Adobe CS6 is out! new DPS features?

Adobe CS6 is out! Will that bring new features to DPS or viceversa?
Thank you,
al3nai

I am so excited CS6 is finally out
There's one big feature that should interest DPS folks: alternate layouts. In InDesign CS6 you can now have one InDesign file that contains layouts for multiple orientations and/or devices.
Here's one easy example of where that's helpful: no more "_H" and "_V" files littering your machine. Just one InDesign document that has both H and V inside. Here's another example: one file that has your iPad and your Kindle Fire layouts in it.
The best part about this is the text is linked between the layouts, so if you have to make a text change somewhere you can do it once, the links panel will indicate the other layouts are out-of-date, and you can update the link to make the change ripple across the other layouts in the file. Typo correction is now far less painful.
You can also use the new page rules feature to define ways for InDesign to automatically create layouts for you. For example, you can start with an iPad layout, apply some page rules, and generate the Kindle Fire layout.
One small feature to look forward to: you can directly paste HTML snippets into your file and automatically get a web overlay with that HTML.
Note that to actually produce folios using the above you'll need the next release of DPS. The current release (v19) does not support CS6.

  • Adobe CS6.0 out of memory error on iMac (early 2009)

    Hi:
Adobe CS6.0 Photoshop is returning "Out of Memory (RAM)" errors and is unusable on a lab of iMacs.
The system exceeds Adobe minimum specs (1GB ram).
Our school has a lab of computers with both Adobe CS5.5 and Adobe CS6.0 Master Collection installed on a lab of iMacs (early 2009).
The computers all have 4GB of memory and come with an NVidia GeForce 9400M 256MB video card.
I notice that this video card shares ram with the main system.
CS5.5 runs perfectly well but CS6.0 is not co-operating.
We have updated Photoshop to version 13.04 and have run Apple's Software Update (latest version).
I have looked online and this is a known problem with computers that have Adobe CS5 & 6 installed with Mac OS10.7.x but only on certain video cards.
There are people out there with 32 GB ram having the same problem.
I'm guessing the answer may be to update the video card drivers somehow.
    Your input is greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    ODrew

    Hi ODrew,
I'm shocked you can operate OK with only 4GB of RAM, that certainly wasn't enough for my 2007 iMac to not continually slow down!?
    CS6 Sys requiremnts...
    Mac OS
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7, or v10.8**
    4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
4GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space required for preview files and other working files (10GB recommended)
    1280x900 display
7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured, recommended)

  • Can not install Adobe CS6 on my new Macbook

Hello, I was installing Adobe CS6 last night on my macbook pro when the battery died on it. After booting it back up I tried to restart the installation but now I get this message every time I try to open the installer: "We've encountered the following issues: Adobe installer is already running. Please close other Adobe installers and select retry option to continue this installation" The only thing is though is that I have not opened any other installation after booting my macbook back up. Please help me!

You can check in the Activity Monitor for Setup.exe process running for Adobe, you can quit that processes and then check.
Else restart the machine in the safe mode and try to install the software.

  • Why is adobe demanding revshare for new flash features?

This to me is a horrifically low blow from adobe.
In a market where everyone gets a cut, adobe is claiming that charging will make flash better, but from where I am standing it makes it worse. For example if I am using flash to develop a Facebook game, Facebook already takes a 30 percent cut, then on top of it having to pay 9 percent to adobe? that's a huge deal and an immediate turn off.
Now they say that air will be unaffected, but I can only assume that if air on mobile becomes at all successful, what will stop them from doing the same?
I have been an enthusiastic flash developer for years and have been fully behind air for mobile development but this move may be a death blow as far as I am concerned. Adobe, if you care about your feature, please don't do this .  .  . You will drive people away from your product instead of bringing them closer.

The problem I have with this is the slippery downward slope. The implications here are that anyone who uses flash for profit, may be looking at other revenue requirements soon. Obviously just installing the flash player doesn't meet that requirement, but they worded it very carefully. If I were to make a Facebook game in the browser, I would read this as absolutely I would have to pay a cut, if I wanted to use advanced features.
Now air, they are letting slip by, for now. But they were very specific to point to a "for now" approach. I don't think I am overreacting. I have been a flash developer for years, working at a company that makes revenue through flash, and I am currently exploring different mobile technologies. I have had amazing success with air, but if elements of it demand rev share, I will walk away (I have intentionally walked away from other cross platforms for their requirements of rev share).  Granted, the current roadmap would not put me in a place to cross the line into rev share requirements, but that's only currently.
When a business picks a technology to use, that is a fairly big investment. It means hiring people with those skills, or training them. Especially dealing with small businesses or startups, a shift into revshare concepts coming from the technology base is a very serious issue that can make or break small companies.
My point here is not to run around in adobes house yelling "fire!" but when there is no clear winner on the browser and mobile technology front, I would ask the company to not start going down a path that can make their technology no longer an economically viable one.

