Adobe Document Service to print PO attachments

Hi,
If anyone has Adobe Document Service (ADS) installed on their system, could you please create a Purchase Order (PO) with an attachment and take a printout of the PO and check if the attachment is printed along with the PO. If it is then please let me know.
In one of the threads I read that you need to install Adobe Document Service(ADS) to print the attachment along with the PO. But nowhere in the ADS documentation did I read that installing ADS will help print the attachement with the PO. I need to be sure of the solution before I reccomend installing ADS to the client.
Also if anyone has any documentation on ADS especially saying that it will help print PO attachments while printing PO please let me know.

I am on SRM4.0 SP9 and wanted to achieve the same. But got a reply from SAP as below :
Dear Customer,
The print and fax option will only display the attachment names, not
the actual attachment which is part of the purchase order, if you wish
to provide the attachments to the vendor please use the XML or email
output option and the attachment will be included in this document
type.
Is it possible through XDC, can you please share the document with me so I can read it.

Installing and Configuring Adobe Document Services For Print Forms

Hi,
I want to use Adobe Document Services,for Print Forms Scenario,on ABAP side.
I installed the Adobe document Services following the steps in the Installation Guide.I obtained the Credentials file and supplied it during installation.
Then i followed the steps in the configuration Guide,except for the SSL connection part, as i have chosen Basic Authentication .
The Web Service is running and on opening the home page,when i test the method rpData,it asks for Username and password,when i supply my username password it says, user does not have rights to method rpData.
I even tried using J2ee Admin rights,user with SAP_ALL rights, and ADS_AGENT.
When i test the service from ABAP side,using the RFC destination i created on Client 400,from where i want to use it, the test shows status code OK.
When i test a form through transaction SFP,it asks for USERNAME and password,which i tried as my USERID,ADMIN ID with SAP_ALL rights, even with the users i created during Configuration like ADS_AGENT, ADSUser etc.
Our J2ee Engine is installed on Client 200,i installed the ADS on Client 200 and created the users ADS_AGENt(service user with role SAP_BC_FP_ICF) and ADSuser on Client 200.
I also activated the ICF services and created the destination for the destination service using Visual Administrator.
My Issues:
1)To test the Webservice,what USER ID password needs to be supplied?Do i need some Special role or rights?
2)During Configuration ,when i create a USer in SAP Web AS ABAP for Basic Authetication,after creating ADSCallers Role and assigning to ADSUSer ,in Visual Administrator,after selecting com.adobe/AdobeDocumentServices*AdobeDocumentServicesAssembly.jar ,under ADSCallers,i ama ble to see the both the users ADSUser(user in j2ee Engine for basic authentication ), and ADSUSER (user type system in ABAP),are visible,
When try to add ADSUSEr by choosing ADD,from USER Tree , it doesn't do so.So i Added the ADScallers group instead,thus indirectly both users added.Can this be a Problem?
3)What else do i need to do?Am i missing something?

Hi all,
I am having an issue in which my ecc could not use properly the ADS on the EP.
I could properly execute FP_PDF_TEST_00 from se38 transaction which gives the correct version no of ADS. Also I am able to get the correct version no by giving username and password at http://<J2EE_host>:<J2EE_port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config which seems like the ADS is working properly in EP.
However when the abaper is trying to run his form using spf like ZFORM_VENDOR it is showing error like
" Error during activation Message no. EU837 "
Can you please shed some light on what all steps I need to check to ensure that ADS is working properly ?

Clarification on Adobe Document Service credentials

I want to use Adobe Document service for printing of a non interactive document in a custom built webdynpro application. If i interpret the following threads on licenses of Adobe Document service in this forum correctly, my requirement does not need to have any license for ADS.

But when I am looking to the configuration guide of ADS, in once of the sections it says:
"Adobe document Services require access to a credential in SAP Web application server to assign usage rights to PDF documents."
and then is asks to install credentials using .pfx file on WAS.
Is this really required in my case? Can I bypass this step??
Kindly explain how can I go ahead with printing of non interactive documents?

Hi Yashodhan,
in essence, your interpretation is correct, no additional license is required. For print forms, the setup should work without the credential.
(However, I haven't heard of a case where a customer didn't even want to evaluate the interactive features, so I have never heard of an installation without a credential...)

Yes adobe document services can be used to print the pdf documents .
ADS supports uploading the offline pdfs and displaying the document in the pdf format in the portal in the iview/IE with all the adobe tool bar where u can find the print option too.
For impelmenting you any how need all prerequisites .Installation,configuration well done depending the versions.

