Adobe CS3 Indesign SLOWWWW issues

I realize this isn't an adobe discussion, however, it appears that after performing the last security update...which i'd put off for minute...about a week ago, is the last change to my system.
Adobe Indesign CS3 Now takes about 7 minutes (i've timed it) to open a document. And another 5-7 minutes to save a document. It was working fine, and i've been using since nov. of 07. this just started last week and i can't find any information on the Super Duper slow down issue out there.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded their script fix, updated, reupdated...doesn't seem to matter. new install just like the old one. about 15 minutes of open/save time per file. That adds up in hurry throughout a day of work.
Anybody else have this problem? or know why it's suddenly happening?

Possibly answering my own question
after nearly pulling all my hair out, i just turned off the suitcase fusion font sense preference and auto activate and indesign seems to be opening and saving documents in a few seconds like it used to.
well, t hat appears to have done it for now. right after posting too.
unfortunately, trying to figure this out has lead me to the can't repair SUID permissions problem. oh well. i'll let that one rest for now and just get some work done.

  • Adobe CS3 Indesign no longer prints under 10.7

Upgraded the OS to Lion (10.7.1) and found I can no longer print documents when using Adobe CS3 Indesign.  I checked with an apple rep, and they advised that they thought CS3 should still work ..... yeah, right!  I believe this also affect CS4 users, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling CS3 software as suggested in a forum, with no joy - the problem still exists.  I think Apple should provide a patch to allow compatibilty with software that worked under OS 10.6.  Upgrading to CS5.5 is not an option, as the software is way expensive.  How about NOT putting people off upgrading their OS, Apple?

I suggest you post your question on Adobe.com's CS forum.

  • Adobe CS3 install/Repair Issue

    Hi there,
One of our clients had an issue with Adobe CS3.  When they went to save an Adobe document that they adjusted, they got a message stating that a seriouse error had occured and that they would need to reinstall the product.
We have attempted now to do a repair - which failed - it refused to see the installation media.
The next attempt was a complete uninstall/reinstall
    The uninstall worked beautifully
The reinstall... Not so much. The reinstall installed everything EXCEPT Adobe Writer/pdf.
We have tried several times to do this. Adobe CS3 is no longer avaialbale for download from the licensing portal so I can't verify if our installation media is at fault or not.
Assistance with this is most appreciated, as this is an issue - for the cleint - of a high magnitude.

To start off – Adobe Writer – or Adobe Standard as part of the CS3 bundle.
I had installed it from the local Administrator Account
The software was copied directly to the clients PC.
It was installed on a Windows XP machine – SP3 – 32bit. Nothing fancy.
First initial attempt to fix the problem was a repair of all components – Failed – couldn’t see the installation media for some reason.
Second attempt we uninstalled everything dealing with CS3. Rebooted. Reinstalled. No error messages. All went through and said it completed. However Adobe Writer was not present on the system.
Third attempt – Uninstalled everything dealing with CS3. Used the Adobe CS5 cleanup tool from the Adobe website. Purged the folder that CS3 was installed in. Rebooted. Reinstalled. Same result that happened in second attempt.
Contacted Adobe support. He informed me to contact the forums as this product is old. I had previously attempted to get the office manager of that branch to agree to an upgrade to CS5, but they did not want to at this time.  Contacted Forums.
The logs are on the Client’s machine. I don’t have access to it.
I discovered we had upgraded a few people from Adobe 8 Standard (standalone package) to Adobe X. Because of this, I have a few spare licenses for Adobe 8. As that was all she apparently needed (not sure who’s idea it was to give  her Adobe CS3 if all she ever used was Adobe Writer), I removed any traces of Adobe CS3 and installed Adobe Writer 8 on her system.
    Consider this issue resolved.

  • Silent install Adobe CS3 Production Premium Issue

    Hi folks,
I've ran into a problem when trying to roll at CS3 PP onto Windows 7 PCs.
I got instructions on how to do this from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402715.html but I've ran into a snag in that I have been able to generate the install.xml file ok but when the command runs it works away for a wee while then I get: -
End Adobe Setup. Exit code: 7
I'm using the following command string:-
    \\qms03\cip$\AdobeCS3PP\AdobeCS3\setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile=\\qms03\cip$\AdobeCS3PP\AdobeCS3\install.xml
I've had a look around the Internet and can't find a solution this and I wonder has anyone ever came across it before and do you know how I can solve it so I can get the application installed?
Your help would be much appreciated!

