Adobe digital e reader

downloaded ok.. test book dowloads ok ..try to download public library e book--error message "could not open urllinc.acsm  not supported file or damaged""guttenberg downloads ok  any advice on this?..billmak31...

guttenberg downloads will always be OK, they don't have ay DRM.
(You will probably find it better to use the free Calibre for those, it is far superior to ADE in all details except lack of support for DRM)
Does this happen for all library books?
Do you have an eReader plugged in ~~ there are certain bugs that prevent ADE2.0 working with some ereaders in combination with library books (including but not onky Sony PRS-350).
There are lots of other bugs in ADE2 as well, try 1.7.2

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above.  There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'.  The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

  • How do I get my Adobe Digital book read out loud.

I am disabled and need to use text to speech. I purchased an ebook which is an Adobe Digital Edition. I have really enjoyed using Adobe Reader with the Read Out Loud feature and was shocked when I discovered I could not use this feature on the Digital Editions. If I knew Adobe cared so little about the disabled I would sought the book in a different format.
Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to be able to get this expensive book read for me?

I do not know quite what you mean by "paid for them to transfer all my data and programs over"...  I'm hoping you are not implying that you simply copied (had copied) programs from your application folder to your new computer.
You still need to go through the installation process to install Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

  • Adobe Digital in read mode only

When I first started downloading books from the library there was no problem with audio.  The last 3 or more weeks something changed and when I download and try to open it automatically goes to Adobe Reader and of course there is an error message,.  So I started saving them and opening them in Adobe Digiital.  But they will open only as a reading book,There is no audio option.  Help please, Thank you.

I have corrected the problem so now the file saves to Adobe Digital, but still comes as a read only book, not audio.

  • Make Adobe digital my default reader

    Goodday,
I have adobe digital reader which works fine. I only do no see any "preferences"
I had first a Sony E-.reader and I use the Sony software for that on my computer. This was the default. When I downloaded a e-book, it authomaticly opened in that reader and I could transfer it to my e-reader.
But now I have another e-reader ( BeBook) and this nees to be opened with adobe.
My problem now is, that when I download a book, it openes still authomaticly in my sony-ereader lybrary. ( on the computer)
When I open the download again ( manualy) in Adobe, it will show..I can read the book on my computer...but I cannot get it in my BeBook section, which does show up in the adobe digital reader.
I thought..when i can get the adobe digital reader as the default reader...my downloads will authomaticly open in Adobe Digital.
So my quoistion is..where can I do this??
    Thank you

You have posted this in a forum on one of the capabilities of Adobe's server producte suite.  I am 99.94% sure that your question will not be answered here.  I'd suggest that you repost your question in "Adobe Digital Editions"

  • How do I stop Adobe Reader X from reading documents meant for Adobe Digital Editions?

I  was trying to download via  Sample e-Book Library, just to check if my Adobe Digital Editions was working properly.
Turns out, PDFs / Urls are interrrupted by Adobe Reader X.
Even though  Adobe Reader X is unable to read it, or as it  keeps telling me: "Adobe reader could not open URLLINK.acsm because it is either not a supported file type, or because the file has been damaged"
Any suggestions to how I could abort Adobe Reader X from automatically read documents meant for Adobe Digital Editions?

    It's Windows 8.
Turns out the problem was acsm.files preconfigured to be opened in Adobe Reader. The solution was to right click on the file(s) in Downloads, and then reconfigure  it through the option "open as/in ..."
and somehow give the correct adress, through Computer:/ C and so on,  to the  Adobe Digital Editions.

  • Is there an Adobe digital reader edition for Android?

    Help
Does anyone know if there is an Adobe digital edition reader for Android?

You're not the first person to mix up Adobe Reader and Adobe Digital Editions, and you won't be the last. I'd love to know why it happens though. Here is the Adobe Digital Editions forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_digital_editions

  • ADOBE DIGITAL EDITION 2

Adobe Digital Edition Reader wont open up and accept files from kobo in smashword zip format says not supported

It is worth renaming them as .epub files and see if that helps.  No promises it will work in your situation, but I have heard of cases where it does.

  • Why won't Adobe Digital Editions recognise my ereader?

I am trying to transfer an ebook to my Sony PRS-T2N reader using Adobe Digital Editions. However, the program does not seem to be recognising my ereader. Since it supports pretty much all the Sony readers, I assume it should be able to recognise mine too. Any ideas on how I can get it to recognise my e-reader?
    Thanks!

  • Suggested Adobe Digital Edition friendly sites/stores

I purchased a Sony PRS-600 Digital Book reader for my daughter for Christmas.  I could not get the Sony Reader software to load onto my machine and was just about to return to the store.   I noticed in my research that Adobe Digital Book reader was compatible – it works and synchronizes with the Sony PRS-600 reader.
Does anyone recommend an ebook commerce site that is compatible and friendly with Adobe Digital Edition application?

http://ebooks.addall.com  provides a good price search across a whole bunch of stores.
http://www.feedbooks.com provides nicely formatted public domain books.
The rest really depends upon what you like.  For instance I'm into SciFi, so I make heavy use of the Baen store: http://www.webscriptions.net
One final note: The Amazon and Barnes & Noble stores  are not compatible with your Sony 600, although the B&N store may be compatible later (once Sony issues a firmware update).

  • Adobe digital editions error in connecting to server

  • (sony) `Ebook Library' to `Adobe Digital  Editions'

Searching here for ways to convert an (sony) `Ebook Library' format (*.lrx) to something the Adobe Digital Editions reader can read, I find long threads about converting the other way (adobe to sony) but not the reverse.
I have both freebie readers and have found the `Ebook Library' offered for download by sony, has a more extensive library easily accessed thru the reader in the genre I like to read (crime fiction/mystery).
I'm sure the same stuff is available somewhere on the net for the Adobe Digital Editions reader but with the `Ebook Library' I haven't had to search, just use there library.
The trouble is the reader part of `Ebook Library' sucks. Its pretty primitive compared to the adobe DE. For starters I can't reduce the size of type characters below a rather huge size. Even the smallest setting in the reader results in rather huge type. The reader is cumbersome and clunky in many other ways as well.
I vastly prefer reading with the Adobe DE. But do not like having to put so much time and energy into finding the books I want to download in Adobe DE format. Jumping around thru the various links I have for ebooks to find what I want instead of using the `Ebooks Library' to find it in one search/purchase combined move.
So how can I read the stuff downloaded in *.lrx format in Adobe DE. There is no intent to circumvernt DRM or some other sleaze... I don't mind paying for the books... I just want to read them in the software of choice, Adobe DE

While I'm glad that you like ADE, unfortunately as you have undoubtedly already figured out we only support PDF and ePub for viewing and do not support viewing of Sony's .lrf (unencrypted) or .lrx (DRM protected). I don't think that will change anytime soon (but I'm just an engineer and have been wrong about product directions plenty of times).
For non DRM Sony files there are plenty of convertors out there to use - although most of them focus on converting to .lrf so you can place the file on a Sony Reader. A good general resource for conversion tools, how well they work etc is the MobileRead Format Conversion forum
Other than that, the best I can do for you is to suggest some additional links to add to your various link you already have:
Feedbooks - provides free access to public domain material in a variety of formats including ePub http://www.feedbooks.com
    A Crime/Mystery filtered link:
    http://www.feedbooks.com/discover/list/books?type=Crime%2FMystery
ebooks.com - offers a wide varieties of books
    http://www.ebooks.com
(look for their fiction/crime section - they don't have a separate mystery section)
    Good Luck
