Adobe CS4 and Canon Scanner LiDE35

I have Adobe CS4 and a Canon LiDE35 scanner. (Mac OS X 10.5.6)
Although I've downloaded the latest scanner driver from Canon, the scanner is unrecognized in, for example, CS4's Photoshop.
I have a temporary work-around: Haven't yet uninstalled the CS2 that CS4 replaced. Looks like I can scan into CS2, save, close, and reopen in CS4.
Anybody know how to get this scanner to play well with CS4?
Thanks.
Andy

"Seems silly to use $1000 application as a UI for a scanner that costs less than $100"
Yep, plus the Canon "toolbox" was handy for other scanner uses, too. (Faxing, copying, etc.)
I deleted the latest Canon Toolbox software and reinstalled the older toolbox that came on disc with the scanner. It works fine with Mac OS X 10.5.6. Strange that the newer TB doesn't.
I'll give Canon an "A" for effort in the customer service department, though. Direct emails from me have been replied to promptly and personally.
The only suggestion I haven't tried that Canon suggests is moving the scanner connection from a USB hub directly to the computer.
Might check out VueScan anyway.

  • Does anyone have a disc / installation file of Adobe CS4 and may make it available / sell?

Does anyone have a disc / installation file of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and may make it available or sell? I bought a group license in 2009, I've got serial number and certificate but unfortunately I've lost the cd. Now I have to re-install the application. Adobe does not support this version any longer and does not provide download file or CD of CS4. Could you help me?

You can download the software from this 3rd party website

Probably best to ask in the CS forum. If you still have the software keys for CS4, then upgrading to CS6 should work, but you need to check the upgrade policy on the Adobe Store to be sure. Generally you only need the software key to do the upgrade. If you do not have the key, then you may be up a creek unless you registered (as you should). If you registered, Adobe can likely help on getting you the keys needed for the upgrade. I suggest you confirm this in the CS forum.

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 and Canon Rebel T3

I purchased a Canon Rebel T3 this week after my Canon Rebel XS died on me.  Unfortunately, the T3 doesn't seem to be compatible with my CS4 Bridge when downloading images from the camera.  It is unable to convert the files to DNG.  Is there an update to CS4 that works with a Canon Rebel T3?  From what I can tell, only CS5 will work with my camera, and that's not an option for me.  In the meanwhile, I have downloaded the Adobe DNG Converter for my Mac, while useful, isn't as clean a process as the conversion happening within Bridge itself.
I've had a hell of a week with technical difficulties!  Thanks in advance for your help.

I have downloaded the Adobe DNG Converter for my Mac, while useful, isn't as clean a process as the conversion happening within Bridge itself.
If you have used Adobe Updater for CS4 and have the latest ACR plug in for CS4 that is all you can do. If your camera is not supported (and since CS5 is more then a year ago released every new dSLR from then on is supported for the CS5 converters) you have two options.
first is to upgrade to CS5
second is to just use the free DNG converter as you do now. (have no ability to test but maybe there is little change Photodownloader will let you convert the files to DNG so just give it a try).
But after having used DNG Converter and point Bridge to that folder you are able to work with the files as you used to do (rename, sort filter and adjust in ACR CS4). If you can't use Photodownloader for ingestion of files it is just a bit more work to get the same results in Bridge but it is possible

  • Color mismatch between CS4 and Canon PIXMA PRO6500

Hi there! I am trying to research if anyone else is having a problem with color mismatch between CS4 and their printer. Last night I printed a .tiff image out of CS4 to my Canon PRO6500 printer and the sky came out purple / pink! It was supposed to be a stormy grey color. I have the color management turned off on the printer settings. I have CS4 manages color turned on and the correct ICC profile selected for the paper I am using. When I do a soft proof in CS4 the image looks fine, but when I print I get something completely different, mostly with the sky (purple / pink) color! Just for the heck of it I did a Print Preview under my Page Setup and guess what, the sky actually shows purple / pink! So I have no idea what's going on. I checked all my setting, ink cartridges, tried different paper with the appropriate ICC profile and no dice. Still have a goofy looking sky! I thought PROOFING the image is supposed to show you how the printed image is going to look? apparently it doesn't because it's not. The Print Preview has an accurate representation of the print but I have no idea where the pink / purple sky is coming from. They are supposed to be stormy clouds as I said. I appreciate any help anyone can provide .
    Sabciu

I have the color management turned off on the printer settings.
But do you have a measured color profile based on a sample print? Most likely not, so this is not doing anything in your favor. The current profile may present the defaults for a given printer, but not the actual density based on your other printer settings. So by all means, unless you can be sure to obey a full calibration throughout, turn on the printer CM. Also, since it is a Pro model, you may actualyl have to use the dedicated RIP software that was bundled with it to get correct results, not the default windows print engine.