I have no idea why is this happening. When I'm playing games, the pc is just fine even when im playing for a couple of hours, which i think is more stressful for the pc compare to just using indesign.

  • Running Mavericks on an iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, I've been trying to install Adobe CS3. All components install except InDesign. Is this an installation disk problem or is it not compatible with the OS?

Running Mavericks on an iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, I've been trying to install Adobe CS3 Design Premium. All components install except InDesign. Is this an installation disk problem, or is there a compatibility problem with the OS?

I fear that you are trying to download OLDER Software on a newer Operating Sysytem Meaning that you need to Install the Latest Version of Adobe on the Newer Operating System for it to work Properly. Be sure to always check the minimum System Requirements.

  • Adobe CS3 Suite -- How to Get InDesign and Acrobat Pro to Install?

I uninstalled and deactivated my Adobe CS3 Design Premium from my 1st gen Macbook (2006) and installed it on my 3rd gen Macbook Air (2011). When I installed CS3 using the original discs, InDesign and Acrobat did not install properly. How to fix?
    My questions:
    1. Got any ideas how to install InDesign and Acrobat Pro without uninstalling the whole CS3, running the cleaner tool, and reinstalling everything again? I tried to rerun the installer just for InDesign and Acrobat Pro but I got the same result -- no install.
    2. Installing CS3 takes forever -- at least several hours. Is it because I'm sending it over my wireless network? (I'm "sharing" the DVD drive on my other Macbook because my Air doesn't have one.)
    Thanks so much!!
(More background, in case it's useful -- before installing CS3, I had run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to clean up the mess I made when I tried to migrate CS3 using Mac's migration assistant. I learned, thanks to this forum, that I couldn't use the Migration Assistant tomove CS3. I also found that the unistaller didn't transfer, so I manually deleted folders and then used the cleaner. It worked wel enough to allow me to install everything but InDesign and Acrobat Pro.)

Thanks Jeff (and Manish). I'm all for better reliability and a quicker installation.
This may seem like a dumb question, but how do I properly copy the CS3 install files onto a USB? Drag and drop everythng from the CD? Can I not just copy the files onto my desktop and install from there? That is what I thought Manish suggested, to install from the desktop.
I had tried this method. After copying the install files to the desktop, here's what happened: I clicked the setup application and it opened, but it immediately detected that I had CS3 installed and wouldn't let me go any further. Perhaps that was due to other problems resulting from use of the Migration Assistant.
Previously, when I used the install disk on the shared drive, I was able to open the setup and install the couple of CS3 programs that weren't installed the first time around. That installation attempt failed and led me here to my original post.
    Many thanks!

  • External display issues with Adobe CC inDesign

Since the latest OSX update (10.10.2), I'm unable to work on my external monitor in Adobe CC inDesign when the display is arranged to the top. The application launches, with menu and toolbars on the external, but fails to open the working document as well. With app frame checked, it shows the document but it's inaccessible – also, tools are pixellated.
Strangely, everything works fine with the external arranged to the left, right or bottom. I've tested it on a 27" apple display – same issue.
    Bizarre and annoying.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013, 2 GHz Intel Core i7) with external DELL S2240L arranged to the top. Running inDesign 2014.1 (10.1.0.71 Build)

I have a similar problem. I'm working on a 15" MacBook Pro with an external 27" Apple Cinema Display. I use the huge external display for the application frame and put my palettes on the laptop's display. The external is to the right of the laptop, and I arranged the displays such that their bottoms are aligned. Since updating to 10.10.2, the application frame jumps part way down the screen (I'm guessing to where its top aligns to the laptop display). This makes the application practically unusable.

  • Adobe CS3 Licensing Issue

I have Vista Business, Adobe CS3 with student licensing. It has worked great for three months. Now I'm back in school and I get an error that says "Licensing for this product has stopped working:". It is registered.
I've followed all of the fixes listed here and it still will not work. I have emailed support and they gave me the same fixes as here. Someone must know how to fix it, it's their software.
I tried to uninstall but all I get is the Install Wizard. I went through it once, inserted the disk and waited patiently. I have rebooted each and every time I've made changes. NOTHING WORKS!. I can't even unistall it, that is strange.
Does someone have another method of getting this going again. I have assignments due and it has really caused me a lot of stress.
    Thanks for the help,
    Paul

  • Previous computer crashed without my Adobe CS3 Design Standard for Macintosh application being uninstalled, I'm having issues with the CS3 on my new Macintosh laptop. Please help!

