Adobe CS4 - Windows 7

I'm running into an issue with installing this software on Windows 7, it seems to freeze while attempting to install the "Adobe Fonts All" this is not a component that can be removed from the install list that I can see...is anyone else experiencing this issue or have any suggestions?
Thanks

I have a similar problem re-installing CS4 with Windows 7 Ultimate. Disc 1 is loading after the key code input and then before it has finished a message pops up and asks for Disc 3.  Disc3 ?  There is no Disc 3 so on the assumption that it should have been asking for Disc 2 -in goes Disc 2 and  what happens ? An installation failure message which means another attempt and again another error.  I never had this problem with XP Pro so is it Windows 7 ?   I am eagerly waiting for an answer to fix this annoying procedure and hope that someone out there has the answer to both our problems !

  • Unable to install Adobe CS4 on Windows 7!

I just upgraded my laptop's OS from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit. When I tried to install Adobe Design Premium CS4 Student Edition back on my laptop, it just doesn't seems to be installing anything. And after an hour or so, it just pop up a window stating that the installation failed with an Error Code 1620. I tried the installation for over 6 times since yesterday till now!
Back to the time when I used Vista, I had to create a new folder (eg. Adobe CS4) to install the software there (in that folder) and that was when it finally installed the software for me. Of course, I met the neccesary system requirements even before buying the product.
And now, even when I tried the same technique, it just won't work. I followed all the steps stated (such as restarting my laptop etc) and it just won't work! And according to the reviews on Windows 7, many people has no problem with the compatibility issue of CS4 and their copy of Windows 7.
Please save me if you have any idea on what's going on with the problem I am facing. I really need help regarding this because my whole life is going to depend on this fabulous software which I have been using it since last year for school and social works!
Any help will be deeply appreciated!!!

  • Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4

Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4
Question: We are experiencing some major errors with printing to our Epson Stylus 9800 Pro. Some of our large files are spooling about 16K, then crashing Photoshop. Sometimes we are getting partial prints (the left most 3-4 inches of print, or the file starting to print about 1/2 way into the file itself), sometimes it just spools for a few minutes, then stops, with nothing coming from the printer at all.
At Epson's request, we have tried the following:
    reinstalling Windows 7 print driver
    Reinstalling Adobe CS 4
    Installed NEW NIC in printer
Installed new network line to printer
Installed new main board on printer
Printed from a PC directly connected to printer via USB and crossover cable
This issue is very bizarre in that it is random and sporatic. Same file will cause one of the above errors, then, another attempt to print same file will be successful. We have several Windows 7 machines that get the issue, while several Windows XP machines are fine. Epson instructed us to install the newest (win7) driver on the XP machines, issue then affects XP machines. Uninstalling new driver and re-installing old driver on XP machines resolves issue on XP machines.
Is this an issue with the Epson driver? CS4 on Windows 7? Or some other malady?

It's possible to transfer licenses but it must be done by contacting a Customer Service representative by phone or web chat. They'll probably have you submit a form.

  • Using Adobe CS4 on Windows side of new Imac: It keeps crashing..Help!!!

    Hello,
I just bought a new 2009 Imac G5, 24in screen, desktop version, 3.06 GHZ Processor, 4 GB ram, 1TB of Storage. I used Boot Camp to split the hard drive down the middle (500 GB for each side) and I installed Windows XP service pack 3.
My company gave me the new version of Adobe CS4 for Windows (brand new) and after a successful install, the programs tend to crash often. Especially Flash. Photoshop crashed as soon as I opened it up and it was a small file I was working with. What the heck is going on here people???? It's all new stuff.
Anyone have a similar issue??? It's annoying and frustrating and has prevented me from getting a lot of work accomplished, so any help or advice would be great.
    Please help!
    Thanks!
    Mike
    p.s
On a separate note(this is not a question just a comment): some of the Adobe fonts that come standard with the CS4 did not install properly and were not recognized by my computer. This is because of the Imac's graphics processor. I called Adobe and they had to manually walk me through the process (in Windows)of getting the processor to read the fonts. It was crazy and actually, it was not their responsibility to do this...the woman was just being extra nice. FYI

    Many and sincere thanks!!

You need to have your computer looked at for upgrading and evaluate your third party hardware, software and files.
To fix your issue is too complicated and lengthy to go into all of it here, it will require the services of person very familiar and experienced with Mac's to first recover your data and then restore OS X back to a functional state which may or may not require new hardware/software installed.
You can hire the services of a local Mac computer support technician experienced in these matters.
Have them look at your Wifi security/speed, RAM amount, extra storage and computer backup proceedures in the process.
    Good Luck.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate Final, updated and activated. Can anyone help me, thanks !

