Adobe CS2 Install... STRANGE

Ok,
FYI, I installed Leopard on a separate disk and went to install CS2 (we don't own CS3 yet and I enjoy living dangerously)
So.. I go to install and the Adobe CS2 installer says that the only thing it will install is: Version Cue, and tells me the other apps are installed. This isn't so...
So finally I get the great idea, to eject my internal 10.4 hard drive, and see if the software will install. It does,
So if you try to install CS2 on a system that has more than one hard drive, and one of the other hard drives has CS2 on it, the system will think the software is installed.

I didn't have any previous version installed, my macbook is brand new. My problem is perfectly explained here and I did what it says to solve it..but I just can't.

I've created the "ScriptingAdditions" folder and nothing. I've found (on the web) the "Adobe Unit Types" file and copied it into that folder and nothing happend.
Do anyone knows what's going on?? Thanks

  • OSX 10.4.6 / Adobe CS2  Install conflict?

I'm trying to install Adobe CS2 Premium. I've installed from this disk set on a number of G5's in our office successfully in the past. However, this was prior to OSX 10.4.6
I've attempted this install on 3 computers in my office. All PowerMac G5's running 10.4.6.
This CS2 installer runs fine without any errors. All of the programs startup fine with the exception of Illustrator. On closer inspection the Illustrator CS2 folder is missing a bunch of files. Only the first 3 files/folders are there.
    - Activation_ReadMe.htm
    - Adobe Illustrator CS2
    - Cool Extras
    These are all missing:
    - Demonstrator
    - Fonts
    - Illustrator Read Me.pdf
    - install.log
    - Legal
    - Plug-ins
    - Presets
    - Scripting
    - Utilities
When I called support we went through the process of installing it in safe mode, throwing away all the font lists. In the end we were never able to get it to install properly.
Then he recommended that I try to make disk images of the install disks and try to install from there. Now when I get to Install Disk #3 I get an I/O error and the disk image cannot be completed.
The tech then recommended that I get a new disk set. I've done that and the same thing is happening w/ the new disk set. On two of the computers I was able to copy the missing folders from one of the machines that have been properly installed and this has worked fine.
I would like to know if this is a known issue w/ OSX 10.4.6?

    Hi King of Pop!
I have installed the CS suite at least 20 times on 10.4.6 and it runs the applications fine. The only issue I had was with IDCS2 and the SING gaiji system and that was a permissions thing to a system resource - not the same thing you have.
I would take the Ilustrator CS2 app and trash it, reinstall it from the CD's. Be sure to empty the trash.

  • Adobe CS2 uninstall (as administrator, no antivirus) fails on Windows with "Missing or Invalid Personalization Information", "Missing resources library"

My previously fully functional Adobe CS2 install on Windows 7 x64 stopped working when the activation service for CS2 was shut down.
I tried to follow the re-installation instructions at the following web page which first require a complete uninstall of Adobe CS2:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l
Running as a local administrator in elevated mode and without a running antivirus (in fact, with an uninstalled antivirus), I get the following error message and the uninstaller refuses to run:
The installer could not start because of the following reasons:
    Missing or Invalid Personalization Information
    Missing resources library
I searched the forums and found matching threads such as these:

    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1547148
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/986439
but they seem to suggest insufficient privileges or an interfering antivirus.
I opened a chat support case (case number: 0214720731) responded to by @Arunkumar who sent me back to the forums.  When I said similar queries had not been resolved for months, he promised to escalate to his "senior product expert" team to post a solution.  I am posting this message in the hope they will respond with useful suggestions as I do not want to do a complete Windows re-install of an otherwise perfectly functional computer just because the Adobe uninstaller doesn't work.

You have insufficient privileges to access the registry or your virus scanner is blocking it. Nothing Adobe can fix for you, you need to find the culprit on your system and/ or fix the registry permissions as explained here:

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 Install

I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS2, I know it is an old version, but I am unable to upgrade at this time.  However, I have the full version of Adobe Photoshop CS2, and when I run the install it states that it is looking for a previous version of Photoshop.  I have verified that this is not an upgrade only cd.  Please advise.

Thanks for trying to help out guys but after hours of toying with this thing it finally hit me like a brick wall.  I found a work around.
For anyone that may run into this issue in the future:
When you run the Adobe Photoshop CS2 install and it will not let you install due to looking for previous versions
Install Adoby Photoshop CS2 as the 30 day trial, which will install without any issues.
After the installation is completed then ender the serial number manually after that.
Not sure why it has to be a PITA about it, but it works.

  • Unable to install Adobe CS2 Premium on Windows OS 7. How do I fix this ?

I am unable to install Adobe CS2 Premium on Windows OS 7. My discs require activation but do install to the OS. The non-activation version recommended gives the error message that" this version is not compatible wih OS" and will not install.
    Thanks, Liz

    Hi Issieoo,
Though you may install Cs2 on Windows but you may face performace issue. Please find the System Requirement for installing for one of the CS2 product: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-photoshop.html . However I would recommend you to purchase the new CC realease with more enhanced functionalities and features.

Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.