Adobe Document Services Configuration

ERP2004 SP17, EP 6.0 SP20, AS Java 6.40 (web dynpr runtime), As Java 7.0 (for ADS).
I am running ADS on one server (NW 7.0) and web dynpro runtime on server (AS Java 6.40). We are using central SLD. ADS on 64 bit lunux systems is not supported if AS Java 6.40 is installed. I also have followed the note; 925741 Adobe DOcument Service with non supported platforms.
I am trying to configure ADS using the configuration guide for ADS for NW2004. I published the ADS to SLD.
I went to http://<host>.<company.com>:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
and gave ADSUSER/Password,

The document says it should bring the version of the ADS. I got a tree like response in which i see an element which shows the version: 710.20061024154505.342190
I can not execute PCRs that come with MSS business packages. I am getting an error like this below.

I do not know RESPONSE 1 is causing ERROR 1 on portal.
I did not yet install adobe reader credentials.
any ideas why I am seeing the error on portal?

One more observation I have made is:
a HTTP destination is created on AS Java 6.40 as part of the configuration.
5.3 Creating a Destination of the Destination Service in the Java EnvironmentIf you use print forms you have to create the destination service on the server where the Adobe document services are installed. If you use forms in ISR scenarios, for example in the Business Package MSS, you have to create the destination service on the J2EE engine that hosts Web Dynpro.To create the new destination, proceed as follows:
1. Log on to the Visual Administrator. See How to Start the Visual Administrator [on page 48].
2. On the Cluster tab, choose Server <x> → Services → Destinations. Under Runtime, select HTTP. The available destinations are displayed. The information that applies to a selected destination is displayed in the right pane.
3. Choose New in the navigation panel.
4. In the dialog box that follows, enter the name FP_ICF_DATA for the new destination and choose OK.
5. Under Connection Settings enter the message server (or Web Dispatcher) of the SAP Web AS ABAP in the URL field:
http://<hostname>:<HTTP_port>
and in case of SSL,
https://<hostname>:<HTTPS_port> To display the host name of your SAP Web AS ABAP log on to SAP Web AS ABAP and call transaction SICF. In the main menu, choose Goto → Port Information. The information is displayed on a screen; where the HTTP_port is specified under Services.
6. Enter the client number of the system where the user ADS_AGENT exists in the field client. Keep the other fields System ID and Language empty.
7. Select the authentication method to use for the connection, and enter the parameters for the authentication method in the corresponding fields (if applicable).
In the Username field enter ADS_AGENT (must exist as service user in SAP Web AS ABAP)
In the Password field enter the same password as given for SAP Web AS ABAP service user ADS_AGENT.

8. If the connection is to use HTTPS, then specify how the connection should handle SSL server authentication.
9. Save the data.
After this configuration, I picked the button SAVE and TEST,
the system throws an error:

We have some problems with the Adobe Document Services.
We have installed acording to the installationguide and checked this several times. However when we try to run the program FP_PDF_TEST_00 (which is a SAP-provided test program) it fails with the following error:

SYSTEM ERROR
ERROR CODE : 100.101
This is ine of the symptoms -and we fell if we can solve this many of our our other problems will disaapear. (we cant preview, print and so on)
Any ideas?

I am me facing the error (Current user has user creation permissions in the UME, but cannot create users in the back-end system (data source). The original and possibly untranslated message was: "No active writeable datasource found for user creation, check your Persistence Configuration.".) I know that you has a same problem, what did you do?

Adobe Document Services licensing

Hi,
Can anyone tell if the installation of Adobe Document Services is subject of any additional licensing.
It will be used just for the gereration of Webdynpro ABAP alv print version.

Hi Nuno,
ADS comes as a part of NW204s, you don't require any additional license for it.
But if you want to use Interactive forms then you need license from sAP. If you don't have Interactive forms license, your forms will not work as Interactive forms in Production system.

we have some problems with the Adobe Document Services. we have installed acording to the installationguide and checked this several times. However when we try to run the program FP_PDF_TEST_00 (which is a SAP-provided test program) it fails with the following error:

No version information available

Is Adobe Credentials file always needed for Adobe Document Services

Hi,
We are setting up Adobe Document Services in our SAP ME 6.0 Environment.
We are getting this error in Default trace file when printing an adobe template:
"Unable to locate any credential aliases associated with CS credential
alias: ReaderRights"
In the help for ME 6.0 chapter "Setting up printing" it is stated that you install a credential file. But according to SAP Note 736902
you should only need the credentials file if you are running interactive forms, which we are not. We only want to print a PDF template which we have mapped against the file created from SAP ME.
Can anyone help me and tell me if I really need the credentials file or if I don't need it how I can proceed with setting up ADS without the credentials file?

Why do we have to create a new user for the server which is consuming the web service? We already have an user "ADSUser" defined for the Web AS server which has ADS services deployed.
I have opened this thread to solve the previous unanswered question I posted on SDN Empty area in place of Interactive form. .
One more thing the adobe print forms of ESS [Total Compensation Statement and Salary Statement] are rendering properly, only the ones with Interactive ability or not.

