Adobe CS4 on 64 bit systems
Anyone know if adobe design premium CS4 will work on a 64 bit system?
Yes, but if you need to know more, I suggest you go to the Suite forums.

I recently had a problem with Prem Pro CS3 coming up with an "out of memory" error.
Adobe were unable to come up with a solution so, in an attempt to at least give the system more RAM, I bought a new system with 8Gb.
Since 32 bit systems are not able to use that much memory, I went for the 64 bit version of the Windows Vista operating system.
I thought all my problems were solved until someone at Adobe told me none of the programs in the CS3 suite is designed to run on a 64-bit platform!
Can anyone tell me why not? Can it really be that difficult to enable Prem Pro to access more memory etc.
I wonder if the much heralded CS4 will be able to run 64bits...
Chris Walsh> whats the chances it'll handle mobile phone (etc) mpegs without issue?
"Without issue" is a virtual impossibility. I would guess, however, that the support for various MPEG formats will be improved upon in the next release.
On Vista...I'm running Vista and have had no issues, no slowdowns, no crashes, no lost data, no memory leaks, etc. I'm running it on a laptop, and it's very very fast. Most of the issues people are still whining about were 3rd party driver compatibilities, and those were worked out in the last year and a half since Vista was released (for the most part...obviously, some older hardware and software will never be compatible with Vista because it's no longer supported by those 3rd parties, or because newer versions are available. See CS3 vs. CS2...no sense supporting Vista on old software when you built that compatibility into the new software).
I was skeptical about heading the Vista route, but most of the issues now are more myth than fact, or they are just old issues that were solved months ago or a year ago after the Vista dust settled. I discovered this through a little current events research, as well as with my own personal foray into the world of Vista.
All this being said, it's not worth upgrading most existing XP machines to Vista (any machine more than a year old with XP installed), but if you buy or build a new machine these days, most of the current software and parts and pieces were designed around Vista and are better optimized for it than for XP (for which there are usually issues running software in "XP compatible mode").
Memory issues and bloat, those were the two big complaints. I've found, however, that Vista handles memory much more intelligently than XP ever did, and makes better use of lesser memory. My notebook only has 2 GB in dual channel vs. 4 GB (also dual channel) on my workstation, and PPro and AE previews, renders and just about everything completes in less time than on my XP machines. I'm sure the nice T9400 processor is helping, but it's still all "strained" by the so-called limitations of Vista, so...I'd say the proof is in the pudding (or the render).
A final thought....before you go repeating the year-old thoughts and reviews of every blogger or tech magazine writer, make sure 1) they know what they're talking about, and 2) that they still hold those same opinions today. Lot of those guys jumped on the bandwagon for Vista after SP1 came out. -
Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4
Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4
Question: We are experiencing some major errors with printing to our Epson Stylus 9800 Pro. Some of our large files are spooling about 16K, then crashing Photoshop. Sometimes we are getting partial prints (the left most 3-4 inches of print, or the file starting to print about 1/2 way into the file itself), sometimes it just spools for a few minutes, then stops, with nothing coming from the printer at all.
At Epson's request, we have tried the following:
reinstalling Windows 7 print driver
Reinstalling Adobe CS 4
Installed NEW NIC in printer
Installed new network line to printer
Installed new main board on printer
Printed from a PC directly connected to printer via USB and crossover cable
This issue is very bizarre in that it is random and sporatic. Same file will cause one of the above errors, then, another attempt to print same file will be successful. We have several Windows 7 machines that get the issue, while several Windows XP machines are fine. Epson instructed us to install the newest (win7) driver on the XP machines, issue then affects XP machines. Uninstalling new driver and re-installing old driver on XP machines resolves issue on XP machines.
Is this an issue with the Epson driver? CS4 on Windows 7? Or some other malady?

Hello, I own a license for Adobe CS5 Production Premium and Adobe CS4 Design Premium for Windows/PC. I am switching to an OSX/MAC system. Is it possible to transfer my licenses to the new platform?
It's possible to transfer licenses but it must be done by contacting a Customer Service representative by phone or web chat. They'll probably have you submit a form.

Adobe Bridge CS4 Hangs and whole system goes down.
Adobe Bridge CS4 Hangs and whole system goes down.
This is happening when I just finished edition RAW files in ACR and hit DONE, right after that a Bridge hangs, Cannot open Explorer, PC functions are down, cannot start anything, cannot stop Bridge process, cannot properly restart. Only holding power button shuts donw PC forcefylly.
I happens once per 10 edits of RAW files and super annoying.
Pleeeeease help!No wonder I think this is Bridge.
That is indeed a tempting thought, have you already tried the refresh preferences for Bridge using ctrl key pressed down while restarting Bridge?
But Bridge is very critical in reacting on odd system behavior, so also keep the advice of Station-Two in mind. On a Mac repairing permissions often solves problems, don't know the PC equivalent of this. -

How do I install Adobe CS4 Design Premium on a Non-System Drive?
I am trying to install Adobe CS4 Design Premium on a Non-System Drive, but it appears
that there is no option to do so. Is there a workaround to changing the installation location?Hi Bob,
Thanks for your answer. The reason is because I am working on a Navy computer with limited space on my C Drive. I have more space available to me on a "D" Drive. I am running Windows XP with 3GB RAM and 17GB on the D. I only have 10GB on the C Drive, but that needs to stay open for system patches, & other software. Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 is installed on the C.
Thank you for your response.

