Adobe CS5 Encore stops working on startup.

For over a year, I have not been able to get Encore to run. It kept stop responding on strartup. Yesterday I removed the following plugins from the Plugin Folder under Encore in the Programs folder: GPUCenterPeel.prm, GPUPageCurl.prm, GPUPageRoll.prm, GPUSphere.prm and GPUSpiralFlip.prm.
Encore now runs althrough I have not tried to create a DVD yet.
The GPUCenterPeel.prm, GPUPageCurl.prm, GPUPageRoll.prm, GPUSphere.prm and GPUSpiralFlip.prm plugins appear to be Adobe Plugins.
Does anyone know what these plugins do and are they important? Is there a site that I can download a good set of these plugins if they are importat?
Thanks,
Jim

  • Need advice - "Adobe photoshop CS5 has stopped working" upon startup

    Hi All,
Hopefully someone can assist me with this as this seems to be a fairly common problem.
Basically, upon starting up PS it comes up with the error message:
"Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working..."
I'm just working off a surface pro 2 with 256gb ram, i5 processor (I think)
I’ve installed no new drivers of late and not undertaken any system changes that I can think of that would affect the program.
Funnily enough it’s the same problem across all the adobe suite e.g. illustrator and indesign both won’t start up (illustrator has the same message whereas indesign’s error message mentions that it requires a certain amount of free disk space).
Hopefully that is enough info. Please ask if there is anything else that you would need to know in order to ascertain the problem.
For reference here is the excerpt from the windows error log:
Faulting application name: Photoshop.exe, version: 12.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bbc5b10

Fingers crossed someone can help as I’m at the end of my wits here (my laptop died recently leaving me my tablet to finish some artwork for a deadline and now PS etc won’t work leaving me with nothing!).
    Cheers

    My scenario and history:
Windows Vista Ultimate and now Windows 7 Ultimate
NVidia Quadro Fx 4500 driving 4 monitors total SLi on or off - makes no difference.  Drivers irrelevant.
    2 x Xeon 5160 (so total 4 cores)
    24Gb RAM
    PS CS 4 or 5
4 monitors - - yep it is the 4 monitor thing.
    Fails everytime as you describe.
Observation - If you Remote Desktop Connection onto the computer - and so in effect are using only ONE monitor - PS works fine.
A WORKAROUND for 4 or 5 - I don't consider this a fix because you lose some functionality but it gets you 99% there and is the same workaround for CS4 or 5
    Go to<drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\    (or CS4 - depending on version)
    Locate File:
    ScriptingSupport.8li
Disable this extension by renaming the file with a tilde in front of the file name.  Thus:
    ~ScriptingSupport.8li
Start Photoshop - it works and is mainly functional.
The only real downside I have discovered is that disabling this scripting extension means you cannot use some of the built in scripts under FILE - SCRIPTS - the biggest PIA for me being the Contact Sheet builder no longer works.  But as I now use Lightroom to create contact sheets - this is not a big loss.  Other scripting functionality - I am sure is affected - but not to a point I find PS unusable.
ADOBE - if you read this - it has been that extesion now for the last two editions of PS.

  • My adobe cs5 just stopped working, my adobe cs5 just stopped working

CS5 was working and now it won't work at all try reloading and still won't work

"won't work" really doesn't tell us anything.
Either way, you better ask in the Creative Suite forum and tell them all the details, including your operating system.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Win 7, 64 bit)

I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program".
I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors.
Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia.
I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite.
The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it.
I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.
I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
As you can probably tell, I am very frustrated at this point and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Trevor

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working [Issue]

Hello everyone! I recently just purchased Adobe CS5 as being very excited as I've been a customer before the CS series! Anyways, the install and registration with Adobe was no problem what so ever, I got to uninstall CS4 quite easily, it all worked. So, I've read the other topic of "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" and this is not my problem! However, once I'm in CS5. I do a couple things, zoom in Navigation, enter some text, move a couple layers and it tells me it has stopped working. This is happening very often every so 1-3 minutes, so I've been living with it for about 2 days (IT has FINALLY passed the line, where I rip my hair out! Hehe, ). So now I'm deciding I post the problem!
    Computer Specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x86
Intel Pentium Dual Core 3.20GHz (OC)
    ATi Radeon HD 4670
    3GB DDR2

After work.. I will be upgrading video card drivers to see if this makes a difference, only solution related to my topic in Adobe FAQs.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working

I have Windows 7 I just installed Adobe photoshop CS5 Extended. It starts fine but when I start to open a picture I get the message
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working windows will shut it down.
Any ideas of what the problem is.

