Adobe CS6 Photoshop

Mr Waller was helping me but I lost the thread access. I will start over. I have Adobe CS5 Photoshop. I purchased hard copy CS6 photoshop upgrade from Adobe. It says "Adobe Photoshop CS6" on the front of the box. My concern before opening is the sticker on the side of the box that says "Upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite 5" The sticker has a whole bunch of other smaller wording but too much to type. Is this a legit upgrade for a stand alone version of photoshop??

I assume you're trying to upgrade from Photoshop CS5 standalone to a CS6 Creative Suite (which one?).
Unfortunately Photoshop CS5 standalone is not eligible to upgrade to a CS6 Suite.
That's a change in upgrade policy by Adobe starting with CS6.

Adobe CS6 Photoshop always opens a previous file.

Why is it that when ever I launch CS6 Photoshop does it automatically open a file that I worked on previously? The file (at this point) is always the same file and is was worked on over a month ago.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention Photoshop is all up-to-date and I am seeing this on Mac OS versions: OS X 10.6.8 but not on Mac OS X 10.8.2.

i tried to go to photoshop - preferences - performance it only show my scratch disk tick on Mac, there is no option to delete or something. I just migrate from windows to Mac, so i still don't know a lot about Mac...

Mac Adobe CS6 Photoshop Window Issue

In previous versions of Photoshop on Apple, the toolbars are fixed to the outside of the screen and the inside of the app is empty (seeing the windows or desktop below it). Adobe Illustrator CS6 still displays like I just described. However, Photoshop CS6 it is one window that is scalable (like I would expect on a Windows machine).

I've looked through all the preferences and options. I've looked around online and haven't seen this question asked, but I apologize if its a duplicate.

What you're looking for is to disable the Application Frame setting. Go to Window - Application Frame in the main menu.

Using Dell Latitude D630 with Intel 965 Express Chipset with Adobe CS6 Photoshop 3D features

Here is my configuration:
- I am using Windows 7, 4-bit OS
- Dell Latitude D630, which comes with Intel Mobile 965 Express Chipset and Accelleration Drivers.
- If I press CTRL-ALT-F12, I can see the Intel Graphics Media Acccelerator Driver GUI. There are 3D settings
configuration, which are labelled with OpenGL, and a bunch of values that can flipped on and off. So, I have some
warm fuzzy that OpenGL is enabled on my systme.
- When I look at the details of the driver, it says 9/23/2009, driver version 8.15.10.1930. If I attempt to update
driver, and select search automatically, "Windows determined the driver software for your device is up to date".
So, this gives me some warm fuzzy that I'm on the latest driver.
When I open up PhotoShop CS6, and click on Edit->Preferences->Performance, Detected Graphics processor
is grayed out and I am told that I need to upgrade either my driver or my card. Well, I'm on a laptop so that might
be an issue.
My driver seems to support OpenGL, so is there some configuration thing I can do to get Photoshop to recognize my
video accelerator to make this work?   Or am I out of luck with using 3D and accelerated features with this laptop?

I did try to go through the Intel driver upgrade process.
Visited http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu (Intel Driver update Utility) with IE.
Detected my graphics drivers and indicated that:
Product Detected
Intel® GM965
                Current Driver Installed
                8.15.10.1930
Your driver is current.
So, nothing useful there.   What I find puzzling is the when I hit CTRL-ALT-F12 and click on 3D settings, there
are plenty of configuraiton choices for OpenGL, with many settings being Off.   So, I was hoping that either (a)
there is some combination of choices with these OpenGL options to enable enough of it so that Photoshop CS6 3D features
would work, or (b) maybe registry settings to hack at to "enable" OpenGL or some way of getting Adobe software to try to
rediscover the accelleration support once I change the settings.

What are the best motherboards for the i7 4770k cpu for adobe CS6 Photoshop and Premiere

I am building a system as I will be entering a few university courses where I will be learning digital photography as well video and video editing. I would long to build a good i7 system that will work well with the Photoshop CS6 suite. I am looking at building it around the i7 4770k CPU. I have read so many reviews over the past couple weeks that I think my head is about to rupture. I am note sure if I will move to 2 GPU's in the future but it might be possible even though I read the architecture of the 4th generation doesnt have enough pathways for 2 cards to run on PCIe 16. Anyhow, my eyes are waiting to see the suggestions for mainboard options as well as any other hardware you would suggest (for the case I am torn between the AZZA Genesis and the Cooler Master Stryker Full tower). Oh yes... also a decent monitor suggestion would be helpful... I was looking at the Asus ProArt PA248Q and the LG 23.8" AH-IPS Monitor (24EA53V-P).

That is about as useful as not looking at Newegg ratings at all. They are worthless. It says more about people who have short-circuited their board during installation and RMA'ed it, than about the quality of the board.