  • Photoshop Help | New video features in CS6

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/new-video-features-photoshop-cs6.html

The heading says "import." But the actual technique to bring an audio file into a video project in PS CS6  is to use the "Add Audio" command accessed via the drop-down triangle in an Audio track. That opens the Add Audio Clips dialog box. But WAV is not a file type available to be added to an audio track. If you choose the Open menu command, you'll find that WAV files also are not available to be added via that route as well.
If you do as JJ Mack suggests and drag a WAV file to the document window, it will show up in the Layers panel and it will be added to the Timeline as if it were a video clip. And, even though WAV files are not supported, the audio will play. So, JJMack's method is a work-around for the failure of PS to support WAV files via the Add Audio technique.

  • Camera raw 8.6 does not have new preview features

Hi, I have just discovered that my version of Camera raw does not have the new preview features (the "Y" split) down the right corner.
I have seen in some tutorial video that the new preview tool look like this,
but my CR 8.6 still has the old preview tool like this,
I am not sure why that is, I am running CR 8.6 on a mac with Photoshop CS6, is the new preview feature only available for CC?
    Thank.

Yes, that is correct that photoshop cs6 and camera raw do not get the new features, just updated camera support.

  • Using the New Video Features in Photoshop CS6 | Photoshop CS6 Feature Tour | Adobe TV

Adobe Digital Imaging Evangelist Julieanne Kost shows how to use the new video features in Photoshop CS6.
    http://adobe.ly/I5cUF2

I am removing a dust spot from video clips taken during an aerial shoot. I have discovered that the only effective way to remove these spots effectively is to use PS6 and go frame by frame using the paint brush, clone stamp, and spot healing brush. It is very time consuming and mind numbing but the only thing that works with all tha movement of the aircraft and the ground below.
    My question:
Right now to advance the clip one frame at a time - I must magnify the time line so to see the frame by frame lables. To advance to the next frame I must remove my cursor from the work area and go down to the time line and click on the next frame.
How can I advance to the next frame with a keyboard stroke and not move my cursor out of the work area?
Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Adobe CS6 - Breaking News!

Some members of the Adobe CS team(Dennis Radeke and 2 others - sorry, forgot their names, but they were PPro/AME team people) were in attendance at the Atlanta Cutters meeting last night. You'll all be happy to know that they revealed quite a bit about the next version - CS6. Here's the quickie info on CS6, I've quoted as carefully as I can:
    - "It's coming in 2012"
    - "It's going to be amazing"
    - "It's pretty exciting"
I hope they don't get fired for revealing all of that info. I'm sure you all are very excited, as I was last night, to be able to gain such an early look at the next generation of video editing.
In all seriousness, they were very good at the one thing they were really there to do - convert FCP dissidents - and answered a few questions people had - again, mostly about migrating from FCP. Quite nice to hear my FCP friends talking afterward about how it's a done deal, Adobe is the here-and-now. All this in spite of the fact that Media Composer 6 is basically here now as well.
Sorry to get everybody all excited with the thread title...I really couldn't help myself. It was refreshing, though, to see not 1, not 2, but 3 reps from Adobe at a relatively small user group meeting in Atlanta (150 attendees, more or less) and this is after they've already been out here once this year. Says a lot about the development of the production community here in Atlanta for the last few years, but also says a lot about Adobe's committment to listening to their customers and working constantly to solve problems and develop new solutions that fit our various workflows. I still remember the old days where Premiere Pro was seemingly an unsupported piece of Adobe refuse, meant simply to fill a gap and keep people working with AE. Those days are as long-gone as they can be now, and the good times are rolling on.