Can one use Adobe CS4 in a 64 bits computer ?
Hi
I have a couple of queries and I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with them.
a) Will Adobe CS4 softwares, like After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop etc work on a 64 bits computers ? And if it does work, will it work with all its functionality ? Will all plug-ins, like Magic Bullet, Twixtor, Trapcode plug-ins etc also work ?
b) Will Adobe CS4 (and CS5) work on Windows 7 Home or Windows 7 professional version. Or does it necessarily need Windows 7 Ultimate verion ?
ThanksThanks Todd for your reply. I will go through all the links that you have sent. It may take a while though.
Yes, a PC seems to be a good choice especially with an impressive screen and ablity to expend the RAM to a large extent
But right now as I have a limited budget and am going to be using CS4, and it wont be much useful to have more RAM than 4GB as I beleive that CS4 . being a 32 bits program, cant make use of anything more than 4 GB RAM
I am eventually hoping to buy CS5 and a very high end PC.
But for time being I was planning to buy Dell Inspiron 15r, with i5 processor, 4 GB RAM and 1 Gb ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470.
This configuration may not be very powerful, but will it suffice ? It may be slow , but will it be very slow ? and will be there any jerks or blips or will it be slow and "steady" ?
Also the screen 1366 X 768. Is that good enough ? Adobe After Effects requirements seem to be 1280 X 900
Will the Dell Inspiron 15 r with the above config, give me good enough performance so that I can do HD video editing ?
I am not doing a lot of work , but just editing my own work. Also when I sit in front of PC for long hours, my back starts to ache.. but with a laptop i can change positions, recline and even lie down - lazy me !
Looking forward to your opinion and suggestions
Thanks

Adobe Flash Player 32 bit for 64 bit system?
I have Windows Vista 64 bit OS but I use IE9 32 bit browser. However, I mainly use Firefox. I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (11.6.602.168) installed; I followed all the instructions on the help page -- disable active x filtering, updating the drivers, hardware acceleration turned off, etc. What I want to know is should I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player 32 bit even though I have a 64 bit OS? Flash player keeps freezing up. Do I need to change any of my global settings?
Here are the flashlogs from the host that SAYS it has the plug in installed
in programs & features, but LACKS it according to firefox
(& probably doesn't have either x86 or x64 plugin in reality)
installed from the manual, offline installer as above
note: the IE version is installed & works

Why does ADOBE FLASH Crash with XP, CHROME, 32 bit system
XP, Chrome, 32 bit system, Adobe flash version: 11.6.602.171 . Why does flash crash on a daily basis? (sometimes numerous times a day)
PROBLEM SOLVED. There were two versions of Flashplayer installed. I re-ran Flash Aid and it sorted the problem.
Why does Adobe not resolve this problem at installation or upgrade time???? -
I can't get Adobe to download on my 64 bit system, what do I need to do?
Adobe wants me to download the 32 bit version of Firefox and run that on my 64 bit system. I wasn't aware that there are two versions of Firefox. I need to update Adobe reader and Flashplayer. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Which Firefox version are you running?
You have a corrupted user agent that identifies you as Firefox/3.6.16
*Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 BRI/1 Firefox/3.6.16 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) FBSMTWB
See:
You only get the orange Firefox menu button if the menu bar is hidden (View > Toolbars).

Adobe says the Magic Extractor Tool is not available in Elements 13 for 64 bit systems. Is it available on 32 bit? Is there indeed a 32 bit version? Is this tool available on earlier Element versions?
The magic extractor disappeared after PSE11. It's recommended that you use the quick selection tool together with refine edge, if necessary.
From the refine edge dialog you can output your cut-out to a new layer or layer mask.

Switching my adobe flash player from 32 bits to a 64 bits system flash player
in my control panel under flashplayer is a 32 bit system download and in my systems display says it should have a 64 bit flashplayer system download , this is the reason why I cant play most of the internet games in which most will display that my adobe flash player needs updating and downloading . once I click on updates or down loads it will only download 50% then stops
There isn't a separate 32-bit or 64-bit Flash Player; the installer will automatically install both on a 64-bit system.
If you have troubles installing it, try the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header -
Adobe cs4 is running on a 32-bit PC ?

? When about it will get to market the non beta
release(normal/official) of this ?This is not the CS4 Discussion Forum. That can be found here:

And to answer your question, yes it does run on 32-bit
computers on both platforms. And to answer your last question, when
it's ready. For an official date, contact Adobe PR. -
How Install Adobe Type Manager On 32 bit system
Installing Adobe Type Manager on 32 bit system gives error message saying need 16 bit system.
Thank you very very much. I bought these fonts from Adobe many years ago on a 3.5 inch disk which I still have. I assumed they were Adobe fonts. I have saved the disk contents on my network drive. I could use the Control Panel install from my network drive using my 6 year old desk top computer running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
The Add Fonts from the control panel on my Lenovo SL510 running the same level Windows would allow me to point to the Font directory on the network drive but would not list the fonts. I had to move the the fonts into a newfont directory under C:\Windows. Then the Add Fonts would list the fonts and install them. I add all this because there have been over 130 views of this subject.
The question is Answered. Thank you.