Adobe Creative Suite Design CS6 - PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator immediately shuts down after startup

I'm troubleshooting for a customer who have Adobe Creative Suite Design CS6.
His programs suddenly wont start, they launches and starts to read plug-ins and open up a workspace, but then without warning/error it shuts down. no log, error message or anything...
It's the same for PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator both in 32 bit and 64.
He is running the suit on a Hp EliteBook 8560p with Windows 7 Pro x64 sp1.
He also have had a Wacom Bamboo CTE 650 penpad installed before.
This is what I've done so far:
* Uninstall the whole suit and reinstalled it again (Done this 3-4 times, manually deleted regestry-files, used CClean and other cleaning tools)
* Deleted the wacom-drivers with controlpanel tool, Windows driver Clean tool, CClean and manually deleted registry-keys and files.
* Uninstall Anti-Virus software and replaced it with another, inactivated AV and Windows Firewall.
* Deleted register-files for the suits and "reregister" them again.
* Full patch both for windows and adobe softwares.
* Reboot between each step
Any suggestions?
I have to add that adobe support for this $2000 software really sucks...

Problem solved!
I went through all the folders associated with adobe cs6 and renamed them (one by one) so they would be recreated.
I did this before but seems like I missed this specific one.
Anyway, when I renamed the folder "SLCache" in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ and then ran the applications one by one as administrator I was prompted to enter a serial-key again and log in to my Adobe-ID.

Adobe cs6: extracting files, installer detects issues. Using Photoshop, the program crashes quickly.

I'm in the process of downloading Adobe cs6, and when I extract the downloaded files, installer detects a machine restart is pending, but even after restarting the computer, and retrying to extract the files the issue persists. So I tried ignoring the problem, (as that is one of the options) and completing the download, but then when I go ahead and use Photoshop, I only get to use it for less than 20 seconds and the program completely shuts down. I have no clue how to fix this problem.
I've tried unistalling Adobe cs6 and reistalling it multiple times, but no luck.
I've also downloaded the update published by adobe today (11/26/2012) but i still have this problem.
I don't know how to solve this issue, doesn anyone have any suggestions as how to fix it?
i'm using windows 7, and AMD Professional firepro graphics card

Can I open a CS6 Photoshop file in Adobe Photoshop Touch for Phone?

I am trying to rountrip a ps file to/from Adobe Photoshop Touch for Phone to/from CS6 Photoshop on a mac. Is it possible? It seems (so far) I can create a .psdx on the phone and edit on my desktop, but once editing in CS6 PS, I can't get that file back on the phone for editing. Any ideas... or is it a one way street from phone to desktop right now? thx!!!

Hi there,
In general, the .psd format is fairly backwards compatible. To help get your files ready to be opened in CS3, follow this process:
1) Go to Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling.
2) In the menu, make sure Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility is set to always.
Just in case, you may also want to save your file as a .TIFF, which is a format that will also preserve your layers and is able to be opened in older versions.

If you didn't have the opportunity to deactivate the installations then you should contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations for all the serial numbers involved.

Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache. If it continues to fail try using a different browser.

Just re-installed a fresh copy of CS6 Photoshop on my Yosemite Mac Book Pro and somehow the Adobe Application Manager does not work and therefore cannot verify my copy. What should I do?
I get a message saying that Adobe Application Manager may be damaged and that I should install a new version of AAM. But after downloading a fresh copy of AAM and doing the install, the program (AAM) still will not install. It is like an infinite loop!

I'm sorry but I am not on Creative Cloud. I'm still on CS6 and it was the Adobe Application Manager that wasn't working and I could not install the update to this application. My AAM version is: 8.0.0160
The link you provided was the update that I wanted to install but it does not work. A window shows up during that install that says:
We've encountered the following issues.
Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.
and then the link to the Adobe Support Advisor which leads to a "Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued" page.

Which version of Photoshop do you have? The current version is 13.0.6.

Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, Photoshop CC won't read the card drivers and says I need to reinstall them and disabled 3D funtions as a result. Anyone else with this issue?

Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, I upgraded to Adobe CC and Photoshop CC disabled some filters and 3D functionality. The preference panel for Performance/Graphics Card in Photoshop CC is greyed out and inaccessible and shows this message -
"Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry."
I still have Photoshop CS6 installed and it still works perfectly. Anyone else with this issue? Is there a driver update for this compatable with my setup?

after going round with this Adobe was able to find the fix....opened the "show content" folder for the application Photoshop CC (control click on the application folder) and navigate to the sniffer file and rename it by putting a tilda ~ in front of the name..." ~sniffer ", close and open PhotoshopCC...and voila, problem solved... Thankyou Adobe support