  • Can i run Adobe cs4 and Aperture 3.4.5 on mountain lion?

I have downgraded from mountain lion back to snow leopard only to find my old cs2 won't work,so i have decided to go back to mountain lion and upgrade to CS4.I just want confirmation that i will be able to use CS4 and Aperture 3.4.5 with mountain lion before i waste more $$$ please, cheers.

Yes, you can.  CS6 would probably be a better option but CS4 will work.  And Aperture 3.4.5 is the latest version and runs well on Mountain Lion.  Aperture 3.3 and later require Lion or Mountain Lion; they won't run on Snow Leopard.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 and Canon 600d problems

    Hello,
Recently I've been having a few recourring problems when trying to edit footage I captured on my Canon 600D on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
The footage shot on the Canon is 1920x1080 at 24fps, when I create a setup preset for these settings in Premiere the clips appear to import absolutely fine. The setup Ive created is shown in the screenshot below.
The problems start when I place the clip on the sequence and render it, once the clip renders the playback in the program/timeline preview window goes all weird and doesn't play the clip properly. Shown in the screenshot below.
First of all I thought this might just be a playback error but when I try to export it as a video file it says error and closes down. This is extremely irratating so i wondered if anyone would be able to offer me a soloution. I have a feeling it may be my setup preset but if so would someone be able to tell me the correct way to set it up for a canon 600d camera because whenever I try a preset found within premiere it exports the video at 720 resolution and very low quality.
Thanks very much for whoever replies, I appreciate it very much
    Mike

Ahhh okay that sucks, is there anyway to convert the footage that I already have without drastically reducing the quality as I want my film to be the best quality that is possible?

  • Poor interface with Adobe CS4 and setting the file size for emails

In frustrations over an unfixed bug in iPhoto (slide shows) in addition to too many limitations, I am trying out Aperture. So far it has been a big disappointment. I like Photoshop (CS4) with layers etc. as well as Adobe Camera Raw, both of which I intend to continue using. The workflow in Aperture appears disappointing (Photoshop) and totally absent (Adobe Camera Raw). It seems like Apple's attempt to capture some of Adobe's market share has has happened on the consumer's expense? Besides disappointing functionality, I have run into a surprising problem: No matter how I set the email photo export preset in preferences, the attachment shows up as a large file when exported to Entourage. The size does not change no matter how I set this preference.
My 21 years of loyalty and enthusiasm towards Apple has taken some heavy blows lately. With some 15000 photos and 35+ albums in iPhoto, I don't see too many alternatives. Can someone tell me if there is a way around these problems.

First of all I am not comparing Aperture to Photoshop by expecting the layers function. It is the interface between the two I am questioning. We obviously also have different expectations to Aperture. Mine are solely based on my experiences with iPhoto and what Apple tells me on their website:" Aperture 3 is a professional photography application that lets you refine images, showcase your photography, and manage massive photo libraries. Aperture 3 gives you all the easy-to-use tools you need to import, organize, compare, enhance, and share your photos." I do not find a single sentence stating that it is primarily a "Raw image editor processor" as you are defining it. I was not looking for a new raw editor. I was, however, based on Apple's claims above, expecting a combined advanced editing an photo library application. As such I also expected layers. That is not comparing it to Photoshop. Naturally our views are based on expectations and experiences, and ours are just different, that is all.

  • Adobe Raw and Canon 6D

As an OAP who has recently upgrade my camera to Canon 6D I now find that Photoshop 5.5 will not open the raw files, if I use Lt Room 5.7 no problems (Lt Room 6 just been ordered).as a photographer I mainly use Lt Room. At the last meeting of my local Photographic Society I picked up an old copy (july 2014) PhotoPlus  in a discussion on Raw files it show that for my camera I would need to purchase Photoshop 6CC. As some one who uses photoshop on an irregular basis to purchase CC version would not be economical.
Has anyone created a plugin or an update which will help with this?

Yes, you can save directly from Lr to a DNG, backwards compatible to as early as ACR 2.4.
    Alexanderd wrote:
I already use DNG to convert Yes it works but still not acceptable it should if anything work as Lightroom 5.5 does and have Adobe Camera Raw built in or at least a method of automatically opening the converter from within cs5 as you open an individual picture.
Lightroom doesn't actually use Camera Raw, it has the same interface built in. Camera Raw versions newer than 6.7.1 simply are not supported in CS5. You'll have to use the DNG converter or Lightroom to convert.

  • CS4 and Canon HV40 issues

When I capture in HD on CS4 from my Canon Vixia HV40 the footage picks up some horizontal pixel mess ups. It doesnt happen when I capture in DV. But I've tried every HD setting on the Premiere file and on the camera. Don't know what to do. Help?

