  • Advanced Search (Ctrl+Shift+F) broken with Protected View = All Files Adobe Customization Wizard XI

I've updated Adobe Reader to version 11.0.09 and it was discovered that the Advanced Search (Ctrl+Shift+F) reports back errors on all words searched inside PDF document/
    Reproduce:
    1. Use Adobe Customization Wizard XI
    2. Create a MST file for the Base Adobe Reader 11.0.0 MSI (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi)
    3. Under Security -> Protected View -> (Set to ALL FILES)
    4. Save MST file
    5. Install Adobe Reader XI using created MST File and then Install AdbeRdrUpd11009.msp
    6. Open any PDF document and search for words using advanced search: (Ctrl+Shift+F) All searches return errors unable to display search.
The error can be reproduced and only occurs on Adobe Reader 11.0.09. None of the previous patches of Adobe had this issue.
The fix actually requires to remove and re-install Adobe Reader but with Protected View=OFF
Please can you confirm bug and report any solution or workaround so that Advanced Search works with Reader 11.0.09?
    Thanks

    Hi vmartin01,
I tried to check at my end and it works fine at my end.

  • Unable to customize Designer.msi from Adobe Customization Wizard

    Hello Everyone,
Need help!  Been trying to customize Adobe Life Cycle ES4 version 11 from Adobe Customization Wizard version 11.  I come up with the following error when I open up the Designer.msi file.  "Wizard cannot modify this MSI package.  Please browse to a vaild Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat MSI pcakage."
    Any suggestions would be helpful!
    thank you

I'm inclined to think it doesn't, not just because of the message (which is pretty convincing) but because LiveCycle products are entirely different product group and practices (notwithstanding the former bundling). LiveCycle (the suite) is aimed firmly at the enterprise sector so I'd expect it to have its own enterprise deployment documentation.

  • I just created an AIP version of Adobe 11.0.10, applied our settings with the .mst through Adobe Customization Wizard.Online Services and Features Issues

I just created an AIP version of Adobe 11.0.10, applied our settings with the .mst through Adobe Customization Wizard. But something is blocking it from opening the software, it just flickers the windows explorer, if I uncheck all the settings for the Online Services and Features it lets me open it but i can't skip the registration screen. Has something changed with this version of 11.0.10?

Having the same problem here. Even if not creating an AIP, and instead doing a standard install of AcroPro.msi and patching with 11.0.10's msp, it'll result in a registration loop that can't be skipped.
Applying an Adobe ID allows for getting through the screen, but obviously, in an enterprise environment, that's not ideal.
This issue was something that I experienced with 11.0.07, and it went away with 11.0.08 and 11.0.09, but seems to have returned with 11.0.10.
Previously, I was able to get around the issue by clearing out some files from the Common Files\Adobe directory, particularly Adobe PCD and SLCache, as well as including the Adobe regids stored in ProgramData, but that fix no longer works with this latest version.
If REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS is set to YES, the result is Acrobat closing and opening in a loop, since it can't get through the registration screen.
I'm currently investigating for a registry key that might possibly applied to circumvent this issue, but I haven't found one yet.
For Adobe Acrobat 8, it used to be stored in the following two places, per Prompted to register repeatedly | Acrobat 8 | Windows
         32-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AdobeViewer
         64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AdobeViewer
However, the registry structure seems to have changed since then.

  • Issues with setting "Maked Reader the default PDF viewer" with Adobe Customization Wizard XI

I am using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI. I have set the following options in the Adobe Customization Wizard.
    Personalization Options
Enabled the checkbox for Suppress display of End User License Agreement (EULA)
    Installation Options
Selected the radio button for Make Reader the default PDF viewer
Run Installation: selected radio button Silently(No Interface)
    Security
Enhanced Security Settings - Clicked drop down and set value to Disable
    Online Services and Features
    Checked Disable product updates
Checkd In Adobe Reader, disable Help > Purchase Adobe Acrobat
    Checked Disable Product Improvement Program
Checked Disable Viewing of PDF with Ads for Adobe PDF
Checked Disable all Adobe online services based workflows and entry points.
I have tried to deploy the MSI with MST via GPO and Command Line with no luck.  Every time i deploy via below methods, the same result occurs, all of the options are set correctly except the "Make Reader the default PDF viewer".  I know how to manually set this option via Windows or Adobe interfaces but i am looking to roll this out to the masses and would not want a bunch of service desk calls because a user clicks on an Adobe PDF file and it is not opening in Adobe Reader.
    GPO
    Create New Package Use AcroRead.msi
    Choose Advanced
Deployment Options - Click Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management.
Modifications - Select Transform file located in the folder of MSI
    Command Line.
Tried these options to try and apply "Make Reader the default PDF viewer"
    msiexec /i  "<path>\AcroRead.msi" TRANSFORMS="<path>\TransformFile.mst"
    msiexec /i  "<path>\AcroRead.msi" TRANSFORMS="<path>\TransformFile.mst" /qn
    msiexec /i "<path>\AcroRead.msi" IW_DEFAULT_VERB=Read
    msiexec /i  "<path>\AcroRead.msi" TRANSFORMS="<path>\TransformFile.mst" IW_DEFAULT_VERB=Read /qn
Anyone know how to make this setting work with the Transform file, i sure would appreciate assistance on this issue.

