Adobe CS3 both on MAC & PC

Ok, so if i have Adobe CS3 on a PC, and decided to buy a macbook and to put Adobe CS3 on the mac as well, (by purchasing the mac version ofcourse), will the file types be able to interact? if i save a premiere file, will it work/open on the Windows PC?

Formats like DVCPRO HD and XDCAM HD are ingested in their native file containers. They are not Quicktime or AVI, and they should work perfectly across platforms. I have not tried HDV on the Windows side, is it AVI or an MPEG transport stream?

  • Why can't I upload Adobe CS3 on another Mac with the same operating system 10.5.8?

I purchased a MacBook Pro in 2008 and had it installed with Adobe CS3 at the Apple Store. I don't believe I was given any CDs or serial numbers to take home. I still have all the documentation for my other programs I installed myself, like Logic, Final Cut, etc. and those installed fine on my new Mac desktop computer, with the same operating system (10.5.8) as my MacBook. For whatever reason, I don't have the documenation for CS3, but I was able to download a serial number finder and locate the serial number for my version of CS3. But when I enter that serial number into the new computer, Adobe says the serial number is invalid. I thought standard licenses allowed for 2 computers (home/work) per serial number. This is the first computer I've tried to install CS3 on so it seems I should have no problem. Any help here? I'm on a ticking clock because my MacBook could crash any day and I need to get the programs switched over to my new computer. I appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Gerald

  • System Requirements Error For Adobe CS3 Installation On Mac OS X?

When I try to install Adobe CS3 Design Premium on my iMac (Intel Based) I get an error message while clicking on the setup icon. This is the message:
    "System Requirements Error
This software cannot be installed because the file
system of the OS volume is not supported."
I checked the Adobe website and my computer meets all the requirements and I have the most update version of Mac Os X.
What do I need to do to get CS3 to work?

    Case sensitive is not supported.

  • Is Adobe CS3 compatible with Mac OS X v.10.7?

I am thinking of purchasing a DTP program but don't need the $699 CS5 version. So will CS3 work with my Mac, running on OS X v.10.7 (Mountain Lion)?

CS3 software (InDesign and/or any other components of the Creative Suite 3) is no longer available from Adobe or any authorized resellers. If you are attempting to buy a copy of CS3 off of eBay, Craig's List, or other such marketplaces, buyer beware. Much of that stuff is pirated or is not eligible for activation. A buyer should require that the seller guarantee that the serial number is valid and capable of being transfered to and re-registered your name. (For that matter, CS5 isn't still available, either!)
In terms of compatibility with MacOS 10.7, CS3 came out long before MacOS 10.7. Adobe does not officially support this configuration with CS3 and you should expect some incompatibilities.

  • Is Adobe CS3 supported in Mac OS X Yosemite?

I have just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and now none of my CS3 applications will work.  Is there a fix?

No it does not, after an entire day of trying to figure out why it wasn't working, it's really hard to get them on the phone and the woman was super rude to me. Then I got a call from Adobe saying it wasn't compatible with Yosemite and that I could buy CS6 from them instead for a discount. First I had been instructed to reinstall it but for some reason it wouldn't install again. I wish I had left it all on my computer and tried the tricks from the forum. Yeah, it's a discount but I spent a ton of money on the first one and it was fine. It totally sucks.

  • Need to borrow Adobe CS3 Standard for Mac installation DVD.

I recently installed a larger 1 Tb hard drive in my MacBook Pro. I intentionally did a clean installation and then copied the CS3 apps and system folders from my Time Machine backup to the new hard drive.
Bridge CS3 works fine and has retained my presets. However Acrobat CS3 and Photoshop CS3 launch and then give an error message, indicating that I need to uninstall and then reinstall the app.
Adobe technical support is unable to provide me with a copy of the CS3 media.
Help. I intentionally am running Snow Leopard on my primary partition just so that I have no incompatibility issues with Adobe Creative Suite 3 and QuarkXPress 6.52.

  • I was able to install Adobe CS3 on my MAC BOOK  Pro

Thanks for everyone's help. What I did to install CS3 on my Macbook pro running leopard was to uninstall partial install, and manually delete Bridge from my documents folder / or library folder...I forget. and I power cycled the laptop. Then CS3 installed properly.
Thanks again to all those who helped.

Thanks for the clarification on the terms. I consider myself proficent at my computer, but not exactly in its inner-workings! I have 8 GB of memory installed.
I am still confused as to why I do not have any space for the program. This is the exact error message I get: "There is not enough free space on Macintosh HD disk. The Print Shop 2 application requires about 550 MB to be installed. Free some disk space and try again."
Thank you again for your help.

  • Adobe cs3 cs4 cs5 permission error under Mac OSX

When I upgraded my Mac, I just used the time machine to recorver all of my preferences. Everything worked great except for Adobe Illustrator CS3 which would not start (license error).
I tried removing it and then install version CS4 (genuine copy) and it was not working. After much struggle, I realize the problem was that I did not have writing permission on the file
    /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet\ Publisher/FLEXnet
Simply try to copy a file to this folder to see if you have the same problem. Whatever I did then, I could not change the permissions to this folder (nor could Adobe special scripts) or the Folder Info panel.
This folder had extra attribute (@ sign in front of the file name when using a ls -ali in a terminal) and it turned out that these attributes were related to the time machine. I simply put the folder "FLEXnet\ Publisher" to the trash (had to enter the root password) and recreated manually this folder and the FLEXnet subfolder.
Then both Adobe CS3 and CS4 could run

I don't see a question in your post... but I feel your FLEXnet pain. At least you didn't have to feed it the serial number off your hard drive.

