Adobe CS3 Upgrade on 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro
I am planning to purchase the new generation MacBook Pro in about a month.
My question is about Adobe CS3. I currently use CS2 on an older G4 PowerBook because I could not deal with the performance dip on the older MacBook Pro (1.83 GHz with 512MB RAM). So I have a licensed copy of CS2 for PPC. If I buy the Upgrade Version of CS3 at a much reduced price, will the transition to Universal work on a MacBook Pro? No more Rosetta? Performance problems solved?
I realize Rosetta probably struggled with my previous MacBook's speed and lack of RAM. But I don't want to go through that hair-pulling again. I don't get into that advanced PhotoShop, etc. of CS3 but I'm willing to upgrade just to have it Universal and be more reliable. And, of course, I'd like to save the $800 on having to buy the Full Version of the software.

By the way, I had the same performance issue with MS Office for Mac. Almost 30 seconds to open Word! Anyone know if this becomes a non-issue with newer Macbook Pros??

Your problem your your previous MBP was simply RAM. 512MB when trying to use CS2 products is simply insanity. If you opt for a new MBP with the standard 2GB, better still with an upgrade to 4GB, then CS3 will perform extremely well. RAM us hugely important and one of the biggest bottlenecks in today's hardware and software requirements.

I purchased Adobe CS3 Upgrade at an auction with the intent to sell. I contacted chat support and they said the seller (auction) needs to transfer the license o me and then I can sell and transfer the rights to a buyer. Adobe PP Newbie, old *MacPro or new *Macbook Pro
I’m working with limited budget and trying to figure if upgrading my ol’ *MacPro or purchasing new Laptop is best for running Adobe PP. Unfortunately I can’t afford to do both.
I’m new to Adobe PP making the move from FCP7. Most of my work is long-form working with 100 – 150hr footage each project, 3 projects over lapping each other, editing from 3-7 cameras and 6-10 *GoPros. The footage is edited into programs for DVD, web, *YouTube and *iTunes. Delivery specs for *YouTube and *iTunes are set to high standards, 1920x1080 ProRes HQ, etc.
As you can see by my computer specs below my ol’ *MacPro is a mid 09 model and my Laptop also lacks processor speed, USB 3, good graphics card, etc.
I’m in the process of learning Adobe PP and have cut a few test projects from the 150-hours footage in project with a few problems with slow project open and a few crashes.
I need to consider what upgrades I should make to *MacPro, SSD, Ram, *Navida Graphics Card or is it best to purchase new Laptop with docking station HDMI adapter for my ol’ 30” display, ESata breakout for my *GSPEEDes, etc.?
Who else is using Adobe PP on older *MacPro and are you having any problems or recommend upgrades? Who’s using *Macbook Pro to handles long-form projects?

BTW, do I really need to use astriks on brand names to post because of spam filters?I am on a 2008 Dual Quad core, 10GB Ram with NVidia GTX 285 running PrPro CC (7.2.2) on OS 10.8.5 every day.
I don't have projects as large as yours but just started a new one with 50+ hours of mixed footage from GoPro, C300, 5dMk3 and RED 4K.
It struggles at times and I attribute most of that to low Ram. I recently tested OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks) with CC(2014.2) and determined that 10.8.5 is faster on my machine.
NO way am I going to Yosemite until I absolutely have to.
I would definitely consider replacing your ATI video card with a NVidia to take advantage of CUDA acceleration.
The GTX 285 is inexpensive used (ebay) and it's drivers ARE still supported on Mac. Whatever NVidia card you choose, make sure it's configured for Mac to avoid headaches.
I am currently drooling over the ASUS G751JT laptop, I'm just nervous about dropping easy compatibility with affiliated Apple post houses, and starting from scratch on most peripherals. -

Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro. It is coming from my other macbook.
Install normally means running setup from the orginal discs or the downloadable trial version. If you are copying from a backup or another computer, that won't work.
Best advice is to download the CS4 trial, and have your serial number ready in order to convert the trial into a licensed version.
Get the trial here. Follow the instructions carefully or the download link won't work.

I just upgraded to Mavericks on my Macbook Pro (2.7 GHz Intel Core i7) and now I can't print anything from Microsoft Outlook version 14.4.3. any suggestions? I can print from Word and Excel w/o any issues.

How will having another icloud email benefit me. I have my work email which is all i require, but had to set up a @me account to get email on my Macbook.
I have a Mac computer that i upgraded to Mountain lion, a macbook pro and an iPhone 4s which has the latest software. all i want is simplicity and to have one email account which which will not duplicate everything 4 or 5 times.
My notes are duplicated, i have to delete my emails individually on all devices so whenever i put my phone on, all the emails i have deleted at work re-appear on my phone and again the same thing happens on my Macbook pro. I seem to spend all my time deleting emails 3 times.
Is there something simple in the set up of these that i am missing?

It sounds like you would like to send a text from your phone number on your portable computer. You can do this by setting iMessage to start new conversations from your phone number in the Messages settings:
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts.

If you bought the MBP new 3 weeks ago, it should have come with Mountain Lion already installed. Did you update your MBP to the newly released 10.8.4 update? If not, what OS were you running before the upgrade, and what version of Mountain Lion do you have now? -

Well, not sure if having the disk in a firewire case or over a network would have made a difference.
The solution of making a disk image as in article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2664 was what worked for me.
After, mounting the disk image the Migration Assistant completed without errors. So far everything seems to be working like it did on 10.4.11. -