Instead of saving as a PDF thru Work do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save as PDF and it will be saved the first time with the Preview icon.

  • Adobe Customization Wizard X issue PDF icon and disable display in browser after installation

I have used the Adobe Customization Wizard X wizard to setup a .MTS files for the custom install. When this is installed using SCCM 2012 with command (msiexec /q /i "\\Server\Share\AcroRead.msi" TRANSFORMS="\\Server\Share\AcroRead.mst") this all works fine but all PDFs on the machine that gets this deployment (Windows 7 x64 or Windows XP x86) the icons for the .pdf don't show the Adobe icon they show the generic Windows icon when the program is not assigned but still work to launch Adobe reader. I have tried to unistall and reinstall but still the same resaults. If I install the .msi with no .mst the icon shows up just fine. So it has to be something with when you use the customization wizard or the .mst. I have also tried assigning .PDF to another program and the icon changes to that program and assign it back and no icon. Also if I set Display PDF in browser = Disabled this setting does not stick. I have just installed via Adobe not using SCCM via command line I get the same resaults.
I have only selected these customizations:
         Installation Options:
    Silently (No interface)
    Suppress reboot
         Shortcuts
    No desktop Icon
           EULA
Suppress display of End User License Agreement (EULA)
         Online Features
    Disable all updates
Disable Help > Purchases Adobe Acrobat
    Disable Product Improvement Program
Display PDF in browser = Disabled
    Disabled  All Acrobat.com access

    Hi Ben,
Here's what I am trying to accomplish I had Acrobat Standard v10.1.4 scripted so I can deploy it to a Citrix Server (XENAPP6) via SCCM 2007 I have at least 50 licenses of Acrobat Standard deployed to 50 users. All of our Citrix Servers have Adobe Reader v10.* installed as our default pdf viewer. There are other apps that are deployed to this Citrix Server and I wanted to make sure that pdf files open on Adobe Reader instead of Acrobat Standard.
I had to change the installer tables directly so I don't have to get it re-scripted to use this command line. Is it a best practice not to change the isntaller table?
    msiexec /i "\\source\Acrobat10\AcroStan.msi" transforms="\\source\Acrobat10\AcroStan.mst" LEAVE_PDFOWNERSHIP=”YES” /qb /norestart
Thanks a lot for your help I'm looking forward to hear from you.

  • Adobe Customization Wizard X doesn't set Adobe Reader X to be default when customizing Acrobat X

I've recently started working with Adobe Customization Wizard X.
I've got Adobe Reader X customized and it's already installed all computers. Now, I'm working on customizing Adobe Acrobat X. During the customization, I only have the following 2 options:
    1. Installer will decide which product will be the default
    2. Make Acrobat the default PDF viewer
Choosing the 1st option, makes Acrobat as the default PDF viewer. In other words, I don't get an option to keep Adobe Reader X as the default on the existing computer.
Found a blog in Adobe site which suggests running Adobe Reader installation again after Acrobat is installed. Although it works, it just isn't a good solution (my opinion).
    http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/03/installing-acrobat-x-and-reader-x-on-the-same- machine.html
Can you advise what're the registry setting that I can set during the Acrobat X customization so that it doesn't become the default PDF viewer.

  • Adobe Customization Wizard 8 question

I'm using the Adobe Customization Wizard 8,
    when i operation "Installation Options",
i want choose"Remove previous version of Reader" this checkbox,
but this options can not choose, any one can tell me,what can i to do?
    thanks a lot,

Extract the Adobe Reader 8 installation filesExtract the Adobe Reader 8 installation files from the compressed executable:
    Download the AdbeRdr_en_US.exe.
    Choose Start > Run.
In the Open text box, type: "%UserProfile%\Desktop\AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe" -nos_ne.
    Click OK.
When the Adobe Reader 8 Setup screen clears, choose Start > Run.
In the Open text box, type: %temp%.
Drag the Adobe Reader 8 folder to your desktop. This folder contains AcroRead.msi and Data1.cab files needed for installation.
The Setup.ini is within the .EXE you have to extract. I just had to work on this today and came across your post. The above should bring some light on things.

