Adobe DNG converter doesn't work.

I tried reinstal DNG converter many times and i instal latest GPU driver, but still not working.
always i saw only this and i can't click to browse or to any other button.
I have win 7 (64.bit) and last DNG converter (8.7)

Definitely a video driver problem, then.
Go update your video driver from the web site of the manufacturer of your video card, not through Windows Update or the MS site, those are nearly always outdated.

It is possible that you are not following instructions correctly in the DNG converter. The DNG converter interface asks for the FOLDER that contains your raw images. Choose the folder, but don't open it. After you have chosen the folder, click on the Convert button. The DNG conversion process should start.  Does that help you?

  • Can't find any raw files to convert when I am using Adobe DNG converter

Recently I purchased a new Olympus XZ-1 camera. I shoot exclusively RAW pictures (raw files for this camera are called .orf). Then when I tried to import these .orf files in the organizer of Phtoshop Element 8 it was imposible, nor then I could see those pictures in the organizer. By surfing on diffrent forums, I was able to figure out that Camera Raw included in Element 8, Camera Raw 5.5, is not supporting the .orf raw from Olympus and if I didn’t want to upgrade my Element 8 to Element 9 or 10, a simple alternative was to download Adobe DNG converter to convert all my .orf files into dng files, which could then imported by Element 8 and opened in Camera raw 5.5.
I downloaded DNG converter version 6.6 and installed it in on my computer running on Windows 7. The problem is that once inside DNG converter, when selecting the folder where all my .orf files are (Select folder), I can't see any raw files to convert there! I tried to select a folder with NEF files instead (raw files from Nikon) and it is the same problem! Why can’t I see those files of mine I want to convert when I select the folder in DNG converter?
    I'm dying for help!
    Thanks a lot!

When you are selecting the folder in the DNG converter, you only click on the folder.  You DON'T double click on the folder.  After you have set your options, and chosen the folder, you click on the Convert button.  It is only after you have clicked on Convert that you will see the list of files that are being converted.  You will also be able to see an indicator of the progress of the conversion.  It really does work.  Just to verify, the procedure I outlined is one that I did just prior to trying to write the instructions.  It really isn't rocket science.  Just choose the folder, only the folder, and click on the Convert button.
You'll notice that the button prompts you to select the folder, it doesn't say anything about selecting a file.  You only select the folder that contains the files.  You will never see a list of files using this method.  If you only want to convert one or two images you can use the other method.  Leave the DNG converter closed, open the folder containing the DNG files in your operating system folder browsing utility, choose the file you want to convert, and drag it onto the icon for the DNG converter.  That is how you choose individual images.

  • Adobe DNG Converter For Panasonic LX3?

The recent Apple update still does not recognize Panasonic's LX3 camera. I believed I could still get a Raw image into Aperture by doing the following:
Using Adobe DNG Converter, and looking at Aperture's requirement that the linear compression option be turned off. I converted the Raw format file to DNG and then tried to import it into Aperture. Aperture seems to "digest" the image, but then states the format is unsupported. Am I doing something wrong? Why doesn't this seem to work?

I think the problem is, for the LX3, Adobe demands that Linear conversion be on for the LX3. Given Aperture doesn't support this... I think you may be at loggerheads.

  • DNG Converter Doesn't Recognize RAF Files

I work in RAW with a Fujifilm X-E1, and Photoshop CS3. Since I got the camera almost a year ago, I have been successfully able to convert RAF files to DNG files using the Adobe DNG Converter so that I can use the files with CS3 - until I downloaded the latest version of the firmware for the X-E1.   Now DNG does not see the RAF files, so I can't convert them.   When I point DNG Converter to the folder with the RAF files downloaded from the camera, Converter says "No items match your search," but the files are definitely there.   I am using the latest version of DNG Converter (8.2).   What is wrong?

Actually I found the problem in an earlier post.   If I point DNG Converter to the correct folder, it will convert the files in the folder even though it doesn't show the individual file names on the screen.  Silly programming, but that's how DNG works now, I guess.

  • Adobe DNG Converter failure

I have used Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 for a few weeks (on Windows 7 Ultimate 64) without incident to batch convert my Canon RAW files to DNG.  However, now when I try to open the program it does not work.
The problem seems to be that the GUI interface does not allow any of the boxes to be clicked or filled; the 'ert to DNG even th' text in the first box of Item 2 is a trace from a website on a previous application.  See below for what happens when I run the application.
I do not believe I have installed any new / disagreeable software; I have tried unistalling and reinstalling to no luck.  Any input is much appreciated.

I have a similar problem, yet different, with the latest DNG Converter (rel. 8_7). The design interface is flawed. It chops off the bottom of the box where all the action buttons are. I was previously using rel. 8_3 and it worked fine. Just got a Canon 7D Mk II so need the Oct. '14 release of DNG Converter (e.g., 8_7). It's a serious problem. Who at Adobe can fix this? Also, the program doesn't install into the Win 7 Control Panel, so there's no way to find it to run an uninstall. Tried contacting Sharad Mangalick re: this issue over a week ago - got no response - asked him to forward info to PM who's responsible for this product. Sent him description of issue and screen grab ....