Googling this appears to be a Microsoft error, not an Adobe error, and generally indicates a problem writing one or more files to the install location.
Here is one of the things Google brought up, back from 2007:
    http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/understanding-error-1603-fatal-error-during-insta llation
Here is an Adobe KB article about the error:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408716.html
Does this error happen at the beginning of installing each thing or have things been running awhile?  At the beginning it would suggest a general problem with the install location like permissions or drive-corrupting or something.
If things have been running a while, perhaps the installer is having a problem with a specific file.  Do you have any other Adobe products related to Photoshop installed that could be locking one of the files?

  • Adobe CS4 Gamma vs. Windows XP Gamma Solutions Needed

         Dear forum users;
Across time and going back into the dark ages of PS I have consistently been vexed, foiled and mentally broken multiple times by the issue of what appears to be Adobe being incompatible with MS Windows XP or WN-2000 Pro or any MS OS going way back to Win 95.  The situation remains with CS4.
Is there some well written article on the simple issue of editing .jpgs for the web in Adobe CS4 etc. and "then" having them appear in any Windows program or Web application or software so they all look exactly the "same".  At present, as with all of my pain and suffering the in past, my .jpgs are all too dark when saving for the web ( Windows XP Pro ) from Adobe Software and look horrid.
How is this easily resolved without complicated endless 10 hour courses, cryptic technical discussions, six inch thick books that all go nowhere and worse.  Better yet is Adobe PS just not compatible with a Windows environment and if so what the hell have they been doing there all of these years?
         Sincerely;
         Ephemerol  /  N. California

PC monitor settings are often all over the map.
My recommendation:  Remove Adobe Gamma from your startup group, and use your on-monitor controls and/or video driver settings to make the following chart, displayed at 100%, look right:
    http://images.prodigitalsoftware.com/2.20GammaCalibration.png
This chart can help you know if your PC monitor is set so that the gamma response is more or less proper (at gamma 2.2).  It's copied from an old web site that's no longer around. Bravo and thank you to Timo Autiocari, who originally created it.
The dark vertical bars along the right contain alternating black and dark gray squares. If you can (barely) see the differences in the dark squares in the upper one and can't really see them in the lower one, then you're pretty much right on. Also, your overall gamma should be set so as to make the larger vertical bars both look like smooth gray gradients, light to dark, with no color or differences side to side. In practice it's hard to get them perfect, but it's possible to get them very close.
NOTE: Make sure you're viewing this chart at 100% zoom or it falls apart.
I recommend starting by setting your monitor's brightness and contrast "center-scale" and seeing if you can get close with your display adapter's color curves (et. al.).  Get this chart looking right and you'll have a more or less "properly" calibrated monitor, without the expense for or use of any special hardware.  With care you can make multiple monitors match beautifully!
This is what you're supposed to see:
After getting your monitor(s) set to more or less proper gamma response, I would set the preferred working space in Photoshop to sRGB, which is the default Windows color space.  Most browsers in use do not do color management and are running on Windows, so using sRGB ensures your image will look consistent across the majority of systems, whether color managed or not.  Something like this:

  • Adobe CS4 for Mac v Windows

I am starting out as a Freelance video editor. My sister is in fashion design. Due to our tight budget we plan on sharing the Adobe CS4.
I use a MacbookPro while my sister an HP laptop.
As a solution I thought of buying the Windows version of CS4 which I will run using Parallels.
Does it make sense? I had heard that there are significant performance impact when using a "virtual" machine than running it "native" on OS X. But then lately people have been telling Parallels is really good?
I am not too keen on having a CS4 Master for Windows instead of a Production Premium for Mac only. But if you people think there is no harm in it then it would save me a lot of money by buying one copy of multi-license Windows only.

As X says, you'll get better info from Adobe discussions. However - good though Parallels is, you will get something of a performance hit, especially when it comes to graphic-intensive applications. There is something of an overhead to virtualisation, although nothing like as bad as it used to be.
You could get round it by using Bootcamp if you don't mind the rebooting.
But go to the Adobe groups and ask someone who knows.

  • Can I move adobe cs4 from my windows machine to my new mac mini?

can I move adobe cs4 from my windows machine to my new mac mini?

Short answer is now.  Any app that was developed on
for Windows will not run on OSX and visa versa.
However, You can create a Windows environment on
a Mac by 2 methods.  The first, create a dual boot
machine using Bootcamp and install Windows on a
seperate partion and then select which operating system
to boot into.  The second is using virtual machine products
such as VMware  Fusion  or Parallels Desktop Mac.  You
basically create a virtual Windows environment that
runs along side and concurrent with OSX.
Not sure how well this second approach will work with
any CS4 app, as they tend to be quite resource intensive.