  • Adobe Customization Wizard X with Reader 10.1.3

    Hi all,
First time trying to use the Adobe Customization Wizard X and i wanted to install version 10.1.3 but everytime i use the wizard it always sets it to version 10.1.0.
    any ideas?
    thanks

    Hi!
Same here. Im using wizard X to create a deployable msi of Adobe Reader 10.1.3 but its not working. Everytime i open the msi the wizard transforms it into a 10.1.0 package.
I tryed with 10.1.2 and 10.1.3. It always results in a 10.1.0 installation.
Update: After extracting the setup.exe the resulting msi is definatly a 10.1.0. How could that be? So the wizard is not the problem.
I hate it. It takes me a whole day to read annyoing tutorials of how to make a adobe reader deployment work. I´m sorry Nikhil but your answer is not helpful. Please tell us what is exactly to do?
p.s. i dont understand why there is no msi file+wizard+tutorial in your download area? I was searching about 4 hours in different sources until i finally understood that i have to download the .exe from your hidden ftp, then run it with -nos_ne parameters to get msi, stored somewhere stupid in  c:\programData\adobe\setup\blablablabla, download wizard, configure the msi getting a mst, put this and that on a share, set grouppolicy and and and and and.... ******* which admin has time for stuff like that? HELLO?! Its only an adobe reader deployment not a  spaceshuttle! Im tired now and have to go to rehab for 1 week. Thank you.

  • Why Adobe Reader XI cannot open a pdf file that can be opened with Reader 9?

Why Adobe Reader XI cannot open a pdf file within a browser that can be opened with Reader 9?

    Hi Steve,
Sorry, I cannot post a URL to the file because it is for intenal use only.
I noticed that the pdf file can be opened outside of IE browser if I disable the Adobe Reader add-on (active-X) in IE browser. If I enable the Reader add-on, the Reader cannot complete the file download. The progress bar goes in a half way, and stays there.
Just FYI, the pdf file was created by Distiller 7. Do you think it is the issue of Reader add-on? Thanks.

  • I have adobe 9 and cannot open PDF files????

I have Adobe 9 and cannot open PDF Files.  It gives me an encoding box??

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Adobe Customization Wizard XI: setup.ini was not found (while saving the MSI)

I have downloaded the Adobe Customization Wizard XI and the Adobe Reader XI .msi file. I am only attempting the customize three options of this application. When I try to save the .msi file I get an error "setup.ini was not found".
I have placed the .msi file in a folder on the desktop. Additionally, I have tried using 7-Zip to extract the .msi in an effort to find the setup.ini file.
Where is this file located? What is the solution?
    Any help is much appreciated.

Just install Adobe Reader on a machine.  Then you will get the flat files in a folder location that has the Setup.ini file.  It will be something like this depending on your OS:
    Windows 7 64-bit Example Location
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AB0000000001}\

  • Adobe Customization Wizard: "remove previous versions" greyed out?

    Hi,
I am preparing an MST, with the Adobe Customization Wizard,  to customize Adobe Reader 9.5.0 setup, and I see the "remove previous versions" checkboxes are both greyed out.
Reader's is blank while Acrobat's is checked - nevertheless, installing over a previous Reader, it correclty replaces it. But what about Acrobat?
Can't I install Reader 9.5.0 on a computer where, i.e., Acrobat Pro 9.4.0 is installed, without removing it?
    thanks,
    fabio

After testing some more, I can see that the greyed-out options are not taken in account at all. Even installing on a computer where the Pro is, it is not removed. I guess these options are only available for Acrobat, then, and not for the Reader.

  • Adobe Reader 8.2 not working on Adobe Customization Wizard 8

I tried creating a transform file from Adobe Reader 8.2 using Adobe Customization Wizard 8. However, the tool won't generate the transform and is looking for Setup.ini.
I looked again at the installer that I got and it is now a single msi file unlike the previous releases which is a compressed Setup.exe that I used to decompress and get the msi, cab file and the setup.ini.
Anyone know how to get the compressed Setup.exe version of Adobe Reader 8.2 or how will it work with the Adobe Customization Wizard 8?

    Thanks for the reply.
Since I have previous deployment of the application, I just edited the old Setup.ini that I have. here's what I edited:
    [Product]
msi=AdbeRdr820_en_US.msi  --> this is the part that that customization wizard is looking for and should be the same name as the msi installer.
We are using Marimba for deployment, The Customization Wizard helps a lot in generating the transforms that I need for Adobe Reader.
