Adobe CS4 showing weird character in Lion

Hi, I'm using Adobe CS4  (photoshop, illustrator ..) with Lion and it start to mess up with my keyboard.
After using either of them for a while, my keyboard layout is change to something very weird.
Example if I type ASDFG it become ß∂ƒ¸
First I thought my keyboard "alt" button got stuck but it wasn't. Obviously is the CS4 because it work perfectly until I start the program.
Is anyone having the same problem too?

oh the problem is fix. sorry, wasn't cs4 problem. is the wacom.

  • Adobe CS4 not right in Lion?

I am setting up new laptops using Migration Assistant against each user's old laptop running 10.6.8.  Each one runs Adobe InCopyCS4 (ver 6.0.6.622), Adobe Bridge CS4 and Adobe Device Central CS4.  Once I have completed the migration (which otherwise works beautifully), I cannot launch InCopy.  It gets a good way into its launch and then crashes.  This is true for both Administrator and Standard accounts.  Also, when I look in the Applications folder, the icons are wrong -- they have plain old mac os x folder icons rather than the nifty icons each should sport.  So the next thing I tried was to reinstall the 3 apps, which in the case of my installer leaves them at 6.0, and then go to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities/Adobe Updater6/Adobe Updater and get them to 6.0.6.  When I tried that the updater doesn't work.  It identifies and asks to do the update, and when you click yes it downloads the update, with the progress bar inching its way slowly across.  Then when the progress bar is a bit past halfway, and the countdown indicates the file is finished downloading, the update panel disappears and a panel comes up saying that the update finished successfully.  But it didn't -- the app is still at ver 6.0.  So I have stumbled across a work-around, which is to use ARD to copy the 6.0.6 version from my machine (still at 10.6.8).  After the copy, the right version is there, and it launches just fine and runs just fine.  After the install the folder icons are correct, and they are still correct after the copy.
I did try copying over the app from my machine without doing the installer first, but that doesn't work -- I get the crash-upon-launch then.
Anybody else seeing this?  I've done 3 machines so far, and each one has done the same thing.

Thanks, but the above was unavailable, as the install button would not show up. So having spent some hours on the internet trying to fix the problem I came across this: And it worked.  CS4 / Dreamweaver etc running like a dream again. So if you are tempted by Lion, this might be of use for all those Adobe things you need to run! It was simple, and fixed all Adobe problems. (which is caused by Lion not having Java Runtime within it).

  • If I update to Lion from 10.6.8, will Adobe CS4 "upgrade" work?????

I have Adobe CS4 from an "upgrade".  Will these adobe programs work if I upgrade to Lion?  Please, need an answer ASAP, so I know whether to make my next computer a Mac or a PC!!!!  It is absolutely ridiculous that my friend, who has at least 8 PC computers ( including business computers) is able to use all features of icloud using Win7(which is 16 months old), and I cannot use it on my "Apple" antique using 10.6.8(which is only 9 months old)  (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) for the same purpose.
I have never even had a PC, always an Apple product.  Now I get slapped in the face, HARD.  Apple just killed me for EVER buying another Apple computer, if I am unable to use ICloud with my computers which WILL run my adobe products.  I also have an IMac Intel Core duo 3.06, two IPads and a new Iphone.  and now I am done with Apple products I guess, if I have to update to Lion to use ICloud with a computer.  Especially if Lion doesn't support my current expensive suite of CS4(UPGRADE), and other Apps.  What on earth is Apple trying to do, phase out of computers totally? Have a relative who works for Apple, and no one can figure out why the company is so favoring the PC people.  The only thing I can come up with is that Win7 is a far superior program to OS10.6.8, and is likely vastly superior to the current joke of "Lion", and the upcoming "Mountain Lion".  At least Snow Leopards have some dignity, and honesty in their "live" form.  "Lion" is aptly named after an animal widely known for killing and eating cubs of its own species.  Mountain Lions are sneaky, creepy stalkers, who attack suddenly without notice, and kill animals off efficiently and quickly.  Male Mt.Lions also are known to kill the young of their own species, even their own cubs.  I guess these new OS's are aptly named, as they certainly are killing off those who have been faithful to Apple for so long.
I can buy a PC running Win 7, with the speed, programs, etc., that I need, for far less than a new, comparable Mac, which it seems will require me to purchase all new expensive Apps. (Adobe CS+), etc.
Why is Apple unable to either 1) offer its previously totally faithful adherants the ability to use its ICloud service using 10.6.8, which only came out 9 months ago (while Win 7 and Vista users can use the service easily), or at least make its new OS, work with expensive Apps owned by people, which work on 10.6.8, but will not work, so I hear, on "Lion" (and presumably not on "Mountain Lion" either).   Apple is/has turned into a predator of the worst sort, without a single thought or care about previously faithful customers.   WHY?
Also, off my wagon and back to my question;  will an "UPGRADE" of Adobe CS4 work with the latest updated "Lion"?  Thanks!