1. To access the NW04s configuration guide,
 - Go to https://service.sap.com/adobe
 - On the left frame (tree), under Adobe > Media Library > Documentation
 - On the right had pane you will find the link to the NW04s Configuration guide
2. The link that you have mentioned below details the steps required to be carried out on the client machine that consumes the Adobe Document Services. In our case that is the j2ee engine on which your Web Dynpro application is running. It could be the same physical machine with two different j2ee instances hosting Web Dynpro and ADS or it could be two different physical machine or a single machine having a single instance of j2ee engine hosting both the Web Dynpro and the ADS.
You do not have to create a separate username and a password on the consuming machine but you need to configure the Web Service client proxy to point to the ADS (maybe hosted on a different machine) with the username and the password created on the ADS server. As you have mentioned, you have already created such an user on the ADS (ADSUser). This user authentication on the client machine (consuming server - Web Dynpro) would be required at the runtime by the j2ee engine to authenticate itself with the ADS.

[PDF] use Adobe Document Services

We already discussed about generating PDF (see also this Weblog : /people/sap.user72/blog/2004/11/10/bsphowto-generate-pdf-output-from-a-bsp) from the current page ([PDF] Print BSP current page)
I would like to re-open the subject and asks the question :
"Is this possible to achieve the same without using some third-party tool(I know Eddy is fond of HTMLDOC), and especially, by using Adobe Document Services ?"

using ADS it should be possible. but we have taken a different route. we have developed a small java application (jsp) using <a href="http://www.lowagie.com/iText/download.html">ITEXT</a> residing on the j2ee engine and from out bsp we call this and pass our array to it, it would then render the content in PDF.

Using Adobe Document Services PDF opening in separate window

With EP 7.0 SP13 and WebDynpro for ABAP we are using Adobe Document Services to create a Print Preview with a PDF. This is not an Interactive PDF. In most cases the functionality is working correctly. We have one user where the PDF opens in a separate window outside of the portal environment. When this happens the buttons we have added to the bottom of the PDF for event processing (return) are on the portal window, but unavailable to the PDF.
What would cause the PDF to open in a separate 'session' and not in the active portal session?

The problem was on the users workstation copy of Adobe. There is a parameter that allows the PDF to be opened in a separate window.

Adobe document service error: SOAP Runtime Exception

Hello,
I am trying to test an Adobe Form created using the ABAP workbench SFP transaction, and getting the following error.
Adobe document services error: SOAP Runtime Exception: CSoapExceptionTransport : (100101)
These are the steps I am using.
1. Call SFP transaction and select an ADOBE Form.
2. Function key F8 to test
3. Select the Output device and do "Print Preview"
Our configuration is : WAS 6.40 SP11 and corresponding ADS level. We used the standard SAP ADS configuration guide to setup.

it looks like you have a problem with either your Adobe document services or your RFC configuration. In the current ADS Configuration Guide in the SAP Service Marketplace, you find a configuration quick test in chapter 3.4. The results should tell you if this is the issue.
There are 2 tests you can run:
A. Checking the User and Password
This is a small test where you can check that your entries for user, security role, and passwords are correct.
Procedure:
1. Enter the following URL in your web browser:
http://<server>:<port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
where <server> is the name of the J2EE engine where the Adobe document services are installed and <port> is the port of the J2EE engine.
Note that the entries in the URL are case-sensitive.
2. The web page of the web service AdobeDocumentServices is displayed. Choose Test.
3. Choose rpdata(test.) .
4. Choose the Send button without entering any parameters.
5. Enter the same user name and password as given in the configuration steps earlier.
6. Choose Submit.
If the configuration is correct, you get the information about the Version number in the response area.
If the configuration settings are not correct, the page does not change and Submit still appears.
B. Checking the ABAP Connection
This is a small test for checking the RFC destination you have created.
Procedure
1. Log on to your SAP system.
2. Call transaction SE38
3. Enter the name of the test report: FP_PDF_TEST_OO.
4. Choose Execute (F8)
If the configuration is correct, you get the Version Information.
If the configuration is not correct, you get a dialog box with fields for user and password. Check your configuration settings and also the entries you made when creating the ABAP connection.

Hello,
I need to configure ADS for Form Processing (ABAP). However, I got the following landscape:
AS JAVA instance: Netweaver 7.01 (EP/BI-Java)
AS ABAP instance: Netweaver 7.4 SR1
Is there any restriction or consideration regarding this scenario? I mean, having an ABAP stack higher than the JAVA. Is it possible?

Prerequisites
The AS Java where the ADS are running should have at least the same release as the AS ABAP.
Caution
The following functions for PDF forms require at least the ADS version on AS Java 7.20:
Parallelization of large print jobs
Stitching of PDF forms

Adobe Document Services - Default Settings

Hi there
We are providing users with the functionality to print their reports through PDF. This functionality is working almost perfectly (apart from the irritating fact that multi line cell headings are not printed), but what I have been requested to change now are the default settings that are displayed when the download starts.
There is a screen that asks for the theme that should be used, and more importantly, the page layout ... it would be great if we could change those default settings, but I don't know where that is done ... any ideas?