  • Problems Installing Adobe CS2 software

    Hi,
I purchased my iMac aswell as Adobe CS2 software back in September. I started installing the CS2 software (4 discs) and by the last disc, installation froze and the drive sounded like it was in a continuous search on the disc. So I had to reboot and eject the disc. This continued for 2 more tries. I contacted Adobe and they said it was a disc problem, so I exchanged my CS2 for another CS2 disc set. I completely erased the previous CS2 applications, reinstalled OSX and tried again. This time it was the 2nd of 4 discs that just got skipped over - nothing even installed from that disc - the computer just spat it out and said: "disc 2 complete, please insert disc 3..."
Anyone think I have drive or hardware issues???

    Hi Bushfire.
I had a very similar problem when I installed CS 1 under OS X 10.3 on an iBook. In that case it turned out that the version of Stuffit Expander supplied with the OS was too old. (The stuffit engine is, I believe used to unpack some or all of the goodies from the installer). After upgrading Stuffit Expander to - I think to version 7 at the time - the install went perfectly.
OS X 10.4 doesn't have any version of stuffit expander included with it at all. Have a look on versiontracker.com to download if you haven't allready got it. Could be worth a try.
I have subsequently installed CS 2 on my iMac G5, and everything went OK -so it CAN work.
Good luck - and let me know if it works.

  • I'm installing Adobe CS2 as a download.  After the first 'disk' is installed, the Installer asks for 'CD 2' to be loaded.  How do I get around this?  No CD; only 'disk' files downloaded.

I need advise on installing Adobe CS2 as a download.  The Installer is looking for CD 2 but I don't have a CD.  It's a file downloaded and saved to Programs on my hard drive.  Adobe CS2 is no longer supported by Adobe Support.  Someone out there must have run across this problem before.  Help, please.

all the extracted files should be placed in the same directory.  by default they fail to extract in the same directory so you will need to manually move them.

    Hi,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open CS2.

  • No apps launch on new CS2 install

    Hi all,
Hopefully I'll provide enough information. I recently installed CS2 to a new MacBook Pro 15". The MBPro was running CS without a problem and I was asked to upgrade to CS2 by a client.
On running the install for CS2 the installer fails the installation of SVG viewer 3.0 but otherwise runs without error. Once the installer is finished I attempted to run Photoshop CS2 and got the following error:
    =======================================================
The Application Adobe Photoshop CS2 quit unexpectedly.

    Ingnore Report... Relaunch
    =======================================================
All CS2 applications give the same error on launch.
I have manually deleted all applications including my previous CS installation and all files listed in the Knowledge base article on troubleshooting installation problems and tried the install again. I have also attempted to download SVG viewer 3.0 from the adobe site and received an unknown installation error.
I ran disk permissions repair and disk repair with no change in status, the same error happens every time any CS2 app is launched including "Adobe Help Center"
My computer is a MacBookPro 15" OS X 10.5.6 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo with 2 GB of RAM.

All this advice is very strange because while I appreciate that technology moves on, unfortunately at the current time I can not upgrade to CS4 or CS3. Also regardless of what you are saying my copy of CS (mostly Photoshop CS) worked flawlessly for the past six months until I tried to install CS2 yesterday.
Why CS2 would not be supported while CS works flawlessly I have no idea, and I also have no idea why now, after a restoration to my files and operating system from a time machine backup from before the CS2 install I can no longer launch my Photoshop CS and am getting an error of "Could not complete your request because certain required files were not found in the Adobe Photoshop CS Required folder."
Adobe's lack of support on this matter is both frustrating and infuriating as it means a $1000 plus purchase is not supported little more than two years after the purchase unless I want to spend another $800.
Their advice that I come get answers from the user community has resulted in this thread which so far has only told me that what I was doing was impossible and that what I want to do is not possible and I should spend more money.

  • Using Adobe CS2 on New Pro Book, Illustrator crashes consistently

I just got my MacBook Pro (3G RAM, 150G HD, External 120G HD, wireless mighty mouse, OSX 10.4.8) Installed Adobe CS2 Premium Edition.
Illustrator crashes every single time I use the Pathfinder tool (any filter).
Checked with Adobe, they say it is a problem between Illustrator and OSX 10.4.8 and I need to install 10.4.7, which they say will solve the problem.
How do I get a copy of 10.4.7 to fix this issue.
I will not go into how irritated I am that Adobe has not created an update to fix these incompatabilities or the fact that both Adobe and Apple know these problems exist yet do not mention it before you spend 3 grand on hardware or 1 grand on software. If an auto manufacturer did that they would be sued immediately. But since it is not my life, just my business that is in danger, who cares...
    I know I said I wouldn't go there, but I am steamed!

    Greetings,
We just received 12 MacPros that shipped with 10.4.8,
so taking them back to 10.4.7 is not a realistic fix for this 10.4.8 bug.
We did do all other suggestions we could find short of that, on Adobe support, and in these forums: update to Illustrator CS2 12.0.1, toss all the legal HTML files that had bad fonts, close the Appearance
palet then close Illustrator, toss the Illustrator plist file, repair permissions,
but only got marginal results. In files that have complex paths or raster files embedded, or are large dimensionally,
using the Pathfinder tools still crashes Illustrator.
Anyone have any new suggestions that could help us?? We use Illustrator quite a bit, particularly in signage, and this is almost a show stopper for even bothering to set these Macs up! Anyone gone back to CS on a MacPro?
I have sent a note to Apple Feedback requesting a fix.. 10.4.9??