I wanted so bad to read this thread and get excited the way I used to about Adobe product launches. But not today. You Adobe folks just don't get it. FIXING THE DISASTEROUS BUGS that your products have ought to be the no-doubt-number-one-and-there-is-no-question-about-it priority. I con't give a crap about a bunch of new buggy features added to an already buggy product when I feel like I got ripped off with the last upgrade. Seriously, how can you guys sleep?
I've submitted many, many bug reports to Adobe over the past year or two - in particular pertaining to the very well known constant crashes and memories leaks in both Dreamweaver and Fireworks - and not only has Adobe not made any progress in improving the reliability of these products, but they have the audacity to release competitive products and offer pseudo-upgrades like "FIREWORKS CS5.1" in the CS5.5 package, and WITHOUT even fixing the problems Fireworks had OR adding ANY new features,  AND YET they ask us to pay for the upgrade?!?!? Seriously, WTF? My wife an I are both UI developers and we use different computers, different make/model, different preferences, software and setups, and I can't count how ofter we look at each other and say "Dreamweaver just crashed again lol". It's disgusting. I'm not alone in this opinion by a long shot.
But the worst part of all is the insulting replies or dismissive comments from Adobe employees suggesting that all of us "obviously-edge-case" users sumit bug reports when the things we're complaining about are extremely well known, described and discussed, happen extremely often during routine use of Adobe products, and are in all other ways extremely typical-of-adobe-products bugs.
I'm a big supporter of submitting bug reports  crashes and wierd UI behaviors. But I'm not a beta tester, I paid like $2500 for this crap. And the bugs aren't rare, and they are can't be described within the context of a specific action or operation. Rather we are being asked to submit bug reports for things like "Dreamweaver crashes while I'm eating lunch and I'm not at my computer", literally, or "Dreamweaver crashes when I'm typing" - again, literally, or "Dreamweaver crashes when it's launching" or "Dreamweaver crashes when I do a save". It's just infuriatingly patronizing. Adobe employees know full well that their products crash hella-often, and they know full well that we're pissed about it. How about you apologize AND fix the problems, and then start trying to con us into your next updgrade. Maybe I don't get it, but it seems like common sense to fix the problems first. Once that's out of the way we would be happy to focus on submitting feature requests and supporting Adobe's rabid launching of canaballistic products that alienate current ripped-off customers.

The CC version will not activate with your perpetual CS6 license. Download the version from here:

  • Adobe recommends: New CSS features in Dreamweaver CS5

Over  the next week, we are going to be publicizing some high-value content from adobe.com and other community sites. We have been tracking what's    been most important to our users, and feel that getting this content out to the larger community will go a long way toward helping people tackle some of their most pressing challenges.
Continuing our trip along the CSS highway, our next recommendation is a video by Dremeaver superstar Brian Wood:
New CSS features in Dreamweaver CS5
The video demonstrates some of the most exciting new CSS features in Dreamweaver: new CSS layouts, CSS inspect, and CSS enable/disable.
Give it a spin and let us know what you think!

Use Dreamweaver CS 5.5 to package your web application for iOS and Android devices
Customizing a Spry Menu Bar widget

Thanks for the answer this is very useful however I still find that Dreamwever defaults back to writing in CSS, I have to go to the manel every time and switch from CSS style to Inline style which is very irritating. Is there any way to disable writing in CSS all together like their used to be in CS3..in the preferences.
    Much appreciated

    New #AJAVideo Mac & Windows Plug-Ins for @Adobe #CS6 now available! Read more http://bit.ly/IfTKL9 download http://bit.ly/JcwWfx

    First off - yay.
In the little amount of time I have had to test, the first thing I notice is that the video out to my ext. monitor seems to lag by a few frames from the program monitor in Pr.  AJA support is great in their help, but I'm wondering before I bother them, is anyone else seeing this - is there a setting to be tweaked?
Also, the video out is looking a touch soft to me - I have a Flanders Scientific Grade 1 monitor, so it is not the hardware.  I may need to test this a bit more with other footage, but it was my first impression.  Wonder if the settings here need to be tweaked as well.
I had visions that Transmit would output the hoverscrub, but it looks like you have to click on the clip and play back before it is displayed exernally.  But, on second thought, I don't know how that would be utilized, since the video out would have to suddenly switch every time you hover your mouse over the clips in the bins.
Having said all that, I am thrilled to finally have this driver!

  • How do I uninstall Adobe CS6 Design Standard from my machine? Program is not listed in "Programs and Features".

I have Adobe CS6 Design Standard Installed on my machine and I now have a new machine that I need to put this on. I am trying to uninstall it from my old machine because I need to have the "license" available. However, the adobe programs are not listed in my Windows 7 uninstall dialog box.  I assume I uninstalled something on accident (Adobe Application Manager?) that is causing this issue.
I have the physical disc for the CS6 Design Standard. Please I need some help understanding how to uninstall the programs...I can still use them and they are simply icons on my desktop but not listed in my "Programs and Features" dialog box.
I appreciate any assistance you may provide.

Awesome!  Deactivating worked...I knew there was something - I just didn't know where to look.  Thanks so much.  As far as uninstalling the programs, what you said worked perfectly - a little backwords...but its my own fault!
Thanks and i'm soooooo happy that this only took 1/100th of the time that it took to transfer my AutoCAD License!