Mylenium, why do you feel there is a need to run the first time as Administrator?  Do you know of install failures that would leave files or registry entries with improper permissions?  I've not been hearing of this behavior with the new versions; certainly Photoshop has known about Windows' UAC feature for quite a long time.
Rjleys, I suggest that you try (before opening an image) going into Edit - Preferences - Performance and disabling the [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing setting.   Close and restart Photoshop after making this change.
If this works around the problem, you should update your video drivers from the web site of the manufacturer of your video card.  It may be that the OpenGL operations Photoshop is trying to perform may be causing a fault in your drivers, resulting in an applilcation crash.
What kind of video card do you have?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5  has stopped working (weird)

Hallo Friends, This i my first post here, hope to help me to get rid this problem of.
    well i'm using
Photoshop CS5 (Extended) With Sum Plugins
    Alien SKin Bokeh
    Nik Color Efex Pro
    Dfine
    Imagenomic Portraiture
when i had CS4, no problems were happening.
    ===
when i work with this plugins. doesn't matter which one, it sumtimes crashes and say, Adobe Photosop Has Stopped Working,
i really have no clue, how this issue can be fixed.. any suggestions would be much appreciated
    My PC
    Inter Core II Duo   (E8400
VGA Card- Nvidia 8600 GT ( I have updated the latest driver to ENABLE OPEN GL)
    2 GB OF RAM
    350 HDD
    =
    OS Vesion: Windows 7 X86

As a plugin developer myself, I can tell you that the problem is most likely in the plugin if it starts/stops working properly because of changes to the memory size allocated to Photoshop.
It's unbelievable how many people fail to program simple error handling robustness into their code - the error in this case being insufficient memory in which to work.  In most cases it takes no more effort than this:
    BufferPointer = malloc(RequiredSize);
    if (BufferPointer == NULL)
         *gResult = memFullErr;
         return;
(Note that I usually frown on return from within a module myself; this is just an example - I prefer a single function exit at the bottom)
Given that the consequence of using a bad pointer can be crashing Photoshop and the loss of the user's work, you'd think plugin designers would be more concerned with proper error handling.
    -Noel
P.S., Depending on what else you'd like to be able to do on your system while running Photoshop, it isn't out of the question to allocate quite a bit more memory than you have to Photoshop in the Performance settings  (e.g., 75% or even higher).  The thing to do is to try it.

  • CS5 Ecore stops responding on startup

I am running Windows 7 Home Preminum on an HP 17 Envy Laptop. Windows, drivers and CS5 are up to date.
Encore stops responding on start up, Windows search for a solution and closes Encore. All other CS5 Pro programs function normally.
I have tried all solutions offered on forums under the search "Adobe encore has stopped working on startup" including repairing Encore and re-installing Encore. This seems to be a common problem andthat no one has solution to fix it. I even tried installing the Roxio update that was suggested.
Apparenty this problem started with CS4 and has continued to CS6.
We are on a four month motor home trip and I need Encode for the documentry that I am working on. Encore did work for a while.
Is not Adobe interested in solving this recurring problem?
I am willing to let Adobe remotely log into my computer if it would help resolve this problem.
I can be contacted via email at [email protected]
    Jim

    Thanks Stan.
Troubleshoot damage projects does not apply as Encode stops responding, randomly during the startup phase, so I never even get to the project dialog to choose an existing project or a new project.
The “Encode has stopped responding message, Windows is looking for a solution, Windows is closing the program” messages occur no matter how I start Encore, i.e. Run as Administrator, run from hidden Administrator, or as a link from Pr.
I also tried the suggestions in the “Troubleshoot system errors and freezes” link. Encore still stops responding on startup.

  • InDesign CS5 has stopped working

I have InDesign CS5 (creative suite premium, ME version) on Windows 7, everything was working well when InDesign stopped working. I can't open the program or any InDesign files. I get this error message:
"adobe InDesign CS5 has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
i have tried re-installing the program and it doesn't help.
does anyone know of a solution - i'm desparately working against a deadline.
    thanks

    No doubt.
I'm not sure what else to try, except do it again. Make sure before installing again that you are logged in as an administrator and that User Access Control is turned off. I'd also run the configuration utility and turn off any non-essential startup programs an services, especially anti-virus, anti-malware, browserhelpers and toolbars, messengers, iTunes, and third-party firewall.

  • Photoshop CS5 has stopped working and shuts down

I purchased Photoshop CS5 in March 2011 and after trying to install software I was unable to do anything in Photoshop without getting the following error message:  "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working".  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  I was unable to open any psd file or new file withouth that error message.  After you close that error message window, Photoshop immediately closes down. I had someone from Adobe remotely fix this problem.  Now it is appearing again and I am unable to use the program.  I need help with this.  Please.

  • Adobe Setup has stopped working

    "Adobe Setup has stopped working"
Everytime I try to run Adobe installer or uninstaller the setup crashes!
    video example:
    http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cjXUiIntb

I'm having a same problem with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and with Adobe Creative Suite 5.
I tried versions 4, 5.0 and 5.5 - with all same result. Older version 3 did still install still ok. Installation of CS4 or newer immediately halts to a "Adobe Setup had stopped working" error almost immediately after starting actual installation process.
After uninstalling old CS3 version, installing CS5 or 5.5 went little more further but then crashed always when installing "Adobe Player for Embedding". Only Acrobat can be installed since it does apparently install "Adobe Playe for Embedding"
After deleting folder "c:\program file(x86)\common files\adobe\installers" I was able to go even more further, then installation halted at "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5".
I've tried full uninstall of Creative Suite, using Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, Ccleaner, CleanMyPC and disabling all services with msconfig - without any success.
Finally I ended up doing Windows 7 Ultimate Update again, which removed the problem.

  • Photoshop CS5 has stopped working while I draw.

So I have Photoshop CS5 extended and Im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
    I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 260m 1gb video card. A Asus G60Vx laptop. 4gb of ram.
So heres the story. When Im drawing on a picture it could be from 5 to 45 minutes of drawing photoshop will all of the sudden crash with the error saying "Adobe photoshop cs5 has stopped working" and i have to close the program losing all of the progress in my drawing.
I have called and talked to 3 different Adobe Reps that I can hardly understand... and have done ALL of the suggestions they have given to. From dragging the settings folder to the desktop from dragging the plugins folder to the desktop to reinstalling the program which i have done twice. Also *I use no 3rd party plugins ONLY A WACOM PEN AND TOUCH TABLET** Regarding the Tablet I have called Wacom and they have no clue of how to fix this issue either I have reinstalled it and updated the latest driver for it. Still nothing. Im am getting very upset I NEED* this for my college class... and NO ONE can help me. Everyone I talk to acts like they have no clue what to do they are just giving me steps that i follow that lead me to nothing. just the same problem. Please someone help me through this. I had been using this program and tablet FINE for like 2 or 3 months and just last week it starting doing this.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

I would also definitely clean out my drive using CCleaner and run a defragmentation. Could well be that too much fragmentation is preventing PS from expanding its temporary files beyond a certain point and then it goes belly up....
Windows 7 keeps its drives defragged all by itself and it will tell you about drives getting full.
A better approach would be to scout around in the Windows System Event Log and see if it's logging any failures.

  • Adobe reader has stopped working when opening tracker [vista & reader x]

    Hello all,
I'm a developer and im constantly uninstalling and reinstalling reader x and acrobat pro x, but i typically have both installed.  Recently, i uninstalled both reader x and acrobat x via Add/Remove Programs in windows Vista, and then later reinstalled them both, and now when i click the adobe tracker icon in my systray, it says adobe reader has stopped working.  I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and then rebooting, but that doesn't seem to help.  Event viewer says:
Faulting application AcroRd32.exe, version 10.0.1.434, time stamp 0x4d456f48, faulting module mshtml.dll, version 9.0.8080.16413, time stamp 0x4d4cefa9, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x002be0d0, process id 0x1674, application start time 0x01cc04f02e5354a8.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks!

This is strange. Can you try a couple of things:
    1. Try launching Tracker in Acrobat. In Acrobat X, you will find it in Comment pane->Review->Track Reviews
    2. Launch Reader in non-sandbox mode. For this, launch Reader and uncheck the option 'Enable Protected Mode at startup' in Reader Preferences->General. Close and re-launch Reader. Now launch Tracker.
Does it still crash in both the cases?