  • What is  Adobe DNG Converter for?

Could someone kindly explain to a novice the purpose of Adobe DNG Converter. I'm shooting Raw images on a Nikon D80 (only) and opening them using PE4.0.1 (Mac) and ACR4.1. Am I right in thinking Adobe DNG Converter is of no relevance in this setup?

Hi, Anthony. For right now, the main purpose of the DNG converter is to save your camera's raw files in a format that will hopefully be more standard and preserved for longer against the day when raw formats and cameras have moved on and your particular camer model is no longer supported.
It can also be used to for cameras that are too recent for certain applications to have support for their raw formats. Make a DNG and sometimes you can work with your files in a program that doesn't support them.
EDIT A fair number of people with newer models were doing the latter for aperture till the last OS X update.

  • Can't open .CR2 files in PhotoShop CS5, Camera RAW or Adobe DNG Converter

Firstly take note I shot these with a Canon EOS 450D (or Rebel XSi)...
I see a lot of answers speaking about having the most up to date version of the Camera RAW Plug-in.
I have a similar issue with my .CR2 files... I cannot open them in Camera RAW because it tells me that my camera model or make is not supported by the Plug-in, and so I was directed by other forums to just try converting the .CR2 files to .DNG. I already had the Adobe DNG Converter (version 6.5 I believe), so I tried this. It too told me that my files or camera make were not supported.
However, I have always been able to successfully both open my .CR2 files AND convert them to .DNG. I had not updated anything on my camera nor on my Adobe programs and for some reason this last attempt to open RAW files failed me... I have no idea what change would have led to it. Luckily I shot in both RAW and Large JPG but I certainly don't want to rely on my JPGs of course... Any idea why this problem might have arisen now if it had always worked easily in the past?
    Thanks!

Are these the same exact files you've opened before that you cannot now open?
Or are they newly copied files (camera or CF card to computer)?
Can you not open ANY Canon 450D files, even those you find online and download?
What I'm getting at with these questions is to try to eliminate or suspect data corruption of the files on your disk.
Exactly what versions of the various tools do you have, specifically (don't guess - go check)?

  • Bug in Adobe DNG Converter 7.2 RC

Adobe DNG Converter 7.2 RC (for Windows) keeps missing files. When pointing it at a folder containing many raw image files to convert (and providing a different folder as the destination for the converted files) then it won't always find all the raw files. There are no files besides the raw image files in the folder ... umm, with the possible exception of the hidden Bridge cache files, .BridgeCache and .BridgeCacheT. The destination folder initially is empty.
When this happens then I have to re-do the conversion, with the same source and destination folders selected and the Skip source file if destination file exists check-box ticked. Then DNG Converter will collect and convert the raw image files it missed in the first run. So far, I never had to perform a third run, but I frequently have to do two runs to get a folder's raw files converted. For example, in my most recent attempt there where 966 raw image files in the source folder (of the type Sony ARW, along with XMP sidecar files), and DNG Converter found 954 files in the first run and the remaining 12 in the second. The bug also occurs when the folder contains mixed types (Sony ARW and Leica DNG in my case). There is no error message or any other kind of hint that something is going wrong, so you have to check the result manually. The status line at the top of the Conversion Status window teling the number of files to convert will report the number found; if that's less than the number of raw image files available then you'll have to start a second run when the first is finished. It's easy to miss the problem, and then you may end up with some files not converted!
So far, the bug inevitably occurs when there are many raw image files in the source folder—i. e. more than 400 (and up to 1,200). When doing several attempts on the same source folder then the set of missed files will vary, i. e. it's not always the same files that get missed. It is not even always the same number; the number of missing files varies between, say, 5 and 20, i. e. approx. 0.5 - 5 % of the number of files in the folder. It seems that if the number of raw image files in the source folder is small (say, less than 300) then the bug does not happen. In my last successful attempt, I converted 263 files of type Leica DNG, and DNG Converter found them all on the first attempt.

Does it matter what hard-drives the files are on, whether they are missed?
No, it doesn't. There are two physical SATA hard-disk drives installed in my machine, and the error occurs no matter where the source files are. It also does not matter where the destination folder is. Usually it's on an external 3.5" drive connected via USB 2.0, but I also tried the internal drives, to no avail.
    ssprengel wrote:
Does an older DNG Converter also miss files?
Gosh! To my surprise, yes it does! I just tried DNG Converter 7.1, 6.7, and 6.6, and they miss files just like 7.2 RC does. They didn't back when they were current ... or at least, I never noticed.
This seems to indicate that the culprit is not DNG Converter 7.2 RC but my machine. But then, my machine and the hard-disk drives (including the external 2 TB 3.5" USB drive) are the very same I am using for years now. I didn't change the operating system; it still is Windows XP SP3. I am also still using the same cameras as I always did for years now. The only significant things that changed recently (besides DNG Converter) are Photoshop 13.0.1 and Bridge 5.0.1.