I went to that page.  Basically, it didn't specifically answer my question, or I am too dense to find the answer.  I understand that there are a few problems with Photoshop, which is the main use (of mine).  I could live with what it says.  I also found that there were problems with CS4, and using the brush tool, when I updated to 10.6.8. Found a fix to that by updating my Quicktime.  Why that works, I have no idea.  I am not a computer whiz, in fact at the other end of the spector, but read on a discussion that this updating of Quicktime worked, so tried it, and it did!
This community is a life saver for me.  I live in rural Wyoming (I guess all of Wyoming is rural.....) and no one knows anything about Macs.  All my problems have been solved by you great people!  And I thank you !
My present concern is:  I read somewhere else, that if my version of Photoshop, which is CS4, was purchased as an "upgrade", which it was, then maybe it will not upload to "Lion", as maybe the disk (upgrade), I have, may use Rosetta, which is NOT included in "Lion".   What I have read is that I would have to have a "new" (not an upgrade) version of CS4 in order for it to work with "Lion".   Anyone out there know the answer????  Photoshop users?????
Geniuses????  If you know, please help me out here.  I love my Macs, but really am irritated that the friends I have tried to talk into buying Mac computers, but didn't, now can enjoy all the advantages of ICloud, with an older version of their computer program (Win 7 OR(!!!)  VISTA,  and I cannot !!!!  Here I sit, with my 2 beloved Macs, both fairly new, 2 IPads, a new IPhone, and I am the one that cannot use ICloud??????  Was it in fact made for PC people, who have become Apple consumers through iPhone and iPad, and not made for the faithful, longtime Apple consumers????  HELP!!!!

  • Problem to install Adobe Cs4 design premium on mac Mountain Lion

    Hi,
I've changed my old Macbook pro (my OS was Snow Leopard) for the last new Imac. I did back up everything on an external disk with Time Machine.
When I've started for the first time on the new Imac with Mountain Lion, I've restored everything from the external disk.
But when I started Photoshop Cs4 or Illustrator Cs4, I got this message : Error 150:30
So I did unsinstalled the creative suite, clean all as recommended here :
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4673667
    I've downloaded a creative suite cs4 Trial from : http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
But when I install it, the process stop after a while and a window appears with :
"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which is no longer supported.
Please contact the application author for an updated version."
I suppose that the downloaded version is too old for Mountain Lion.
Could someone give an hand to work it out please.
    Thanks.
PS : I've got my ID and my serial number
I used a downloaded version because there's no CD lector on the new IMac.

  • CS4 "Save as Adobe PDF" not working in Mountain Lion

CS4 Save as Adobe PDF not working in Mountain Lion
Just bought a new Mac with mountain lion, installed CS4 design premium twice trying to fix this. When you go to "print" then "Save as Adobe PDF" the process fails with a pop-up saying "An error occurred while saving the PDF file". I can still do the standard "Save as PDF" - but that usually results in a file size 10x larger than Save as Adobe PDF so it won't work for me; I need the small file sizes of Save as Adobe PDF.
When I go to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation it seems to be recognizing a repair needed with Adobe PDF Printer (see screenshot below); but when I go through the repair nothing changes it still won't work.
    Any help is much appreciated!

