  • 2007 iMac, upgraded to Mavericks, second monitor now intermittently blinking

2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB Ram. ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics.
Upgraded from Snow Leopard here at work, running dual monitors via DVI cable. Never a problem previously.
Upgraded to Mavericks. Enjoying it. Until the 2nd monitor (Acer v223w) started intermittently blinking.
Kinda befuddled. Can't find any answers. Any help?

Same issue here and its really killing me.
When I disconnect the second monitor from the iMac and plug it back in, the blinking stops for a little while. But then it starts up again.
It seems to blink more when I'm using Chrome (latest version 30.x) with multiple browser windows accross both displays.
    iMac 20-inch Early 2008
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
    Mavericks 10.9
Second monitor HP w2207 connected with DVI cable and adapter.
Under Mission Control system preferences, I have Displays have separate Spaces unchecked, disabling the new Multiple Displays Mavericks feature.
    Hope that hleps.

  • Buying old Adobe CS2 software - upgrade?

Hello, I recently purchased a copy of Adobe Creative Suite Premium 2 off of ebay. Auction went through fine and I received the software and the serial number - which i promtly went to the Adobe site, signed and registered under my name. Got a confirmation email from adobe "Thank you for purchasing and registering your copy of Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium,,," etc.
Am I good to go with legally downloading / using the CS2 software off Adobe's site?
Also what versions of later CS can CS2 be upgraded to?
    Thanks for your help!

As far as downloading/using CS2, see the following posting for a link to information:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5612435#5612435
CS2 premium is too old to upgrade to any of the latest CS suite versions.

  • 2 iMacs upgraded to Mavericks, neither one is completing Time Machine backups. Never had this problem in previous OS versions. Reformated disc. Reinstalled as TM destination. Backup begins and then stops early in process.

I have two iMacs that I've upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.1.
Both started out OK but no longer allow Time Machine to complete backups.
The one I'm on now, older 24", has a fresh 500GB external HD for TM, reformated correctly.
    Says backup size 147GB.
Get about 120 plus Mb into backup and stops.
No error messages, just stops and stays at the place where it stops.
    Says calculating time remaining.
Left it on all day while away from my desk and returned home 10 hours later and still frozen at that state.
Newer iMac 27" fully loaded, 2TB HD as TM disc, same problem.
Backed up OK for the first few days, now frozen, with over 3/4 of the HD still available.
Reformat, reselect the TM disc, still will not complete a full backup.
Should I reinstall Mountain Lion until they get Mavericks working properly?
Are others experiencing the same problem?
    Whassup?

Yes Eric.  That is where the info came from.  Since 9.2TB is impossible it must be due to how Time Machine handles the files in backups.backupdb.  I have since done new Time Machine backups to the reformatted drive and I was hoping to copy at least few of the old backup files to the drive in the same file with the new ones but when I do that I get an error message that says backup files cannot be modified.  It's very frustrating because I saved the old backups.backupdb to the desktop but it doesn't seem like I can do anything with it.

  • Issue printing with Adobe CC after upgrading to Mavericks

After installing OS X Mavericks, when I try printing via Adobe Indesign CC or Adobe Acrobat Pro it seems to shrink the page I am printing.  When I print via Preview if I export as a PDF it prints just fine.  I've checked for Adobe updates, driver updates, etc.  Any help would be appreciated!

Update: I can see that Windows act as it is two displays but the 2nd display is in nowhere and I cannot see it. I mean the window can go out of my normal display (i.e. my laptop) but not to the other monitor. That's why I have to disconnect the 2nd monitor and only use laptop display.

  • IPad syncing after upgrade to Mavericks

I have acquired a new iPad Mini (Non-Retina) and need to sync with my 21-in. iMac running OS 10.6.8 (SnowCat). I have also been considering upgrading the iMac to Mavericks. I have read somewhere that the Mini will not sync properly with an iMac upgraded to Mavericks. Can anyone confirm this?

The sync is a partial one (my best description). If you want everything to be synced, use iCloud.
I do back up my iPad to my computer...although you can also do that with iCloud.

  • Adobe Flash won't work on my iMac!  Help!  It did before I upgraded to Mavericks!

Adobe Flash won't work on my iMac. It did before I upgraded to Mavericks.  What can I do?  I've already gone through the help system, chat system.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. In rare cases, you might have to log out or reboot to force a Flash update to be recognized. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    Step 1
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 2
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 5
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 6
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    Step 7
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Intel iMac and Adobe CS2

    Greetings!
I recently purchased Adobe CS2 as well as Macromedia stuido 8. I was planning to upgrade to a new 20" intel iMac and I am curious about the performance of these products under rosetta. Anyone suggestions or additional info? Thanks
    -Sam

I've been using a 20" Intel 2 GHz iMac with 1 GB RAM now for just over a month and use Adobe CS2 on it and I'm incredibly disappointed with the performance of the software under Rosetta. So much so that I regret buying the Intel version and wish I'd bought a good old G5 processor model.
The main issue is speed. I upgraded from a Dual 866 mHz G4 and am encountering slower performance with CS2 on my new iMac than I did on that. Illustrator is especially excruciating to use. Another issue is that I can only run two CS2 apps at the same time never three. If I try, one of them randomly crashes. Reinstalls haven't cured it either.
I've called both Adobe and Apple in order to resolve the problem and neither have a solution. Adobe's view on it is that CS2 and earlier were not written to work on the Intel machine and so they cannot address any support problems with patches or updates. Their only solution is waiting until CS3 is released in Autumn which will be Intel compatible.
Based on this experience my advice would be to wait until CS3 is released before you buy one. Otherwise just grin and bear it if you have to have one now!