  • Adobe DNG Converter can't recognize any files

    Hi All!
I'm new here and would very  much appreciate help.
I am running a Mac OS X 10.04.11 and would  like to open .CR2 files (native file from my Canon 500D) in PS4      / Bridge  CS4. My problem is that although I have downloaded the Adobe DNG Converter and Camera Raw 5.1  update as described  here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4057,  the DNG Converter can't recognise any files at  all (they are greyed-out  when I go to select any folder). I also followed these steps from the aforementioned link (well at  least I hope I did it right, I found the reference to step 4 slightly  confusing):
To install with Adobe Creative  Suite 4 or Photoshop CS4:
Automated installation on Mac or Windows®:
    1. Select "Updates..." from the Help menu
    2. Follow the on-screen dialogs to download and  install the latest  available Camera Raw update
    Manual installation on Mac:
    1. Exit Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge.
    2. Open the Finder.
    3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home  folder).
    4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
    Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS4/File Formats
    5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new  folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need  to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download  into the same folder as in Step 4.
    7. Launch Photoshop CS4 or Adobe Bridge.
Is that version the right one for CS4?
Only Finder and the Canon Software can preview my .CR2  files, Photoshop still gives the message: "Could   not complete  your request because Photoshop does not recognise this  type of file." and   Bridge only shows me a generic RAW thumbnail. This message also  appears in PS when I double-click on the  Camera-RAW.plugin. I also  restarted my computer,  but that didn't fix it.
Can  anyone help me out please? I'd urgently need a solution.
    Thanks in advance!

I now uninstalled the older 5.1 version and  instead installed the DNG Converter 6.3 separately and it works  perfectly.
About the Camera Raw 5.6 update: I also downloaded the plug-in  (which I think should be the last version CS4 supports) and can now open  my .CR2 files in PS, Bridge previews them too. :-)
Is it advisable to keep both, .CR2 as well as .DNG files? Why is it  that my .DNG files are lighter than the native .CR2?
    Thanks again!

  • Adobe DNG Converter 5.7 won't recognize Canon T2i files (.CR2)

Just downloaded Adobe DNG Converter 5.7.  I have a Canon T2i and my camera raw files (.CR2) are listed in the Converter but are faded and can't be selected.  Does anyone know what is going on or have a similar experience?

Remember that the DNG Converter works on FOLDERS, not on individual files.  If you are in the File > Open dialog box, make sure you're targeting the folder, not individual files.
Otherwise, use the Finder to drop file icons on the DNG Converter's icon.

  • How do I open RAW images from T1-XMG CR2?  Adobe DNG converter will not recognize these files.   HELP?

How do I open RAW images with T1-XMG CR2? I have adobe DNG converter but it will not recognize these images.  I have had no problem with converting other images.  and ACR will not recognize them either.  Help!@

The screenshot did come through once I added the period between dropbox and com, making URL:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/o7q829t2n3uuuqg/screenshot%202014-07-01%2012.36.28.png
The screenshot shows the first raw file is named T1-XMG_3306.CR2 which probably corresponds to a normal raw filename of IMG_3306.CR2.  It is not clear where this name came from.  I guess it is possible that you’ve entered in a renaming template in LR’s Import panel that replaces the initial I or _ with T1-XM and so the files are renamed.
What I have asked for is not a screenshot of your filenames, but one of the CR2 files, itself, which you can upload to dropbox and post a link to.  You should use copy/paste to get the link into a message, rather than typing it in, if at all possible.
This is because it was my understanding that these oddly-named CR2 files don’t work, and I wanted to look more closely at them to see if they were recognizable as some other type of file.
Do you have a raw file named IMG_3306.CR2 that these files correspond to?

  • DNG Converter Doesn't Recognize NEF for D7000

I have been lon time user of Adobe DNG Converter with Olympus E-500 but I recently got the new Nikon D7000. I have Elements 9 and I am using DNG Converter 6.3.0.79. I download the Elments Verison of the Camera Raw update that came out in December 2010. When I open up my DNG Converter it doesn't recognize any of the NEF files on my camera. I must missing somthing but not sure what it might be. Do I need to add a profile somewhere for it to see the NEF extention? I am bit at a loss.
    Thanks for any help

What do you mean by reinstall? Do I reinstall PSE 9 and then apply the patch or do I just do the patch again? I have installed the patch a couple of times and nothing is different. There is something wrong with the installation because now my Olympus RAW files do not show up either and they did as of yesterday prior to the installation of the 6.3 update.
And yes I can load the NEF into Elements but I like the batch convert option for RAW files.
    Thanks everyone for your help.

  • I can't open nikon D750 NEF files with adobe dng converter 8.7

I have downloaded adobe dng converter 8.7 to open NEF files from my new nikon D750 but it not works. The program do not recognice the files. Do you know how solve this problem?

You have to launch and run the Adobe DNG Converter on each batch of raw files you want to convert to raw DNGs.
You have to point it to the folder containing your raw files.  It does NOT work on individual raw files; it simply won't see them.  It works only on folders.
