Adobe DNG settings for Lumix DMC-LX1 workaround

The question is for Pat Gilmore, who originally posted the workaround:
Pat, I followed all your steps, but in Step 4 when I try to access the URL (where I will find out how to set the DNG preferences) I get this message:
The requested URL /users/pat/galleries/tech/AptDNG/ApertureDNGDMCLX1.html does not exist.
Can you provide any help with the preferenfces?
Thanks from a frustrated owner of a Lumix DMC-LX1 (and Nikon 70)
Susan

I doubt you will have much luck here. I wish support for my Konica Minolta A200 would be added but there is little hope now Konica Minolta have left the market.
One of Apple's main shortcomings in this area is their lack of RAW support. This will probally lead Adobe to have the upper hand with RAW processing as they support 100s more cameras than Apple do!

  • Please add support for Lumix DMC-LX1

I've had this excellent camera for a few months and am frustrated I can't use its RAW files with Aperture.
At least I can use it with Lightroom and Photoshop CS2, but I want to use Aperture. I sincerely hope cameras are added to Aperture at least as quickly as Adobe can add them.

  • RAW support for Lumix DMC LX2

RAW support for Lumix DMC LX2--is this available? coming? Now that I have purchased Aperture and downloaded 1.5, am sad to find that I still must process RAW for my camera in Photoshop.
    Thoughts? Help?

Did you try to first convert your RAW file into a DNG file (using Adobe DNG converter) and then import it in your Aperture library?
I'm planning to buy an LX2 as an everyday camera, and I have the same issue.
If you find a solution please tell me.

  • Support for Lumix DMC-GH1K

I just purchased a Lumix DMC-GH1K camera and have not been able to download the pictures into iPhoto. When I plug the camera in iPhoto starts and gives me thumbnail previews of the pictures but when I try to import them it says that it can not recognized the format (.RW2). Any ideas?

Download and try Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh. It's free and may work on those RAW files.

  • Adobe DNG Converter For Panasonic LX3?

The recent Apple update still does not recognize Panasonic's LX3 camera. I believed I could still get a Raw image into Aperture by doing the following:
Using Adobe DNG Converter, and looking at Aperture's requirement that the linear compression option be turned off. I converted the Raw format file to DNG and then tried to import it into Aperture. Aperture seems to "digest" the image, but then states the format is unsupported. Am I doing something wrong? Why doesn't this seem to work?

I think the problem is, for the LX3, Adobe demands that Linear conversion be on for the LX3. Given Aperture doesn't support this... I think you may be at loggerheads.

  • What is  Adobe DNG Converter for?

Could someone kindly explain to a novice the purpose of Adobe DNG Converter. I'm shooting Raw images on a Nikon D80 (only) and opening them using PE4.0.1 (Mac) and ACR4.1. Am I right in thinking Adobe DNG Converter is of no relevance in this setup?

Hi, Anthony. For right now, the main purpose of the DNG converter is to save your camera's raw files in a format that will hopefully be more standard and preserved for longer against the day when raw formats and cameras have moved on and your particular camer model is no longer supported.
It can also be used to for cameras that are too recent for certain applications to have support for their raw formats. Make a DNG and sometimes you can work with your files in a program that doesn't support them.
EDIT A fair number of people with newer models were doing the latter for aperture till the last OS X update.

  • Lost RAW format for Panasonic DMC-LX1 with new version 1.5.3 !!!

    Hi,
Aperture 1.5.3 tells me it doesn't understand the RAW format of my Panasonic DMC-LX1, when it used to in 1.5.2.
Anybody has any idea how to restore this ???
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Acrobat Settings for Resoluion

The letters are blurry especially for letters with diagonal lines, e.g. letter Z, because squares are showing up on the screen.  How can I change the setting back to high quality resolution?  I cannot print docs using this low quality. The Adobe Acrobat handbooks do not give detailed instructions to bring me to a screen to make the setting changes.

Have you tried to print the document. There is a separate setting for screen display (Preferences->Screen Display) that can effect how you see documents on the screen. These setting have no effect on printing.

  • Adobe encoder settings for PowerPoint?

