previous version documents(CS1 and CS3) without extension  readable in InDesign CS5

I have some previous version documents of CS1 and CS3  on Mac  which have been saved without any extension e.g 300, CS3doc etc.
When I open such documents in InDesign CS5 they appear to be unreadable .  Only on  selecting 'All documents' filter  I am able to open those documents.
I want to make all such documents (which are without extension) readable with 'All Readable Documents ' also .
How I can do that, please  help me !!!!!

The first thing I'd do is make sure the issue is really what I suspect it is - i.e. I suspect your extension-less documents don't have the proper type and creator.
If you fire up a Terminal window, you should be able to use the GetFileInfo command to check one of the files:
Assume 'sampleFile' is sitting on your desktop, you'd do
    GetFileInfo ~/Desktop/sampleFile
(not sure when/whether GetFileInfo is installed on a Mac - I think it used to be part of Apple's developer tools, but on my Snow Leopard it resides in /usr/bin)
Check what it says for 'type' and 'creator'.
If these are not correct, we've confirmed that that's the reason why they don't show up in your file dialog.
If the issue is type/creator related, I can think of the following options:
    a) Change your code to accept ANY file type/extension - I suspect this would work (not tested!):
    openFileDialog->AddType( '????' );
If memory serves right, '????' should be accepted as a wildcard.
    b) correct the file types BEFORE they are viewed in the File Dialog - for example, if these files are in a very specific folder somewhere, you might be able to scan the folder, and correct their type and creator (e.g. iterate through all extensionless files in folder 'xyz' and change their type and creator). A lot depends on how those files get there, and whether they are tied to a specific folder or not - are they 'old' files, or are they being generated in some workflow? If they're all over a user's system or all over a file server, such pre-scanning and cleaning up file types approach will be a no-go.
    Cheers,
    Kris

  • Adobe Reader and Photoshop extensions default to preview in Mountain Lion.

  • Droplet Script used to work fine in Tiger and Leopard, now doesn't

    Hey everyone,
I'd like to apologize in advance, I'm not really good with AppleScript and was only able to create my droplet in the first place by changing little bits of a Droplet example script I found on the internet (I forgot where I found it, but it might even have been here at Apple).
The script worked perfectly fine in Tiger and Leopard but throws an error in Snow Leopard. The error says "Can't make alias "...filepath... "into type file."
The problem is that I can't find the problem in my script. I don't get any indication which line it may be and I hope someone here will be able to help me.
I also tried Script Debugger, but the script works there! So that doesn't help either...
I'd appreciate any help, here is the script:

The command open doesn't return anything that could be assigned to the variable this_image.

*set this_info to the info for this_file*
*set the item_info to info for this_item*
    I hope this help.

I am conviced that there really isn't any solution to this problem and that it is clearly something that is going on between Apple and Adobe!

...and I've never heard of that issue before. You should be thinking "how do I troubleshoot and fix this on My Computer?"
Try generic troubleshooting - repair the hard drive:
