Adobe CS5 in Snow Leopard (upgrading from Leopard)

I've heard that there can be a lot of problems with your Adobe CS5 programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) when you're upgrading to Snow Leopard from Leopard. Does anyone know something about this, and can one consider it 'safe' to upgrade regarding the use of those CS5 programs?
Many thanks.

Uhhh... No problems to report of of CS5 in Snow Leopard... I have not upgraded my Macs so I may have skewed results. I archive my home folder to my external drive, and then erase the disk and install the new Mac OS.
I will say that Photoshop and Bridge are my favorite applications to use for my panorama photography! It's a dream!

  • Print Booklet to PDF in Indesign CS5 on Snow Leopard?

Moving our 200 clients over to CS5 and Snow Leopard and finding out that our one coarse creates booklets and during testing it was noticed that you can't create a pdf from a booklet.
How does one do this under Snow Leopard now??
    Thanks,

Yea but look right below your circle.  Everything has a white background and looks like it was just thrown there.  Its a wonder they didn't make the "User Accounts and Family Safety" text the same blue color as the other stuff.  Luckily the icon is there to help but its hard on the eyes in my opinion.
In OS X System Preferences aka Control Panel its far easier to get around in.  If it was Windows 7 it would all be a solid color....see how Personal section is lighter than the Hardware section and it then flip flops as it goes.   Looking at the Windows 7 Control Panel and other things its just a bad visual design.
But this isn't the place to be talking about this so this will be my last post unless its about PDF printing and Snow Leopard.  Thanks.....

  • CS4, Adobe Updater, and Snow Leopard

Hello, all.  I have installed my copy of CS4 onto a fresh install of Snow Leopard.  The adobe updater does not recognize any new updates.  I did, however, go to the updates section and download the newest version of camera raw and CS4 11.0.1.
Has anyone else been able to update CS4?  Any suggestions?  If I recall, I believe there were Bridge updates, etc, since the original release of CS4.  I have the original DMG of CS4 for Photoshop, without the patches.
    Thanks,

I am also in the camp of not receiving new updates from Adobe Updater in Snow Leopard.  I did a fresh install as was mentioned earlier as well (erase the disk, install Snow Leopard, followed by Software Update to get 10.6.1 and then installed CS4).  Adobe Updater didn't find any updates... Then I installed most (if not all by hand) and then Camera Raw 5.5 came out and I still didn't see any updates.  I did end up installing that one by hand as well, but before I did that I lookad at the aum.log file and saw these messages around the Camera Raw queries...

But then again I see those same messages in my 10.5.7 system that works fine... So it doesn't look like it logs anything to explain why its not finding any updates.
I may try uninstalling and reinstalling just to see if that helps... Would be nice to get a resolution to this.

  • I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Pro

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Production Tools on both computers?

This is quite odd. I wonder if you could try something for me on EACH computer.
Use Help > About Adobe Acrobat DC.
At the top of the box it should say Adobe Acrobat Pro DC or Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.
On each of the two machines, what does it say? (I think something odd has happened)

  • How can I restore proper PDF exports from InDesign CS3 or CS5 in Snow Leopard?

I had no problems exporting PDFs from InDesign CS3 (on a Mac Pro running 10.6.4 Snow Leopard) until this past weekend, when all the fonts appeared bitmapped or thin and raggedy, and the images lost some color depth and contrast. When I copied the InDesign document to my MacBook Pro laptop, also running 10.6.4, the PDF emerged with its original quality. Calls to Adobe support referred me to documents concerning incompatibilities between InDesign and Snow Leopard. One of these documents was several pages long, but I could not print it from the Adobe website to my HP All-In-One Officejet, because one-third of the document was hidden under a white panel. This makes the document impractical for troubleshooting, because I don't have enough screen real estate (even on a 23-inch display) to keep the document open along with all the pages and dialogue boxes needed for reference. Back to phone and chat support, I was advised to upgrade my Creative Suite Premium CS3 to CS5 ($800!!!) and purchase the latest Acrobat Pro upgrade ($200), with no guarantee that this $1,000 cost would actually solve the problem. I did download the trial version of InDesign CS5, and it did NOT solve the problem. I'm also concerned that the problem did not exist until last weekend. Prior to that, my CS3 and Snow Leopard combination worked just fine. I then checked the forums and was dismayed at the variety of problems associated with PDF files, for which there seems to be no general fix. Meanwhile, I have hundreds of ads I'm supposed to be preparing and emailing as PDF proofs to businesses around the country. I have two books of 120 and 256 pages that need to be submitted to printers in PDF format with all kinds of fonts and image files belonging to my clients. The last time I submitted a book to a printer via email, the job went perfectly. This time, and next, it's obvious I won't be able to send PDFs at all! If that's the case, my 27-year-old directory business will be unable to absorb the expenses necessary to start all over with new computers and software, and I will be out of business. Period. So-- does anyone have a way to fix this? I would surely be grateful.
    David Henderson

I'm on a local network, built on Apple's Airport Extreme. but I'm the only computer user on it. I use it for transferring files between the desktop computer (Apple Mac Pro) and laptop (Apple MacBook Pro) and, occasionally, to print from the laptop to a Xerox Phaser printer.
About a year ago, I added an Apple Airport Express to the network, allowing me to play iTunes music from the laptop through a Panasonic BluRay player connected to a home theatre sound system. No problems of this nature appeared with that installation.
About four months ago, we connected a DirecTV satellite receiver system to the D-Link router that carries wired network service from the desktop computer to the Xerox printer. The satellite TV system includes a series of modems that allows DVR recordings to be accessed and played from any of the TVs in the house. (As you would now perceive, I run my publishing business from my home). However, this set-up has been functioning for about four months, and I did not encounter the PDF problem until last weekend.
    Now -- about the fonts.
Because of the many ads that I publish from various sponsors, it is possible that different versions of the same fonts have invaded my system. In the "missing font" alerts I get, InDesign frequently is seeking TT or T1 versions, which I replace with Adobe fonts when possible. Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium included a fairly large collection, which it keeps in one folder.  The Apple OS also includes a bunch in a separate font management folder; and there are carry-over fonts that came with the business when I acquired it 10 years ago. Some of those fonts may go back 25 years to the book's inception. However, in the past several years, I have generally rebuilt all the ads that appear in my publications, substituting newer versions of fonts. Hence, the preflight program has been able to locate and include all the necessary fonts in the packages that go to the printers.
Once again, I have been able to export good PDF files for all the varieties of ads and books included in my system, until last weekend. One of the documents is built entirely with Helvetica Narrow, for which I have only one version.. Another document consists mainly of Times, and there are 3 or 4 versions of that font in the system; but the version contained in the document has not changed from when it exported properly.
So... I guess the complexities involved in the network and/or fonts could be part of the problem, as you suggest, but golly -- I hope not. The last thing I want to do is disrupt and rebuild the network or font collections. The font situation especially would set back production for months if not years, because so many individual ads and off-site clients would be involved in the process.
I'm sorry if I provided more details than you expected. I didn't mean to take so much of your time.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe CS2 and Snow Leopard

    Hi everyone,
I have a MacBook Pro with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. I installed CS2 months ago with no problem, but since I've upgraded to Snow Leopard I've come across some issues. I had to do a complete wipe and used Snow Leopard instead of the original DVD that came with the laptop (at the suggestion of my IT guy) because of another issue with one of my accounts and since then, some programs need Rosetta to get them opened initially. The only one I'm having a real issue with is my CS2. I can't afford to upgrade, which is why I'm still with CS2. I get the following message: "An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application."
I have uninstalled, reinstalled and am still getting the same message. Does anyone have any ideas how I can remedy this situation besides upgrading to the newest version.
    Thanks,
    Jena

I have been using CS2 for a while, and since I installed Snow Leopard, InDesign CS2 is the one which has given me the most difficult time. Apparently, Rosetta and the PostScript language have some problems communicating together. As soon as I have to do something which involve transparency setting (pasting a graphic from Illustrator, trying to make a PDF which contains an imported Illustrator file...), the application crashes. I tried from InDesign directly (almost never works), from the Print menu (ditto), and sometimes I succeed in making a PS file that goes successfully through Distiller.
I didn't have much trouble with Illustrator and Photoshop, though. The only thing It seems I can do is trying to find me a legit copy of CS4, if such a thing still exists.

  • Can I use Adobe CS1 on Snow Leopard?

Does anyone have an authoritative answer ? I have the original CS software and need a new Mac. I've heard conflicting reports about 10.6 running the old CS. Should I look for a computer with 10.5?

I suspect what ya get depends partly on what other "things" you have installed, perhaps the purity of one's system has an effect. I had a fresh and pretty much unmodified version of Leopard (no haxies, no batch of fonts other than the system ones, no programs to speak of except Apple's, and so on) that I updated to Snow Leopard.
Also, the reason I haven't updated the CS1 is that I discovered I could do pretty much everything I wanted to do using Photoshop Elements, which can be purchased for 100 bucks or less (depending on where you buy it), and I had gotten sick of Adobe's exorbitant upgrade prices. So I'm now using Elements 99% of the time, I only launch CS1 on very rare occasions to do a couple of things that can't be done using Elements (generally it is creating custom effects and saving them). Depending on exactly what you do, you may not need CS at all. Check out the features for the latest version of Elements for the Mac:

That may be all you need.

  • Adobe CS2 and Snow Leopard  - do I have to buy CS4 to use SL?????

    That is RIDICULOUS!!!!
In order to use Snow Leopard I have to spend 1,000 in a new CS suite!!????
Adobe is in debt with all the CS, CS2 and CS3 users who can't install a new OS on their Macs
because there is no support for CS old Versions.
    Shame on you Adobe!!!
We demand a patch to solve this situation!!!
    Old CS users United!!!!

Have you yet complained to St. Steve of Cupertino that Apple does so little to maintain application compatibility when they release new versions of their operating systems?
It is a primary rule of operating system development and maintenance that you maintain full compatibility with existing applications and not break such compatibility just for the purpose of being "neat and cool, cool and neat."
If you are willing to spend time and $$$$ to upgrade your operating system to a new and incompatible version, you should be prepared to also spend money for versions of applications that had to be seriously rejiggered to work with these incompatibilities.
Adobe didn't break compatibility, Apple did. Complain to them!

  • Adobe Reader with Snow Leopard

New user here, doe's anyone have a problem with Adobe Reader 8.1 working with Snow Leopard? It just won't pop up in Safari or any other browser when needed to view or read or print.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Jeff

If you want to use the Adobe Reader PDF plugin for Safari you probably need to launch Safari in 32-bit mode. Select Safari in the Applications folder and then do Cmd-I (Get Info) and check the box labeled:
    Open in 32-bit mode
I have Adobe Reader 9.1.3 installed and it works fine, but I don't use the embedded PDF plugin, I just use the Apple one that comes with Safari.

  • Adobe Document Services: How to upgrade from ADS SP 9 to ADS SP 15

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me that how I can upgrade from ADS SP9 to ADS SP15.
I have downloaded the files ADSSAP15_0-20000262.SCA and ADSSAPOFF15_0-20000262.SCA.
Can anyone tell me the procedure for upgrading i.e Is there anything which is to undeploy regarding ADS SP9 or directly to deploy it through SDM and which of these above two files to deploy first through SDM or something else to do first.
    Regards
    Deep

    Hey Deep,
    you have to do following:
    1. Deploy these two files using SDM
    2. Undeploy DocumentServicesBinaries using SDM
    3. Remove the alias "ReaderRights" from "Document Services Configuration" in the Visual Administrator
    4. Move the Credential file to the directory <INSTDIR>/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/TrustManagerService/trust/credentials
    5. Go back to the Visual Administrator and register the "ReaderRights" again
    6. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine

  • Is CS5.5 a free upgrade from CS5?

Is cs5.5 a free upgrade, where do i go to get it, and how much does it cost?

No. CS 5.5 was a paid upgrade. Anyway, it's a moot point. Now only CS6 is available.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 and Snow Leopard OS

I just bought a MacBook because of the great graphics capabilities, etc.  I have used Dreamweaver in the past, but never on a Mac.  I just downloaded the TRIAL of the Web Design Creative Suite and loaded it.  When I launch DW, I get the prompt to enter the activation code or use as trial, 30 days remaining.  Then the ONLY thing I get is a Dreamweaver in the status bar where the various open apps appear.  My options are Service, Hide Dreamweaver, Hide Others, and Quit Dreamweaver.  I made sure I closed all other windows because I wanted to make sure that nothing is missing, but that is allI get.  There is no option to create a site, no option to open pages of any kind, nothing but the item I described.
I removed the entire suite thinking it may have installed wrong, downloaded the Master suite, same thing.  Since then I have tried the same packages on my Windows (UGH) machine and it works fine.
Not sure if there is a problem with compatibility, problem with the app itself, or there is some other issue I am not looking for correctly.  Like I said, I am new to Mac, had this MacBookPro for 3 weeks.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Yes, but there was nothing in it except quit, services, etc. The dreamweaver splash screen never showed. Interestingly, I followed someone else's advice, created a new user, and Dreamweaver opened fine in the new user's account. It seems to be interacting with something left over from Dreamweaver CS4 in my original account. Now, to use it I have to log into the alternative account. Not ideal but a workaround, however annoying.

  • Not able to open Canon 6D raw file in PS CS5! Can i Upgrade from CS5 to CS6?

I recently purchased the Canon 6D. I'm running Photoshop CS5 on my windows computer. I want to work in Camera Raw but I need version CS6 in order to do so. I'm having great difficulty getting a link to purchase the upgrade. I need help, please.

I just want to point that out for ACR is the reason I signed up for the cloud.  Which actually lowered my cost of Photoshop.  I had always upgraded to Photoshop standard to get ACR. So Photoshop cost me the initial cost of Photoshop standard $700 and around $100 a year for upgrading.   Now Photoshop cost $120 a year but it for the extended version of Photoshop and I could also Lightroom if I wanted.
Some day maybe I will need Lightroom.   Adobe keep changing Photoshop removing features like Web Galleries and Picture Package, Add things to the Adobe Bridge like poorer Web Galleries and the export panel where panel convert image files to jpeg without opening Photoshop. Add features like Oil Painter to Photoshop then removes Oil painter  make Bridge output module an optional download removes the export panel from the Bridge and put an export feature in Ligthroom.
ACR is well integrated into Bridge  as a plug-in and in Photoshop as a plugin and filter.  Bridge also works well with other Adobe Applications according to some thing I have read.  Lightroom on the other hand is not well intergrated with Adone Applications like Photoshop.  Lightroom can use external programs like Photoshop to enable  users to edit image in ways the Lightroon can not however the image files then are not compatible with lightroom   you would need to save flatten image file to use with lightroom and loose your work layers.  I don't waste my disk space  with lightroon  and it huge library database system.  I don't run a Photography Business I'm a retired men of leisure...

  • Hello Adobe! Is there an upgrade from Lightroom Six to Lightroom Five? (Not a Typo!)

Hope that gets someone's attention. I have used Lightroom since the original software belonged to someone other than Adobe. My first Copy of LR was version one which I received free because I had purchased a lifetime subscription to the software that Adobe bought and converted to Lightroom.
Now I have a subscription to CC and cannot get the LR update to version SIX to run after downloading and installing. This happens with every LR major upgrade (such as from 3 to 4,  4 to 5, and now 5 to 6). Seems like it would at least work in the CC version.
After downloading and installing LR6 I get this message when trying to upgrade:  "Lightroom.exe - System Error: The program can't start because amtlib.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." REINSTALLING DID NOT HELP!"  WHERE SHOULD I GO/WHAT SHOULD I TRY NEXT?
    Thank you! ..... anyone???

Yes there's an update available. You'll find it in the Adobe shop. On the Lightroom entry you can choose between "Full version" and Update/Upgrade.