Since the previous computer crashed without my Adobe CS3 Design Standard for Macintosh applications being uninstalled, I'm having issues with the CS3 on my new Macintosh laptop. Please help, I've tried using the online "contact us" with no success, unable to get in contact with a tech support agent that can assist me.

CS3 is too old to run on a new Macintosh laptop, sorry. You'll have to purchase CS6 or a Creative Cloud subscription.

  • Adobe CS3 Windows 7 Pro 64bit Issues

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 64bit Edition after my system crashed.
I installed Adobe CS3 without a problem and it ran fine for a little while. Then one
day I started up Photoshop and then it just stopped working. So I decided to uninstall
it and reinstall it. When I started the installation, it halted and asked for this Adobe.dll file
so it complete. I clicked cancel and it aborted.
I have read many of the forums and they all suggest downloading a file or windows xp mode
    or virtual pc.
I have downloaded the file that it needs and it still aborts the installation. I have downloaded
windows xp mode and installed it succesfully but I have no wish to use this software virtually
because it is limited in the amount of memory it can use and seems to be a bit sluggish
regardless of how much memory I allow it to have access to. I also have no access to my second
    monitor.
Now that I have tried to install cs3 on multiple occasions, i now have to call Adobe so I can have
them reactive my copy. Adobe has to have some sort of work around or patch for this
because I cant forsee spending another grand for an upgrade to solve my problem.
    Here is my system specs:
    HP Pavilion M8530f
    AMD Phenom 9550 X4 Quad-Core processor 2.2 gigahertz
    7 gigabytes memory
ATI Radeon HD 5750 Video card
    2 monitors
    2 terrabyte hard drive

I am hoping its not because this a serious waste of having a 64 bit system if it is. do you know if this may be cause by a certain release version of cs3? i can imagine why any software would ask me to locate adobepdf.dll when it find itself on the cd. this is very puzzling. i have eliminated the video card, hard drive, and processor. frankly, i don't think i should work so hard to figure out how to eliminate a software especially when i paid so much money for it. if adobe doesn't find a solution, i guess i will have to find some other software that gets the job done without all these head aches.

  • Adobe CS3 won't install - could classic be an issue?

I had forgotten I even had classic until this morning on the phone with Adobe Tech Support. Problem is: Adobe CS3 will not install. My case now has been escalated to Tech Level 3, and I am awaiting that call. In other words, many fixes have been tried already, including a new disk Fed-Xed here. Anyway, I was just thinking.... what if some small component of Classic is causing this problem? I absolutely do not need it. If one of you wonderful experts thinks this might be it, I also would need to know how to uninstall it. (All the other questions in this forum seem to be how to make it work.) Thanks for reading.
PS The reason I thought of this was the Adobe Tech (Level 2) guy had me check every font to make sure none were locked. (None were.) We also repaired permissions and did the CS3Clean script several times at the Level 4. (I have to do all this all over again every time I try to install and it fails.)

For the record, this was the solution: Leopard was installed (clean) on this computer, and CS3 still wouldn't install. An Apple certified person tried many things after that. Spent about 8 hours and was about to give up. The idea that finally worked was to install the suite on a different hard drive and then "migrate" it to my hard drive (whatever migrate means). It was a truly horribly experience, and I am not anxious to do business with Adobe again.

  • Adobe CS3 Installation Issue

I have the Adobe CS3 Web Premium Suite and have been able to install everything except Version Cue. No matter what I seem to do it returns errors to me saying it could not be installed. I have the firewall allowing all incoming connections and have try running the repair permissions, both done with no luck. Has anyone had any success with this?

For what it's worth, Version Cue installed with no errors on my computer (10.5.1 at the time).
But as Kappy says, if you don't need it (or maybe even if you do) you're better off without it. I don't use it and would uninstall it if I knew how (Adobe apps are infamous for NOT uninstalling with a simple drag-to-trash).

  • Adobe CS3 - Acrobot Pro 8 Activation Issue

I reinstall CS3 design premium. Everything seems to be working fine except for Acrobat Pro 8, which won't activate. When you go to Help ---> Activate from the DVD, but it made no difference. When i run acrobot, "Continue Trial or Buy" menu shown, then i enter Adobe CS3 DVD serial number "Invalid Serial Number" shown.  now i run trial version, only 19 days remaining, Pls help.... How can I fix this?

    Hi,
Before you do that ... try first to trash the Acrobat Prof Preferences file.
You will find this in the Preferences folder ... just drag it to the desktop and try to launch Acrobat Prof 8 again.
IF, this is working than GO in the MENU bar of the Acrobat Prof 8 and select REPAIR CONFLICTS.
