Adobe digital edition failed!!!
hi there,2 days before I bought an e reader however I'm travelling a lot in the country and outside as well,I was absolutely very disappointed with adobe digital editiond however I've purchased some e books and just cannot figure out how can I authorize my pc ,my e mail adress always fails,my password as well, honestly is so boring,I've also read a guy gives some explanatin where to go n the internet options but it does not work,it fails again, again, again,if there is somebdy expert how can I fix this problem I dare say I'd pay him/her ,my e mail is:[email protected] .please HElp,I'm in a big big big trouble!!!!! Many thanks!
I made a little testing here:
1 I tried to install KBKB2468871-v2 in accordance with your instructions, still no luck
2 I tried to install ADE4 in Windows 7 with only NET 4.0 installed (without SP1), it worked.
In conclusion, the problem is not caused by the lack of NET 4.0 SP1, but ADE4 indeed can only be run in Windows 7 and above.
Frankly I do not read the requirement, ADE3 can be run on Win2003, so I think ADE4.is no different.
By the way, thank you for answering my stupid questions.

Autorisation PC failed Adobe digital Editions
By autorisation PC by Adobe Digital Editions the programm says: cannot connect to server, please take care of an internet connection. But i do have an internet connection.
Why is connections with Adobe server failing?

1) ~~~~~
Your firewall is blocking ADE connections. Double-check the firewall, or run with it (temporarily) turned off.
2) ~~~~~
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
It may be that the 'cannnot connect to server' is another of these incorrect messages.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library. -
Adobe Digital Editions Quit Unexpectedly
Hi there,
I can't open my book from Abode Digital Editions. When I go to Adobe Digital Additions Library and click on the book I purchased, a box pops up saying, "Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically." Then when I click on the "Reopen" button, I am automatically taken back to the Adobe Digital Editions Library where the cycle repeats itself. I have seen multiple reports of this same issue from other users in this form. I have called Adobe for support and can't seem to find an answer so far. I would LOVE to have this sorted out so I can use my Kobo and read the books I have purchased. Anyone out there in internet land who can help me, I would appreciate this sooooooo much.
Thank you!Same problem here. I downloaded and installed ADE 4.0.3 just to check out a library e-book using DRM on my Mac OS X Yosemite. ADE crashed every time I attempted to open that book with a memory address exception. I had no problems opening the default book that comes with the reader though. Looked at iTunes reviews of ADE and Mac users have been complaining about this serious bug since February! What a major fail by Adobe.
I took the suggestion in this thread of downgrading to ADE 3.0. I still had the library's e-book in my library but was now getting a E_ACT_NOT_READY error each time I tried to open it. After some googling, I figured out I needed to reset my authorization token by doing Command-Shift-D. But after regenerating my authorization token, I got a E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER error. Now I think I need to get the library to reset the authorization token for the book since my token has changed. I dropped them a note informing them Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 doesn't work on Yosemite and asked them to reset the authorization. I've removed the book from my ADE library and will hopefully be able to download and start reading it next week. -
I have downloaded and installed adobe digital edition 3 in my windows 8 laptop. But it fails to open. I get an error message saying "adobe digital edition has stopped working. A problem caused the problem to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I have downloaded the set up file from the adobe site from the link http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/digitaleditions/ADE_3.0_Installer.exe. Can anyone help. I have bought online books and I am unable to read them unless this is installed.

Adobe digital edition 2.0 not openned
Hello All,
In windows xp serivce pack-2, ADE 2.0 is working perfectly for few days only, but after few days ADE 2.0 is not opening. I dont know why it is not opening? Can anyone tell me reason behind this?
If RUN>>MSCONFIG>GENERAL>DIAGNOSTIC STARTUP - LOAD BASIC DEVICES AND SERVICE ONLY > APPLY > OK and restarting the system then the ADE 2.0 is opening.
If RUN>> MSCONFIG>GENERAL>NORMAL STARTUP - LOAD ALL DEVICE DRIVERS AND SERVICES > APPLY > OK and restarting the system then the ADE 2.0 is NOT opening. As you people are well aware that we cannot use the diagnostic startup since it will allow basic service and devices only.
I have tried the following methods to overcome this issue (from internet)
1. Uninstall Adobe Digital Editions using one of these two methods:
Start > Programs > Adobe > Adobe Digital Editions > Uninstall
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs
2. Initiate Uninstall
3. In order to remove all remnants of Adobe Digital Editions / Adobe Adept from the machine a "Registry Edit" will need to be performed:
Start > Run > Regedit
4. Search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Adept and Delete the full "Adept" folder
5. Remove only the structures that are under the "SOFTWARE" extensions. This will remove the Adobe ID / License and Activation Keys
6. Clear any outstanding tasks that may be associated to Adobe Digital Editions downloads
C:\data\my digital editions
C:\my documents\my digital editions
7. Delete any documents within these folders:
Restore > Tasks
Restore > Failed
8. Re-install Adobe Digital Editions
9. I have updated Windows xp from SP2 to SP3
The above methods didn't helped me to solve this issue. Then, i have used DIAGNOSTIC STARTUP and safe mode, it was opened, but not in normal user mode.
Thanks,