"Save As Adobe PDF" works fine in Snow Leopard.
Thanks for the link, but this is no help - I already have "Save As Adobe PDF" on the menu - the problem is when I click that it errors out...
I just think its sad that Adobe charges people $2000 and provides zero support for future updates; when I buy an iMac for half that amount of money or an iPhone I get operating system support and bug fix downloads to deal with the latest internet advances for years to come - but Adobe apparently takes your money and says sayonara! Is it really that hard to provide updates on $2000 worth of software for say 24 months??

  • Is Mac OS X v10.7 Lion compatible with Microsoft 2008 and Adobe CS4?

I am looking to upgrade my Macbook Pro to Lion and need to ensure that the following applicans will still work? Any know issues that I should be aware of before upgrading?

I'm finding that Adobe CS4 isn't so fine, at least InDesign CS4 and Illustrator CS4. I researched this yesterday before I upgraded to Lion and couldn't find anything other than the possible issue with Java Runtime. I installed Lion and updated to Java For Mac OS X 10.7. However, both InDesign and Illustrator crash when I attempt to print. As soon as I select "Print" the spinning rainbow ball appears for a short time, then the programs crash. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • Is Lion compatible with Adobe CS4 products?

I have heard that Lion doesn't work well with many Adobe products once upgraded.
I have all of the Adobe CS4 Design Suite products, does it work well for others?
    Thanks-

I only have Photoshop CS4 and it works just fine for
me including the Neat Image plug in.  Remember to
install Java for Lion.  It is a seperate download and for
whatever reason is not part of the Lion install.
FYI, I am using it on an early 2009 iMac, 2.66 GHz,
    with 8 gig of RAM.

  • Can I Install Mountain Lion without reinstalling Adobe CS4?

Adobe CS4 edu version is difficult to get authorized and set up with seriel numbers.
I won't install Mountain Lion, until I hear that it shouldn't step on My Adobe CS4 Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.
Has anyone installed the new OS successfully?

I installed with CS5 on my hard drive, I did not have any issues, but I did backup first and suggest that you do as well.

  • After upgrading to Lion my white MacBook I can't launch Adobe CS4 Applications. Please help!

Everytime I try launching an Adobe CS4 application (Photoshop, Illustrator, watever...) I keep getting this kind of message, more or less:
"To open [Photoshop] CS4 you should install a Java executed environment, but you are not connected to the internet"
And I am! Why can't I run any of those applications? Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks in advance.

Hello Carolyn, thank you for your help.
I tried what they recommend on the Adobe pages, but the problem seems to be that the internet connection is not being detected.
I tried opening Java Preferences and a similar window appeared saying a Java environment is needed but I am not connected to the internet - but obviously I am.
As soon as I can solve this problem I will try what you recommend.
Can you please help me with the connection issue? As you may see, the window suggests to open the Network Diagnostics preferences panel. When I do, I get a good diagnosis but when I ask to verify the connection and enter the WEP password it fails to connect. I close the Prefs panel and connect again using the signal icon above, and I am back online!
    Thank you again, Carolyn.

  • Does Mountain Lion work with Adobe CS4?

This may have already been asked, but I didn't see it when searching. Sorry if its a duplicate question.
I have the Adobe CS4 Master Suite running on my imac (27" Quad core i7 processor at 2.93GHz with 8GB ram) currently running very smoothly on 10.6.8. I'm thinking of upgrading to 10.8. My question is does the upgrade break or slow down anything in the Adobe CS4 Suite? I mainly use Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop for my work and occasionally run Indesign, Fireworks or Dreamweaver (all CS4)
Any help or comments would be appreciated before I buy and download the 10.8 update. If any of the programs I mentioned have issues, are they major or minor?
    Thanks!

    Yes.
    Are my applications compatible?
