Adobe Digital Signature Issue

Need help. One of our users opens a PDF document in Adobe Reader, signs it with his digital signature, saves it and wants to send it in an emial. When people receive the email his signature is missing. This is something he used to be able to do. Any ideas?

Hi,
Just try creating that signature again on that form. Sometimes, copy might not do!
Thanks,

  • Fault in adobe digital signature revocation checking schema

    Hello,
I have found some fault in adobe digital signature revocation checking schema. If OCSP response signing certificate contains CRL distribution point (in my case CDP (CRL) and AIA (OCSP)), online OCSP check executes, but after getting all chain certificate OCSP responses, validating signature against CRL (it’s looks from Local cache). It means you never get OCSP validation data in Adobe Acrobat or Reader signature revocation tab.
Adobe Revocation Checking Quick Key schema is following:
    Check      Embedded revocation responses
Check      local CRL cache C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application      Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
    Check      Online OCSP response
    Check      Online CRL response
    LAB environment:
Certificate      chain E-ME SSI      (RCA) (Root Certificate) -> E-ME PSI (PCA) (Policy Certificate) -> E-ME IS (CA1) (Issuer certificate) -> User      certificate (Document signing certificate)
Sign      PDF document (Ocsp-CHECK.pdf)      using Adobe Acrobat 9 with User certificate (Don’t add revocation information in signature)
    Test steps:
Sign      PDF document using Adobe Acrobat 9 with User certificate (Don’t add revocation      information in signature)
Clear      Local CRL cache under C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application      Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
Open      signed file using Adobe Acrobat 9 or Reader 9
Verify      signature. Verification process finishes successfully. Under signature      properties in certificate windows and user certificate revocation tab you      can see that revocation information data comes from CRL. The same for all      chain certificates. But if we look in chain and user certificate its holds      AIA record for OCSP service.
After      a couple of tests I tried to disable access for Acrobat to local CRL cache      folder (Everyone – Full control deny).
After      disabling access to local CRL cache folder - verify the same signed PDF      file. Opening document you can see OCSP checking progress and verification      process finishes successfully. Under signature properties in certificate      windows and user certificate revocation tab you can see that revocation      information data comes from OCSP. The same for all chain certificates.
    Resolution:
Its looks when Adobe starts online OCSP checking and receives OCSP response they start parsing OCSP response signer certificate and check OCSP signer certificates revocation information. In this process CRL for OCSP signer certificate is downloaded and placed in Local CRL cache C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security\CRLCache
Somehow when Adobe gets all chain certificate OCSP responses and have verified also all OCSP signer certificates, online OCSP check is no more continued and revocation information are taken from Local CRL cache.
Can you please help me to clear how to deal with this problem, to make sure that procedure works correctly?

  • WDJ Adobe digital Signatures

    Hello SDN,
I have to implement Digital signatures in my Webdynpro interactive forms. In sdn I found one example related to online Interactive form security but for offline I couldnt find.
In offline scenario, a user will send pdf form to customer or employee etc to fill the form and send it back.
    1) Here how a receiver will know that he got the form, from an authorized person?
    2) Once the form is filled and send it back, how receiver can validate whether the filled form came from an authorized person?
    3) Also how exactly I can use digital signatures? what are the technical requirements for implementing digital signatures?(SSL is mandatory?)
Can some one guide me on this?
    Appreciate your help.
    With regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
Digital signatures can also be created and verified as of Adobe Reader 5.1. Users can use the Adobe Acrobat Reader to display and print files in PDF format, whose content and appearance correspond to the paper version, on a cross-platform basis. The prerequisites for this are the use of the new Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions and the replacement of SmartForms by Adobe Acrobat (this is still in development). SSF is not used.
Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions assign additional usage rights to electronic forms that were created with Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Adobe Form Designer 5.0. Digital signatures are a type of usage right.
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1 can be downloaded free-of-charge from Adobe's Web site, and processes the usage rights that were embedded in PDF forms by the Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions.

  • Opening PDF's in Illustrator - Digital signature Issue

Having an Issue with Digital signatures...
Currently we are opening up PDF's into Illustrator and changing some art,  the Digital signature is not showing but its appearing again when the file is made back into a PDF.
Would like the Digital Signature removed but can't do it from Illustrator as its not appearing.
Its not my signature so I can't remove it the normal way by just clearing it from Acrobat???
    Any suggestions anyone???

You could open the pdf, in a text editor and remove the code for the signature. Problem with that is the code is hard to find what to delete, as it is not in postscript section, but all scrambled letters(hexadecimal or something like that).
Open the pdf in illustrator, copy all , and paste into a new document, and your signature will be gone.