Please help thanks. Adobe Digital Edition using across multiple computers
Hi
I have Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) installed on a laptop with Windows, and a Mac laptop.
I have authorized ADE on both machines. I use the laptops at different locations
Currently i have 2 separate libraries (small libraries of < 10 books) on both computers but I would like
to be able to keep both libraries in synch - such that the books and especially the notes/bookmarks
are the same when I read the book on both laptops.
For example what I want to be able to do is read and takes notes using ADE on the PC
and then when I logon to my Mac laptop - to read the same book, and continue where
I bookmarked last, and also see the notes I had added previously on the other laptop.
Is this possible? Thanks
your help is much appreciated. I read and take alot of side notes
and this will save heaps of time.
I am a new to ADE but it feels like each computer/laptop where ADE will hold
a different library, with different set of books and bookmarks. Is it possible
to synch the books/bookmarks/notes across different machines

Adobe digital editions has stopped working??
I have been using ADE to read library ebooks, and the 2.0 version has never worked for me- I have always got the error message "Adobe digital editions has stopped working" as soon as I try to open it. I have been using the older version 1.7.2, but now it will no longer let me use this version and forces me to download an upgrade. I have tried 2.0 and 3.0 and both get the same error message. I have tried reinstalling and allowing through my firewall but I still keep getting the message. Does anyone know how I can fix this please??
When you open the ADE 2x/3x, It tries to load the books' details from the "My Digital Editions" folder (in "My documents") for the library view. If any of the book is corrupt, It fails to open correctly.
I am guessing this is the issue.
Can you try the following:
Backup the "My Digital Editions" folder and then remove this folder.
Now open the ADE. Hopefully, It will work.
If it does, you can open the books from the Backed up folder.
I hope it helps. -

Authorizing your ereader with ADE
In most cases you can register your ereader quickly and simply. IF the following instructions do not work, please contact our ereader manufacturer directly.
1. Connect your ereader to your computer.
2. The ADE Authorize Device window will pop up. [On rare occasions where the pop up does not happen automatically, please try pressing CTRL + SHIFT + E after connecting your ereader.]
3. Click on Authorize Device.
4. ADE should now recognize your ereader, and will list it within the “Bookshelves” area of the ADE window.
Note: Nook readers come with an Adobe ADE type directory preinstalled. It MUST be deleted from the Nook before ADE will recognize the Nook. Delete the directory from the Nook. Fire up ADE and everything works perfectly!

1. Download and install Adobe Digital Editions. This software requires Flash.
2. Open up Adobe Digital Editions. It will ask you to activate your software with an Adobe ID.
3. If you create an Adobe ID:
a. You may download the book to more than one computer as long as the computers all
use the same Adobe ID. (Up to 6 computers can be activated using one Adobe ID.)
b. You can transfer your eBooks only to Nooks that are using the same Adobe ID.
4. If you decide to continue anonymously:
a. You will not be able to transfer eBooks to your Nook!
b. You may only download to one computer.
c. You can activate an Adobe ID at any time. However, you may lose the rights to see any
eBooks that were downloaded previously.
5. We recommend that you create an Adobe ID. Follow the steps to do so.
6. Activate your Nook by plugging it into your computer with Adobe Digital Editions open.
7. Adobe Digital Editions will detect your Nook and ask to activate it using the same Adobe ID as
your copy of Adobe Digital Editions. Follow the prompts. (It may take a few minutes for Digital
Editions to see your Nook.)
Getting your eBook on to your Nook
1. Open up Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Plug in your Nook. If you have not previously set it up, Adobe Digital Editions will ask to register
your Nook using the same Adobe ID as your Digital Editions.
3. Your Nook will appear on the left under Bookshelves.
4. To transfer your eBook to the Nook, click on your previously downloaded eBooks and drag them
to the Nook icon. The book will transfer.
5. Unplug your Nook.
6. To find your new eBook, go to My Library.
7. On the touch screen, scroll up until you see My Documents.
8. Your new book will be in My Documents.
9. Enjoy! -
I have adobe digital edition v2.0 and I am trying to authorize my erreader, but I am unable to find the 'manage library' before I open ADE. Where to I find the 'manage library'? and should I upgrade the ADE to version v1.7.2.?
To make Mail quit you'll need to perform a forced quit or, failing that, a forced shutdown.
When an application won't quit you can hold the Command and Option keys together and then type the ESC key. This (usually) brings up a dialog with all the running applications. Select the offending program and click the Force Quit button.
If this doesn't force the application to quit (quite rare) or if you cannot get the Force Quit Dialog to pop up, hold the power button for about 10 seconds to shut down the entire computer. This should be a last resort but sometimes is necessary. -

Adobe Digital Editions for IPad?
I frequently review books for an online book digest. Publishers are increasingly distributing galley proofs digitally, most often using the Adobe Digital Editions app, which seems to be compatible with every kind of ebook reader....except the IPad. I haven't found an IPad version at the app store, and I don't have a Kindle or a Nook or any of those devices that read Adobe's DRM-protected files, and so am forced to non-portably read these galleys on my IMac. Anyone know if an IPad DE app is in the offing? Or failing that, a workaround? (I tried using Txtr, which claims it can read DE files. Not.)
Incidentally, you do know that you can buy kindle or Nook apps for your ipad? I was assuming you wanted a DE-specific app.
EDIT Actually, those apps are free--you just pay for what you buy through them, if that helps you any.
Incidentally, O'Reilly, my publisher, uses PDF for real galley purposes, although they do create epub editions of their books for distribution. You might want to ask the publishers you work with if there's another format available. -

Unless you really need the (few) extra features of 2.0, you'll be much better off on 1.7.2.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0. Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