    Brandon
I've had similar issues like this-- i.e the lines you are seeing plus I get dropouts which in turn make the video and audio go out of sync when capturing HDV through firewire (Nice cam by the way! I have the sony version HC-9)
My only solution up to this point has been to  just recapture that part of the footage and that usually fixes things- (but is a huge pain)
I tried cleaning the heads with a panasonic mini dv head cleaner but haven't gotten the time to capture anything since- when I do I will report back but it is always a good idea to give the head cleaning thing a shot.
Also since I have a Sony camera I use Sony mini DV tapes but I'm thinking I might have to upgrade to the more expensive version to avoid some of this dropout. That's the thing though I used these same tapes for DV and never had any issues with them- They are good quality tapes. It is frustrating to me that HDV has changed that
Please report back and let us know if any of this has helped

  • Image capture and Canon Scanner

Why won't my Canon D660U scanner work with Image Capture? I've downloaded SANE (whatever that is) and Image Capture will now recognise the printer, but still won't scan my slides. The only application that will work is Vuescan, but it's US$49.95! Surely the application built in to Tiger can do the job, why is it so hard to get it to work?
    eMac 800 MHz PowerPC G4 1G RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   4G b&w screen iPod

Image Capture works with scanners that have driver software for Mac OS X. It also works with some TWAIN-compatible scanners.
To find out if your scanner is compatible with Mac OS X, check with the scanner's manufacturer, or go to the peripheral compatibility webpage at www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/devices.html.
If Image Capture doesn't recognize your scanner, be sure to install the software that came with the scanner.
If that doesn't work, chooses Devices > Browse Devices. Under TWAIN devices, select your scanner, and select "Use TWAIN Interface." Then Click Connect. To learn how to perform scans with the dialog that appears, see the documentation that came with your scanner.
Check with the scanner's manufacturer to make sure you have the latest software.

Be sure to also go to Canon's site and download any updates to your printer / scanner in the 'Support' section.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help Adobe CS4 and upgrade

I have been editing photos previously using my Lap top with Photo shop CS4. I have a new iMac and want to put this program onto it however the serial number I have is showing that its not valid? I´d even consider up grading to CS6 but have been told I can not? Anyone out there who can tell me how to get CS4 on my new computer please?

Contact support by phone or web chat regarding serial number issues. nobody here can do anything in such matters. And not to spell out the obvious - if "alpop" means a PC then it will never work. Serial numbers are platform specific and you cannotr swap them for legacy versions, only current ones, but since you missed your upgrade deadline then, you are going from bad to worse and need to buy a new license/ sign up for Creative Cloud.

  • CS4 and Canon 60D

Is there some download I need so that CS4 can open my RAW files?
    Thanks for your help.
    Esther

What Conroy said. Convert the 60D Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS4.
    A DNG workflow primer
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/software-cinema-for-photographers/the-dng-workflow/
To edit 60D Raw files, you need at least ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 6.2. ACR is a plugin for Photoshop which Adobe must continually update on a camera by camera basis.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
CS5 was the first version to support ACR 6.2
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
If you really want to edit Raw files, you would now be required to join the Creative Cloud since CS4 is no longer eligible to upgrade to CS6 or any version thereafter.

  • Can't Export to tape with CS4 and Canon XL2

I can capture just fine from my XL2 but I can't export out to tape.  It doesn't set the camera up as a playback monitor.  How can I remedy this situation?  Is there a setting I am missing?

Make sure External Device under Export is enabled in the Playback Settings of the Program monitor.

  • Adobe CS4 OpenGL issues with 10.6.2 and Intel GMA950 video card

I just upgraded to Adobe CS4 and in PS I cannot enable OpenGL. I'm running 10.6.2 on a Macbook with the Intel GMA950 video card.
I was wondering if 10.6.2 does not have the relevant drivers for CS4 to recognize this chipset or that since the video card is integrated (as opposed to a stand alone with the newer Macbooks) that Intel has not update the drivers? It ***** since I cannot use some functions inside PS without OpenGL.

Hello blue20 & welcome to discussions
1.) You can search these forums for the topic of:
    Adobe CS4 GMA950
As an example, if you haven't already, in an effort to parse what's already been discussed.
2.) Have you looked at any of the Adobe forums:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2356530
3.) How many fonts are you working with?
The general approach at this time is to ask if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure any 3rd party apps AND plug-ins are Snow Leopard compatible.
An additional measure is to clear the existing font caches:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/139383/2009/03/fontcacheclear.html
That said, 10.6.2 release notes have this to say about fonts:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3874
    Fonts fixes provided for:
    • an issue with font spacing
    • an issue in which some Fonts are missing
    • font duplication issues
    • an issue with some PostScript Type 1 fonts not working properly
    Good luck in any case.