  • Digital Signature Issues

Hi, I am brand new to this forum, But this is my second question. I am running Abobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.
I have been tasked with making a document that is Digital Signature ready.
I was able to make a digital signature for my document.  However, I have two warning that come up.
Once the document is signed, a blue bar shows up at the top of the page. It has the following statement: "At least one signature has problems, Please fill out the following form.  If you are the form author, choose distribute form in the forms menu to send it to your recipients"
When expanding on the yellow triangle, There is one green check mark (with a statement that says: "The document has not been modified since this signature was applied".
                        Two warnings show up:
                         1)  "The signers identiy is unknown because it has not been included in your list of trusted identities and none of its parent certificates are trusted identities".
                         2)  " Signature date/time are from the clock on the signers computer".
George, I have not been able to paste the Javascripts from that freeware into my Adobe program.  I am not sure if it is the permissions set in the Adobe program or the restrictions my company has with altering computer software.
Is there something that I might be able to do to remove the warnings?
              Very Respectfully: Rossknechtt,

For #1, it will always show that for self-signed certificates that you have not yet chosen to trust. When you add the identity to your list of trusted identities
and choose to trust it as a trusted root.
For #2, it will say that unless the time was retrieved from a timestamp server when the signature was applied. So what you're seeing is normal if one was not used.
More information on all of this is in the Acrobat Help document.

  • Java 1.6.0.24 deployment - Digital signature Issues

    Hi,
    We're deploying Java Sun 1.6.0.24 for 500 end-users.
    We've followed Note 290807.1.
1 Instance is working with Java Sun :
    - Instance A : Java Sun 1.6.0.24
    We did the following :
    1) Enter 1st time in Instance A : Java Sun 1.6.0.24 Installed (silent mode installation)
    3) We're receiving the following Message : "The application's digital signature cannot be verified. Do you want to run the application ?" (see attached file)
-> Due to deployment for 500 Users , we would like to avoid this message during silent installation of Java 1.6.0.24.

You will get this message only first time you access the application, so you could simply train your users to tick "Always trust content from this publisher" option and click on Run.

    Hi
I am using Digital Signature in my application.
I have two signature field in my form.
SignatureField1 will be signed by the First person and then he/she will send that form to the Second person to be signed in the SignatureField2.
The Second Person will open the form and how can he/she validate that signature in the SignatureField1 is signed by First Person Only.
Is there a way of providing Public key of First person to the Second Person for validating the Signature of the First Person.

  • Digital Signature issue

We have PDF's that are signed by multiple people and we are in the progress of upgrading from Adobe Acrobat and Reader (any version from 7.0 to 9.4.4) to Adobe Acrobat X.
If a document is signed by a user with Acrobat X and he sends it to a user with Acrobat 9, the second user is not able to sign the document. Is this known behaviour and is there a solution?
    Respectfully,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Pay no attention to the first reply, there is nothing in there that is correct.
The capability to add multiple signatures and to a PDF and to move between versions has existed since version 6. As Acrobat has evolved it has been possible to add a signature in a newer version that the older version wouldn't understand, for example, in version 6 it only understood the MD5 and SHA-1 digest algorithms. In version 7 SHA-256 was introduced and if you signed using SHA-256 then version 6 wouldn't be able to successfully validate the signature. In version 10 we added a signature format called CAdES that older version wouldn't be able to decode, but for the most part as long as the user doesn't change the default (out of the box) settings backwards compatibility is maintained.
That brings us to what is causing the file to be locked after the first signature. There are several things that could be going on. One thing to realize is there are two types of signatures; a certifying signature and an approval signature. You can only add on certifying signature per file and it has to be the first signature, whereas you can add multiple approval signatures, The first signature may be an approval signature, but if it is then you cannot add a certifying signature.
When adding a certifying signature there are options in a drop-down menu, one of which is to allow no changes. If that option were selectred then you can't make any changes to the file let alone sign.
Since version 9, Acrobat/Reader  will detect if the last empty signature field is being signed. If that's the case an optional checkbox appears on the Sign dialog that allows the signer to lock the document.
To go a bit further, in order to sign in Reader the file needs to be Reader Enabled. You can do this from Acrobat Pro (but not Standard) and there are servers that also can do this as well. It is possible that the second signer is using Reader, but the file has not been Reader Enabled. The document author has to Reader Enable the file before any signatures are applied, it's not something you can do after that first signature.
Acrobat version 6 & 7 had a bug where they could break the Reader Enablement, but that hasn't existed in a long time. It is possible the the first signer was using version 7 and toasted the Reader rights.
The document author could have added in JavaScript that or signature field properties that cause the file to be locked on signing as well.
So, there are numerous things that can be going on, but once you iron out the problem you will be able to add signatures galore.

  • Digital Signature issue in Master pages

    Hi,
I have added signature field object in the master page. I am not able to sign pdf through e-signature whenever i am defining signature object on master page.
I tried to add object on the normal page, then it is working fine.
Can anybody suggest cause of the same?
    Thank you.
    Sachin

    Ritwika,
Are the User Name and Password correct?  Is the User assigned to the SAP_XMII_User role in Netweaver?  On the iCommand's Security screen, is the SAP_XMII_User assigned as a Reader role?
Have you checked the Netweaver log?  There may be more detailed information there.
    Kind Regards,

  • Installing ADE - cannot verify Adobe digital signature

On up-to-date 64-bit Windows 7 Home, I am unable to verify the software publisher when installing ADE 1.7.2, and so will not install the software.  Both digitaleditions.exe (available via the ADE home page "Launch" button) and the "manual" install file setup.exe give warnings like so:
Do others experience the same message when trying to install ADE 1.7.2 on a clean system?  Is there a certificate update I'm missing?  Is the software really not recognizably signed?