  • After reloading adobe creative suite cs3 on my mac 10.4.11 acrobat will not open any pdfs it previously opened. help!

after reloading adobe creative suite cs3 on my mac 10.4.11 acrobat will not open any pdfs it previously opened. help!

hello.   hey, thanks very much for writing back.  i got some good info with a search or two.  (info about what regedit is and what corresponds to it in OS X -- regedit allows you to edit "preference" keys for individual programs,  OSX's equivalent for these keys are the .plists in User & System: Preferences and Application Support)
what i ended up doing was uninstalling Premiere Pro (not the suite, just PPro).   Then i deleted a few preference files:
    from User /Preferences/Adobe:
    com.adobe.AdobePremierePro.plist
    com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.5.0.plist
    and from System Preferences:
the file:  Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs
    and..
    /.../Premiere Pro/5.0/...
AMEPrefs.xml     (i noticed that there's also a preference file in Media Encoder's own folder so i didn't sweat this one)
    Debug Database.txt
    Placeholder Preset.epr
    PostEncodeCmds.pref
    PresetCache.xml
    Trace Database.txt
    NOTE:
of course i don't know if deleting any files beyond the 2 .plist files in User Prefs was necessary, but...  it seems to have worked.
I then reinstalled Premiere Pro CS5, and fired up an old project and i've got playback of HD and DV files, and snappy editing and rendering,  so hopefully i'm good to go.   I'm just going to stick with v5.0.0 because i actually don't remember ever having any trouble with it, and i don't remember v5.0.4 adding anything i was 'missing' or 'needed'
hopefully, this thread will be useful for any future folks that run into trouble - and it's got a solution for both Windows and OS X
    happy editing,
    peace

  • I have switched from PC to Mac how do i use my windows version  of adobe photoshop CS3 on my MAC?

i have switched from PC to Mac how do i use my windows version  of adobe photoshop CS3 on my MAC?

    rebel1568,
All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC.  You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop.  You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines.  You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows  on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.

  • Mac firewall security flaw in Adobe CS3

Security experts are warning of an issue within Adobe CS3's Version Cue application which can disable a Mac's built-in firewall.
An alert from the experts at Secunia warns that Adobe Version Cue disables a Mac's firewall when it is installed. It does so in order to set certain ports up for "controlled access through the firewall", the experts said.
The probelm is that the installer doesn't re-enable the firewall once installation is complete, leaving certain system services vulnerable to attacks.
The security issue is reported in Adobe Version Cue CS3 Server, installed as part of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium, Design Standard, Web Premium, or Web Standard editions, Secunia explains.
There is a simple fix to the flaw, which is rated as "less critical" – users simply need to re-enable their Mac OS X firewall in System Preferences once installation is complete.
    http://www.macworld.co.uk/procreative/news/index.cfm?newsid=18066&pagtype=allcha ndate
I'm rather surprised that an application can simply turn off the firewall without any red flags to the user.
    Any comments?

..."From a user perspective, I did give authorization to install the software - I did not give authorization to turn the firewall off and keep it off."...
That's the thing though - you may not think you gave it authorization to modify the firewall, but by providing an "admin" password, you actually did. It is a matter of education, but users must be made to recognize that inputing an "admin" password is giving the process that asked for it carte blanche powers. Such an arrangement seems to be fairly typical in personal computing. Installers that use Apple's installer do sometimes break things down a little and providing a bit of detail to what right is being requested, but from what I recall, Adobe uses something else.
..."Apple should probably have provided some safety net. After all, we are talking "firewall" here, not just some preference setting. "...
I guess it's beside the point but in this case, this installer legitimately needed to modify firewall settings - you told it to install a type of server. It just happened that, there was a bug so it didn't restore the firewall after it was done. How does the system know that you didn't really want to turn off the firewall? Considering the diverse functions software can perform, it would probably be overly intrusive for the OS to try to second guess a programme every time it tried to do something. Changing any sort of user preference setting would not have required a password at all. If a programme asks for your "admin" password, that is the tip off that it intends to make changes to the system. The requirement for a password is actually a huge "safety net".
With anything related to security, there's always a compromise between security and convenience. The presumption is that as the "admin", you are a person with authority over the computer and have some level of trust in the software you are about to install. If you think about it, compared to the alternative, the current arrangement saves you from having to click "Cancel" or "Allow" for every single file that the installer is going to create, or approve every individual port it wanted to open in the firewall (keeping in mind you are installing some sort of server), and in particular, from learning the ins and outs of every detail of the guts of OS X so you fully understand what it is that you are agreeing to. Now if it turns out that your trust in Adobe's intent or competence were misplaced, the result will unfortunately be the occasional problem like this one.
..."I wonder what happens if changes to the firewall are locked? Can a software install just override this without any authorization?"...
With your "admin" password, yes. Files can be locked in certain ways where an installer or other process wouldn't be able to modify them, but as far as simply turning off the firewall, I don't think you could prevent something with authorization from your "admin" password from doing so.

  • Adobe CS3 and Mac Pro

For professionals using Adobe CS3 on Mac Pro about how much RAM is needed to run all 6 programs together efficantly? I'm looking into upgrades and really need some advice- Any out there to give?
    Thanks,
    Port

It depends. If you work with files greater than 1GB, almost as much RAM as you want/need (8GB would be good).
    What do you have now?
Are you use to using a large fast scratch RAID to help?
The more programs running (and not just CS3 but others as well) the more the merrier.
Same applies to whether you want 2.66 or 3.0 or 8-core model.