    Hi
Been using AE for the last few months and find it great.  Had a question from a client who is having problems importing our encode.  We used h.264 codec at 2mbs at screen size 1280x720 and it wont import into PPT.  Wierdly enough a smaller encode with same codec at 360 resolution and 1mbs does.  We need a higher quality video in PPT to allow client to project.  Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance

If you are running powerpoint on Windows, then a WMV file works. If using a Mac, then use an MP4. This is based on powerpoint 2007. I know, but never tested it thoroughly, that 2010 (and probably 2013) handles more video formats by re-encoding them (when you ask it to) and embedding them within the PPTX file.

  • Lumix DMC - FZ 200 raw support lacking. Is there a work around to access jpeg images

    I'm Using Aperture 2.1.4.
I Shot RAW + JPEG on a recent trip using my new Lumix DMC - FZ 200 on a 64 gb sdxc card which seems supported by OSX 10.6.8 - import seemed to be working ok.
Aperture shows only thumbnail with "Unsupported image format".
Files in metadata show as .rw2 - is there a way to see the jpeg version?
How can one request Apple to support this camera?  Is there a way to work about this while Apple gets round to providing upate to include the FZ 200 ?

When I use Adobe DNG Convertrer for Lumix FZ28 raw files, only half of them can be read by Aperture.
If you look at the list of supported raw formats: http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
there is a footnote for dng:
Aperture works with most DNG files generated from cameras that support this format and with DNG files generated by the Adobe DNG Converter with the “Convert to Linear Image” option turned off.
That means that I now have to upgrade to A3. I'm a bit nervous and will have to go through my several lobraries and rebuild them and make sure I have back ups of A2 as well as the libraries before I start.
rIght, that precaution is the way to do it - back up everything, and rebuild and test the libraries, while you still have Aperture 2. And if you are using plug-ins upgrade them to the most recent versions.
To be able to use the most recent Aperture 3 update you will have to update your MacOS X as well. Check, if all applications that you need can run on MacOS X 10.8.2; PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

  • Oh no- new update and still no support for my panasonic lumix dmc-lx2-

sorry, but i was writing several support-mails and hoped so much, that this new camera could be supported. no way.
how can it be, that the »Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1« is supported, but the dmc-lx2 not? are the raws different?

Read the slightly newer topic by Pat Gilmour "Lumix DMC-LX1 RAW......" and you can see it is feasible, if not convenient. Note that for the LX2 you have to follow the instructions for the LX1 but write LX2 instead. It works a beauty for me

  • Camera Raw update for Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000

    Hi.
I have Elements 11 and need to update it to open .raw files shot with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000. I can't find the link where I can download the camera raw update.
    Can you please help me?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The FZ1000 requires camera raw 8.6 which is NOT compatible with PSE 11.
You will need to upgrade to PSE 13 or use the DNG converter.

  • Panasonic Lumex DMC-LX1 raw conversion for Aperture doesn't work.

I've seen many people having raw conversion problems. Direct import of Lumex raw files to Aperture does not work.
Adobe DNG conversion of raw to dng does not work.
    I'm running on Photoshop CS.
Perhaps my DNG conversion settings aren't right? Tell me what they should be.
Do I have to go as far as changing the raw.plist or whatever it's called.
Would CS2 with the Raw conversion Plug-in work instead?

    Joe,
good to see that you are reading these posts. I am sure that many users whose cameras' raw files are currently not supported by Aperture would love to help out in any way they can.
However, as we are living in a converging world, why doesn't Apple talk with Adobe and share some of the information used for RAW conversion? I'm thinking dcraw which (according to a note in its source code*) is using data provided by Adobe... and that same data is also contained in the Raw.plist.
Thus, if Adobe knows something and shares it with dcraw, and Apple uses some of the dcraw code (at least the m2 matrices found in Raw.plist are equal to the dcraw ones), why can't you guys all share the same information, and thus speed up RAW support for all cameras?
    Just a thought.
    Kindest regards,
    Karl

  • When is LR5 going to add support for the Lumix DMC-LX100?

Is there a date for the release of LR support for the Lumix DMC-LX100?

Anyone who knows is not allowed to say. And anyone who gives you a date doesn't know. Adobe doesn't make announcements about new versions in advance.