  • PLEASE HELP! Will Adobe CS2 run on a G4 iMac?

I currently own two HP Media Centers that are less than a year old; they both have AMD Athlon X2 Processors and 2 GB of RAM. Neither of them can handle Adobe CS2. I have been on with HP tech support for 5 days straight, trying to get this issue resolved. Only to find out that there are compatibility issues between Adobe CS2 and Windows XP. I need a computer that will run Adobe CS2. I want to purchase a used Mac that will be able to handle it, since they are the industry standard for graphic design. Will a 17" Flat Panel iMac with 1 GHz G4 Processor and 512 MB - 1 GB of RAM be able to handle the programs? Please help. I work from home and need to get a new computer ASAP to be able to get work done for my clients.
Flat Panel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

It sounds like you have already purchased the Adobe Suite. That being the case, and since you are looking at a laptop, you have a couple of choices.
First, look for a refurbished Powerbook G4 on Apple's store website. I have purchased computers from ebay, but you really take a chance doing that, especially if you don't know what specific questions to ask the sellers... The Powerbook G4 will run the Adobe CS2 faster than the MacBooks at this time because of the Rosetta issue (emulation issue--the intel processor cannot read the "old" PowerPC code without translation and that takes some time).
Second, go ahead and get your MacBook and live with the slightly reduced performance of your Adobe CS2. It will still run much faster than what it does on your current G3. Then, wait for Adobe to join the Universal band wagon and upgrade (Adobe's upgrade pricing is generally very reasonable). At that time, you will be in a position to take full advantage of the speed of your new MacBook or MacBook Pro.
If it were me, I'd go for the MacBook Pro and deal with the reduced performance for now.
    Good luck with your decision.

  • Can I revert back after upgrading to Mavericks operating system? Can't get my Adobe software to run properly.

Can I revert back to a previous operating system after upgrading to Mavericks? Since installing Mavericks I can't get my Adobe software to run properly.

Thanks, for your replies. I've got a late 2012 iMac (2.7 GHz Intel Core i5). I was previously running Snow Leopard - Not sure exactly what version but it was right up to date.
The Adobe software I'm using is the Creative Cloud. Specifically InDesign cc. Whenever I try to browse folders through the InDesign software the browser window closes before I can do what I need to do. So I cant place images into my InDesign document or save documents properly.
On the Adobe website it says that they worked with apple to fix any bugs before the Mavericks release but there's lots of complaints on the forums. I've left a bug notification with Adobe but I don't expect that they will be offering any solutions or software updates any time soon.
I really just want to revert back without too much trouble.

  • Why does the airplay icon not appear after upgrading to Mavericks on my iMac.

I am using an Apple TV, iPad 2, and an iMac with wifi sharing enabled.  Before upgrading to mavericks I was easily able to use airplay to mirror the display of my ipad2 to a projector.  After the upgrade the airplay icon will dispear.  When I restart the wifi sharing on my imac then the airplay icon will reappear on my ipad.
Does anyone have a fix for this.  I use this in my classroom and this problem made yesterdays lesson almost undoable because students were givng presentations and each time a student wanted to project thier ipad screen I had to reset my wifi.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see Sony camcorder in iMovie anymore. It still works on MacBook, so nothing wrong with camera or connections.

After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see my Sony camcorder anymore. I tried the new iMovie as well as the old version 9.0.9, which is still in Applications. I checked the camcorder and connections in iMovie on my MacBook (not upgraded) and that still functions properly, so the problem does not seem to be in iMovie, old or new, or in camcorder and connection.
Anybody with the same problem or a solution?
    Thanks mbkom

  • We run an iMac 3.4 GHz I7 for our church worship service; we haven't upgraded to Mavericks because we heard about issues with multiple screens crashing.  Has this issue been resolved?  Thank you!

We run an iMac 3.4 GHz I7 in our church worship service; we have front screens and a stage display monitor ; we haven't upgraded to Mavericks because we heard about issues with multiple screens crashing.  Has this issue been resolved?  Now that we are 2 upgrades behind, I'm getting little concerned.  Thank you!

Oh, well that was a whole other kettle of fish:
Oh the G4 I attempted to install iLife '08 before Lepoard was available. About the only thing that installed cleanly was iPhoto. I ended up reinstalling everything back to iLife '06, and then upgrading back to the current stable version of the iLife '06 version. I didn't attempt a reinstall until after I upgraded to Leopard.
When I did reinstall, I made a iLife '06 folder, copied all iLife apps into it, and upgraded. Seemed to work, except for the part where iMovie gets left behind and iDVD is only mostly functional.
When I installed on the other 2 machines, it was after installing Leopard and all upgrades. On those 2 machines, I didn't bother with the copy, I just moved everything to the iLife '06 folder I created, and did a fresh install.
I didn't have to do anything with the iPhoto Libraries, that I can recall.
I always do an upgrade, never an archive and install. I've never had a problem with this back to 10.1 or 10.2.

Intel iMac; upgraded adobe flash; bluetooth keyboard no longer pairs but magic mouse still OK. With Bluetooth switched on the screen splits into 4 areas and open windows seperate and shrink. Switch off Bluetooth and problem disappears and iMac works OK with plug-in keyboard and mouse

    Hi, Derek -
...the screen splits into 4 areas and open windows seperate and shrink.
Sounds like Spaces is being activated somehow. With the wired keyboard and mouse in use, select the Exposé & Spaces control pane in System Preferences, click the choice in that pane for Spaces. See what the settings are. There are some activation settings in that pane - by default, F8 activates it.
It could be that the bluetooth keyboard has some stuck keys and is activating Spaces; or that the activation command has somehow been reset to something that the bluetooth mouse, or bluetooth itself, is triggering.
